Hello everyone!
I saw many people with issues in GTA3 on Dell Streak 5. Solution is simple.
You need any file explorer with Root privilegies (I am using ES File Explorer), navigate to /system/ and open build.prop in any text editor and change line "debug.composition.type=gpu" to "debug.composition.type=mdp", save it and reboot your Streak.
You will lose smooth graphics effects in Android system but you will have additional performance in 3D apps. (You can disable all graphics effects in Settings-Display-Animations)
GTA3 is now playable without lags but there can be more performance for cost of lower graphics quality. You can install Chainfire3D, install its driver and after automatic reboot launch Chainfire3D, choose Default OpenGL settings and check Reduce Texture Size and Reduce Texture Quality.
GTA3 is definetely playable without lags on Dell Streak 5! Enjoy!
I am using DSC ROM 0.64 with 128-1190 ondemand OC but it will work on other ROMs as well.
Regards, Bugscze
so i have gingerstreak 2.3.3 and gta3 runs great..(i mean, it does crash but..)
i cannot pass the bomb da base II...
Sorry I don't know how to do this mission because I'm not playing them.
About crash: Try update to StreakDroid 2.4.4 or use Gkernel which is very stable.

I cannot find the line you said in my build.prop. I'm running a stock 2.2.2 rooted if that helps??
I added mdp instead of gpu, saved, rebooted and it still lags.
What's the problem?
Yes I granted my root explorer root access and made the files writable. Then when I saved I made them non-writable and rebooted
*Edit
I have Android 2.3.3 Rooted.
**Edit
I also did the ChainFire3D drivers and stuff and nothing.

thank you that worked for me i done a few missions last night with no problems
(you have to tick "root settings" in ES File Explorer before you edit the build.prop)
I use ROM toolbox its free on the market for rooted phones. I changed the build.prop n chainfire3d I haven't notice that much of a difference it still lags but maybe not as bad.
I'm running the latest dcs
Can you tell me how much fps ur getting?
*edit* Nvm I did notice an improvement once I started playing. Its a bit laggy at first after start up but then it begins to get less as u progress.

And two buttons doesn't work at the same time (accelarate and turning).
Any help?
Ok anyone know if debug.composition.hdpi is better than mdp for running games? On longhorn rom and that is what my build prop states?!
where you find system?
i use es file explorer but no system....

How I got psx4droid working on my htc desire hd..
I know there are already guides for this but I found them a bit confusing, so heres how I done/do it.
1. download psx4droid from market
2. download rombuddy from market
3. download astro from market
4. in astro create a folder called “..playstaytion games” in sdcard (I put the two dots in front to put it to the top of the list so it makes it easier to find later)
5. on your pc search the interwebnet for scph1001.bin, download this file and save it to the dektop so its also easy to find.
6. Connect your phone to your pc and save the scph1001.bin file to sdcard/psxoid (cant remember if I created this folder or if it came with the psx4droid app, if its not there then create the folder using astro in sdcard)
7. go into psx4droid app and make the scph1001.bin file your bios.
8. use rombuddy (with wifi) to download one of the many games listed, eg “driver-you are the wheel man”, click download (this takes about 20 mins so be patient) ive also found some games havnt worked.
9. Once its downloaded use astro and go to sdcard/roms/psx- there you will find your new game (one is a brown box which Is zipped and one is a white rectangle which is unzipped and ready to go)
10. press and hold the unzipped file, click edit then move. (these dont have to be moved but i do it to keep them together) you can also delete the zipped (brown box) file as it is no longer needed.
11. Now go back to your ..playstation games folder, open it, press menu, edit, paste.
12. Now your game should be ready to play, all you do to play is open astro find the ..playstation games folder click your game then click psx4droid in the pop-up menu and play.
hope this helps, like i said im a novice so might have missed bits or done things backwards but it works for me.
thanks
A fine post. Thanks for sharing with us fellow XDA members who've dreamed about psx4droid but haven't actually got round to trying it out, this eases it for me
I had no problems installing psxdroid, but it runs with a low framerate, at least RE nemesis on my dhd..

Agreed but it seems to run smoother on other android devices over the DHD, get a steady 30+ FPS but the picture still seems to stutter.
I managed to install the whole thing by downloading the files via the web browser on the phone, so you can cancel out the connecting it to PC part of the tutorial .
Good job putting up a guide however, I'm sure it will help someone along the way!

yeah i suppose downloading the bios file via phone rether than pc would make no difference but thats just how i done it.
ive found that tony hawks pro skater 4 isnt too bad to play but dave mirra bmx and street fighter have been very slow. any tips for speeding them up?
thanks
I got some extra FPS by playing with the settings such as frame skip, disabling sound and refresh rate on high usage games such as MGS and FF7.
Sigh...I miss the days of FPSECE on the HD2...oh well, i'm sure the DHD should be able to work faster, my HD2 used to get a steady 60fps on Spyro 3 without any stuttering...it was heaven I tell you! Overclocking the Desire HD to 1.3ghz while playing should help quite a bit. I don't know what else, though. Unless killing background processes, and the like. I don't understand how the HD2 could outperform the DHD...unless it's bad software code optimisation and the OS causing performance issues...
It helps, when setting max refreshrate to 30 or 40 fps, when games stutter.
Why its so slow? dunno, bad coding i think!
it work well on my DHD
Desire HD problems
All games seem to run slow on my DHD. The fps is usually around 50-60 but it just seems to run so sluggishly, it makes all games unplayable. I have tried messing around with the various different settings and killing every program but PSX4droid but it seems not have no effect on the performance. Has anyone got any solution at all?
Thanks,
hey XDA, i figured that while i was looking around i might as well post a tutorial of my own. for the MT3GS users, this will give you the ultimate features out of your slide. Ok first off if you didnt see in parentheses "with root" then i jus sed it again and if you do not hav a rooted mytouch slide, look away from this post now! Now that that is out of the way, let us begin
1. (cant say this enough) ROOT THE **** PHONE
rooting the phone makes majority of the stuff on this page possible
2. Install a custom official rom
i installed CM7, quite possibly the greatest rom for the slide, introducing a Gingerbread 2.3.3 UI and a bus load of features
3. Enable data2ext
this is VITAL for users because the slide has at most what, 150mb of space? that sucks right! so data2ext takes the data within the internal memory, and puts it on your SD card [data2EXT(ernal)] if you do this correctly, it will give you 500mb of space (well really more like 482mb) this makes your phone EXTREMELY fast.
4. enable apps2sd
download modinstalllocation from the android market and give it super user permissions to force install all apps to SD (can be moved freely between SD and internal) at the time of me writing this post (june 2, 2011) i have roughly 195 apps installed on my slide with apps2sd and data2ext both enabled
[WARNING, APPS-2-SD AND APPS-2-EXT ARE 2 DIFFERENT THINGS, DO NOT USE APPS-2-EXT AND DATA-2-EXT AT THE SAME TIME BECAUSE DATA-2-EXT WILL BE REMOVED!!!!]
with data2ext
4. Install Flash player 10.- (whatever is the newest version)
to do this, you must have android sdk on your pc:
4a. put the flash player apk in the tools folder of android sdk
4b. open command prompt
4c. type in:
cd
cd c:\androidsdk\tools\ (or whatever path it is to get to the tools folder in SDK)
adb install (name of flash player file).apk
[it will install.......]
then it should say [success]
(note: can use this to install any app on your phone, i used it to install swype because CM7 did not have it)
4c. reboot your phone (do the process to get to the tools folder, then type adb shell, it should show a "#" type in "reboot" w/o quotations)
5. download CPU tuner from the android market
i used CPU tuner because it is free and official. you will need this to run high end games like Asphault 5 HD, Modern Combat: Sandstorm, etc. (this is wher it gets awesome). afterwards, open CPU tuner, click profiles, press the menu button on your phone, and click insert, create a new profile (i called mine gaming, because it helps run the stuff smoother, increases the power of coverage, both 2G/3G and Wifi, and a bunch of other stuff). I set mine to min. 787 MHz, max 864 MHz, and know that this doesnt come free, this thing will MURDER a battery, and the CPU tuner is designed to change profiles when battery is low unless you change the option in the settings!
[another warning: messing with the CPU settings can cause damage to your phone if you try and push it, if you do not have a reliable battery or screwed up phone, use caution when doig this.]
6. GET DOWNLOAD CRAZY
i have taken my phone to a new level! here is where the fun comes in:
A. get on the internet (or the XDA forums and search "[name of game] HVGA apk" or "gameloft games HD HVGA". and here is something little to no one knows, the Sony Xperia X8 has the same screen resolution (HVGA) and the games are compatible on the Slide, for example: people have modded the files in games like Asphault 5 so that it fits the screen, and they WORK on the slide. so far i currently have: Asphault 5, NOVA, NOVA 2, Guerilla Bob, Modern Combat Sandstorm, Gangstar: West Coast Hustle, Gangstar 2, Heroes of sparta, and am looking to find Galaxy on Fire 2. And hey if all you want is performance on non-modded currently compatible games, then it does the job too. It makes them faster and smoother!
I will be posting links once i get past the XDA rules (i am a new user and need to do 8 posts on the forum before i can post links!) i hope this helped everyone, and if you have something i can add to this list of things to do then feel free to post it in a comment or PM me
sincerely
Ognimnella
[EDIT (June 4th 2011)]
SKAm69 and gtmaster303, when i originally installed the HD games (thank you SKAm69 for your help) the games were EXTREMELY choppy even with the CPU tuned and almost 490mb of ram! so i went to the market (on PC internet) and found the latest version of flash, then googled "Flash Player 10.3 apk download" and downloaded it, then used Android SDK to install it! that simple!!
[EDIT (June 8th 2011)]

BTW, Galaxy On Fire 2 works, there's no need for hvga apk, just hvga cache.

That wud b good! But still it did let me install and I saw signifigant improvement in the speed and quality of my games on a real note!
wait everyone they were right it is INSTALLED but doesnt run, i jus happend to be on a site that allowed me to test it. hey was it adobe flash or HTC flash that is installed on custom roms because i had a FROYO 2.2 rom and it worked just fine i was watching flash vids and everything someone please clear this up for me!

The stock Slide has a version of Flash Lite that i think HTC implemented. I don't know if that works with non HTC Sense ROMs. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

If Flash doesn't work on the Slide, I kinda doubt that it was the installing of Flash 10.3 that improved the quality of your games. Maybe it was something else you did at the same time you installed it. Try uninstalling it and see if you have the same performance in your games.

Since Best Buy lowered the price of the Galaxy Tab p1010 (wi-fi only) for a short time following the HP Fire Sale fiasco, a lot of people have purchased this tablet. I did, but not because of the HP Touchpad, but because I wanted a 7" tablet that was fully functional (i.e., GPS, camera, Android Market, etc.) at a decent price. All of my area Best Buys sold out within a week, and most had at least 10 units in stock. Anyway, I knew the limitations of this tablet when I purchased it and I knew it would never be as fast as my old Captivate since it did not have the Hummingbird processor and the SGX540 GPU and no support from Samsung. I did however want to make it as fast and functional as I could, and with the wonderful screen and clean lines, it was one of my favorite picks. It took some time and some testing (and without a firmware backup, a little stressful at times). Here is what I have tried, and luckily with some success. I have compiled this information from other threads. I know this is an older tablet and a lot of this has already been discussed, I just wanted to have one place with all of the tweaks available for the wi-fi only version for others to review and try.
EVERYTHING HERE IS VERY RISKY AND NOT RECOMMENDED FOR AVERAGE USERS. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY BRICKS THAT MAY OCCUR FROM TRYING ANY OF THESE TWEAKS. I HAVE PERSONALLY TESTED ALL OF THESE TWEAKS ON MY P1010 AND THEY HAVE WORKED WITHOUT FAILURE, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THEY WILL WORK ON YOUR P1010. PLEASE FOLLOW ALL THE DIRECTIONS THAT ARE INCLUDED IN THESE LINKED THREADS AND READ, READ, READ.
Z4 Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
I used Z4 Root to successfully root my tablet. It took two tries, with the first one just hanging up and doing nothing. I held the power button down until it shut off and then restarted it. Tried a second time and had success.
OCLF 2.3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784691
Coming from the Captivate, I remembered that One-Click Lag Fix (OCLF) did wonders for my phone early in the 2.1 days. I installed this app and followed the directions. The first time it failed and I had to do the same thing - hold power button down until it powered off and then restart. On the second try it worked well and I successfully installed the EXT2 files and applied the lag fix. OCLF will let you change the scheduler to NOOP or CFQ (the default). The other schedulers do not appear to be supported. I am currently trying out NOOP, but it seems to have some issues when you have a lot going on in the background. I'll update this post after I try it out for a little bit. One note with OCLF, if you have any apps installed on your external SD Card, you will need to move them back to the phone so OCLF can apply the lagfix.
OK, so getting haptic feedback to work using OCLF - well, it's not without its own problems. You can undo Lagfix 2.0+, reboot and apply Lagfix 1.1, which is the last option under OCLF I think. Now, running 1.1 doesn't really affect anything except it is nearly impossible to undo it. 1.1 somehow deletes your playlogos1 file and when you use OCLF to restore the file, it renames it to playlogosnow. Using Root Explorer, you can rename playlogosnow to playlogos1, but make sure you are renaming the right file (the smaller one). It was a big hassle to get back to the point where I could undo 1.1 and go back to 2.0. 1.1 also deletes your boot-up screen (assume that is the original playlogos1 file), but I returned it to Best Buy the other day after completely returning it back to stock and they didn't give me any problems.
Set CPU (from XDA for registered users): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
Using SetCPU, I upped the low end to 600mhz and kept the upper end at 1000mhz. I did set a profile for when the screen was off to keep the low end at 300mhz and the upper end at 600mhz to save on battery. I also changed the scaling to ondemand, which seems to make everything a little smoother.
Fugu Tweaks: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981125
OK, the Fugu Tweaks are the one mod that I made that I didn't really see any performance improvements. When these became available, most of the devs in the Captivate section applied these tweaks to their 2.2 ROMs and there was some noticeable improvements with several launchers. On the P1010, screen transitions seemed a little smoother with Launcher Pro, but I didn't really see anything different with Go Launcher. I extracted the files from the CWM download and used Root Explorer to replace them under the /system/bin folder (read the OP in the link to make sure you place in the right location). Before replacing them, I made a copy of the original files (renamed to xxxx.copy) so I would have a backup. This is critical since there is no firmware backup for the P1010. When you reboot your tablet, the boot animation will be blank, so don't panic. Also, some apps will not work right with these tweaks - Quadrant is one of them. I don't know why, but it will just go blank and restart. I removed the tweaks and Quadrant worked fine.
Chainfire 3D: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087427
Chainfire 3D is supposed to improve your graphics. I never saw any real improvement when running Quadrant - the spinning earth/moon still looked horrible and choppy. Since most videos play smoothly on the tab without this tweak, I cannot say definitively whether or not this tweak improves performance or not. I did not see any changes in Quadrant or SmartBench 2011. It is a very finicky app and breaks several apps, including several games. I think it has to do with the resolution of the tab being at 1024x600 (or whatever it is) versus being 800x480.
V6 Supercharger scripts - I didn't have a chance to really test these out. I managed to get them installed and running, but altering memory free settings kept breaking some of my news widgets.
Other - you can use SGS Tools from the Market to alter your build.prop settings (you can use any number of programs to do this too, but SGS Tools is easy to use). If you turn on Stagefright (media player only), you can bump up your Quadrant scores to 2100. This doesn't really mean anything as it is an inflated score, but still interesting to see it.
I currently have z4root, OCLF and SetCPU running on my P1010, since those are the ones that seem to have some performance improvements. I get 1600-1700 on Quadrant and about the same scores on SmartBench as the original Droid X (800 something and 1500 something). Nenamark 1 gets me about 21fps. This tab is definitely useable and I only wanted something to surf the web and play some games on the side. NOVA from Gameloft does work on the P1010 and works well (picked it up during the Labor Day sale). Angry Birds plays well, but Angry Birds Rio has some hangups when it first starts (but then again, my Atrix does too sometimes).

If you feel like I have helped you and want to click "Thanks" go ahead and do so. But it doesn't really matter to me. I just wanted to get this information out to others.
Thanks for this post. I have also recently purchased this device at Best Buy.
I used SuperOneClick to root without issue.
I used OCLF and also used the "Change Scheduler" option with recommended settings and tweaks.
I set the dpi to 182 with lcddensity. Setttings didn't initially survive reboot. I don't know how I eventually got them to stick. Just kept hitting apply and rebooting until the setting held. Still sometimes resets to 240. Edited /system/build.prop with ES File Explorer. While I was doing that, I went ahead and changed the default Timezone to my own. Seemed easy enough and the screen is more to my liking.
I attempted to compile my own kernel from Samsung sources. I couldn't get it to flash with Heimdall, though.
I did a roto-backup. Don't know if it will actually work, but I figured better to have a plan than not. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850359
Elixir2 gives a lot of interesting info. So does the /proc directory.
One thing I haven't tried on my Tab yet is the V6 Supercharger scripts. Maybe I'll have to try that out soon and see if they'll work on the Tab.. They made a hell of a difference on my phone.
Thanks for the tips. I used to own the P1010
and did the same tweaks with it. It did improve
the tab a lot. But I got issues with the OCLF --
it disables the haptic feedback. Never found a way
around that one.
Anyhow, I already sold my P1010 and bought
the P1000 and never looked back.
I have some new updates to post shortly. I tried out the V6 Supercharger scripts, experimented more with OCLF and SetCPU and found a way to get haptic feedback working. I also had to do another factory reset to get everything working again. I'll try to post here in the next couple of days.
Sorry for not updating the OP. I actually got rid of the Galaxy Tab p1010 and picked up the HTC Flyer for $299. I will make a few edits to the OP but those will be the last edits since I do not have the Tab anymore.
That's too bad... But if you're now happier with the Flyer then so be it
Anyhow, would you mind posting how you got the haptic feedback to work? For the benefit of the P1010 users out there.
Thanks a lot!

When doing the one click lag fix do the 1+ version and you do not lose haptic feedback

Hi wonder if any one can help with my galaxy tab P1010 before I throw it at the wall !! I am trying to put books on from a disk I have. I am useing Calibre to convert them. However as you probably already aware that the device shows up as a portable device and not as a letter on the drive. So I am unable to get the 2 things to connect, I have tried lots of options like changing the driver to a letter, does not work. Also turned off usb debugging, the re installing drivers did not work. Is there any thing else I can do to make it work ? thanks for reading
Hmmmmmm... OCLF doesn't work for mine! Somehow it can't find the playlogos file in the system/bin. Not even a file named playlogosnow. I did a full nandroid backup before I installed OCLF and restored it and I still couldn't find the file in Root Explorer... HELP!!!
BTW, I'm running the KPI version of GB 2.3.6
Hi, there
i just switched to cyanogenmod nightly #203 and its really awesome speedwise.
the only "problem" i have is the auto screen rotation.
its so slow compared to iphone for example.
its not a problem of the rom i think, because the stock rom is rotating slow too.
one the other hand, when start the camera its rotating very smoothly.
is there any way to speed that up? i searched on the web but couldnt find any useable fix for this.
thanks!
Lol our wildfire is a cute device na. Its processor and ram is just basic. We can't compare it with a phone that have almost double the potential and ofcourse double the price. ( but with half the features of android os ) more over iPhone is an eyecandy phone. I mean apple give more importance to its GUI and look. So its a must that it should have a speedy interface.
For your sake of knowing, own an android costing some where near to iPhone. Like sgs2, HTC desire z, or some thing with 1+ ghz processor and 756+ MB ram. And android 2.3 or higher. Then feel the difference.

Installing/Using:
1. Download the attached V6_SuperCharger_for_Android*.txt script and save to your sdcard.
... Do NOT run the V6 SuperCharger install script at boot!
2. Load the script (V6_SuperCharger_for_Android*.txt) into Script Manager and select "Run as Root."
3. Touch the screen for the soft keyboard or slide out the keyboard and get SuperCharged! Just pick an option!
4. READ the script's output!
5. Afterwards, READ the html HELP FILE in the root of your SD Card!
6. Disable "Lock Home in Memory" if your ROM has this option.
7. Optional: For a quick status check, you can put a Script Manager widget for V6 SuperCharger on you desktop
Install an app called 'Script Manager' from the market. There are both Free and Adfree versions (i.e. paid) available.
Here's another guide with screenshots, incase you don't get it:

I installed Cyanogen mod 7.1 on my Huawei u8800pro and all the gameloft games just quit after the intro video or doens't turn on at all, before CM7 i had 2.2.2 Froyo and every thing worked fine. Some said to clear app data in "manage application", some to delete "hosts" file, both didn't work, does anybody has any idea how to fix it? Would be very grateful
hi
try flashing this one
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SXKEJIMM
Same
Didn't help, still the same, but thanks for trying. Any other ideas?
I reinstalled CM7, now only the new games like Asphalt 6 adrenalin doesn't work.
AFAIK, gameloft use code which optimizated for HTC devices. Our huwei have the same hardware, so, we can use it. =) Try:
1) You need root (or superuser) and root explorer.
2) Open root explorer at /system/ folder.
3) Find build.prop and press "Mount R/W " button.
4) You need to edit this file, don't worry root explorer will backup it automatically. Change this:
ro.product.model=Desire HD
ro.product.brand=htc_wwe
ro.product.name=htc_ace
ro.product.board=ace
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
save, the file and REBOOT your device, that will change model of your huawei to desire hd, so if you have any paid soft, you can loose the license.
It really works, i have already forgot about problems with games.
Sorry for my english...
root explorer and build.prop from my u8800 (not pro!) attached, i am using 2.3.7 cm7.1.
@yod123
hms, thanks...
Will there be a big diffrence, because as i checked HTC Desire HD has the same 1GHZ processor as the Huawei u8800 pro?
Tried it, got a black screen after rebooting.

that means that you did something wrong, or just installed build.prop that I attached. Of course it will not work, because we have different phones. Yes, desire hd has a bit more powerful cpu but the same graphics. (andreno 205). I installed asphalt 6 using this tip, and it works pretty good. A bit slow in the game menu, but no problems with gaming. Wait a bit, ill try to make a video...
as my video recorder is demo version it works only for 20 seconds. Don't pay attention to video wich displays game, in real it looks much better.
This problem also happened to me, but I decided what was and basically was what said yod123. I'll do a How-To and then leave the link here
Edit: Here is the link, I hope helps you [How-To] Play HD Games and Gameloft games on Huawei Ideos X5 U8800
Unbelievable
I can't believe it, but it still didn't work, it's probably because my huawei is pro. Damn it. Got the same black screen after rebooting.
Do you have the chainfire 3D and plugins installed?
I have chainfire, but i don't have the plugins, where do i get them?
1 - Put the Plug-ins folder in SD.
2 - Enters in ChainFire and go to "Install Plugin".
3 - The phone will look for plugins.
4 - Then install the 3 plugins, one at a time and do not forget all.
5 - Then go back and click on "Fix Market Settings".
Note1: Then you can access the "Default OpenGL settings" and where it says "Use plugin" choose QUALCOMM (default) and then "Fx Market Settings" again.
Note2: Each time you change the "Use plugin" (you may try which of the three can play a particular game, for example, to play "Samurai II Vengeance" I have to use the NVIDIA plugin) you have to do "Fix Settings Market", ALWAYS.
Thank u for your effort, but it still didn't work, i just don't understand why it can run asphalt 5 and can't the 6th version, i'll try to run N.O.V.A 2
N.O.V.A 2 works
i managed to fix the asphalt problem. It was something with the CM, cause when i reinstaled it and then istalled the Chainfire with the plugins, asphalt didn't crash.
