How Do You Afford so Many New Phones?

I've noticed a number of users on here that have seemed yo own many new smartphones in what seems like a short period of time. For example not singling out anyone specifically but some of you guys seem like you've had a G2, Droid X, Droid Incredible and finally an Evo. Okay maybe not every one of those but you get the idea.
So how do you afford to switch so frequently? I certainly don't make enough to switch/upgrade that often.

I trade a lot online and that's how I get my phones I'm only 17 and I have both the Nexus One and Nexus S.

I did this also; kept trading things for money to get other things or trading one for another. Loved my rant but I wanted the EVO. Sold my iPod touch to get the funds. Now I can afford most things though.

With the amount of sperm I have sold it's entirely possible.

i tell my wife that im using my upgrade so she wont get all grumpy about me spending a bunch of money on phones.
in all reality ive used my upgrades on what we have now, me = evo, wife has the epic, and my daughter has the evo shift.

I've had a hero and an evolution. I prefer to spend money on tires, gas, and insurance.

Not sure whether I want the 3D or the within or the photon or the rumored "epic 2" so I'm going no where for now.
My guess is the Evo forum will be active for at least the next six months.

Honestly, with running MikG, I have no need for a new phone. Battery is great, phone is speedy, and everything works really well.
I don't have a need to upgrade. I want to see whats coming out 3Q.

I'm still here, played with the 3D today in a store, always thought 3D was a gimmick, but I got proved wrong as its a really great feature. I'm gonna still hold out though and wait for the Within & Photon since it looks like Motorola is finally seeing the light as they unlocked the Atrix bootloader today.

Just ordered mine today. And if something better comes out in the next coming months I'll be ordering that too lol.

staying put!!!
played with one for over an hour today, was cool, but I can hold off for now to see whats gonna happen 4th quarter or early next year. thing is blazing fast though, sign of really good things in the future

I am staying right here friends. Had the "3D" in my hands and was not that impressed. I will wait for the next Nexus.

To bid you farewell

I have moved on from the vibrant. I no longer use T-Mobile service. I went to virgin and picked up the triumph. I just want to say thank you to all the people that have used my roms, thank you to the people that have donated to the cause, thank you all. I will not be removing my roms, but no more updates or support for them. Expect some edt love for the triumph very soon. Thanks again everyone.

I was under my father's contact. He had enough of paying there bills. So we both went to virgin and got triumphs. Can't beat $35 a month. And so far, the triumph is a great device. Data is a bit slow, but that's to be expected.

No contract. I paid $210 marked down from $300 for the phone at Best Buy. There having a sale until tomorrow, 30% off any virgin phone with activation.

EVO 4G will be right next the C64 and its 64K ram expansion unit and tape drive within my personal museum. As for next phone..who knows.. too early to tell.

Is HTC gonna get hit with all the patent mess from Apple? I lost track of what was going on but last I saw, Apple was suing over a patent on the ability to click on a phone number within a webpage and have it dial the number. At the time, it wasn't going to affect imports for a few months. Anyone heard anything?

The galaxy nexus looks pretty appealing. Although I would like to stick with HTC. Hopefully they come out with a phone that has a screen like the nexus or the epic touch.

I get one more Premier Gold 1-year upgrade on April 1st. If the Galaxy Nexus is out by then, I'll get one. Otherwise, probably the Epic Touch 4G.
I wish HTC would come out with something hot between now and then.

How are you still able to get a one year up? That ended forever ago didn't think they were doing anymore grandfathering in.

Gold Premier (10+ years) customers were given one last one-year upgrade if they were close to their date. Don't remember the time frame, but my acct reflects this. Got my EVO last April, and I'm eligible 04/01/2012.
They ended one-year upgrades for Silver Premier customers last April. Gold customers ended 12/31/2011, with one more upgrade granted.

i just took anything newer than the epic for resale value. im upgrading soon my self. the evo3d will bring more after im done with it than the o.g. epic.

yes, but the thing is, my epic was dead either way, and i need another phone. why pay a 100 dollar deductible on a 2 year old epic valued at around 70 dollars, when i can pay the same deductible and get the not even 1 year old evo 3d, witch if i decided to sell it today, would bring me 200 dollars or better.
the deductible was going to be paid either way.

Austin make sure to stop in here and post when you see those great specials. My 32GB card just came today.
