Honestly, with running MikG, I have no need for a new phone. Battery is great, phone is speedy, and everything works really well.
I don't have a need to upgrade. I want to see whats coming out 3Q.

I'm still here, played with the 3D today in a store, always thought 3D was a gimmick, but I got proved wrong as its a really great feature. I'm gonna still hold out though and wait for the Within & Photon since it looks like Motorola is finally seeing the light as they unlocked the Atrix bootloader today.
Just ordered mine today. And if something better comes out in the next coming months I'll be ordering that too lol.

So I've had my evo since it first came out rooted shortly after and been flashing ROMs daily til CM6. And stuck with their nightlies, but I'm ready to move on now. Giving this beauty to my girlfriend, stuck now on which phone to get next. Seriously thinking about getting the Nexus S, but also thinking about verizon's incredible. Not too sure which I'm gonna get. I just wanna know what this beautiful XDA community thinks. Maybe this could've been in another section but oh well. Sue me!

I would not get a phone that can't handle an SD card. The S looks sweet but thats it IMO. I had a Fascinate and I swore I would never get a Samsung device again because of the lack of software updates. I had an INC and liked it. Its all a matter of taste. I have had a Droid X and the original Droid and out of all the phones I like the EVO the best and my second would be the original Droid..go figure.

Well honestly I think the Nexus S us a great device! it just comes down to what you like & what you need. Some people say to wait for Dual-core phones but personally I don't like the idea. So it's all up to you, when it comes down to it. Also take into account that the Nexus S didn't have a SD card slot, but not a big deal to me

i would wait for a few months.. and better phones will be released.

I just can't stand how the buttons are "backwards" on the nexus s. I know all samsung phones are this way, its just annoying at first.

Not quite...my understanding is that it's only a single core processor. I'd rather have the 3D feature and not use it if I have to give dual core up.
OP, the only phone we know is coming soon that's in the same class as the new generation of phones is the Samsung Galaxy S II. HTC and Moto have both released top-end phones on Sprint in the last few months. My guess is that after the SGSII, the next high end phones we see on Sprint will be the next Nexus and other phones designed for ICS.

Is this an annoucement date or when the phone is actually going to be available?
I had planned on waiting a couple months to see what comes out but I left my EVO in a golf cart this past weekend and before I got back to the course the cart kid had rinsed out the cart and got a little water on it. It wasn't even a lot of water but the phone is acting crazy now and keeps hopping in and out of car mode and goes straight to speakerphone when I answer a call. Not sure if I can put up with it like it is and I not going to spend the $100 deductible to replace.
I'm hoping my 30 day trial will get me a look at the SGS2. If not, kinda leaning towards the photon but need to spend some time with it in store. Was a little underwhelmed by the 3D.
i have seen the Photon but i have not really considered it.
I really like HTC and want to stick with it.
How does the Motorola and Samsung stack up with HTC?

this statement is false..i personally went to sprint to pay my phone bill today and while i was there i gave the photon a test drive..there is absolutly no truth about the ram operating @512 off the dock. with that being said..the photon is a very nice phone speed wise..i imagine battery life is better cuz of dual core..i did not care for the screen or the phone as a whole...HTC are hard to compete with and i will continue to be a customer.

Hey guys, my epic 4g broke recently (hardware issue) and Sprint has offered me 2 options. First, I can wait for the Epic to ship to the nearby store, which will take until Wednesday next week. Second, I can pick up an EVO 3D from them tomorrow morning.
I really like having a keyboard like on the 4g, and I really do like the OLED screen, but the EVO has a decent LCD screen with a nice resolution (960x540) and has a dual core processor. (3D too, I guess, but my guess is I'll only play around with the 3D features)
What would you guys do if you were in my situation?

Or, if you want amazing specs, take the epic and save your upgrade for the next nexus
Never had a 3d but had an evo 4g since launch. The lcd density is nice upgrade but the phone still weighs 170 grams while as ET4G IS only 130 grams and iphone 4s is 140g. And hardware on the ET4G is newer such as the exonos is blazing compared to qualcaom chipsets.

I didn't mention this, but getting the evo won't be using my upgrade
If the Evo is on hboot 1.5, then don't get it if you want root easily. Otherwise, I think it's a worthy upgrade.

Get the EVO 3D, sell it, then you can buy another Epic 4G for about $150 and pocket the remainder for when your are upgrade eligible and use the money towards your next upgrade.
id take the epic again unless they let you pick a nexus. I went in after my 4th broken epic and they didnt so much as give me a chance to try and get a different handset, but im betting if they let you take an Evo 3d over an Epic they will let you take a nexus S.

No clue why anyone would buy the Epic touch, After what happened with this phone and its update/software issues, even if the epic touch is fast in hardware, i guarentee in 6 months when you are supposed to get your ICS update you will be regretting your purchase. Screw samsung. Only go with nexus.

This phone has had such great staying power so far..it does just a little bit of everything just good enough that i'm not tempted to change one bit yet. The only reason for me to change is improved hardware/design plus I think I'm ready to ditch the KB.

Samsung Note LTE for sprint or a quadcore.. whichever I fall in love with first!
Waiting on SGS3. Eligible in July. May just go for the Nexus if the 3 looks like a long wait on Sprint, though.
Waiting for LTE with a hardware keyboard... just don't like the idea of using up all my screen with a keyboard.
I may be waiting forever because these cheap manufacturers don't want to make them anymore.

I just got the epic last week. Running it on virgin mobile. Can't beat $25 bucks a month
Ill probably run the epic for another year or so. Its a still a great phone and a big upgrade compared to my old optimistic v.
I am still getting a Google phone... like I said before, I don't want to be pissed off by samsung's lack if updates, closed source ROM, or HTCs locked bootloaders. I would actually like a Google phone on stock... I don't care if there is 65 core... single core is fast enough and dual core is amazing. Higher on a mobile phone is just stupid until software advances.

The Epic its the first phone that I've had for more than six months and not thought " I REALLY want a new phone!" It's been almost a year and a half now. I might upgrade to the G Nex if/ when out comes to Sprint or a quad core lte...

I see little reason to upgrade to something else until LTE is deployed in my area now that CM9 is on the horizon.
I might finally be ready for a phone without a keyboard. The Galaxy Nexus keeps calling me.
I will never get rid of my epic but if sprint gets galaxy note2 I will have to upgrade and keep epic for fun. Even better would be a nexus note.

EVO 4G will be right next the C64 and its 64K ram expansion unit and tape drive within my personal museum. As for next phone..who knows.. too early to tell.
Is HTC gonna get hit with all the patent mess from Apple? I lost track of what was going on but last I saw, Apple was suing over a patent on the ability to click on a phone number within a webpage and have it dial the number. At the time, it wasn't going to affect imports for a few months. Anyone heard anything?
The galaxy nexus looks pretty appealing. Although I would like to stick with HTC. Hopefully they come out with a phone that has a screen like the nexus or the epic touch.
I get one more Premier Gold 1-year upgrade on April 1st. If the Galaxy Nexus is out by then, I'll get one. Otherwise, probably the Epic Touch 4G.
I wish HTC would come out with something hot between now and then.

Gold Premier (10+ years) customers were given one last one-year upgrade if they were close to their date. Don't remember the time frame, but my acct reflects this. Got my EVO last April, and I'm eligible 04/01/2012.
They ended one-year upgrades for Silver Premier customers last April. Gold customers ended 12/31/2011, with one more upgrade granted.
