If you're about to ask me if I've considered an ssd instead, know this. I may be an idiot, but I'm not that stupid. My IQ may be around 30 or so, but It's just high enough for me to figure out that an ssd is a much better option than an hdd. Jesus christ, stop asking this question already. The reason I've opted to put in an hdd instead of an ssd is because of cost. It cost me about $50 to for a 750GB hdd. An ssd with the same capacity will cost an arm and a leg. Go ahead and look that up.
So, please, if you're going to suggest I use an ssd, consider reading the above paragraph. And if you're going to email me telling me what an idiot I am for using an hdd instead of an ssd (like that turd a couple days ago), then also consider pushing the donate button right below my name so I have enough money to buy an ssd with comparative capacity. Goodness...

I'm making a new thread because this is an entirely different mod than the other one.
So, I've added 2 more battery cells parallel to the other ones, doubling the capacity while maintaining the voltage. in addition, I've also added a 750 GB HDD.
Unlike the other mod, which suffered no deformation, there is a little bit of deformation in this mod. I can still close the netbook form. And if you look, you can see the curvature of the keyboard dock. It's not very noticeable, but if you know it's there you can definitely see it. Here are the pictures. I am currently testing out the battery capacity to see if it's really doubled like it's suppose to. We'll see, I guess.
By the way, while I am very happy with my result, despite the slight deformity to my dock, I definitely recommend against this for anyone else.
Speaking of which, how do I recalibrate the battery indicator? Looks like it's dropping at exactly the same speed as before.

I'm new to tablets, but on my Android phone you can run a app like battery calibration and it deletes batterystat.bin file.
Btw, cool mods I would be really interested in double battery.

It only affects the tablet battery. I can't get a definite answer from all my searches how to recalibrate the dock battery.
Aw, the deformation is a no in my book, but I think the mods themselves are awesome. If I tried this, I think I'd go for more batteries because I can't find enough stuff to fill my 32g usd cards anyway.. (or a secret compartment storing unmentionables).

I don't blame you. The deformation is hardly noticeable, but it is there. I'm actually happy with this setup. The slight deformation doesn't bother me. As long as I can still close the netbook form.
Now, if only I could find a way to calibrate the dock battery.

Well, I gotta figure out a way to recalibrate the dock battery first. It's dropping at exactly the same rate as when I only had 2 cells. Can't freakin' figure out how to do this.
By the way, I think I saw that you said your method is more refined and less risky now in another thread; is the method different, or have you refined your skills? If the method is different, could you post a tutorial? I think I might attempt it after I find out if I got into any good grad programs.. (because then I will know whether or not I will have some amount of money to burn for no damn reason ).

Both, actually. Before, I was both stumbling around blind and doing things in not so efficient and safe way. My soldering skills have improved greatly and I have also refined my procedure to involve no risk at all. It's all in the wrist, man.

Ok, my conscience got the better of me. There is something I left out of the photos. A key ingredient to making this whole mod work. Without this very simple but critical thing that is covered up by other components in the dock, the mod might as well be a piece of brick. It took thousands of hours and millions of dollars of research to figure out this one small piece of modification to make the whole thing work. My dock was sitting there for almost a month dead before I brought it back to life with this thing I'm speaking of.
In other words, don't try this. Trust me, you'll regret it not knowing what this thing I'm talking about is. It took me a whole month to figure out this thing. Thinking back, my goodness, the solution was so simple. And yet it took me a whole month to solve it.

I just figured out how to make the deformation go away. Damn, why didn't I think of this before. I'm too lazy now to open it up and apply the fix.
Are you not worried about charging two separate battery cells without a load balancing charger? At least from the RC world, this is a big negative. Fire can be no fun.

Exactly right, lion/lipo batteries need to be balanced in charge otherwise you will burn out the batteries and in extreme cases, BURN the batteries.
Having said that, many/most of the lipo batteries I have worked with in electronics have balancing circuits per "cell" so in reality you can simply add them like any battery and they take care of themselves. If lipo batteries were purchased without that circuit, then they are very cheap to buy and add as well.
I havent cracked the transformer, and dont plan to because the stock battery life is plenty for me; however, I have increased the battery capacity on several laptops, and other types of devices, and the first key is to ensure the cells are balanced before connecting them together, then ensuring you have a balancing circuit to EACH cell otherwise over time they will come out of balance (normal use and internal resistance). Once you have done those two things, you can connect them and use them.
Now, the other point is the meters. I have no idea about the transformer but most battery meters work simply on the voltage on the batteries and assume the discharge in a linear fashion. This is rarely true for batteries, but it is simple, cheap and gives you an idea about how much power you have left. Sometimes this is error is covered by software that "maps" the battery discharge rate and gives you a "real" battery left level. So to the point of all that paragraph, once you balance the batteries, connect them and run through a few full charge/discharge cycles, you will likely find that the meter will catch up.
A point of caution, the word "cell" does not refer to a nicely packaged lipo battery with two wires. A cell is a single constructed unit that is usually 3.7v in the lipo world (different chemistries of batteries will have different voltages). If you added a pair of 3.7v (1s1p) batteries in parellel with a pair of 7v batteries (2s1p) you could really confuse the battery meters.

I just redid the mod. Unfortunately, it was 3am and I forgot to take pictures before I closed up the dock. But basically what I did was charged both batteries up to 100% and connected them in parallel as is with their balancing circuits. Before, I took the cells out and added them to the circuit of the other one. This time I kept the circuits and added the circuits together.
It seems to work. The new battery pack is recognized. We'll see what happens later.

What is the capacity of the stock battery? I am impressed by how long the stock one lasts, but would much rather have a super capacity battery in there for an even longer run time.

Actually there is only one, but this one is 2cell battery. Li-Po batteries come in cells, one cell is 3,7V. So you can build them like legos. You can add cells in series to increase voltage (1S 3,7V, 2S 7,4V, 3S 11,1V) or in parallel to increase endurance (1S 3,7V 2500mAh + in parallel 1S 3,7V 2500mAh = 1S2P 3,7V 5000mAh).

Theres two 3260 bats. In teardowns it looks as though its one because both are together.

It's annoying, isn't it? So many people today just don't know the difference between a cell and a battery. Makes you wonder what they hell they teach in science class these days...
For those who get confused... A battery is ONLY a battery when there are multiple cells inside, linked either in series for parallel. If there's just one cell, then it's NOT a battery, it's a cell.

They didn't teach about batteries in my science classes in highschool, nor in college. That was all in an electronics class I took for my ANSI certification.
Good luck buying one, minimum order is 100. I wonder what price per unit is, I'll email them and check details. I've made orders through them before, it's not too bad.

Do you know of of a USA supplier for a wifi antenna, I tried moving the antenna and yeah our antenna blows

For those who have bad battery life first charge your phone fully while on then turn phone off...plug the phone back into charger while it's off it will be a red light charge until green sometimes it takes another 20 mins .When done turn phone on and plug charger in again it will drop to 99% when 100 plug out now u have a fully calibrated battery..I am on the new firmware btw

Actually it's not b.s I noticed that around 80% my phone would drop down quickly to 70% and 30% would drop 3% instead of 1 so I did this method knowing that my battery was not fully charged.since I have done this no more quick drops...instead of saying b.s why not try it first then come to a conclusion smh

Instead of clowing u guys should try it..listen phone says fully charged for some but in reality it is not it will rapidly drop for example 90% but drops to 79% rapidly or drops 3% for no reason while screen is on is due to battery not fully calibrated/charged ..This happens from flashing roms sometimes this happens if you have battery issues try this method ..

I used this method a couple of years ago on my DHD. It made a huge difference! i forgot all about this. I'll do it again later.

Yeah, I do this on my galaxy note and sometinmes on my new one.
When 100,% through normal charging turn phone off and begin charge again. It will charge just that bit further.
One thing the note does better is thaat when off and charging you get a battery indicator on screen, not so with the one.

Man that's total bull...... only 2 circles required
To be real for a minute if I may..... if you monitor the current draw by the phone when charging you will see that when the green led lights the phone is still pulling 60-70mA from the charger so it's still charging and can take a while longer for that draw to fall to 0mA. At this point it's fully charged.
Charging it as the OP suggests does actually allow this extra top up.
I actually think this does help with proper calibration a bit. Not sure why people are acting like children here.

In this case we seem to be talking about "battery life per charge cycle" and people should just be aware seeking improvement in this area usually comes at the expense of a different kind of battery life, ie "battery life per phone".
I personally am one of those who is a little irritated by the non-replaceable battery on the One because I intend to keep the phone for many years. This applies to almost nobody else I realize, but for me this thread is a helpful summary of the exact steps I need to *avoid* if I want to get the longest lifetime (measured in years, not minutes) out of the battery.

I only needed to do it once...for regular charging I recommend charging while off then plug it out turn on and charge will drop to 99% when plugged in charge until light is green..or you can charge normal after this point your battery stats should be good

actually i'm totally cool with doing this procedure every once in a while as a way to just what it says, get a few extra minutes of battery life. hell, if very precise runtime estimates are important to you and this helps calibrate that, great. i'm all for that too. i actually *have* tried something like this and my phone didnt die and i'm sure i got a little extra run time that day.
i just wouldn't do it *every* day.
one of the findings in another thread around here (something about battery "health") was the battery ages quicker at higher voltages such as those used towards the end of the charging cycle. if you are willing to constrain yourself to charging the phone to *less* than 80% capacity (ie the opposite of what this thread is about) you will double the useful life of the actual LiOn (or LiPolymer or whatever) material in the phone.
that is all. not trying to discourage anyone from *ever* doing this procedure, just explaining why i actually strive to do the opposite most of the time.

Known fact... it is impractical to FULLY charge up a battery while is is in use (hence, being drained). Plain and simple physics at work here and I can vouch for this based on the many years I worked in the Navy charging, repairing, replacing, and rebuilding naval vessel batteries. Granted these are not huge deep cycle batteries but the charging principles are the same.
As as matter of fact, just did the method the OP was kind enough to suggest to us and it worked like a charm. Noticed a higher mv reading on my battery! Not much but I will take it. Who would have figured on that...

As fun as it is to mock, this most likely does work. HTC seem to be pretty bad at making battery algorithms, never found myself having to do this on the galaxy nexus or nexus 4. But my battery drops to 85 darn fast now and I'm pretty sure this will help. I remember this was helpful on the desire and desire HD too.

Now I don't know how it is For S7/Edge or Samsung devices but I previously owned several HTC devices. The last I had was One S and it could accomodate the battery from One XL (same size but bigger capacity). Many have tried and replaced it but even the new capacity was shown correctly, phone wasn't using it at full. After researches it came out that, for effectively using a bigger capacity battery it was needed a new kernel compiled to make use of the new battery capacity.
My point is that, you might need that as well here and I really doubt that anyone can compile from source a kernel for Exynos that can contain such changes as I know that sources are proprietary not open. You might fit a bigger capacity battery but it could be that you won't benefit from it's increased size

There are reference files in the kernel ...
They reference battery capacity...
They are based off of a capacity % value
Basically an of/if command ... so in theory...
(Update: the theory was correct)
And a framework.res edit did suffice.
The file inside of framework-res res/xml/power_profile.xml
referenced a 3600mah battery ...
And the purpose of this is of course...
an aftermarket , fully synced , and properly programmed battery @ larger capacity 4200mah
To track all stats natively in any android rom
I use my device pretty heavy with it....
Background youtube, pandora, games, etc...
Stock S7 edge kernel/boot.img , modified build.prop (TeKHd Rom)

You will also need tools to do so... (watch youtube for a guide on the hardware change)
Once you have your battery installed... you need to be rooted to make the edits... there are two references you need to change (in images i posted)
After the edits... run your battery 99% dead... do a calibration (apk on app store can do this)
Then let it die.. charge it to 100% while the device is off

This is my second time purchasing the same aftermarket battery... first time I installed it into a G928A (s6 edge plus)
Now ive installed it in this device... ive gone several months without seeing charge/discharge loss...
But heres the next question... say... you go through 2 batteries a year... 15$ each....
Would that not be worth the extra phone on time anyways?

Any battery lithium... copper core... can overheat and cause what happened to the 7 line...
And this device claims to be water "resistant" ... but people were testing new units and ruining cameras... so...
I went with a ghostek atomic 2.0 case ...

They do make the adheasive with backglass replacement... but im content with my device ...
Longer batter... no overheating issues (2nd phone using them)
After doing the edits and the battery swap with the battery sync... big gains..
I Would Do this Experiment Again

you can break out ohms law and calculate power
( find something that runs off the same voltage , and run the tests yourself for discharge rate @ hours )

im sorry my english isn't that good but i think the capacity of this battery is not related to the user nor there are many variables.
Probably i didnt used the right words but what i was asking for is for example:
Connect the battery to a constant current load and measure the time it takes to discharge the battery to a certain voltage.
Capacity in Ah = Current in Amperes * Time in hours​
that would give a good overview of the real capacity without using a fishy app or harassing a post

Just a thought, but couldn't you just remove the camera.apks and any files related to GPS? I would imagine that if the files are either not present or disabled that relate to camera and GPS, I would imagine if those things do not work on your phone then big G would not be able to access them either as the files needed are present... hope this makes sense. That way no hardware removal needed.
That being said... an extra battery would be cool

agreed but ive done both alrdy to b safe, they could push/sideload wirelessly the files needed to use camera modules my main focus is the dual battery mod any input on the wiring set up unfortunately i dont no much bout batterys to pull this off
as of now with almst perfect conditions i can get round 8hrs SOT but i need more, mmmm battery whore, 8hrs SOT wit 23hrs phone idle, heavy use overclocked games PSP emulater 2.5hrs SOT wit 18hrs phone idle and min. use 3.5hrs SOT 7-9days phone idle not bad but i need better dual better

Not really too much. As all the fuctionality is still there. The only thing missing is the UI. You could still activate it by command line. Couldnt snap a pic or anything but you could activate the camera and then stream it to where ever if there is a data connection.

Not at all. There are some that really do think that the Government is too wrapped up in our lives. There are also companies that require your cell phone to not have a camera.
Too many people these days have no idea about privacy. They have freely given it up. It is good to see someone that looks around at the world he lives in.
Why do you think the government cares about spying on you, specifically? You sound intelligent, did you discover something you weren't supposed to? The government probably isn't the entity you should be worrying about. Walmart secretly owns Google. They are trying to achieve consumer omnipotence. They watch and listen to everything you do and say just so they know what products to sell you.
If you are this worried about it, you should know that at any point, they could send a signal to your phone causing it to go into "kill mode". The battery will send out a high intensity discharge of 50amps causing your heart to stop. If you are lucky enough to survive this, the battery explodes in an attempt to destroy the evidence. They haven't got the system working perfectly yet, that's why we saw all those note 7s blowing up.
They can send the kill mode signal to any phone, even non smart phones, so you probably shouldn't carry a phone. Or just buy the products they advertise to appease them. Your choice, I've probably said too much.

As for me. IT is part of the job. I work in many places that requires them to check on you from time to time. Heck the types of places I work even can dictate what type of device you can own and have with you. You also have to understand that there are things you can do to put yourself on thier watch list. It really isnt to hard to do really.
I perfect example is I was helping my son with a presentation on religious history and after downloading the Quran and was questioned about it less then a week later

You have no idea. That act was the dumbest thing people did and all because of the heat of the moment. They didnt read it and then got mad about it when they saw they gave the gov the right to monitor them.
You have not been around for long huh? The FEMA chip has been in devices for years. Search around. There are plenty of talks about it. Not sure if the FCC blueprints are still on the site but worth a look. There was a huge deal about it as it showed at one time to be connected to the mic and GPS moduals. Mind you this only applies to the US. This is part of the reason why our devs here prefer to get the EU models of devices.

For the batteries, connect them in parallel. + to +, - to -. I've done it on other phones and it works fine. I'm not sure how it would react with quickcharge, but I think it would be fine. I've actually been considering doing it on this phone as my battery is starting to show it's age. If I do, I will 3D print a frame and soft outer case much like how the ZeroLemon battery kit for the Note 3 was done.
Since you seem unsure about parallel vs series wiring, please read up on proper handling for lipo cells. I would not want to see anyone make their own Note 7 firebomb.
If you put the charging coil behind a battery, it won't work. Might as well save space and remove it. You might be able to relocate it to the outside battery.
If you are really concerned about GPS and camera, you should disconnect them or otherwise damage them. Can't do much about the mic though. If the GPS is marked, you can probably find a datasheet for it, then just cut the trace for power. Practice on an old PCB if you haven't done this before, you can cause serious damage to the board if you do it wrong. If a state level actor or good hacker is involved, they can still get rough location via cell towers, wifi IDs, and Stingrays. If you are really concerned, you should probably not carry a phone at all, or keep a metalized pouch with you to put it in (faraday cage).
After Snowden, and having worked in some environments, I get where people are coming from with it. In some cases it's not that people are doing anything wrong, they just want to have more control over their privacy. Not everyone wants their lives all over the internet, and there's nothing wrong with that.

my question is where to put the bridge to hav both batteries usable do i bridge the batteries together which i think would create a charging loop [charging battery 1 would then charge battery 2 until both full] then wen disconnected the phone would still show charging state
[i think] until battery 2 was depleted
i could b wrong now what bout the voltage comin from 2 batteries the battery outputs 3.7v give or tak now doubling that 7.4v should fry the voltage regulators if any present no?

That's not how it works. Batteries in parallel charge and discharge together. The voltage does not change. Batteries in series adds the voltages together. In parallel the voltage is the same but the current and capacity go up.
To the phone, batteries in parallel look like one battery. They do self-regulate/charge against each other, but the phone can't see that. For safety reasons, you need to make sure the voltage of the two batteries is similar, within about 0.1 volts, before connecting them. If you connected a fully charged battery to an empty one, the worst case, the full battery would dump power into the empty one trying to fill it to the same voltage. This would likely destroy the empty battery as it would not be able to handle a charge rate that high. It might also damage the full one, as cell phone batteries are not designed for high current discharge.
I have installed many apps to find out the capacity of the battery all say 3100mAh. I installed and updated several versions of the O.S. from Marshmallow to Nougat thinking that maybe the OS were not showing the accurate battery size. But nothing...
As I've seen some videos tearing the phone apart and shows that indeed it has a 3100mAh only INSTEAD OF THE 3250mAh that ZTE claims it to have.
I am using the A2017G version bought from Amazon Germany. And it bugs and find it irritating that ZTE might be lying to us Axon users. Perhaps I'm wrong but.... I had to check with them.
After several emails and communication with ZTE they sent me this reply, which still DOESN'T ANSWER MY CONCERNS and their reply MAKES NO SENSE to me and I am an electronic engineer. I would like to hear from anyone who might have the same issue and/or just want to add some info. Thanks guys. Here's the reply from ZTE:

We are really sorry for the delay in response.
This email is with regards to the issue you had forwarded us about the wrong capacity battery that you have received.
We would like to inform you that, perhaps our concerned team has already informed you about the results they found from the test they performed.

The battery has two nominal values, one is the nominal value and the typical value. The A7 battery has a nominal value of 3250 mHA and a typical value of 3140 mHa.
As you mentioned by applying the check to the battery is 3100mhA, the possible reason:
1. Battery inspection application of the inspection program related to the application of detection methods affect the detection accuracy, the most accurate battery test is through a professional battery capacity test equipment to check, A7 battery capacity. The amount is measured by the battery capacity test equipment capacity, capacity is no problem.
2, The battery capacity itself will increase with the use of time, the battery capacity will drop, according to the standard battery cycle 500 times, the battery capacity reduced to 80% of the original qualified.

This email is with regards to the issue you had forwarded us about the wrong capacity battery that you have received.
We would like to inform you that, perhaps our concerned team has already informed you about the results they found from the test they performed.
However incase they haven't then, this is what they had to say about the battery issue.
The battery has two nominal values, one is the nominal value and the typical value. The A7 battery has a nominal value of 3250 mHA and a typical value of 3140 mHa.
As you mentioned by applying the check to the battery is 3100mhA, the possible reason:
1. Battery inspection application of the inspection program related to the application of detection methods affect the detection accuracy, the most accurate battery test is through a professional battery capacity test equipment to check, A7 battery capacity. The amount is measured by the battery capacity test equipment capacity, capacity is no problem.
2, The battery capacity itself will increase with the use of time, the battery capacity will drop, according to the standard battery cycle 500 times, the battery capacity reduced to 80% of the original qualified.

Oh my dear God you get 150 mAh less! What is this madness?
Okay jokes aside, the battery capacity is actually 3140 mAh. I've seen this number before buying the phone, on reviews and one of the official pages, and when I bricked it, I took it apart and the battery says 3140.
Now a couple of things. assuming that the battery is actually 3140, they are saying that the battery has 110 mAh more. They are stating that the battery is 3.5% bigger than it is in reality. Is it worth spending all that time and effort writing the OP, asking ZTE for explanations, even watching disassembly videos, because the battery is 3.5% smaller?
And what do you plan to do, turn it back because you'll have 12.6 minutes less SOT?

Yes, your jokes are hilarious indeed. I'm talking about the principles here man. They're claiming something it isn't true. False advertising.
When you go to a McDonald's and they give you a half empty box of fries (which sometimes happens) do you just take it? At then end of the day, you, me and the buyers in general pay for the price that a company asks for. I don't know about you but when I buy something I expect it to be in good condition and fit for purpose. Or at least with the same specs as they advertise...
Whether it has 3.5% less capacity or not - that is NOT THE POINT. Point is they are advertising it incorrectly. And I HAVE TIME TO WRITE AND ADDRESS THE ISSUE TO THEM.
Yes, usually what I would do is return it, I have no problem returning stuff if they don't meet my expectations and Amazon is usually good regarding refunds. But I would not return it in this case, because as you correctly said, 110mAh less won't make a huge difference. But again, it's the principles man.
One other thing is if you read ZTE's reply, it doesn't make a lot of sense. It all sounds a bunch of excuses to me. Oh! Sorry, unlike me, you probably won't have time to read it.

Hell they're not giving you half the capacity advertised - just 3.5% less, that's my point. You wouldn't bother if they gave you 3.5% less fries would you. i guess that this would be relevant if they actually shipped with 3000 mAh. False advertisement would be more like what has been going down with the OnePlus 3 and 5. They make their phones go full throttle to get the best results on benchmark apps, and they appear at the top of the list because most new phones have the same 835 anyways. Or with the Huawei P10s where they claimed UFS 2.1 and changed that on the last week, and you could even get eMMC storage

Both capacities are correct. If you fill it up with, say, QC3 or a 2A charger, it will go closer to the 3140 mark, but if you charge it with a 1A charger, it will go closer to the 3250 mark. All modern lithium-ion batteries do this. Using you analogy, it would be like filling the fry container (? whatever it's called) with the fry container filler (? I know this is wrong) really fast and getting, say, 100 fries, versus taking 10 seconds and getting 104.
I feel like as this device gets older, the expectations in general get unrealistically higher and higher... Especially for a device that's less than $300 with a 2K super amoled display and periodic fw updates... ?

Whoa that was a deep analogy
Batteries typically have two capacities listed: a minimum (min) and a typical (typ). All companies tend to advertise the typical capacity, even if the battery you have is closer to the minimum.
For example, the LG G3 is advertised everywhere as having a 3000mAh battery (the typ size), while the battery itself has a min of 2940mAh printed on it.
Another example is the Moto G4 Play, which has a typ size of 2800mAh (which is what gets advertised), but has a 2685mAh min printed on the battery itself.
ZTE seems to have only listed the minimum capacity on the battery itself, not the typical capacity.
