[Q] Boot problem - stuck at IDEOS logo! - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hello!
Something strange happened today. I plugged the usb cable to my mobile and it couldn't connect in order to access the files from my pc.
So, i decided to restart it, in case something went wrong.
After the shutdown, it can't boot!
Actually, it boots, but it stays for ever at the IDEOS logo. :S
I can boot at the bootloader (hold Vol+,Vol- and Power until the screen turns pink) and the Clockworkmod recovery (hold Vol+ and Power) (v4.0.0.5).
I have the stock rom that this mobile came with, Android 2.2.3 from wind - Greece.
Here is something that may help. From clockworkmod i took a backup of my system and at the final step i saw this at the log:
no sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
however, the backup completed successfully.
What should i do in order to have my mobile back in working state, and if possible, without losing any data?
FYI, i also have an old backup, maybe we can take from there some files that are corrupted/damaged????
thank you in advance for your help!

Here are some more questions:
After the shutdown, it can't boot!
Did you change anything before you booted? i mean in system.
I can boot at the bootloader (hold Vol+,Vol- and Power until the screen turns pink) and the Clockworkmod recovery (hold Vol+ and Power) (v4.0.0.5).
What happens if you reinstall stock rom?

It only means that i didn't back up ext partition in your sd-card. Doesn't have effect.

I dont think there is

You can try to flash it throught cwm.

first of all, thank you for your fast reply!

no.
the last thing i did that had to do with the system was to update through market the "fing" app, but that was hours ago.

I don't know which was my stock rom. Do you know how to identify it?

as i said the backup is old, and there may be a huge data loss.
there isn't a way to repair only the boot files ?
edit:
i see in CWM that there is an option "wipe data/factory reset". Will it work?

solution found, if you encounter the same problem, please look there!

You might get more help if you rename your topic title to something more descriptive.
Second, try searching the forum; this has been discussed in numerous threads on both this forum and the developer's section, along with how to fix it.
Try the threads about the update, or dialing a certain code to force it manually (that's where I learned the timing trick to get into stock recovery on the NS). On the screen you're at, try pressing and holding power, then pressing/holding volume up, that should get you into stock recovery.
Also, if you can get into fastboot, you can fastboot flash the CWM recovery back to the device. If you made an nandroid before doing anything, you can at least go back to the device's state before you tried the update.
i could not find anything on this issue on google or here
i tried doing vol up and power, but its still at the screen, and my computer doesnt recognize my phone
use the instruction on the topic to ROOT the phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875875
and in one of the steps you can use the ADB to push a good ROM back into the phone to be re-flashed
Try just pulling the battery.
If not, you'll have to use fast boot from the SDK. Just follow the howto at the top of this forum to flash original images.
thank you so much!
i locked my bootloader again, and i've been trying to get the 2.3.1 update, but everytime i do try, it freezes at the android warning sign. i also tried installing it via rommanager when i was rooted...whats going on?
any ideas what could be wrong?

Are you able to get into Fastboot?
I wonder if part of your problem is that you relocked the bootloader. (Why'd you do that anyways? No advantage, imo.)
Fastboot oem unlock will completely wipe your phone, I mean WIPE EVERYTHING, including the sdcard (photos, music, some apps' data, etc), but such a wipe might get you back to stock firmware and stock recovery, then at least you could boot up. You could also then reflash CWM.
Before doing that, let's try this if you haven't:
Turn off phone.
Hold vol-up, then press/hold power.
You should then be in fastboot mode.
The timing's critical (on my phone anyways) for this step: Select recovery, and have your hands on the power button and volume button ready to push.
Watch the screen very closely, for a bout a half second or so, the screen will flash a box with an arrow dumping out onto the android dude. While that screen is showing, press/hold the power button, then press/hold the vol up button. Important to do the power button FIRST this time (at least it is on my phone).
You should then be able to get into the stock recovery.
Once there, maybe we can figure out where to go, but we need to know how messed up your phone is at this point.
Once in Recovery, you could try wiping cache if it's an option, then trying to reboot. Worth a shot, but not likely to work.
You could also do the factory reset wipe in there, this one shouldn't wipe your sdcard if there's anything critical/valuable on it. It will reset all your settings and logins and wipe the apps you've installed, though. Again, might let you boot up normally.

[Q] Really need help stuck at recovery screen

I just reset mytouch 4g phone and during restart the recovery screen just come out but I can't move down or up anything on the screen it just stuck..
I just update cm to version 3 of something
please I really need help on this my phone is already S-off
when I plug the phone with USB it response something by HBOOT has changed to HBOOT USB PLUG
I use Stock Rom just update Kernal only
Need more specifics. "3 of something" is too vague.
If you flashed clockwork mod recovery 3 (the text is orange) while using a stock ROM you will have issues. Clockwork 3 is for gingerbread based ROMs only.
If that is so, download CyanogenMOD 7 RC1 and try to flash it. Rebooting may help get recovery working right again. If not, and you are unable to re-flash a ROM, you will need to use fastboot to re-flash a good recovery image.

In clockwork you use the trackball to navigate. Volume buttons won't work.

no response on trackball too. it just stuck on this screen and can't move anywhere....any solution
Your attached image is of the Bootloader, not CWM Recovery.
The Bootloader is controlled by volume up / volume down to move between selections, and the power button is used to select.

You might see if the Bootloader can communicate with fastboot on your PC. If so, you will have options for un-bricking from your PC.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928370 for info on installing adb and fastboot to your PC, and using them.
Fastboot is designed to communicate with the bootloader. As far as I know, however, adb requires a functioning Android or Recovery system.

One more question, after following your advice, I found that I now can restart my phone again but when I shut down the phone and turn it on again it still stuck on bootloader screen all the times...any suggestion would be appreciate...
You can "restart my phone again" -- is it running Android at that point? If so, you can restore your phone to stock, and do a full factory reset, by putting the P15IMG.zip file on the root of your SD card and rebooting. The bootloader (if it is functional) should find it and begin the restore procedure.
Dowload, rename this, and stick it on your SD card, and reboot. If after a successful return to factory defaults, your phone still isn't working, the problem is likely not software.

[SOLVED] [Q] Huawei U8180 First time Modder Problem

[SOLVED]
I rooted this, installed clockworkmod, then went and got an cm7 dated april something 2012 u8160 rom from psyke83 website.
installed it through clockworkmod install from sd card option with success (also clicked option to backup everything).
yet when phone reboots it hangs on the blue arrow in a circle spinning around, sometimes reboots n repeats but it never goes past that.
I have tried going into recovery mode holding down volume buttons and power
and I get 1 of 2 errors:
with sd card in:
firmware update
step 1/2
unpacking
update failed
with sd card out:
purple screen.
I am a first time android modder, can someone please, please tell me how to fix this. I can access the sd card with a reader if need be to put whatever files on it that I should.
Thank you.
Start the phone by pressing volume up + power OR volume down + power. You should be able to boot to recovery with one of those combinations (other one boots to fastboot most probably). After that do the wipe data/cache and try to reboot once again.
What was wrong in the beginning was that you did not wipe data/cache. That made the CM use old OS's data files which obviously won't work.
The unpacking thing was caused by pressing volume up + volume down + power. That causes the phone to go to upgrade mode if there is an update package found.
Nope. still goes to the blue arrow circling then freezes then reboots....

You are right about me not wiping the data/cache though...
But in your phone forum, are there tutorials on how to boot to recovery? Do you have any other hard keys on the phone?
there is one other button but that didn't work either.
I cannot find a forum for Huawei model u8180 (

Hmm, would this work?
yay!!
it was volume up + power + cancel button (? maybe home button? not sure on what this button is but its the biggest).
wiped all data n cache n then it booted properly.
So the problem is solved? If you can, mark first post title with [SOLVED].

[Q] Device bootloops after messed up partition

I once tried to use geno's partition resize, and after a reboot, it cannot boot into system anymore. Stuck at the huawei logo.
Since I'm quite familiar with linux, I tried this solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1971266
However, my linux installation didn't show any drives when it's in pink screen mode, so I'm pretty much stuck here.
In Windows 8 it did show two HUAWEI Technologies device (no drivers though) in pink screen mode.
I can't access recovery mode either, holding power + vol up only does normal boot for some strange reason. Anyone can help me out here?

try put official GB dload file on sd card, then put sd card in phone press power up+power down+power...
maybe it'll help you.
I tried that too, and it still bootloops. Not much luck.
Go to recovery and wipe everything. Then, reboot recovery, and then try partitioning again.
I can't get into recovery by pressing power + vol up. It just does normal boot (which bootloops).
If there would be any other way to get into recovery (such as via ADB or update.app) would be highly appreciated.

Yes, you can boot into recovery via adb:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
But, you cannot use that until your phone is booted up.
If that doesn't work, you can follow these instructions to hard reset your phone:
http://www.hard-reset.com/huawei-u8800-ideos-x5-hard-reset.html
Good Luck.
I can't get it to do the hard reset either. It just boots normally, aside from the bootloop.
I believe I need to fix the partition first before I try to reinstall stock. I hear that stock doesn't work with custom partitions. Which is why I'd prefer to at least get some access to the device via USB in order to fix it.
Ah well. It's a failing device anyway. Even before the brick the camera doesn't work anymore, regardless of which ROM I choose. Maybe it's time to move on for me.

Well, I tried this too (in fact I stated it in the first post) but pink screen mode isn't showing any device (I typed in "dmesg" in the Linux Terminal, none is found).
I appreciate your help, though. If I can solve the detection problem, I should be able to recover my phone using this method. I'd be happy to share some logs if it helps.

Hey, this is my first post well here it goes
Step 1 :- Format the sd card and put dload folder in it ( you'll get it from the official rom zip file)
Step 2 :- press and hold vol+ & vol- and then power button, it'll start upgrading
Step 3 :- now here is the tricky part!!! i was stuck here too and gone half mad well, let it reboot it will format cache etc and then bootloops, now turn off the device and then turn on pressing vol+ and power button, or u can try by pressing home, vol+ and power button, u'll b in recovery mode i.e in official rom builtin i guess.
Step 4 :- once in recovery, select reset factory default and clear partition cache, and then reboot!!!! Voila u will b able to finally boot successfully...
Now listen very carefully, u got only one chance here, cause if u reboot ur device again then bootloops will start again so in the first go, root the device by superoneclick and then install recovery i guess u knw all that and then u will be able to return to stock rom by flashing... once u've installed CWM then u r good to go bootloop wont effect ya SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH THOUGH

Are you sure you DELETED all of the partitions? I've never heard of that option in TWRP. Though it would brick the device.
I've checked all squares when wiping and deleted all...then after reboot tablet was stuck at Samsung logo and I couldn't even power it off...somehoI w I did manage to get into TWRP,dunno how,I keep on pressing key combos and when geting into TWRP I reflashed LIneageOS...
What option of deleting all partitions does?
I did check all 5 squares when wiping. :/
I thought I deleted TWRP too.

First of all, you didn't "delete" the partitions, you merely "wiped" them clean. When you do this, there is no longer any ROM installed, so there is no system to boot. But that shouldn't prevent you from booting to recovery or download. BTW, TWRP has no option to wipe the recovery partition. IOW, itself.

Because there was no OS to accept the instruction from pressing the power button. I don't have your model tablet, but typically with Tab A tablets, you need to hold Vol down and power for about 7 - 10 seconds and the tablet will turn off but then turn right back on. But if you switch from Vol down to Vol up as soon as the screen turns off, and keep holding that a power, it should boot into recovery. If you just keep holding power and Vol down, it should boot to download mode.
