any led/sound notifications - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Great device, 1 day old!
I wonder if there's ANY kind of notification i can enable for sms, email, missed call, etc. Be it led or sound..

noLED is simply the best notification app for all Samsung AMOLED phones

Not sure about noLED but I tried iLED and it was a serious battery drainer.
It causes wakelocks to operate constantly which drains the battery.
The way it operates using the screen, although at low power, mean the device is virtually always on.
This has promise: bLED
There are built in sound notifications.

I use noled daily so i dont have to flip the screen on every time i get back into the truck, which can be up to 40 times a day.

A brilliant idea for an APP

So, I have a Behold II and noticed this damn thing doesn't have a notification LED. So i was wondering.... can someone make the following app:
When you receive a text, there is no LED to show you got one, so you constantly need to look at your phone...
If someone can make an app where when you receive a text... your screen slowly glows? that would be pretty neet. Let me know if theoretically this is possible.
Imagine, phone on your desk, you get up, come back and its slowly fading on and off... (i know this will be a battery killer).
Handcent sms has a funtion that turns your phone on when you get a text...
The problem with that is that it might turn on the screen momentarily but then it'll auto sleep again in a minute or less. I want to know if someone can make something where when we get a text, the screen just faintly "glows" white.... a slow fade in and out until you grab your phone.
Ideas would be:
- Make the screen fade in and out slowly (a faint glow, almost like the Flashlight App, but faint... not BAM LIGHT lol)
- Make a settings to be able to choose the color you want
- Make a setting to pick the time of day you don't want it to glow (save battery). So if I set "no glow" from 12AM - 8AM and i get a text at 3AM my phone won't glow cause it'll glow all morning till i wake up and drain all battery.
Any ideas?
If you make the screen glow until you grab your phone, this would kill the battery. Just imagine receiving a text at 1 am while u r sleeping, when you wake up your battery would be unecessarily used up.

thats why i wrote one of the settings for time frame... a "NO GLOW" time...
so you can set NO GLOW from 12AM - 8AM (while you're sleeping) and if you get a text nothing happens... It only works at the hours you choose.
Sounds like a cool app and for those that have hearing problems kinda even more important
In case this never materializes you could turn the notification reminders on so it could beep or vibrate after the initial notification

Thats how I have it now but it only vibrates once every so often... I could use more of a visual notification specially while at work... phone goes on the desk and I don't always feel the vibration

Camera LED as notification

Is there any way (app, reg hack) to make rear LEDs blink on missed call or message? Front green/amber LED is too small and often hard to see. Battery consumption may be a problem, but rear LED doesn't have to blink as often; quick flash (e.g. 100ms) every 30s would be ok.
The developer of TorchButton might be able to help you.
Search the forums on that name and send him a PM.
the idea is wicked
how come no one ever thought of this
That´d be totally cool. And worth a donation.
"Whoa, your mobile´s cam got insane....! -No, I just got a text "
Can see it being a big battery drain if your not around to dismiss it.
+1 for this
Great idea!
Camera light or maybe light of hardware buttons..? Would be cool!

Light of hardware buttons would be very cool too..
Yes, hardware buttons light would also be nice. PMed TorchButton dev, hope he can help...
+1 to this idea! and the hardware button for the light although making it one of your quick links is fine

I got your PM.
I'm sure this is possible, but it would probably create a battery drain while notifications are busy. This is because the device must be in unattended mode (not in standby, display off). Unattended mode is required as the flashlight and the keypad light don't stay enabled if the device is in standby. Let alone be able to make it blink with an interval.
So, while there is a notification (i.e. missed call or unread text), battery drain would go up like at least 50%.

Thank you for research on the topic, and your reply. Too bad it can't work in standby.

[Q] Light flow battery drain??

I have noticed that light flow wakes up the device lots of times and the ratio of my phones deep sleep and awake is almost 50-50 when light flow is installed... is anyone else facing this problem too??? i really love the app and i wanna use it but cant sacrifice battery for the app..
how do you expect light flow to work if it doesnt wake the device? it has to, to check for notifications. do you use that many notifications?
I know it has to partially wake the device for the notifications but my notifications are not that many and as i said the awake time is too much more ... thats why i asked if its the reason keeping the device awake..
Well only one way to find out. Uninstall it and see if it helps.

Seems like the OP already knows its Lightflow causing the wakes.
Have a read of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19804068&postcount=8. Its an old post so not sure if it still applies.

In most cases the flash LED driver is small integrated circuit which works apart of the system. This one for Nexus 4 as example: LM3559. After the notification is received system wakes up, then LightFlow reconfigures the LED driver basing on pending notifications (change colors and flash frequency). After that processor can go back to sleep, the LED notifications would show anyway.
Other story when you configure it for multiple color notifications (e.g. Gmail and Calendar event notified). Then system need to wake up every time LED config need to be updated. The power consumption will be much higher.

Light Flow Battery Drain

Is anyone else noticing high battery consumption with Light Flow? My last charge screen used 12% and Light Flow used 11%. CPU Total for Light Flow - 4h 32m and it used 371 mAh. Compared to 412mAh for the screen.
I have lightflow installed and do not have this problem. Try looking further into the settings?
I have it installed and no issues
I
My battery drain isn't THAT bad where Light Flow has almost the same battery drain as the screen but I did notice through the first three days that it always seems to be the second biggest culprit of battery drain next to the screen. I'm using the Lite version. Not sure if others are or not and if that has anything to do with it but I never saw Light Flow near the top of battery drain ever on my Nexus 5.
hmm, light flow isn't showing up in my battery usage and i've receive multiple notifications using light flow
Same here. Using the full version, and noticing hardly any battery drain on it. In fact, it's never shown above 0% yet.
I used it in my S3, device never went to sleep while Light Flow WAS running. I had wake lock issues with Light Flow
I haven't been using it enough yet to see any actual stats, but the persistent notification does seem to constantly make the active display light up which I'm sure will cause an impact
I have the paid version of Light Flow with tons of notifications setup in it... no battery drain issues here. Battery life has actually been incredible.
if you don't install LightFlow, will the Nexus 6P still flash the LED notification light for things like emails, or missed call, or text, etc?

Yes it should, but you have to check "pulse notification light" under sound and notifications in the system options.

Right, that's what LightFlow gives you, the ability to recognize the type of notification just by blinking LED without waking the phone.

Energy ring, holey light, good lock or energy light+??

I have Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus however i am unable to identify app i can settle for cutout notification.
I have used Energy ring however it does not let you change until you buy the application for battery indicator but it does not have notification settings.
Holey light had so many setting options that i got confused and uninstalled the app
Good lock screenshots are in chinese hence i do not know what exactly it does
Energy light+ looks good but not installed to check as of now.
Which one are you using and which one you removed?
I dropped the $3 for Energy Ring. I don't need a notification light as I have my Gear S3 for notification. Don't regret the extra features. If $3 is too much, sign up for Google Rewards (taking surveys). You'll have $3 in no time.
Holey Light is the Holy Grail of Notification as Poor Sammy ditched our favourite Notification LED

Yes, it does. Why don't you just give it a try? It is the closest solution, yet.
Try Holely...
Holey Light all the way...
I paid for Energy Light. I love it. I use Good lock (with Quick Star) to remove the battery icon and only leave the percentage on. I use Holey light for the AOD notifications but I honestly don't think it makes that much of a difference and I don't think i'll miss it. I will keep Energy Ring though! lol
AOD-Edge Lighting app for me , very easy to make it work
