I don't think have any risk, i heard some peoples had bootloop, but i didn't have such problem.
It is just a memory management.
bricked my phone doing this
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
every rom has supercharger
Very, very high risk,i install it,first my phone get little faster, but when i turn it off & on i experienced hardbricked, dont know why?
Just create backup before everything , try it and see does it work and does your X8 has better performance.

Hi guys,
I finally got my Desire Z today, I have root it with visionary 14 without a problem.
Now that it is root I tried to overclock it, but I cant overclock it more than 800 mhz.
Is this normal or do I need to do something more?
Thanks a lot in advance

you will need to install either a custom rom (which will have an overclocking kernel) or just a overclocking kernel (bother of these options require s-off and custom recovery)
or you can push the overclocking modules to the phone, however you will lose this and have to re-do each time you reboot the phone.
Thanks for the answers

Does it really makes a difference to overclock it to 1ghz??
Well i oc to 1.4ghz and it really smoothens it out it heavy load situations. Newsrob with tons of news is really quickly updating now.brwsr and opera mobile is dazzling fast with wifi n. Im really fond of it.

I don't think so. If you follow the oc method offered earlier by someone here, the oc sticks, it does not undo itself.
Correct.

Nice reading.
That is an overclocking kernel just like I said before, so I am correct.

First, I would acknowledge the great work HCDR has done !
With that done, I would like to resolve some of my doubts.
I just flashed CM7 and then 4.1 kernel of HCDR.Jacob.
SetCPU allows me to set max CPU speed of 768.. I keep it at 691 with on-demand scaling, but it automatically reverts back to 591 over a period of time.
Can anyone tell me why this happens ?!
Also, any insight on how this modes work would be appreciated.
If I want to manually want to force my phone to operate at a certain speed, how do I do that ?
Thanks,
P
If u are using CM7 why are using SetCPU?
CM7 has it's own OC settings features.. settings>> cyanogenmod settings>>>performance>>>cpu settings
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA Premium App
Why are you flashing HCDR kernel? It's not necessary to do that anymore in CM7.

Thanks. I did not know that.
Is there anyway, I can revert back to original CM7 kernel. Coz I already flashed that kernel. Does it even make a difference ?!
One more thing, what CPU governor should be chosen ?!
I would want my phone to be auto-OCed when I play games but DCed when idle.
Would "on-demand" be a good choice ?! Or "smartass" is better ?

Hello guys, i have a doubt about this "TV effect" that appears when i lock the screen or press a button to appear the unlock the screen. So this is some kind of problem? I can change it? That effect appears in Froyo 2.2.9 too.
Thanks for help!
I'm using FroyoPro v25 by Irakkarl
It is not a problem or anything.. You can off the effect if you want in Settings>CM Settings>Display.

But on my version of Froyo doesn't have this shortcut only Settings>CM Settings>FroyoPro Settings,Application Settings,Input Settings,Performance Settings, Performance Settings, Sound Settings, User Interface, Spare Parts and Simcard Tool Kit
What doubt? Does it bothers you in some way? Thats a beam ported from CM7 since the froyo you are using is the successor infamous ROM by doixanh.

Yes it really bothers me! It's like a damaged screen, can someone help to remove this if this is possible?
Well, you can't turn it off in Froyo ROMs. dx had to do a lot of changes to make it work on Froyo.
You can turn this effect off only in CM7 ROMs, try GingerDX or MiniCM7
infamous, deedii?
Why infamous?

Whick kernel are you using? If stock, you may have to do a full wipe and reinstall (redownload if necessary). If you're on custom kernel, you may have to install the addons too. Head to gdx thread for details.

NO you can get it for stock ones too......there are a lot of CM7 that work on stock roms.......
If you need I can give you a link of a page on which most of the roms are listed...
@Little Zed, you can supercharge your ROM, just read the OP
It is not advisable to supercharge JB ROMs as it has already it's RAM management from the kernel, if you are experiencing convenience then good for you but it is not that effective i tell you

The kernel is like a bridge for how programs can utilize hardware (ie; CPU/memory/etc). Anytime a program needs to complete a task, the kernel handles how to utilize the hardware for that task. Read this for a more in depth explanation.....

When software needs the hardware to do anything, it sends a request to the kernel. Yes it can improve battery life.

No prob. Take in mind that custom kernels can handle tasks differently and may be better on battery life. Just depends on how its coded. If you flash a custom kernel make sure to do a backup of your current ROM beforehand so you can revert back if you don't like custom kernel. Happy flashing!
