Hi
The rom that is now locked for warez reports, is it a good rom and worth flashing?
Thanks

warez reports? says pending..so maybe its nothing.
I've been running it since before the closing of the thread. As far as I know, the 'warez' refers to a certain paid app already installed and included with the ROM, which is against XDA rules. The ROM will not harm your phone.

Cool, so what do you think of the rom, was it easy to install? Any overclock that comes with it, just general review.
Thanks for response.
I've been running it on my phone for about a week now without any issues. It doesn't come with an overclock but works great with faux's kernel. I have had less issues with that rom then I had with the normal CM7 beta. It's my favorite rom I've tried thus far on my atrix.
I've been running it since the first Beta.
No major issues, but also haven't found any big benefits over CM7 other than a couple themes and a launcher I didn't care for.
And like ar31791 said, I think the warez was just the version of Rom Toolbox that was included was the pro version. But it was removed before the PreRelease anyway.
Personally I hate Rom Toolbox, so I just deleted it and installed RomManager anyway

How can u compare the two? They're for completely different things. They kinda work well with each other.

I thought he took out the full version of rom toolbox, or is there another app he is ripping off?
So far it has been a good rom. I had to find a version of google talk that would allow for video chat. Also not too crazy about the camera.
If there are more warez and no further development I probably wont support it for much longer.
I believe rom manager premium was included as well

hte warez report right now is a live wallpaper included, either than that it is a sweet rom. I was running it untill neutrino came out
I've been using it since 1st Beta so far it is great! The Neutrino is also a great one.
I'm running it and so far so good.

The two? I assume you mean Rom Toolbox vs RomManager? I know they're different, I mean personally I just found no use for Rom Toolbox above what RomManager did for me.
Not to mention every time I tried to run it (I believe it was the pro version at the time) it kept telling me I had to install the pro version of RomManager to use it. Even with the free version installed, it still wanted Pro.

I using official CM7 rom for a while, but now i find out more and more "ports" for G2. So i wonder what is best CM7 based rom with best battery life (or ROM + kernel + CPU settings)
tnx for all suggestion (i try only SuperCM7 and battery is much better then official CM7)
It's all a matter of preference. And had you used the search function, then you would have seen the numerous threads with this exact title, even.
The best CM7 based ROM is.... CM7!! I run the nightlies I'm very happy with them I like being on the bleeding edge of updates though.
but yes, been posted a million times with the same answers. Just head to the dev section and try em out for yourself see what you like. This is what nandroid backups are for.

I agree with you.
I am a recent convert to the Nightlies -- I don't flash each one, however.
I monitor the thread in G2 Android Development and install when a bunch of bug fixes hit (or there's a fix for something that really bugs me) or there's some cool new feature I want to try.
Ultimate Droid rom u wont find it on xda though

Ok, I'm not really new to this forum but I have a question, what exactly is CM7? I see threads on it with people saying that they would rather use that than ics.

Capone is right on the money. It's one of the most popular ROMs out there for any phone that dev teams can get it on. Lots of great features, nightlies with small tweaks released frequently, and just overall pure Android goodness.
I just flashed it today for the first time and, despite no fingerprint scanner, it's worth it.
With that said, I cannot figure out CM7 team's fascination with ADW launcher. Go Launcher Ex is a better and faster launcher imho.

Maybe the team has some stake in the app. Might even be made by one of the devs. Personally I like ADW but you're right, there are better launchers out there.

It helps that ADW Launcher is open source and has never had to contend with (likely overblown) privacy concerns as has Go. I'm partial to Zeam Launcher myself; it's minimalist, perhaps to a fault, but it is snappy and perfect for low memory devices.

Out of curiosity, what do you mean about Go? I've been using Go for several months now, but when I put CM7 on I decided to give it a whirl. I've decided that Go is just a better launcher all around, but I haven't heard of any privacy concerns.
Also, is CM7 not allowed to just use the stock UI from Google?

Yeah, you could use Launcher2. But I was told it's memory hungry, and overall lacks many important features (like resizing widets)

A while back, before I was really on the Android scene, there some some chatter about Go Launcher requiring internet permissions from Android and sending the phone's IMEI to their servers. I said "unfounded" because lots of apps do that, especially pay apps.
As if there weren't enough threads about it? Didn't u have to make an account to post here? Did u watch the video? Search function and Google are your friends. Good luck all, happy flashing.

Just finished rooting my Evo 4G for the first time and was wondering about the different ROM available. I haven't rooted since i had my Hero a year ago. I had fresh on my Hero and loved it. However I mainly use launcher pro and wanted to get away from a sense based ROM as I wanted to use full HDMI out and bluetooth HIDS and from last time I heard a bug in sense prevented this..is this still correct?? I was looking toward CM7.
So does anyone have any recommendation to start off with?
Thanks,
-Stephen
Sense does have the broken Bluetooth stacks, yes. So AOSP-wise? Whenever I actually use AOSP, I use MIUI with latest Tiamat kernel. People complain about no 4G and how it looks like an iPhone, but it is so customizable and it has some great devs.
Other than that, I would suggest SalvageMod or Deck's.
MIUI>SalvageMod>Deck's. All with the latest Tiamat.
But I am a Sense guy, so you know.... Full HDMI mirroring works on Sense with latest Freedom and Chopsuey kernel, if you are interested.
And if you need a refresher, check out my guide in my signature. It is written for Sense but it should apply universally.

thanks, ill look into those. Also what recovery do you recommend CM or RA?
Amon Ra by far
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
My recommendation would be Team Nocturnal Xplod 1.2 with Tiamat 3.37, it has bewn very smooth for me and AOSP
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
My recommendations :
CM7.1.0
ICS themes from market (both cm7 and adw.)
Set screen density to 200.

i recommend amon ra, and if you are interested in learning about aosp roms/kernels click on the link in my sig it's a guide that will explain it all to you with download links to all the roms and download zips to all the kernels. and if you need help installing your rom/kernel i put a link there to a guide for that
Thanks everyone,
I'm gonna start w/ CM7 stable. A few quick questions. What would be the best kernel to go with this. Something to increase battery, trickle charging.
Also do i need to flash a radio with this??
I went with Decks. From what I read it is a striped down version of CM7. What are the main differences? whats has been removed?

Decks is the way to go with aosp roms. I read people praising salvaged zen all the time, but I always have issues when charging my phone on that kernel. I go with.Tiamat. I like the idea of an aosp rom that is still being updated.

The one thing i can say i didnt like about Cm7 is the way it links contacts .. sense is amazing at linking contacts

yea the contact link is the 1st thing i noticed. Don't like it at all but i can deal with it. Main reason I'm going w/ AOSP is to use bluetooth HIDs, as sense doesn't allow this.

Can I just flash the Tiamat on top or will i have to reflash the ROM again and start over?
I just flashed the tiamat kernel. went w/o SBC as i have read that can be risky. Do I need to adjust any settings to help with battery life or does the kernel take care of that? Should Id be using setCPU?

Been using ics-deck-evo-alpha5 for a little more then a week now and loving it. Also watching jaredthegreats thread (JTG-ICS-4.0.3-B2.0.zip) and curious if anyone knows what may be different? From what I found deck's is still alpha but JTG's is beta 2?
I prefer Decks. Trebuchet is the biggest handcuff as it throws errors constantly. Your options are Nova Launcher or Go Launcher. Both support ICS. I LOVE LOVE LOVE GoLauncher EX.
Agreed I also LOVE LOVE LOVE GoLauncher EX
anyway to just use the stock launcher with Deck? I remember it was included with one of the pre alphas and it worked great. (I don't mind not having the customizations so stock is fine with me)

Please don't flame me for this question, I'm still a noob at this stuff
Thanks for any advice/recommendations.
There is no 'best' ROM..all on personal preferance. If you never use bluetooth, then one ROM might be more 'stable' than the other. If you do use bluetooth, then the other ROM might be more 'stable'. All on what your sister needs her phone to do. If it's just texting, calling, and facebook, any ICS ROM will do. Press thanks if I helped

Depends on what she likes in a ROM as I said before. Many ROMs support bluetooth. For instance, unofficial CM9 here has bluetooth, but so does zips ROM here. I'd go with zips personally.

I agree with invasion2 I have only tryed two of them but you should really do allot of reading on the different ones and make sure of things as far as how often the rom is updated. These roms are supper new so they have some strange non stock things that pop up from time to time I don't like to say bugs because most of these guys/gals do this as a hobbies and well things happen. So unless your ready to constantly be helping her with her phone you might think about doing to yours first. Just a FYI wish you well.

I'd recommend TDJ's CM7 kang, and to get the ICS look, download an ICS CM7 theme, GO Launcher EX, and an ICS theme for GO Launcher EX. Set the lockscreen to Ring unlock in CM settings, and pick the Holo ring style. It's a really ICS heavy look while still retaining all the functionality and stability of GB.

I'd go with zips ROM, haven't run into any force-closes at all. Plus the aroma installer is great to have her there to see what apps you want pre-installed such as Angry Birds Space and other random goodies. It's extremely smooth and there's no low-mic issue. Just flash the camera patch that's in the OP of the zips thread ICS ROM after installing to fix the green line on the camera.

Hey eq I tried this rom for sister yesterday it starting acting weird where it kept showing the boot animation screen and my sister was kinda upset because she lost some important text she needed.
what I wanted to ask you before I wiped it I did a backup to see if we could maybe go back to retrieve her text messages but tried that but still no go with that.
Do you recommend any other stable rom that would be good for her?
Also do you know if text messages can be retrieved from a backup in cwm?
I know this is a lot but any help or direction would be greatly appreciated

What you should have done before even booting into recovery, for future reference, is made a backup of everything with Titanium Backup. Then you could have restored your messages to any ROM you wanted.

I have found the unofficial build of the ICS rom to be the most stable soo far. Everything seems to be functional and I havent had any issues with it. My phone literally is like 5 times faster than when i first got it. My battery likfe has tripled adter installing the shots of awesomeness kernel.
