Hello,
I upgraded my 9020T from 2.3.6 to 4.0.3, as you all. I tried with the upgrade, with the full version, and with the new CM9 kang based on 4.0.3. I tried to keeping my existing apps, and to clen install.
In all scenarios, the result is the same : My efs folder (IMEI storage...) disappears after a reboot.
Never had this problem on 2.3.6.
I have kept the new bootloader and the new radio, I am back to 2.3.6 and it works, so it is coming from something in the rom itself.
Hopefully, I have an EFS backup .
Anyone else with this bug ? What should I try ?
Thanks.

same here I can't straighten out this problem.
Try flashing into something more stable and then restore your efs.

Btw questions like these should really be in the Q&A section. Unless you'll are looking for a ban.

I went back to 2.3.6.
Btw what do you mean by more stable than an official update ?
Something weird is happening with my efs too. A few weeks ago my phone started to intermittently not connect calls out of the blue (i.e. hadn't just flashed a new rom). I installed the 2.3.6 update followed by the incremental ICS build on Sunday and it stopped being able to make calls altogether.
Last night I realised this was an efs problem and managed to restore it from a backup. I then installed the full ICS OTA and could still make calls. This morning the problem has returned and *#06# confirms that my IMEI is missing again.
Either this ROM is overwritting my EFS afters being flashed (e.g. on reboot) or the portion of internal storage for efs is corrupting.
Will try restoring the efs backup tonight whilst sticking with the ICS rom and will report back.

[TOOL][Multi-Platform] EFS Backup & Restore
This restoring caused problem on ICS. Some files' permission do not meet the originals. There's no trouble on GB.
Original permission
770 /efs/bluetooth
770 /efs/imei
700 /efs/lost+found
700 /efs/.nv_data.bak
700 /efs/.nv_data.bak.md5
600 /efs/.nv_state
600 /efs/nv.log
700 /efs/nv_data.bin
700 /efs/nv_data.bin.md5
666 /efs/bluetooth/bt_addr
666 /efs/imei/.nvmac.info
600 /efs/imei/bt.txt
So I deleted /efs/, copy and paste the backuped /efs/ and put permissions samely with original and rebooted the device but IMEI was not restored.
At this point, I did Recover your IMEI in 9 steps

Great, I've passed this on to window7 who might be able to add it to his radio post.
arite. I finally found this thread becuase I'm having IMEI issues on reboot. What's the best way to reset the permissions of all those files? (linux newb here)
I do have a backup of my /efs/ folder on my SD card.

yes. my backup was done months and months ago. it works fine for GB but apparently ICS has permission problems so I keep corrupting IMEI every reboot.

Having the same problem. Upgrading to ICS kills my emei number and reverts to the default 00049.
In GB restoring the emei works fine.
In ICS restoring emei works as well, but after a reboot, it reverts back to 00049.
Very annoying
Luckely everything seems to work fine with the default emei, but i dont like it one bit

Please do a full backup of the bootloader! So we all can fix our device..!
The procedure is easy and you just take about 8 minutes..
You have to download this tool (for windows)
http://www.roadkil.net/program.php?ProgramID=12
1- Download the tool "Roadkil's Disk Image"
2- Enter to pink screen (volume up and down, then power on)
3- Connect your phone to the computer through the backside usb port (its more safe)
4- Run the tool
5- Click on the "Store Image" tab.
6- In "Store Image to" click the combobox and choose "Physical Disk #" ("#" is a number)
* If there are more than one "Physical Disk #", then you have to choose the one that is about 3.6gb.. This part is very important.. if you give us a backup from another disk, it will leave our phone unusable.
*To be sure that that Physical Disk you choose is the Huawei u8800-51, You can run the tool again (because it has to refresh) without the phone connected, then check which disks are available. Then, close the tool again, connect the device (in pink screen), run the tool, and check what physical disk was added. But it will be about 3.6gb.
7- In "source file", save the file as "u8800.img" in a folder with more than 4gb of storage available.
*There is no risk for you, as it is just data copying, not writting. The risk is for us if you gave us a wrong file hehe..
*If you compress the "u8800.img" file into a "rar" file, the size will be about 700 mb, then please, upload the file into mediafire or some file hosting service.
Thanks man! It will be very useful to many people!
----
*For the ones who do the restore from the file, they have to do something to get the "u8800.img" to work. I will post here what do they have to do before writing to the disk, so Don't restore until I explain it here, or it wont work! and you may have errors!
im about to do it now and sorry im late i never got a chance to do it.

Ok I will post the tutorial later.. But about the 3g.. It is working, but you have to do factory reset after you restore from the linux backup..
Also, you will have the IMEI of the person who did the backup.. I tried to restore mine and I did it, but when I restored it, the 3g stopped working.. But in "about" it showed me my imei.. My IMEI backup was made when I already updated to u8800pro..
Maybe the files that this tool (5iromtoolbox) backup are the key for having 3g in the u8800pro rom.. (also with the libril-qc-1).. I dont know.. we should test it later..
Remember.. keep the original IMEI (not yours) and you will have 3g or H+.. whathever--
Advices:
- Do the full backup in Linux
- Backup IMEI (5iromtoolbox)
- Backup CWM
- Backup APN

Restore IMEI and radiomodule
I`m from Russia, sorry for my english
I have too U8800-51 (Impulse 4g) from USA. I bricked him after flash U8800 firmware. I rebuilt my U8800-51 in service center and flashed "U8800-51_dload Froyo Original" and my firmware was from U8800pro. And also changed my IMEI and stopped working 3G and GPS.
Before bricked I am backup my original IMEI with "ToolBox5iromV1.0.4.2.apk".
Today I restored my IMEI from my backup. With the IMEI restored RADIO module (№ 203022) and again began to work 3G and GPS. I am so happy now.
You can do it too:
1. Do the ROOT with "DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT_zergRush_busybox_su.zip".
2. Install "ToolBox5iromV1.0.4.2.apk".
3. Restored your IMEI or my IMEI (if you want) with original radio module of U8800-51 (Impulse 4G) AT&T.
My IMEI link: narod.ru/disk/45304379001.3238bc381c90a94603de19359eda2e72/IMEI_U8800-51_(Impulse_4g)_ORIGINAL_buckup.zip.html

Hi everybody!
I can't use the external sdcard to backup my data with Titanium rooted. There is obviously a bug since it says I can't write on that directory/card. I already checked with scandisk. It was fine.
I heard about a bug in Android Kitkat. A story about wrong / new permissions. I am surprised that today, this problem is not fixed yet. I saw a solution where I have to modify some lines in the permissions.xml but ES Explorer refuses to save the file !! Moreover, people report a bug with the bluetooth ...

Actually, I only want to flash a THL (Thailand) stock ROM although I am using a XTC stock ROM (Philippines). If I do it, I suppose it will reset my phone since these are different countries and CSC.
Boring. I am stuck now. Can't save my phone. Any ideas please?

If you're rooted , try this path /storage/extsdcard/Titanium Backup, or if you modified permission.xml already search for media_rw (grant permission rwxrwxrwx) then choose /mnt/media_rw/extsdcard/Titanium Backup.

Glad you solved it , yes you need to reboot after you set the permission , except for media_rw , you need to set

Hello to all you developers out there.
For quit some while now is recieve a consistent warning pop-up whenever i reboot my phone. It only occourse when i'v installed a TW rom. When i'm running any other rom like a GPE for example, the warning does not appear.
Currently i'm on Goldeneye 49.2. My phone is a GT-I9505 on baseband-version: I9505XXUGNK4
I'm not a developer, but a true flashjunky. I would not now how many times is flashed one of your roms and so i do not now specific when this problem started. I'v spend much time browsing the internet in search of this problem and how to fix it. But my effords where not succesfull. The only thing i might have picked up about it, is that is could be related to a corrupt EFS. I hope some of you out there can give me a headsup about this.
Plus! I want to thank all you devoted developers out there. Your hard work and effords are much apreciated.
I have made a picture of the warning.

Hi There,
Thanks for your quick reply. As soon as i read about the EFS, i also read about the backup of the EFS. But i didn't have on.
I made a backup and tried to restore. But i gues a corruption would also be backuped. I also tried to manualy adjust the EFS. Neither workt. Following that i tried holding down the power button for more then 10 seconds till it rebooted (read that somewere between de lines). I also tried various other roms, kernels and basebands. I full despiration i tried returning to fully stock rom. Nothing worked.
Now it has been about a month and a half i left this issieu. So ik can not be very specific about mij tries to resolve.
Is this in any way helpfull?
that is one of the saddest thing that will happen to your phone. My sister has s2 and s3 and she was a flashaholic with different roms and now both phones have no signal/baseband unknown.. She never back up her efs so she cant fix it. I tried my very best to search for an answer, i saw some but it never solve it anyways. Im using my s4 and i backed up my efs every flash that i do. Try to flash official rom, latest modem and pray that it will fix it.

Hi
Well let me tell you about a few things you can try , with some luck they may be enough if not you may have to take it to a local repair shop with a Z3X box of similar they may be able to rebuilt the EFS folder
Check if the EFS folder is mounted correctly
Install / use Terminal Emulator
mount -r -w -o remount,rw -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p10
mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p10
mount -r -w -o remount,rw -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p10 /efs
Reboot
With a root explorer go to EFS/factoryApp/factorymode and open it if it says off change it to on
In case none of the above worked check this great thread about EFS and Factory Mode for further help…..

If those points do not work and without an working EFS backup you may have to look for professional help ( with a Z3X box or similar )

Thank you very much for your help. I did tried to fix the EFS with the guides in the site you mentioned repeatedly. But none were succesfull. The strings you mention in your post, do not look formiliar and i tried them just now. After the second string i get the following in the Emulator:
" can't format mounted filesystem"
Could this be the issieu? Both de FactoryApp and Keystr are on ' ON ' when i open them in a rootexplorer.
And i'm starting to think this problem will, despite all your help, not be resolved.
@MAX 404 try to go to the nearest cellphone repair shop they have this cable that can fix that issue. Its around 4-5$ depends on your country.

that is one of the saddest thing that will happen to your phone.

Maybe in a little while, when i can get the Note 4, i need to think about controlling my flashfrenzy. My wife would certanly like that

I found a wrong reverence in the string. In your string you refer to mmcblk0p10. Except voor the S4 it's ...0p3. Found that out after you let me check the thread again. Although the factory mode is still on after inserting your three strings.
Second thing i noticed was that with the first two string, i get a repley string and info that i can't understand. With the third string, i get no reply string in the emulator. Do you think this can be part of the problem?
I also included a screenshot from the emulator.
