[SOLVED] No 3g after ICS - Nexus S General

9020T with stock ICS -flashed yesterday.
But 3g doesnt work anymore??
Any ideas?

Same problem here. Based on my monitoring of the phone status, it doesn't connect to the 3G networks anymore just EDGE and UMTS.
I don't even know what it's supposed to look like on ICS when the network is 3G or if there' a live data connection. I think the network signal bars are supposed to turn blue. But they don't without wifi.
Upgraded to 4.0.3 from stock 2.3.6 on i9023.

Everything else is working great except for 3g..
I use a program called notification toggle to move from wifi to 3g and it just crashes if I press 3g.
I go into data settings instead and everything looks fine ...data is enabled etc.. but 3g icon never appears in the signal bars ,so cannot connect.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Anyone ?
I Need help getting the 3g working or will have to try and go back to 2.3.6

I had the same problem after going to ics from 2.3.4 and then to 2.3.6. go to network settings and just refresh or delete and renew the settings. it will scan and take like ten minutes. it will find tmo and att. pick tmo and you should see the mobile network work now. did for me. 3g and edge and all

Ok thanks
But can you explain that a bit better..step by step...
click this..click that etc...

I had to do a factory reset to got data working. 9020t

From the top of my head... If rooted
Download root explorer
Locate efs files....
Move the following files to root of SD card:
Nv.log
Nv_data.bin
Nv_data.bin.md5
Once ur done reboot and u should be ok
-Google Galaxy Tab

Also experiencing this. 9023
Factory reset = no dice.
Gonna try to narrow down the problem a bit. I flat out refuse to root my phone to fix an issue caused by an official OTA update.

Same opinion here regarding not rooting. Too bad the factory reset did not work for you, because it just did for me. A great relief that it did, too. Apparently the APN settings remained after the reset and it got 3g and data connection again even during the phone setup.

How did you do your reset?
Settings - backup & reset - factory data reset ?
or
bootup the device holding vol up power and do reset from there?

why dont you guys do what i said to do?
go to settings --> click more at the top --> click mobile networks --> click access point names --> opn the options menu and select reset to default.
now click on network operators in the mobile network settings menu --> allow it to search (can take a while)
here's where it takes a little fiddling. i actually selected ATT first so that it would change all the settings. then i selected tmobile afterwards. then it just connected to the mobile network without a hitch. i believe i rebooted but am not sure.

Seems I am having the same exact issue, with that exact same baseband. Only I am running into it with CM9 Alfa 17.
Sounds like some files for the radio or something got left out.

Not sure if it's related but I can't get a signal either on my i9020a now. Flashing to a previous gingerbread rom doesn't bring it back either.

No 3G on Nexus S after flashing ROM

I have a Rogers/Fido/Telus Nexus S. I tried a bunch of ROM's, CM7, ASOP, NSColab, Honycomb port. And then I realized that my 3G stopped working. I'm only getting Edge. My baseband version says "NO DGSXXXKB1", in the bootloader, carrier info says ATT. Any ideas?
do I need to re-flash the GRI40 radio again?
Same problem here. Initially all was working fine, then I tried to play with 2G/3G settings in Power Widget (CM7) since then, I am only able to get Edge connection.
I reset, changed firmwares, went back to my original Nandroid backup, no help.
I was also getting the Roaming Icon indicator on Fido's network, even though I purchased the Fido branded Nexus-S...
Tried changing Radio, KB1 and KB3, still no go.
I have owned Nexus One, Desire, Desire HD, Samsung Galaxy-S and Nexus-S
Never had issues except with Samsung phones!
Anyway, relocked NAND and this phone is going back.
Same. I was ASOP and the 2G was enable by default. I changed it to 3G and never saw 3G again. I thought swapping radios would do it, apparently not. Really weird. I guess I'm returning mine as well. Hopefully Future Shop will not snoop around too much.
Do you think odin would work?

The version of the phone changed to GRI40 which if I'm not mistaken is the T-mobile one. Which would explain everything. I hope one of the devs could help us out.
APN missing?
I have the same problem guys. After flashing CM7, I can only get edge connection. Whenever I turn on 3G from the toggle, a "H" sign will appear, but no internet at all! Wtf. Hope there is a solution for this. Back on stock nexus s (slcd i9023) for now

i just read somewhere else that after flashing the wcdma setting in *#*#4636#*#* got set to the wrong option. so type that and go change it back to wcdma preferred, or your preference.

Never hit the 2G/3G button. Its broken, been broken and doesnt work as of yet. Just dont hit it.
Had the same problem. For some reason it was on the wrong band (if that's possible). in the *#*#4636#*#*, phone information, menu, select radio-band, USA, and fixed!
Still getting no 3G/H on my CM7. I even tried the *#*#4636 method, still no go. However I can surf the browser to sites like google, facebook etc. But whenever I want to sync my google acc, I will get a network error. Wtf? One thing that I noticed is that, my signal bars won't "light up" (but I can surf the net). Another thing, after flashing to CM7, my build number changed to GRI40 instead of GRI54 in the settings on stock. Maybe that is the problem?

Put this into your dial pad: *#*#4636#*#*
Then hit Phone Information
Then hit the menu button and select radio band, the select corresponding Country.
USA will fix our issues.
I found a dirty workaround for this problem. Turn on airplane mode, then turn it off. Worked for me.
Same issue for me on the Nexus One. 3G icon is there when phone is idle. As soon as I try to do anything data-related (ie. browser) it switched to an H.
Tried setting to USA, no dice. APN is internet.com
crap I guess no root for my nexus S until this canadian carrier thing is resolved...
I thought i would throw in my experiance
I bought a Nexus S from Telus, and i am using it with a Sasktel Sim on Bell/Sasktel network (live in sask but have a national account from Bell) and on stock, i could never get H.....only the 3g would show up. But that was short lived because i flashed CM7 on it and the H now appears and works perfectly fine
So i dunno if its a Rogers frequency thing/problem, but the phone works great on HSPA on Bell/Sasktel
Cheers

[Q] No signal problem

Hi all! I'm experiencing a serious problem with my I5800. Suddenly I'm unable to connect to my carrier network, no signal at all. I was using Kyrillios till now, but it is still not working after i flashed a stock JPF. I tried everything, different versions of stock and Kyrillios, clearing data and cache, using another SIM from other carriers. No matter what I do my phone is unable to connect to the phone network. Searching in the forums i found others facing this problem after using Kyrillios for some time... but no solution worked. So basically now I have a "dead" phone... Any help? Someone with the same problem?
Try to choose a different network operator. Go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobile networks -> Choose network operator. Try all options and see if any of em work.
I can see all my country networks, but when i choose mine the popup says registered and after some mins a red sign appear in the bar "No service (my carrier name)". I tried other carriers but I can't use others with my sim. Also i tried other sims as i said of other carriers and they all ahve the same problem. In other phone they all works normal.
I'm wondering if the Kyrillios ROM can damage the antenna or something like that. It could be a serious issue caused by it.
Nah I don't think it does. Not physically at least.
Try flashing an eclair rom, preferably the one which you had originally. Maybe that'll help. Or some ROM, just so you can be sure it works at least with some ROM. Then we can start thinking of new solutions
I tried many eclair and froyo now. It don't connect to the network. No ROM works.

what network are you on?
have you tried deleting all other APN's except the one you need?
Do you have signal at all / are you connected to the phone network and able to take / receive calls? or is nothing working?

has the data worked at any point before?
This is the problem that lots of people over in this thread are having ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2084706&
We are hoping for some sort of fix to this in 4.2.2, but until then we haven't been able to find a solution. If you are 100% certain the APN settings are correct (I can't help with that as from UK so not familiar with that network) then there isn't much you can do. For me, the only thing I ever find that sometimes brings it back is if I turn airplane mode on, leave it for 30 seconds then turn it off again. Likewise, you can click on the APN to reset that each time.
If you are rooted, Faux released a modified kernal which is meant to improve data drops and the wake issue which some nexus's have.

did you cut your own micro sim?
try a spare sim if you have one.
Reset APN to default, delete all and try again.
I don't know what else to suggest other than the above / phoning google / rooting and trying a different kernal and ROM / wait for 4.2.2 update.
(In the meantime please post in the thread linked above, no need for this duplicate thread just for your issue )

No Internet connection after software update to MHC19I

Hey fellas,
I just recently updated to the latest software version via OTA (running stock), and suddenly I cannot connect to the mobile Internet anymore even though it shows everything correct.. APN, cellular company and signal at the top of the screen..
Any idea?
Thanks
I've been having the same problem having updated to Pure Nexus last night and again this morning with very little help. When I went into the APN section the actual APN was not selected and that at least got me data but I cannot make phone calls out. They keep getting some sort of sim error.

I had this same problem. Go to your dialer and enter
*#*#4636#*#*. This will get you in the test menu. Select phone info and click the 3 dot menu on the top right. Choose select radio band and then click USA band if that's your location. Reboot your phone. Now turn airplane mode on and go to settings and click more under wireless and networks. Click cellular networks and system select. Toggle home and automatic back and forth. Now toggle allow data when roaming off and then back on. Turn airplane mode off and you should be back up and running again. These steps worked for me anyway.
Solved my issue. Go to pure nexus setting, all the way at the bottom I have a phone and info. Then go into phone information. Then click menu in top right, select the band that works for you (had to set mine to USA, 6&7 Didnt work

Try cleaning your SIM card to see if that helps. If it doesn't do a hard factory reset but clear the cache in the hard factory reset before doing it.

Now we are getting somewhere. There is a high probability that your device doesn't support your cell carriers LTE/4G bands. As US Sprint devices are designed to operate on their own LTE/4G bands.

Exactly. I had the same problem. 4G didn't work for me. I simply sold the phone and bought an N910c.
The exclamation mark will be there if there is no data or wi-fi connection available. I am afraid there is little you can do to remove it. But rest assured this is not a problem with the phone or the software. And Sprint unlocked phones are perfectly usable in 3G mode in the Indian Sub-continent. I have used a Sprint Galaxy Note 3 for more than a year without any problems. So there is nothing wrong with the phone or the update you received. If you still feel the need to remove it you can try a factory reset or try and switch the Network mode to 'Global' (Sprint phones being both CDMA/GSM compatible, should have a 'Global' mode) and see if the signal changes. Also try and keep Data on at all times and see. And from your comments it seems your phone is working fine both over wi-fi and Data Connection. So, don't get unnecessarily worried. Everything's fine.
I have a note 4 from sprint here in jamaica it shows the same exclamation sign but I can't make a call nor text
I have similar issue.

Welcome to XDA @mpot
I'm not sure if this will help but it's worth a try. Open "Developer option" in your phone settings and look for "Networking" and you'll notice additional WiFi settings are available.

Oh, as long as your in there, I recommend setting Windows animation scale, Transition animation scale and Animation duration scale to "0" or "Off". You'll notice a faster response when using your device.
