Just saw this on Engadget (via Pulse, hence the URL) and thought people might enjoy the read.
The Tab 2 seems to be following in the footsteps of the Xoom and LG Slate with the screen size. The article mentions no news or rumors of the destiny for our beloved Tabs but maybe the Samsung event will give us the good (or bad) news about the Honeycomb update.
I'm sure we'll 3.0 love as soon a system dump is available, but it'd still be nice of Samsung to give an official update seeing as this is the Tab which (pretty much) started the Android Tablet evolution.

i am very happy with my 7" tab. not too big not too small just perfect, the 10.1" will be a bit to big, but i do agree that we should get the 3.0 upgrade soon.....
Ok one of the main reasons I bought my tab (other than how amazing cool it is) is due to the 7" screen. I dont want a huge 10" screen!. I have a 32" bravia for a pc monitor and a 10.1" netbook, I got the tab for portability! I wish they would leave it at 7"
I sure hope they don't increase the screen size, that is one of the great differentiating factors between the Tab and the iPad. I loved my iPad but it was too big to carry easily. All of the new Honeycomb announced tablet's have the bigger screen and I was counting on Samsung sticking with the smaller form factor. Although the rumors of Apple considering a 7" iPad are interesting and would tempt me to back. The biggest disappointment with the Tab is the sluggishness I get and no Android browser I've tried is as smooth and responsive as Safari on the iPad.
I have reliable information saying this will be some sort of official google tablet(maybe for the european market?). The hardware will also blow everyones minds somehow. Don't know any details about that, but the competition will supposedly be playing catchup for quite some while before they get there. I guess it will be some fancy new screen at least. I'm looking forward to sunday as samsung will tell us everything:-D
and yes, it will be running honeycomb.
Whatever, i hope it is a google tab made by samsung. Either way samsung fecking sucks ass. I've had a captivate since the day before launch and its yet to receive froyo. What the hell is the hold up? I learned my lesson and not to buy their proprietary bull****. I jumped ship and got the nook cause of the development and me not having the patience for samsung's bull**** and lies. Yeah wait and hope for your dump. Good luck porting that. Even with the nexus s galaxy s still hasn't been ported. Knock knock .... anyone home. As you can tell, i have lost my patience for samsung.
I'll check back in 6months. I'd almost be willing to place a wager. FU samsung FU

I'm sorry to be off topic from OP but your post is fubared to say the least.
You complain that Samsung doesn't release any update. You jump ship to get the Nook and use a custom ROM? LoL I guess Barnes & Noble released Honeycomb for Nook eh?
The rumor mill is going strong today.
Rumors have said the iPad will be available in 7" form factor and now the Tab will be in 10" form factor.
Wouldn't that be funny, each side copying the other after each saying the other size was not good!

+1 to that.
Why would people port it to a phone? 3.0 is a tablet only firmware. 2.4 is the mix of Gingerbread and Honeycomb for phones.
And you jumped ship because of their development? A 3.0 port of the SDK? I'd rather keep this and wait for a proper port tbh.

WHo said anything about porting this to a phone? Well since the nook is an omap it shares a lot of similarities with droidx, and since motorolla dosnt have all this proprietary bs that they dont release code for. So when trying to port a nexus s to galaxy s, one would think it would be simple. So when you guys get that dump i seriously doubt it will ported. It's just my opinion. That would be samsungs fault cause a lot of their drivers are proprietary since they make the hardware. So if they don't release code then code will have to be reversed engineered and that takes time...lots of it. Well you can see where i'm going with this. Samsung could of released info today about how the new tab and how they are going to upgrade their other one that was released 6 months ago but they didn't and they don't give a fuk, seriously.
] About jumping ship? I was just saying that if you want upgrades in os's , well , samsung hasn't shown that they give a rats ass. I learned the hard way just like you guys will. I happen to choose the nook because of the hardware and how easily it is to port. Unlike samsung again with their proprietary drivers and what not. This isn't a nook vs tab debate. I think the galaxy tab is beautiful hardware is sexy but the buck stop there. Samsung needs to show us that they care and i just don't have that faith. So good luck with the dump. Hope that works out.

I misunderstood your phone comment, I thought you meant porting Honeycomb to the Nexus/Galaxy S, not Nexus to Galaxy
I haven't looked into the Nook myself so I'm unfamiliar with the specs/features of it and the work developers has done to it is shocking and amazing.
I agree wwith the comment about Samsung being *****es with their upgrades. But I personally think that with the developers we have, I think we *might* be able to pull off something spectacular with this incredible device.
Most of us jumped into it buying the Tab knowing of Samsungs backgroynd but that's the risk everyone takes with devices, right? I came from a Desire and since FroYo, we've been screwed by HTC. No Sense UI 2.0 eventhough ports of the Desire HD & Z have proven it could cope. All manufacturers do it in their own way.
*Hopefully* Samsung will change their ways.

I fully agree it would be unjust for the galaxy not to get some samsung love. But love and sumsung is almost an oxymoron. Specially when sammy's just getting in on this whole "open" thing. If they don't ;produce then this will be the straw that breaks the camels back. SO in the meantime let me say FU samy, shame on you.

Im glad its going to be 10inch, makes me feel better for having a 7inch tab
Seems to be a lot of misunderstanding in this thread
Samsung always said there would be a 7" AND a 10" form factor... They are just rolling out the 10" with the latest hardware and Software (HC). Nothing surprising here. I ma not sure you can call that a GT2... It's just the 10" GT
Hopefully down the road they will update the 7" as well. nd I think it's a good thing they don't do it immediately !! I'd be pissed if my GT is immediately outdated...
I'm taking my Tab back and waiting out the release of the Xoom and Tab 2. I think right now was the wrong time to buy.
I for one do not think I am going to buy a new Galaxy Tab just for a few extra inches. I mean come on samsung it is the same galaxy tab just a small bit bigger...and also weren't they the ones that first made a speech about how 7" tablets are more protable then 10"....
And on that note, If for some reason Honeycomb didn't get put on my 7" I would prob buy another tablet...but not this one.

If you want a supported device get a xoom. I think the new gtab will launch with 2.1 and get 3.0 in about 8-12 months. (JK, but seriously Samsung has a proven track record of ZERO support for their devices)

You're probably going to get a bunch of people yelling at you for asking a question that has been asked many times over.
I'll answer though.
In short, yes it's good. It's excellent in my opinion.
Currently all Tablets running Honeycomb are going to suffer from having relatively few apps. This was the case when the first iPad was released. Luckily there are plenty of developers out there dedicated to creating quality applications for Honeycomb. Within a month or two, there will be an influx of applications and people will wish they had purchased the Xoom when they had the chance. With production numbers dropping there is no telling what Motorola's next design might be. It could be a locked down version like the Atrix phone kind of similar to what happened with the original Droid that was running vanilla Android. The Droid 2 had Motoblur and a locked bootloader; currently, owners of the original Droid are enjoying Gingerbread by Peter Alfonso.
Here are some current complaints:
1) No SD card support yet
2) LTE Upgrade will take 6 days
3) Application selection is limited
4) Performance seems low for a dual core product
My response:
1) It is coming and currently the unit has 32 GB of internal storage, are you running out already? If so, sit tight and you will be able to expand it to 64GB really cheaply.
2) Better than waiting 3 months on the release of the Xoom altogether, and if you are using it Wifi only like I am tethering it to my Epic 4G, LTE is irrelevant.
3) This will change with time, early adopters syndrome
4) As Google releases new versions of Honeycomb this will be addressed. Additionally there are already kernels bumping the speed from 1Ghz to 1.5Ghz creating a 50% performance increase out of the gates.
Anyway, it's all preference. I love Motorola's products so I got the Xoom.
This is like walking into an Apple store and asking if Macs are any good. What are you expecting?

Having never owned a tab before, the xoom is my first experience and I think it's awosme.
Matter of fact i loved the xoom so much i dumped my iphone 4 and got an HTC inspire for my everyday phone.
I personally have only one complaint and that is it's very susceptable to glare.

Well you're not alone, no one here has probably used the Tab 10.1 before because it isn't out yet! lol.
But seriously OP, coming to a Xoom forum asking a question that's been asked in detail a million times already is ridiculous. You're gonna get pretty polarized answers... Every other post in this forum is about how good/bad the Xoom is, just read.
anywho, back to the OP's question,
i'd wait it out and get that samsung. its thinner, lighter, cheaper, and has a better display than the xoom. but lets not get ahead here, those samsung tablets at CTIA were mockups.
as for updates, do not worry about that, as updates will be coming since the new gtab's will be a near google experience device. CNET has reported that the TouchWiz updates could possibly be an optional update. And tbh, i kinda like the new touchwiz UI.
personally, i'd wait.

Samsung is evil incarnate, having just come from a Samsung Fascinate, I can tell you touchwiz is the most godawful piece of software you could ever have on your device. Not becuase it isnt good, touchwiz isnt all that bad, but, and this is a BIG bit, YOU WILL NEVER GET UPDATES. EVER. PERIOD. THANKS FOR PLAYING BUY OUR NEXT PRODUCT TO GET A SOFTWARE UPGRADE! No thank you. Not playing that game again. Not now. Not ever!
I can't wait to see if the GTabs will get updated. That is one of the main reasons people seem to be using to prevent others from liking them. Luckily the general population could care less about going from Android 2.2, to 2.3, and for those who can't wait... rooting is the alternative. Or buying another device.
Thanks to everyone that posted USEFUL comments.
I was at work and posted from my phone, so didn't want to risk reading 100's of threads.
This would be my first tablet so dont want spend £500+ and get a laggy device.
I have clicked "thanks" for everyone who left a useful comment.
It does not really matter if it's close to stock. Example the g2.
If you're one of those folks that always want the updates first you basically need a Google experience device.
Sammy seems to be the worst out of all the oems though.
Also look at the vodafone nexus one as far as updates that are tied to carrier goes.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Motorola has already said that the report on cutting back on manufacturing xooms is 100% BS
I'm also considering buying a Xoom... I was going to buy the Galaxy tab 10.1, but yesterdays announcement kind of changed that, i don't want to wait until June.
So i have two options now, buy a Xoom or the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 (now renamed to 10.1v in EU).
About Xoom, i like the idea of clean Android, updates, USB and microSD slot. I have a feeling that Xoom will get more support in XDA forums also.
I'm not sure i like the extra 131g.
About Galaxy Tab 10.1v, i actually like the original design more, i don't care that it's 2mm thicker then the new one.
But I'm sure I don't like the idea of not getting any updates or getting a update with that TouchWiz UX.
Considering all this and that you have actually hold the 730g Xoom in your hand, which would you buy?
The Touchwiz UI they put on the tab isnt the same as one on the phones. But still, even that has to be revamped when new version of android comes out. Samsung is the worst when talking about updates. I liked the design of the original GTab 10.1 too, but thinking of updates, I went ahead and got the xoom. Samsung just needs to stop putting **** on awesome device like that and make the damn thing go into shame.
For those not familiar - #NeverAgain Round 1 - May have brought you Froyo.
I was about to press "Submit New Thread" on the Official #NeverAgain Round 2 thread... but consulted those I consider wiser than me and was told to hold off.
At this point, I think I need to know how the community feels.
The reasons I felt strongly for now being a good time:
GB patches security holes (big for me), I want GB Source (CM7 w/ GPS) and I think Samsung would be hurting/listening if we REALLY DID NOT BUY THE TAB 10.1.
So, If #NeverAgain would work, it would take a COMMUNITY (BIG TIME) EFFORT, and it would take NOT buying the Tab 10.1. And telling people not to buy it. That was the whole intent before, we vowed to not buy their products based on lack of support.
A BIG reason to hold off on NeverAgain....
it honestly may not be Samsung to blame. WTF is going on with T-Mobile? Is the merger to blame?
This movement honesty may be better suited against/in addition towards T-Mobile.
It's in your hands.. you decide how we should handle it.
I just ask that you be respectful, think about it, and do not troll.
DO NOT JUST SAY YES WITHOUT CONSIDERING THE FUTURE.
EDIT: I posted the below comment after reading some posts...
Also.... I have thick skin. You are not going to hurt my feelings. I assure you, my only intention is to try and help this community.
Some thoughts from reading the comments:
Again, I'm not saying it's right, but it could help.
I felt like we should address it as a community, so the majority is on board. A movement doesn't work if it's not supported. By addressing it, having rational thought, we all win and are better off for it.
Sounds like the majority agree it's not right, or the right time. Good. Now the community needs to decide, what is next?
Wait? Question T Mobile? Assume we're the red headed step child of the Galaxy variants?
If not this... What?

Certain developers
I'm not sure I see what the Tab has to do with this? Honestly, they're pumping out so many new devices at this point I have trouble believing that they'd even care. I mean how many Vibrant owners are even left, I wonder.
Personally, I've already decided against another Samsung device since the first, and original fiasco. Not to mention the whole GPS thing. It's just not OK with me that I purchased a defective product and neither T-Mobile or Samsung seems to care. In fact it was like pulling teeth just getting a replacement device when something completely unrelated went wrong. This, of course, is T-Mobile's fault, but nevertheless it's BS. At this point T-Mobile will be lucky if I stay with them, especially with the Death Star lurking to buy them out. Ugh. I left ATT for greener pastures, dammit.
So, anyway, my point is I'm still riding the original NeverAgain train. Do whatever, I'm down to ***** and complain some more.
This should be a #NeverAgainTMobile thread. There are a bunch of leaks for other devices on other carriers and internationally, the SGS has GB in many countries.
Id hold off a bit to #NeverAgain Samsung. They gave devs some SGS2's and used open source drivers, etc.
They aren't the problem. Carriers are the problem.

Def agreeing with this, #NeverAgain round two. I recently switched away from my Vibrant because of the lack of updates and support from Samsung. Its almost like we have to file a class action in order to get an update.
To top things off, they are continuing their "forced upgrade" mentality by releasing 2.3 for the SGS4G but nothing for the Vibrant, even though there is very little difference between them (its slightly different but minor).
Even worse, they think that because they gave ONE CM developer a SGSII that they have made up for all the mistakes they have made w/ previous devices, and publicized it like it was the second coming. What about the hundreds of developers that were working on SGS devices before the CM team wanted anything to do with Galaxy S devices (TeamHacksung needed to make an entirely seperate git for their port of CM).
Personally, I am done with Samsung, but I have a bunch of friends and family that are using Samsung Android devices that shouldn't get left behind
So.... #NeverAgain

They gave ONE developer a SGSII, and ignored everyone else. Also, a leak is not a official update, and doesnt make it to the majority of users. They need to officially update via KIES or an OTA. Lastly, TMobile just updated the SGS4G to 2.3.3, so the issue is still almost entirely Samsung's IMO. None of the US variants have an official release, and considering the phone is not even a year old, thats pathetic.
We haven't gotten ANYTHING from TMO or Samsung.
"but we got GPS" that leak was for Vibrant4G we're just lucky it worked for us.
Definitely. [insert french accent here] We're the resistance!
I think something needs to be said. EVERY other SGS device has Gingerbread except us. WHY? I think we deserve to know why we aren't being supported. Whether it's because of the merger or something else entirely.
Well I'll get flack for this, but I say no!
I mean, they gave in for Froyo, but lets face it. When we buy our Phones, don't go into the sell for what they might do or get.. but for what they can do at the time of sell...
the other reason, Samsung has shown support to the Dev's in recent events & starting another campaign to me is like spitting in there eye.. You also have to remember TMO Dropped the Vibrant for the Vibrant 4G, so any support / updates are carrier dependent but samsung might update it... who knows....
Just my 2 cents & not worth much, just give them a bit more time.

I think they still sell the vibrant. regardless I see no harm from giving then some pressure. why not try to squeeze at least one more update out of them?
Im with CallipH but im also with Eugene, its kind of weird that they started on updates for every other device except the Vibrant, but maybe their doing there work in order. Like i think the Epic 4G was the first phone to see a leak, now the Captivate, most likely it'll be the Fascinate next then us Last. I see it as "Better Late Than Never". It'd be cool if it was early like with FROYO but we just have to hope we get it and if we don't get GINGERBREAD the obvious reason is the Galaxy S 4G. Thats the only possible and reasonable reason. But all we can do is wait and see. Patience is the Key.

The leaks were not leaked by Samsung for you. They were leaked by Samfirware.com. They are NOT meant for public release. I don't know why everyone is saying other phones have Gingerbread... because they don't. Only the I9000 has Gingerbread.
I do not think Never again is the right format, Maybe a better format is "We are the loyal and you want to keep us that way heralding Samsung as the Phone of Phones"
I think this may be a better tact and if they do not respond Then go the #neveragain......attack..........

Yeah i knew before they even released the Galaxy S 4G leak what was going down. I didn't know that there was no builds yet for the Vibrant. But its weird that no one has started building Gingy for the Vibe yet, I think a lot of people know that these aren't official or even released by Samsung but by Samfirmware, I suppose their suspicious of why the Vibrant don't even have a build yet when we were the first to see FROYO. Or was it the Captivate? I don't remember but we were 1st or 2nd.
I think the real problem with #NeverAgain is that Samsung makes some really great devices. The Tab 10.1 and the SGS II are the best tablet and phone, respectively. Saying that I won't buy them when they blow the competition out of the water is tough.

Principles. You need them.
I was thinking the same thing with the neveragain round 2, I say just wait a little bit longer, maybe till the beginning of next month and then do it, there is nothing to lose, they need to put pressure on t-mobile since I'm sure its all t-mobile's fault due to all these new phones coming out.
but instead of ssaying we won't buy a galaxy tab 10.1 just say anything samsung branded
Samsung just announced that they will not be releasing ICS on SGS (i9000), hence we can safely assume that they will not be doing so on SGS+ (i9001) either as it's a less popular (even though faster) model. The amount of RAM is similar and aparently that's one of the reasons why SGS is not getting it, so unless someone will be able to "cook" one of the sources or a port of some kind, we're bound to 2.3.X
Oh,What a shame!!
this belongs in general. remember this is only for developers, any discussion belongs to general.
I believe the SGS is more than capable of handling ICS...it's just Samsung being too reluctant to develop such a ROM for a phone that's not as popular anymore.
Either way, I'm sure unsatisfied SGS users will find a solution here at XDA
Well, there are ports of ICS for SGS already and they run fine. Point is Samsung's not willing to do it as they wouldn't be able (suposedly) run their own bloatware and touchwiz on them alongside ICS. From my point of view as a SGS+ user that's bull, but it's just something that makes me not wanna ever buy a Samsung device again in the future, and I suppose there's more people who'll think similar.
Well technically they can if they only released one Galaxy S model across the globe, but as they have to make ROMs that allow their (and different carriers' in the case of the US) bloatware to function properly. With variants such as the Captivate, Epic, Vibrant, i9000B, i9000M....they probably reckon it's too much work.
That is correct but all they really need to do now is release sources and I'm sure that there's plenty smart enough folks out there who can do their job for them and for free...
Not saying to troll. But posts like "If they dont port an official ICS, I'm not going to buy a Samsung device again", "shame on samsung", "samsung should loose a lot of customers" and any other random hating is just dumb. Honestly, you don't get anything posting such comments. I am a SGS owner too, but look at the facts, SGS is old. (over 2 years) get over it. Somone will release a good and fast and stable ICS custom rom, thats what most user would end up using anyway.

The galaxy tab is a great device... once it has been modified. The stock firmware tends to lag and have reboot issues for power users, those who game and transfer files a lot. On the other end, if you are a very casual gamer who likes to surf the net and read books all on a great screen then the tab may be for you. Although, in all honesty the tablet market is extremely diluted at the moment, so I would recommend that you wait for the market to equalize and spit out a great value and performance tablet.

hell yes. this tablet is a boss. if you can, might as well wait for those quad core tablets though. they're right around the corner.
Id say no, especially this version at this point in time, honestly if I were you I would just keep the iPad, while it is a locked down piece of ****, it actually does what its supposed to do and it works well, the Gtab is garbo compared to iPads, depending on what you want to spend Id say wait for the iPad3/HD or wait for the next gen version of the Gtab or something comparable
This is coming from someone who likes Android, I have a SGS and a GTab

I agree with what Jay says. While this tab is great if you can wait I would suggest waiting for the new stuff to come out with ICS on it and will have the faster processors.

You're actually saying my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7150 running Task 14, Pershoots latest kernel, oc'd to 1400, SuperCharger V6, most any app I could want, and etc... without any issues what so ever is "garbo" compare to something you just referred to as a "locked down piece of ****"?
You've got to be kidding. I guess you could just be an apple fanboi sarcasm in the fanboi crack.
But really that's what you just said.
I'm not saying you're wrong within your opinion of what to do. I think you are, but I'm not saying that.
I just can't believe what you just compared my tab to. LOL
Now back on topic....
As far as what to keep, I would keep both myself, until the next iPad and actual successor to the tab comes out so you can compare then. While in the meantime while you wait you'll be able to personally experience both the iPad and tab to help ease your decision when you decide what direction you want to go. It could be you even want to get a completely different brand than Apple or Samsung. Then you can sell then both, just the one you don't want, or neither and not even get anything else. Leave your options open and compare both before getting rid of either one for now. Is my suggestion.
EDIT: Sorry I got so involved with the comment of my tab being "garbo" compared to a "locked down piece of ****" I forgot what the op stated.
so actually, if you're not completely happy with the iPad I'd get rid of it before a new one comes out and makes the one you're not happy with worth half of what it is now. But would I wait on getting a tablet? No. But I couldn't live without mine now. But if you can live without then I would suggest doing so, as the new to come devices, even the iPad, look to be really nice improvements on the tab as it is right now. Sorry not a definite answer as to what to do really just something more to think about.

are you bloody kidding me? G-Tab "garbo" when compared to an ipAD?!
OKay, maybe when its on stock ROm... no arguing there.
BUT after flashing it with a custom rom and overclocked to 1.2-14.ghz? Dude... I am loving my 10.1v to every single detail!
Its so much easier and fast to use. no itunes no syncing!
I can view flash browsers, open any video file, i have a CALCULATOR! I have a tablet dedicated OS!
Just wait till ICS becomes stable on 10.1&10.1v... ICS is damn smooth and damn fast!
Imo, it may not be as smooth as IOS but its really close but one thing is for sure... ITS FAST!
Thanks guys for your opinions. Yea I definitely would throw a custom rom on there. I mostly just use the ipad for internet and Netflix HBO go. The Garbage iipad Im using the safari always fcs its kinda annoying.

LOL, I knew this would get some peoples hackles up, Im not a fanboy of any product, to me that is one of the stupidest things you can be.... it is an electronic device after all, for some one to get bent out of shape because someone else thinks your "electronic" device is garbo as I put it is beyond moronic, I base the way I view things on how it actually performs not on pop culture and what all the cool kids are saying, I worked at Toyota before and I would tell people some of them are crap some of them are good, just as I would with whatever other manufacturer they were asking about
I have never owned an Apple product, they are far to restrictive and they are trendy which puts me off
Im offering up my opinion not based on love of a device/manufacturer, Im basing this on the fact that my Sister has an iPad and IMO its an overall better product compared to MY Gtab < notice the emphasis on me saying "MY" since no where in my post did I say YOUR tab was garbo
Geeze the way you ball washed a product almost gives the appearance of you having a relationship with it or having a name for it

Im on the latest ICS KANG, the Gtab is at its best while on this ROM, especially compared to stock HC, no doubt about that but as I mentioned above, overall the iPad is a better product IMO
This Tablet ROCKS.. I have no real need to upgrade or wait for the new ones that will come..
Task 14 with pershoot kernel and OC @ 1.2 is fast speedy and rock solid..
CM9 OC @ 1.2 is nice as well...
Get it and enjoy as waiting for what is rumored is a never ending cycle.. As soon as the newer ones are released something with higher specs will be rumored...
Get what you want and enjoy it..
Simply from an evolutionary perspective it doesn't make sense to buy the current G-Tab now. The G-Tab 2 is supposed to be less expensive but it'll still be first-gen h/w. The Note 10.1 is interesting because of the uniqueness of the S-Pen. It also has a 1.4GHz Exynos processor and I'm guessing a Mali GPU which will be head and shoulders above the G-Tab 1 and 2's performance.
The Asus Prime's running Teg3 but it's been a disaster with tons of issues you can review on their forum. It's rumored that'll the Asus Infinity which will have a HD display may replace it in the April/May timeframe. Acer's also got a Teg3 device launching in France this month that's already passed through the FCC. The Samsung 11.6 with a higher resolution display than the iPad3 will most likely rule all later in the year. But the Exynos 5250 chip that powers it isn't supposed to reach mass production until Q2 so it'll probably be summer before it’s available. All the newer devices come with ICS.
So if you've made up your mind to make the switch from iPad, I'd wait at least until the Note 10.1 becomes available. I'm guessing it won't be cheap and you may have to import it from Europe to get it sooner. If you're willing to look at other manufacturers follow Acer and Asus to see when their new Teg3 devices are released. Or, you can wait even longer for the Holy Grail which will be the 11.6
.

The iPad better? LOL.. Opinions are like..... Well you know...
iPads are OK but they are mainly geared toward less technically inclined people.. No widgets, no customization ect... PASS... Sold my iPad2 to get the Tab and am glad I did..
I was thinking about waiting for the gtab2 but I read it was pretty similar to the first gen one. The original gtab is only 400 at best buy. I just want something that's good for movies and Internet. I like Samsung cause all their devices is so easy to root and flash.

First, your statements I changed to red in your quotes above are contradicting each other as to what you are implying you actually you said. and the first statement of "the Gtab is garbo compared to iPads" can or should be interpreted as including everyone's Gtab.
Second, (your own words are in green), I didn't get my "hackles up" I defended the Gtab as I have it set up and showed my disbelief of your stating "the Gtab is garbo compared to iPads" here in a Galaxy Tab 10.1 section of the forum. I'm reminded of quote from an old British sitcom "I'm glad I don't have your nerve in my tooth!"
I say this because as you state yourself "LOL, I knew this would get some peoples hackles up" So you knew the controversy you were trying to create but did so anyway? I doubt it. I think you were just stating your opinion which you knew many here would disagree with, not intentionally trying to start any pissing matches, but I could be wrong.
To end my I rambling, I do take offense to some of your so called "opinions", as direct and intentional insults towards myself as they were directly in response to my post. Such as this one 'for some one to get bent out of shape because someone else thinks your "electronic" device is garbo as I put it is beyond moronic" So I'm beyond moronic because I chose to state my opinions and defend my Gtab, just as you stated your opinions but didn't defend any device of your own? I may think the same of you and your opinions but never resorted to publicly posting this low level of insult.
This following is definitely trying to be insulting and directly rude. "Geeze the way you ball washed a product almost gives the appearance of you having a relationship with it or having a name for it" I think this is completely uncalled for. Although I do have a name for it. LMAO It's name is "my tab".
Then, I'm having a relationship with it? Not even going to ask your intentions with that statement, though I think it's obvious what you're suggesting here.
Since this OP is all relative to device setups and personal opinions, as you stated yourself, and I respect your opinions, however much I disagree. Though none of the personal attacks were called for.
You might reply and correct me where I could be thinking wrong.
But with my post already taking the OP off topic I hesitate to suggest it, but that's not for me to decide.
Just thought I'd write an essay today I guess.

If you're looking to play movies locally (vs. streaming) then stay away from anything based on Teg2 (including the G-Tab 1). The GPU is pitiful. If the 1GHz chip in the G-Tab 2 is Exynos/Mali it will be a far better choice than the Teg2. If you store your video files in 1080P/MKV Teg2 just chokes and you'll have to re-encode them all to get them to play. Nvidia's said they've lost Samsung as a customer so it's hard to say what chip will be in the G-Tab 2 and other upcoming Samsung tablets. For streaming video and Internet any of the first-gen devices are fine.
I'm thinking of getting one from eBay
This or this
Would it be a bad idea, I've really no interest in one of the quad cores. The Tegra2 is more than enough power; And seeing as how CM9 nightlies just started for this device, it only makes me want it even more. I'd use it for just browsing internet, skype, etc, same stuff I use my E4GT for but just on a bigger screen. I absolutely love my E4GT and from what I've seen no other tablet has as good of a display as the galaxy tab series.

I do Craigslist before eBay because at least with Craigslist you and look at / inspect the device before buying...

I totally agree with you. If you need something that works well and gets everything done without headaches an iPad is by far a best product at the moment, if you don't depend on a tablet for real work but just for fun or tinkering then a Galaxy Tab may work as well as any other tablet out there I guess.
Sadly right now Android on tablets is a half baked product at best...
Sincerely,
A Galaxy Tab owner
