[Q] Galaxy Tab p1000 - Galaxy Tab General

I currently have a P1000 running an Arabic ROM as bought duty free in Dubai. I live in uk. I have managed to change the Sales area to allow Android market to be installed as banned under XSS. Upgraded to Gingerbread but of course the underlying ROM is still arabic so I have many unneeded apps such as Quran etc... not sure which apps im missing from a UK ROM either.
I have previous owned many windows phones mainly XDA's and have flashed many ROM's etc....I am aware all come with issues and functions that dont work fully and involve an element of risk.
Im looking for a UK ROM that is stable (more important that speed for me), by stable I mean all functions working and non-crashing/freezing etc.... BTW im never going to use this as a phone so have no issue have a non-sim ROM either if necessary (I only use Wifi).
I would appreciate some advice regarding which ROM's to look into and how the process on these devices work from start to finish.
Many thanks
Darren

Flash some stock ROM (JQ8 for example), which is meant for Europe. Flash it via Odin. Very simple

Is it safe to flash a rom in an African or Asian European SGS?

It's a question nobody can answer yet. Thanks in advance
Dunno if it's safe or not but i'm using asian rom on my Europe SGS now.
And I'm using a european rom on my Asian phone (and I've flashed so many roms).
Ones to avoid are the US/Canadian/Korean Rom's. Always double check it boots up with I-9000 (the canadian one is I-9000M, still works, but still not recommended).
But as always, there is always an element of risk installing untrusted roms. They might compromise your data, contain trojans, be for another phone or contain "optimisations" which cause serious issues longterm.
But haven't had any problems.. Yet (I think)
i've flashed various european firmwares (xwjm5, xwjm2, xxjp3) over my stock asian firmware(dxjf4)
now i'm currently running on the african firmware (jpjg8), so i doubt there's much problems.
Yes, its safe. They don't really differ - just different languages.
Though, if something goes wrong - not my falt =)
the languages can be set to english once you pop your sim card in. nothing bad should happen

gf is getting a galaxy tab from telstra, now i was wondering if these can be flashed to debrand them of the telstra software to make the software as it was from samsung or if its possible to root it and install newer android os such as 3.0 ?
which version of the tab do telstra use? the current is 10.1 right?
I have now flashed my Optus SGT several times with various ROMs, and I am sure that the Telstra Tabs can also be done successfully. However, unless you are already very comfortable with this process, I would recommend a lot of reading in this forum before trying anything like you want to do.
I have found this forum to be a mine of information on the topic, and there is a very good starting guide in the Galaxy Tab Android Developers Forum - [REF] ***Galaxy Tab Directory (Bible)*** 2/19/2011
Unfortunately I haven't yet figured out how to do the link, but you would certainly find it with a search on "Galaxy Tab Directory (Bible)"
Hope this helps.
PS - My current preference is for Overcome 1.2.3
cheers mate, im proficient in putting roms on my htc desire so i assume it would be a similar affair with this device, shall look into what you have mentioned and its great to here that roms do exist for this device.

Hi all,
I have recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G on the Telstra Network here in Australia. I've searched this forum completely (well to the best of my ability) and cannot find the info that I want.
I would like to get rid of the Telstra bloatware on the phone and install a custom rom from this site. I cannot find anything to do with this particular model and don't want to stuff this up so any help here would be appreciated.

Doubt you'll find much (any ?) custom firmware for this phone. Only sold by one telco here, only works (as intended) on one network. Not a lot of incentive for devs (most of whom don't live in AU) to develop for it.

Hi, Quick Question here.

Ive got a Samsung galaxy tab which has a reference band base version P7500UBKL1
While searching for a custom rom I ran across different versions of the tablet XXLQ8 or XWLP5 or UELPL
My main question is, Could i flash any of these roms and have it working?
If i do flash one of these would i loose the ability to use 3g? or would it just brick it? thank you for the support.

XXLQ8 is for Italy, XWLP5 for Baltic countries and third, I don't know (USA?). I think all of them are working in 7500. While
installing You can select Your native language, and that's all. In certain regions, as in Finland where I'm from the official ICS
is going to come maybe in some months, so nowadays I have installed Toldo's Jellybean ICS v.6 and it's working just great.

Hello,
I am totally new to this forum and to android as well
this is the first time i got android running phone, namely Galaxy S4.
My location is Georgia, Tbilisi, and i got the phone which is manufactured for korean market.
the phone came with many korean programs installed. news feeds are also in korean.
i would like to re-install the operational system, Rom or how it is called.
i would like to install the international one, in order to get all updated in my country without any restrictions.
please advice what should i do and how
thank in advance
The first you should do is: read, read, read, read and read. You should know what are some basic terms before start to "mod" ur phone like ROM, FIRMWARE, BOOTLOADER, RECOVERY, CSC, KNOX, ODIN... etc. You can use XDA search for them. You can ask then when you understand how they work. Good luck :highfive:
