Can someone take a look at this picture and tell me why my SDK is not updating to revision 16? It keeps giving me an error and I've tried turning the antivirus off too.. Thanks again!
Yeh, that happens for the SDK Tools bit. Just go into android-sdk/temp and extract the tools zip file and copy that into the android-sdk folder, replacing the original and outdated tools folder. If that doesn't work and gives an error, move the zip file elsewhere e.g. desktop and extract and replace the original tools folder in android-sdk.
Thank you so much! Worked like a charm!
HTC Thunderbolt & ASUS Transformer Rooted!
Congratulations I might buy myself a Transformer Prime when it comes out in Australia, sounds like a very worthwhile buy. Anywho, back on topic, I never bothered to figure out why the SDK update fails like that though I have a sneaking suspicion that one of the smaller components/tools may be open whilst it is updating or it might just be glitched.
You should, it seems like it will be a great tablet! But I think it might be a glitch, but I don't know. Everything worked smoothly after it transferred though.

hey guys, I'm about too pull my hair out because for the love of god I cannot unzip the android 7-zip file!!! It keeps telling me it can't allocate enough memory. If anyone could be so kind as to help me out it would be GREATLY appreciated. This is on my hd2 with 7zip installed.
dude, any particular reason why you want to unzip the archive from within the device? as far as i know, large archives will give you trouble when unzipping on the device due to limited RAM memory and/or limited temporary space on the device memory.
if i was you, i would simply use my pc to perform the unzip and then copy the unzipped contents onto the device...simple eh?
your never gonna get that extracted on youre phone, and you cant really do much with it anyway just leave it to the dev's
@ASCIIker... yup, my computer died. Thanks for the answers guys.

if the device is all you have to take a crack at unzipping that file, one suggestion i can think of is to go file-by-file and/or folder-by-folder, i.e. pick a few files/folders, extract them, and move on to do the same with the next set of files/folders. this will only work if the archive contains multiple neatly sized files/folders...this method won't work if the archive just contains one big file!
only other thing i can think of is to try another software to try to unzip the archive. i understand you're trying a mobile version of 7zip...how about pocketrar? also, i think resco explorer has built in zip file support as well...
let us know if any of the above works for you. if all else fails, i hope your pc is fixed soon, good luck!
just an update. I was able to extract the second android download(without sense), but not the first- with pocketrar. Appreciate that ACSIIker. I guess I took for granted this phone has more memory and faster processor than my first few computers!! Just assumed it could handle the workload- O well
Hi,
I live in China and got an already rooted legend from a super friendly little shop in the neighbourhood here, but it came with a horrendous goapk.com rom which severely locked down my ability to install anything from the market - instead, it tried to force me into this relatively useless Chinese goMarket thing. So, waiting patiently, I finally installed the MoDaCo custom ROM last week and everything is running sweetly.
Only now I find I actually miss a couple of the customisations the Chinese ROM had on it. In particular, the htc_cime was very useful to me because it supported handwriting input - the Google Pinyin IME is less useful to Chinese noobs like me who can't read the sound of the characters and need to input the handwriting.
I have had a http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7276627 rummage around these threads and found lots of htc_cime packages, none of which work on Legend under Froyo. Does anybody have a solution? The apk's that do install die immediately when I try to input text, and I don't know what to do with the zip files available on that site - I can extract them, but then it says "Application not installed" without any further help.
Cheers and thanks! Maybe the IME will turn up when 2.2 finally comes out for stock Legends, which will surely happen any minute now
So, a few hundred reads and no replies. Seems like a difficult issue, and obviously not many people are interested in using Chinese handwriting. Should I post this on the development thread? Can anyone at least give some advice on how to install these .zip distribution packages? I know how to install a .apk using the file manager, is some other app necessary to install the .zips?

I just downloaded the .zip file from your link and it had the .apk file inside it and another zip (?).
A zip file is a zip file, they are not android specific, have been around at least 20 years now, it is a compressed file, windows or whatever os you use should be able to open it no problems and then just extract/copy the apk inside to your phones sd card and install it, you also need to open the other zip file INSIDE the zip file (yay recursion) and extract/copy the folder to your sd card as well.
I didn't install it myself as I am still on éclair.
It may be that ZIP files are not Android specific, but to install one you should flash it with ROM Manager or from Clockworkmod Recovery. I don't know if extracting the zip and installing the .apk is working like that. The reason for doing this is mainly because some files cannot be written or replaced when phone is in normal use. From that link I saw it is a signed package (by the name) and it should be installed via ROM Manager or recovery
Hi again,
I tried unzipping the .apk file and installing it, but also no luck. I am fairly sure the .apk installer references the "zi" folder ("zi" means character in Chinese), as that folder seems to contain a lot of files describing the metrics and probably recognition of each character as you write it. Still no luck though.
Using the ROM manager to install packages seems a bit like overkill though - if the Google IME can be installed as an apk without rebooting, surely any IME can be installed like that?
I might ask htc about this when the official 2.2 FOTA comes out, if I claim I had it before and it wasn't in the update they might just send me an .apk that will sort this out once and for all. No big hopes on that one though.
Cheers,
Leon
Found at http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-install-leaked-mango-7720-rtm-on-your-wp7-device-guide/
First of all, grab the file named “7720.rar” from here.
Follow this Mango beta installation guide. Although you can update straight from Nodo, this way will make the remaining procedure much simpler.
Now we come back to the zip file we downloaded earlier. Extract its contents to a secure place in your computer.
In the extracted contents, look for the Zune beta client and install it.
Make sure that step 2 worked fine and you are now on 7712. Once that has been done, go to the folder you extracted and copy the folder named “RCToRTM”.
Go to “C:\” and paste the folder there.
In the pasted folder, look for a file named “ISVTo7720.bat”. Right-click on it and run as administrator.
This will instigate a flurry of updates, don’t panic if it takes time, it’s supposed to be that way. And if all goes according to plan, you will have Windows Phone 7.5 Mango running on your phone!
last week I tryed the above method but it doesn't work. the update will go wrong when the program is trying to make a backup of you're phone....
you can give it a try, because you will not harm or damge you're phone with the method.
You will destroy your sd card if you try this.
Gone back to android for now then. Awaiting ripe Mango patiently. Thanks.
Description:
The AndroidLib Expansion Project was created to bring support of more Android devices to my AndroidLib.dll project I'm working on. This project is a Windows executable (compiled batch script) that you will run on your computer with your Android device connected. This will NOT run automatically; it will give you a prompt to run after opening.
The main purpose of this project is to collect data about new phones for AndroidLib.dll, not about your specific phone, but about how it transfers specific data through it's shell and through the Android Debug Bridge (ADB), and more importantly, how that output is formatted.
This information will not be shared with anyone other than myself, and will only be used for further developing AndroidLib.dll to support many more Android devices than it currently does.

Check the Desktop folder in %USERPROFILE%\Desktop as well instead of just the graphical desktop. I have tested it working on 5 different computers here...
Can you upload to another site

Yeah, you can, if you send me the link to it.. but I just wrote that upload script so it would just go straight to my server.. Upload it to mediafire if you would like.
I realize now that this exe may not have worked correctly. I've had 3 reports now of no zip being created on the desktop. I am working to solve this issue, as you see in the source.. it really has no reason not to be creating on the desktop.
I'll be glad to help, if only it created a zip file for me to upload.
EDIT: I checked the %USERPROFILE%/Desktop as well as running a search for anything containing "androidlib" in C:\Users... nothing.
2 things.
1st, it won't make a zip file for anyone that doesn't have 7zip or the required folder structure (there is no standard environment variable of %myfiles% - just use %temp% instead), and it's assuming subfolders exist for output of the adb commands.
2nd, why is it an exe file when it's a batch file? Please link the bat file instead of an exe. I'm running the bat file I copied and pasted from the source and it runs just fine.

Well, if you knew who I was or looked at anything else I have written, you'd realize that I know what I'm doing, and that I would not assume everyone has the standard environment variable %MYFILES% or have 7zip installed. I am assuming in this program, actually, that the end user does NOT have the android sdk set up (or in their path) and does NOT have any 7 zip binaries. I created a self extracting exe out of my batch file that includes adb.exe, the 2 required adb dlls, and the 7 zip binary, all in the global variable %MYFILES% (aTemp folder in %temp%). It works fine. Just need to figure out why it creates a zip on all of my computers, and not any of yours. I appreciate the feedback though.

Thanks for letting me know you ran a full search and nothing came up still, that actually does help me out, telling me it didn't write to anywhere else. I'll have a working version for you guys in a little bit.
Ok guys, fixed the problem. Works great now. Check the source code and VirusTotal report in the first post if you need to. Thanks again for everyone helping with this! And special thanks to nebenezer for testing the new builds!

Lol - calm down mate. I wasn't criticising - I was trying to help. I get why it's an exe now you've explained and that makes sense. Glad you got it working anyway. I'll upload a couple of files for you later.

Ok thanks for clarifying. The way you presented your self in your post sounded like somewhat of "this n00b doesn't know what he's doing, and I'm gonna let him know that" lol I'm a pretty chill guy, I just don't appreciate when people do that.
And thank you for doing some uploads later! I appreciate it!
This is my upload link because i couldn't upload with your page. It says "The file you are trying to upload is not a .zip file. Please try again."

It works and I have uploaded the zip

Apologies if that's how I came across - it wasn't intended. I've just uploaded a couple of zip files for you.
Thank you to everyone who has uploaded a zip so far! This is really helping development on AndroidLib. I am still accepting more uploads, so if you feel like helping develpment of AndroidLib, feel free to download and run the exe! I'm needing a few more Samsung devices in particular, those seem to vary in output between themselves.
Have you got an upload from an Motor ATRIX 4g yet? If not ill see if I can sort it for you.

Hey everyone,
I'm trying to comply update to my device using the B32 firmware downloaded on ZTE USA Support site. The file is large, too large for FAT32, at 5.39GB.
I have tried copying it using android transfer on my mac, ejecting the microSD and using a regular SD adapter and copying it that way, and I have also tried just downloading right from the Software Update screen. The first two methods errored with (https://ibb.co/kjh4yG).
The software update fails with a message explaining that the firmware found and downloaded by the phone does not match the device...?
I have been on the old firmware for what feels like a year now. I'm hoping you all can shed some light on this.
Thanks

You have two ways to do this:
-If your internet is decent enough just forget about the SD card and download the update on your phone. Afterwards, download 'RAR' from the play store, find the downloaded file (in Downloads), and open the zip file. If you find a PDF and a file called 'update.zip' inside, simply select it and unzip it to the root of your sd card (put '/storage/emulated/0/ on the Destination path). So you will have an 'update.zip' file there. You don't need to unzip this one. Now go to Settings, Updates, then let it scan and it should find the file, update and voila
-Format your SD Card to exfat and pop the file right in
It's weird that the update file is that huge, since usually files for the A2017G are around 2.1 gigs
It worked my friend!!!
I installed RAR, then went inside the downloaded file, found update.zip and unzipped it to '/storage/emulated/0. Did not find any PDF file though, not sure what that would have been for..? Anyway, saw the MiFavor firmware update screen which meant we were on our way to finish line. After that it booted to a small tiny linux penguin symbol and black background. Tried rebooting by holding down the power button. Rebooted. Saw penguin again for like 5 seconds, then booted straight to the axon wavy weird startup sequence. I DID IT!! I really appreciate the help on this one. Great idea. And it worked flawlessly.

Lol. The signup dialog said 'Choose an username...', so i said, why not?
I think you downloaded directly the update.zip. Maybe the RAR part wasn't needed, I dunno. If there's a folder somewhere there called 'update' then just delete it, and the update.zip too
A larger than 5Gb update would have to be the file fully unzipped into a folder structure.
Update files are zipped and that's what the phone wants.

I downloaded one of the two raw zips from the ZTE USA site that had a very long name.zip with all numbers. The "update.zip" was nestled inside after unzipping the file on the phone. I just picked that file and moved it to ther root and applied the update. It went through successfully. Did i not apply it correctly? Should i have just renamed that whole file to "update.zip" and moved the entire folder? A little confused. But i imagine if the update took and i saw the 32 in the current build of the device it took. But im not sure.

Nah that's okay. I thought you downloaded the 'update.zip' directly. Happens sometimes
It’s weird the update was only about 2 GB. What do you think was the rest of the file?
Maybe in case it needed the full firmware. In this case it didn’t probably. Just a guess

No, that doesn't make sense. No idea really.
It couldn't have gone wrong so don't stress out. Your phone works. If it didn't work then yeah, something was wrong...
