just formatted it with EASYUS to FAT32 and it works. Copied my 32gb content over and did not even have to redo my home screens. I also partitioned it to use with link2sd but have not yet tried out linking any apps.
Sweet dude where did you find one of them? I've been looking but no go so far

well done...
any screenshot, to confirm...
i'm going to buy it, if it really works....
thanks...
I bought from play.com directly and it works. I saw them on amazon.co.uk cheaper but the one from amazon says 2-4 weeks delivery and the one from their market place third party i did not want to take the risk with. I can do the screenshot later but I promise you it works. I made it into two partitions now one FAT32 and another ext2 for link2sd and started moving some apps incl data and library files to get more internal space. so far a did only a couple of apps and after reboot it shows more free internal memory but I want to do more to see proper effect. will report on that later.
SDHC or SDXC?
Ok, we'll wait for it, can you show us also the storage info screenshot of your link2sd, I just wanna see how you did that 2 partition, mine has ext2 only..

hwowowo ,i can't really imaging . . . .the Xperia Play can use 64Gb micro SD ,really impressive . . .maybe in early time i must by 64 GB for my PLAY ,good thank for you
Forgive me for not really understanding this thread, but a few questions:
Why is it so amazing that a 64gb SD card works? Why wouldn't a 64gb SD card work? Is this likely to only work with certain brands or certain phones? If I get a sandisk 64gb SD card should I expect any problems?

The Xperia Play is listed as only having an SDHC MicroSD port. SDHC officially, only supports up to 32GB per the specifications. The newer SDXC specification supports capacities up to 2TB.
That said, I think the OP poster should use one of the the free testing apps in the market like SD Card Tester, etc. to try filling up the card with real data. I've often seen cases of cards reporting more capacity than they can actually hold/access and errors may not occur until you try to actually fill up the space with real data despite the reported capacity from the OS appearing ok. This is especially common with Chinese e-bay sellers, etc. selling mislabeled memory cards that start giving errors when you start filling them up.

I know what you mean that's way did not even wont to buy from marketplace amazon sellers just in case they had fakes for some reason. I have filled it with the content of almost full 32GB card and did not have any problems yet - most fake cards are much smaller capacity than 32gb so I don't think I will have a problem.

The reason I was so amazed is that I asked people on the forum here and was told it would not work above 32GB but it does. Someone on the tablet did the same thing with 128GB SD card but not micro form factor. So now we know and I hope it helps someone who like me before was not sure if it would work.

Try going over 32gb with data and see what happens when trying to read it back. The free SD card tester in the market can make it very easy..slide the slider to the right and see how it does.

thanks for the screenshot you provided...
again question...
any lag with HD games?
I find it faster but it could be because I also started using app2sd and now have more internal memory. I used to get force close/wait messages before even in settings and play launcher menus and my low on space message would be triggered frequently - now it is no problem

Very close to filling it over 32gb. When final dexter is aired i will fill it over 32gb and test.

Hi, I just bought a Sandisk 64GB card for my Xperia Play and I can confirm it's working fine. I used the above app to verify my card that already had about 14GB of data on it, which can also be seen in the screenshot below (the max amount of data i could test was ~46GB, which is about right... 60-14 = 46).
I set it to write another 25GB for a total of ~39GB and it had to problems.
This took about three hours to test, and if i shut off the screen it stopped testing... as you can see my battery almost died. I'm glad I didn't try filling it up fully
Anyway, I hope this helps someone.

Since the reading is 1.8GB you appear to lose .2GB. BUT there are two ways to measure a "Byte"
This site summarises the issue nicely and you can rest assured you are not losing anything!

Is that correct?
I'm pretty sure that Fat (Fat16) is able to read up to 2GB. It's if, and when we move to 4GB that Fat32 is necessary.

a 2gb card will always show up as 1.8gb.. they read 1k bytes as a megabyte instead of 1.2k bytes which is how everyone else measures.. So you really do have a "2" gb card(the way they see it) but on the phone and your computer, it's only 1.8gb

Hi I brought it from my local computer fair for £30, its a very fast card, I've just formated it using Fat32, and its working better than before. My reason for buying a 2Gb card is when I play music for more than an hour using a 1GB card the Tytn freezes, so I thought if it has more memory to paly with then it will not freeze.
I could be wrong, i'll let you know after the test.
I've just discoverd that under sync on windows media player you can format the micro card directly on the Tytn
Thanks for all your help

You're on the right track, but to be more clear and specific:
memorys and harddrives etc. are announced as binary bits for some reason, in this case 2 000 000 000 bits.
For example 1kb is kilo bits because it is based on the metric system and a metric "kilo" is 1000,
but the real space is measured in bytes. And 1kB is 1024 bits. (Not 1.2k which is 1200)
So the 2Gb (bits) is in bytes about 1.86GB.
You divide 2*10^9 with kilobytes (1024) three times.
data is normally measured in binary code, the prefixes for the multiples are based on the metric system.
And the nearest binary number to 1000 is 2^10 or 1024. That's why 1024 bytes was named a kilobyte. (notice difference between bit and byte.)

Could someone advise what the best settings are for a ScanDisk 2gb standard microSD?
-Which FAT?
-Which clusters' size?
Unless you are not overly concerned about wasted space then avoid FAT (AKA FAT 12), FAT 16 and go for FAT 32 with its greater number of sectors of a smaller size = less wasted space. Sector size between 0.5 and 4kb should be fine - you decide balance of speed against performance.

LMAO i couldnt stop laughing when i read this.
SD CARD LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!
rofl i lol'd too. im sure it was an oversight or something. anyway im still curious if the device can even use the whole transfer rate offered by a class six. Can anyone confirm that this phone can utilize a class 6 to its full potential?
*so i read up that wiki. according to that then there is no point in getting anything over a class two since the top speed it hits with a class 6 is .5 MB/s and the class 2 bandwidth limit is 2Mb/s*
sooooo any thoughts on this?
sandisk does have a 32gb microsd.... but it's class 2 and $200
http://sandisk.com/products/mobile-memory-products/sandisk-microsdhc
not in stock now though.... it was a bit back....
neato, but if it was in stock wouldn't it have the same performance on our phone as a class 6? From what i wrote earlier, i believe our speed is capped by a hardware limitation so 4+ class speeds wont help?.
id really like an expert to confirm this.
I would also like an experts advice on this matter... I am stuck with a 2g micro card and am looking to buy the biggest one I can stick in my phone.

Depends on how soon you want it. Also, I presume you are using a similar device to the TP... I was in a BestBuy recently and they had an 8gb microsd in-stock! The only place I was able to get a 16gb microsd(class 2), was online unfortunately. Of course, I did see a few 32GB usb sticks for under $100 and grabbed one up, several months ago...

save money, get a slower class. 16 gb works.

I am Confused and hesitant which color to purchase, I saw the white version in shops here cause it's only the color available till now, but don't like it's interfere with silver bezel, deep grey in youtube looking gorgeous but not see it in my hand and want to take one online, for those who has available in there country, is grey looking better ?

Therefore, Deep Grey is the best.
And, for those of us with Unlimited Data on our rooted phones, WiFi only is best.
I like the white 16gb. Just pop in a 64/32GB memory card and your good to go
A grey, 32gig with a 64gig card in it (like mine, for example ) is even gooder to go. And, really, compared to other tablets, an extra 16gig internal for $50 is a bargain.
Plus, don't forget that without rooting, you can only install apps to the internal memory, so 16gig could become a problem.

You do know that the external memory card is good only for storing pics, videos, datas, doc etc. but most apps if not all specially games which eats a lot of space can only be installed on your pecious internal storage so having at least 32gb. Internal is a plus.

To be honest, white looks cleaner and better on video and in pictures; however, when I went to the stores to check it out, deep gray also looked okay (I think I just prefer gunmetal gray over .. the blueish gray that it is) and kind of pretty as well.

Hello guys,
As my sandisk 64 gig UHS1 microsd card became overcrowded, I would like to share with you my project of being able to fit a 128 gig SD card on my xperia play.
It's a Kingston Class 10 128 GB full size SD card (no 128 microsd on market yet. no money for an sandisk UHS1, as it is double the price -but the write speed is pretty much the same in my tests, so.... ).
This is not fake. The screens are from my own beloved xplay. I have the phone for everyday use (no hanging stuff from it).
I will come back with some details of how I pulled this of, if anybody is interested and after I finish with my exams. :|
As checking the screens below, remember that I have partitioned the card in 3: one 108gig FAT32 partition for storage, one 7.88 gig ext4 partition for link2sd and one 768 meg partition for swap. and that I have many many tweaks and optimisation in order to keep it smooth with all that software on it

Could I ask a question?
Would this not be achievable by partitioning your sdcard for example half of it as ext1-4 and attempt to use it as two separate cards?
Anyway very nice work.

I don't really understand your question but what I can tell you is that the "main" partition, the partition that will be your /sdcard, storage partition, should be FAT32. I didn't tried ext for /sdcard. I donno if it works.
If you like to use a card let's say as m stick and sdcard for your phone, yes you could make two partition. The first one will be mounted for your phone as /sdcard (mmcblk0p1) and the rest wont't be used (if you don't use link2sd or swap).
For those who don't know: The advantages of having a second ext partition for link2sd are:
- The software you have installed on /sdext do not stop when you unmount your sdcard in order to connect if to your PC
- The software installed on sdcard keeps dalvik cache on internal and you cannot link it individually if you, let's say, link the entire dalvik cache with link2sd (dalvik for the software on sdcard will be ommited and kept on internal). You can only link dalvik if the software is on internal or on sdext partition.
For the rest I meant to use as a separate card. Swap partitions.

Am I the only one that picked up on the "full-size sdcard, as 128 GB micro-sd is not available yet" part? That would mean either (1) somehow mounting an external USB card reader, (2) somehow modifying your phone's sd slot... (I don't think so), or (3) this is some sort of early April Fool's joke, ie H-O-A-X!
Pictures of the hardware, please! It would be cool to be able to do this, if I decide to make my phone just a gamepad when I retire it.

Flag!
Since there are no 128gig micro SD's on the market, and the OP has not updated to explain how this was achieved. Calling BS
Closing thread until OP can give a higher level of detail
I was reading dfferent information about that so far.
Is it possible to use the 128GB Micro-SD Card on the Note 4, like it is on the S5?
Thanks!

Yes it is. In fact, I'm using a 128GB in my Note 3 right now. Look on amazon for the sanDisk 128GB microsd. I heard that one works with the S3 and up.
I would also like to find this out as well I assume it will but rather than guess like previous poster would like to see someone actually test it.
Both gsmarena and android central state 64gb max and that is the same for the note edge.
A lot of older phones stated they would only support 16gb micro sd cards but would work with 32gb cards so assume if you had a decent card you should be fine just stay away from the cheapies.
It'll work. My 64gb card, when formatted Fat32 works in my old N95, so any suggestion 128gb cards won't work here is utterly false.

There's no guessing going on here, it 100% will work.
128GB cards work in phones all the way back to the S2, they'll be just fine in the Note 4.
I believe the confusion circling the internet is based on the Note 4 having "up to 64GB INTERNAL storage". Any device that supports SDXC can "technically" support up to 2TB, but the tech is currently limited to 128GB. Disregard anything people are saying about the Note 4 only supporting up to a 64GB MicroSD, it's complete nonsense.
Just bought a 128gb class 10 and was getting nervous with all the specs calling out for 64gb max in the Note 4. The Note 4 has more upgrades, specs & build than any other new SmartPhone this year. Love the Note 4, looks, build and specs. Only thing I was hoping for was 64gb of int storage or maybe even 128. Manufacturers need to start stepping up int storage, this nickel & dime crap is lame. Never have enough int storage. Getting mine in white.

My concern with the 128 GB card, is that it's not exactly rated to be the quickest, which makes me wonder, if it's going to suffer as a result. The card I currently have in my S5 is only a 64GB Samsung Evo (48Mbps), but seem to do fine. I just don't want a weak link.
Personally, I'm going to compromise with a 64GB, but have almost double the speed of the currently available 128GB card.
This is the card I opt'd for, to use with the Note 4. -HERE

Samsung Evo is up to 90MB/s. It is pretty fast. 128GB can't reach this speed. I also use Meenova Dash reader to extend the storage.
As far as I know this is from Samsung officially and it says up to 64 GB micro sd maximum.

Correct. They've said nothing about 128gb, and have only mentioned the 64gb SD Cards.
If this comes true I will not buy a Note 4.

Cool. A lot of other people will.
Even if it can, the card is still too expensive. 64gb is the good zone.

Interestingly I just visited their official micro site of Note 4.It justifies what you said. NOW, go to the official micro site of Note 3 and there you will see it says the same i.e., up to 64 GB whereas people who are using a Note 3 are already using a 128 GB card in their note 3's which are working.
Hope that this will be the same with the note 4.
Don't worry. Samsung said the same about Note 3 but all(most) people can use 128GB.
Ya, I'm even using a 256GB sdxc card in my note 3 and it works fine. Total space on my note 3 is 288GB. Don't worry about the note 4. It will support just as much if not more.
Can you share a link for the 256GB sdxc?
