CM7 Stuck at Booting - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
So I had CM7 flash on my NC for a few days after I got it and everything ran fine. I decided that I wanted to try out HC so I flashed that on eMMC yesterday, unfortunately it was pretty unstable and I couldn't get Market to work properly, so I decided to flash back to CM7. There wasn't any hiccup with the process with CWM, but when I try to boot the NC after flashing CM7, I get stuck at the loading screen. I've reflashed several times now and still no luck. Does anyone know how I can get around this?

[Q] Installing Virtuous Fusion

Hey everyone.
I would appreciate some help or suggestions. Maybe someone will know the problem, which I can't seem to figure out. First thing first, I couldn't post in the release thread because I don't have the proper post count.
Anyways, I am not new to installing ROMs on my phone. I can install and run CyanogenMOD easily, and have done so many times. My phone is rooted. So I went from the stock ROM on the MyTouch 4G to CyanogenMOD 7, with no problems. I used it for a while, and then when I saw Virtuous Fusion come out, I wanted that installed. I had tons of trouble getting it to work, even though I was doing everything I was supposed to do. Reset my phone, cleared all caches and data, pretty much cleared everything out. I tried installing from the zip several times in clockwork recovery, and it wouldn't get me past the boot screen. The boot screen would either loop forever, and never get past it, or the boot screen would load up for 3 seconds and then the screen would go completely black (in a state where it looked like the phone turned off).
Eventually, after about the 10th install (which were done all the same exact way), the Fusion ROM decided to work on me and everything went perfectly. This was the first day it was released. I saw the ROM has been through some updates, so I decided to do the recommended clean install of the new version. I am having the same problem as I did before with the boot screen. I temporarily flashed Cyanogenmod so I can have a working phone again, but I would really like to be on Fusion. My favorite ROM out of all the ones I have tried. Does anyone know what could be causing this?
What version of ClockworkMod are you using? Make sure you're on 3.0.2.4 to insure ultimate reliability. Also verify the MD5 hash that eViL provides before flashing. Not doing so means you could have any number of problems caused by a corrupt file download.
Are you rebooting into ROM MANAGER. This ROM is not suppose to be loaded while in the Android OS.

[Q] My Nook refuses to boot or power on. Help!

I have been running the kanged builds of CM9 for a while, but it began to get bogged down recently and would freeze up almost daily forcing a hard shutdown and reboot.
Sometime yesterday, it began to boot only into recovery no matter what option I tried in the Cyanoboot menu. From there I tried a factory reset and wipe dalvik to hopefully get back into CM9 and here's where the strangeness really kicked off.
Clockwork (which was running off emmc) would freeze in the middle of the factory reset just like it would when CM9 was running (the graphics would degrade slightly upon inspection of the screen).
So, I grabbed my old sdcard with clockwork recovery on it to boot from sd, and I run into the same problem again. Freezing before a wipe, factory reset, or install from sd can complete.
Now, after each failed attempt in clockwork (sd and emmc) it sticks at a backlit black screen and after a hard shutdown refuses to boot (sd or emmc) for about an hour, only to repeat the madness again.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can try from here or familiar with a similar situation?
My sd clockwork version is 3.2.something and I've also tried 3.0.1.something.
UPDATE: For reasons unknown, my Nook seems to be booting regularly as of this morning. However, I am still unable to get a successful flash out of any rom. The closest I've gotten to success is stuck in a boot loop. I think from here I'll likely be able to figure it out, but just as before...
Any help is welcome and appreciated!
I had the same problem with the black screen when trying to install different roms on mine. I just kept clicking the power button and after a few minutes it would kick back on every time.
There is an entire thread specifically on this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949699
As far as CM9 I can't help you much there. I would just try to install a different rom, and hope that works.
Thanks!
I had seen that thread, but I thought my experience was a different; either way, I've managed past that problem using a method similar to yours.
If this helps any, I have been trying to to 7.2 RC1 for a while as well, but it will not get me any further than the stuck boot screen same as the CM9.
Have you tried to follow the tread on returning it to stock ?? I would reformat and repartition it and return it to stock ... then make sure it runs. After that I would try to reinstall the new roms ...
Just my 2 cents

N7 wont boot after flashing Kernel - borderline bricked

Okay so I finally got my shiny new Nexus 32GB a couple days ago. Rooted it last night no problem. This morning I flashed Trinity Alpha4. worked great but my OC/governer/etc settings wouldn't stick. So I tried to flash the latest build of Faux Kernel. After flashing it got stuck in a boot loop. So I got back into Recovery and flashed Trinity back on again. Now it won't boot at all. After the splash screen the device completely locks up at a blank black screen. Went back to Recovery, wiped cache/dalvik, reflashed Trinity. After going through the "Android has been upgraded, optimizing apps" thing, it got stuck on "starting apps". After a couple min. I forced it to reboot, and again just gets stuck at a blank screen. I apparently completely forgot to do a Nandroid backup which I realized when I tried to restore it back lol.
Anywho, any thoughts on getting the thing to boot? Bricking it 2 days after I got it home is not my idea of a good time.

You might try and flash the stock kernel which should not allow any under/over clocking or under/over volting. Otherwise flash back to stock using the manual way here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796 or download the Nexus 7 toolkit and use it to do the same.
Try WugFresh's Nexus Root Toolkit. It has an option to go back to stock if you're soft-bricked.
Well I just did a factory restore/wipe (because Im SO looking forward to setting everything up again...) and it made zero difference. I'll try the stock kernel if someone could point me in the right direction to find a copy of it.
NVM found it. I'll give it a shot.
Ummmm okay then. I had my N7 turned off while looking for a solution to this fiasco. I picked it up so I could flash the stock kernel, and it had turned itself back on. Not only that, but it was fully booted up. Granted it's back to the initial setup after doing a factory restore, but there we go. It automagically fixed itself. Now to spend a couple hours putting everything back how it was. Yay.

Stuck in bootloop

Very very strange I've never seen this before, so I was just doing my typical day walking around at work and all of a sudden I feel my phone got hot, pulled it out of my pocket and it was stuck on boot screen. So I did a battery pull to get it back to the rom and it just stopped at the bootscreen, after that I tried a dirty flash, then a clean flash...all I see is a bootscreen never gets past it. Recently updated to new firmware 2 weeks ago and did notice it was strange when I flashed the GE Rom kept asking me to Install SU. Anyone got any idea how to fix this? Only issue i noticed was during the install of the rom i get a unable to mount /preload but besides that everything completes fine

Use odin to go back to full stock, upgrade to MF9, do a factory reset, later root the device install recovery, do a full wipe install GE rom fix permissions. Report back on what happens. (Keep in mind this will wipe internal memory MAKE BACKUP!)
