Hey there,
I have a mytouch4g with cyanogenmod 7. The wifi isnt working, it just turns on, then it freezes and it closes again. I tried different roms and still it isnt working. On the stock rom it worked for just a few tries, then it stopped working and gives me an error message. The log says something about not being able to find the 'supplicant'.

Which wifi router are you using?
Security (wep, wpa)?
Are you hiding your network name?

I'm not sure whether I understand your reply but I am not even able to scan for the networks. When I press wifi on, it turns on, freezes, turns off. When I try to turn on portable wifi hotspot it immediately says 'error'.

are you running any custom Kernels?
Have you tried running any other radio files?
Baseband version:
12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M

I assume it is a custom Kernel version. About the radio files, I read that it actually has nothing to do with the wifi so I havent tried to change that. What I would like to add is that somehow (perhaps it is normal) I am not able to use my mobile network internet and the mobile network calling at the same time. I noticed while in the car using the GPS and calling (handsfree ofcourse) the maps stop loading because there is suddenly no internet while I call.
Try flashing a different kernel like a Darkside team one
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
I used both darkside V4 and another one based on CM7 it seems. Both give no change.
I was asking more details on your home wifi setup to be sure you don't have some kind of special config...
One of my archos (on froyo) was unable to connect to my network with wpa2 and the router set to channel 12 and +.
Are you able to use your wifi in a cafe or work/school?
Sent from my HTC Panache / CM7 using xda premium.
No the wifi is unable to scan networks, unable to add networks, and unable to turn on.
i have same problem .. can u advice we?
Well, first off you're correct about it being non radio related.
Do you format /system between rom flashes? That is where the modules for controlling wifi reside. Somehow i doubt that's it, though.
I have the same issue, was happening when unrooted as well, bought the phone used, so i have no clue.
I did try formatting system, and everything before flashing roms. any other ideas
Had the same problem. Its nothing with kernel, rom, radio, etc. I even restored my phone to stock and turned S-on. Wifi still didnt turn on at all or work. So I sent my phone in to htc for repair.
- if u hav warranty (call htc to check), then unroot it and send it to them for repair.
My Galaxy Player has the same issue, I managed to get it working better by going into the wifi config file and fixing the directory for the wifi module, I still get the error, but I can at least turn it on now and it stays on for a decent amount of time.

Ok I have a fair selection of android phones and tablets, the one device that only shows up in ddms and is detected by adb 1/100 times is the commtiva n700, anyone else have this problem? Or is it just my device which has been fact reset more times than I can count?
Dev platform : OSX
Dev project relies on WIFI
I never get to push from eclipse to this device due to it never connecting.
Anyone else have this issue with this device?

Hi first time poster here assuring you there will be some N00B statements.
Anyway, I was running 7.0.3 for a long time and randomly my phone decided to restart? It would get to the homescreen and then after about 7 seconds go straight the the blue skateboarding screen then back to homescreen and so on. I tried booting to recovery then wiping cache/ factory reset and it seemed to do the trick...for a night. The next morning the same event happened. I decided to update to 7.1.0RC1 and it booted but...I can't connect to wifi? it will won't connect and won't load any available networks. Also I would love to be able to go back to the stock rom (while still rooted) but I believe I have accidently delete the original rom a while ago, so I found a MT4G stock rom online and flashed that and that would be fine the only problem there is that I can't seem to get the OTA update that t-mobile released? In settings and about my phone it wont let me search for updates.
So here are my questions.
1. Is there a fix for 7.0.3 constantly restarting?
2. Is there a fix for 7.1.0-RC1's wifi issue?
3. If all else fails is there a way to get my phone back to stock rom (with root) so I can do the OTA update?
Sorry for all the questions..I really hope you guys can help! and please...like I said N00B over here so if you could explain thoroughly ...we all have to start somewhere right? hah.
Same Issue
I had this same issue however it was caused by a simple thing, a battery change. I found this slightly bigger battery online for my htc glacier as a backup battery. When I changed it, it started rebooting in loops (was using CM7.03 at the time). I did not know what it was and did not even notice my wifi was not working because it kept restarting anyways. I updated it to 7.1 and this is where I found out my wifi isnt working. I went back to my stock rom (a backup I made before I rooted the phone) and still it's not working.

If you want to update, just go to a tmo store and have them update it with their sd card.

why don't you try flashing another rom other than Cyanogenmod first? if the wifi issue is still there, then yes, flash the stock rom. a great rom you could try is Virtuous Unity.
It's still not working, tried virtuous unity and am now using the latest stock rom. Wifi still not working. Is there a way to re install the wifi driver? It keeps repeating about wifi supplicant this and that, and cannot configure driver. Im not able to quote this from the log since the log just keeps on logging new items.
Oh all of a sudden it works now, I have no idea how this happened. But it works. Does anyone know how come it works with the stockrom and not with any custom rom like cm or virtuous unity? I really dont want to use the stockrom.
Hi,
I intensively searched for my problem, but found always other non-related stuff.
Recently (last 1, 2 days) my WiFi didn't connect to any APs any more. I was using CN nightlies and franco kernel, so today I did update CN without franco. Afterwards I downgraded CN and did a radio update and now I tried the stock 4.2.2 image with the flash-all script, which also seemed to reflash my radio.
The default wifi dialog always displayed the saved wifis only. And after installing stock, the initial wifi dialog displayed "searching" only for a very long time. Sometimes I see some networks and I even managed to connect to mine, but it dropped immediately.
I know, this is very undetailed, but do you have any recommendations / logs to look out / smth which could point me in the right direction? Or is my hardware just broken?
logcat outputs this when turning wi-fi on (on stock 4.2.2, unrooted):
