hi guys got one of these phones and looking to convert it to android.
i used to have a zte blade which i used custom roms on.
having looked around on the net there appears to be a lot of threads and ways of doing it, through sd card and through the nand.
just a quick question what is the best way to convert ?
thanks in advance
nand.
you just need to install hspl, and magldr.
then, flash over clockwork mod to flash roms.
you can see it done on youtube.

'Is there a more stable ROM out there'
Read the ROM title, it's a BETA!! Of course there are more stable ROMs out there, this one isn't even for daily use (in my opinion). Firstly see this guide for how to flash, then as for ROMs you may want to try a CM7 ROM, these are fast and stable.
if you want safety (keep a warranty if you have one), ability to go back to winmo in a snap, and ease youre safest bet is SD rom!
if you are wanting to turn this bad boy into more of a NATIVE android/WP7 device get to flashing that NAND!
there are plenty of ROCK solid android roms available, however, ANY droid 4.x (ICS) roms at this point arent quite your solid everyday drivers. they (the AMAZING devs here) are still working out bugs with usb storage and camera conflicts. so if neither one of those are needed then go for it lol :-D
whatever method you choose (SD/NAND) I wish you good luck and a simple reminder ... READ, READ, READ!!!

Good choice of rom
You would have to flash a new Kernel which supports higher O/C frequencies. I personally haven't found much difference after doing this, but Dorimanx's Kernel supports up to 1.61GHz overclock
To flash, just enter CWM and flash .zip folder
thanks bud.

I would recommend not doing that, as you may get into the habit of Task29ing too much. this could cause problems (search bad blocks on NAND) in future. You could probably get away with just reflashing CWM if you followed the rest of the steps correctly

The answer is easy, there no such thing as without a single issue. Even a real android phone have flaws. Hardware, software, and carrier, somewhere between them someone always messed up something. Now between those 4, if you like pure android with the latest update is tytung's ROM. With a little more style out of the box is HyperdroidGBX.

yes, but first, wipe/format, when in cwm you must wipe data to install new rom, and everything is the same.
so when in cwm i will
1. wipe data factory reset
2. wipe cache partitions
3. install zip from sd if I have all of my radio's and SPL's installed for the ROM
Correct me if im wrong.

Hi,
Once you get used to the process,it's very easy to change ROMS.
It all seems daunting to begin with, but if you read up well,it's fairly simple...
I never had a regular android phone,as I have come from WinMo.
But I've made my HD2 into an android phone and it's easy switching ROMS.
Read the thread I gave you and number 2 in my sig...
Enjoy
i have tried all the "fast" roms but i feel like HD2 CoreDroid DHD V1.6 EU&TMOUS[SKINNED&TWEAKED] is fast and a bit more stable and if you want a build without sense then i really like CME DHD2 Compact v1.6[Superlight][NoSense][RAFPIGNA 1.9OC]

You can try without wipe cache partitions. Only step 1. and 3. and reboot, and remmeber for unwritten rule, that always after complete FIRST boot, you POWER OFF and POWER ON your phone. IT will make things better. But not *reboot*
thanks

1.yes (except camera)
2.yes
2+. Nand is faster. But if you want to have dual boot, use SD Android.
3. Install SPL 2.08.HSPL, Do Task 29, Flash RADIO 2.15.XXX, install MAGLDR, Install WP7 or Nandroid. If you want to have Winmo 6.5, you dont need MAGLDR.
4. Yes. I think

your question is difficult to answer, as only you can chose which ones you'll like
best. there are loads here, i suggest you start reading.
for partitioning
this is the best one i use, its in the wiki
Personally i prefer gingerbread with cm7. All apps and games are working for me. Everything is just great. But its imo simple and minimalistic. But very cool.
There are some other builds like htc sense+gb and miui+gb hybrids out there, but for me not all games like asphalt and apps like swipepad are working. Sense brings nice widgets, a great ui and miui a very great, completly different and very customizable ui with it.
If there are problems with some apps or games with miui like for me, you could test the froyo based build. sense and miui.
Atm im using typhoons cm7 and im very satisfied. Another very great gb cm7 rom is pongsters. Im only using typhoons because its based on daily nightlies. Im sure you will like pongsters ;p or the other great roms out there. Like imilka, boyppc, ndt and so on they are all very great cookers and ive tested all of them.
Best thing is to test a few different roms and decide by yourself whats best for you.
All of those roms are installd by cwm (clockwork mod)
You can do flash your rom, format and partition your sd and lots of more things with it. All over the phone. For best you are reading the install instructions of each rom. The only thing you have to do over pc is to flash recovery layout which is used by your choosn rom amd copy your. zip rom file on sd. Copy files and mount your usb storage with clockwork recovery only. Magldr itselfs could damaging some files.
To partition your 8gb sdcard there is absolutly no pc needed. You have to load into ad recovery (clockwork mod) over magldr, choose advance and format or partition your sdcard. If i remenbering right. Choose 1gb ext partituon and 0mb swap partition and you are rdy to go (install your rom). Remember to do a backup of your files stored on sd.
Best tool to format and partitioning your sdcard is still gparted. But pls, dont format the wrong harddrives ;p
Might other members have some links for you. Im on mobile

I see everyone telling him mainly to find the best build himself, find what suits him.....(in his other threads) lets just give him a direct freaking answer so he'll stop making new threads.... ok.... HYPERDROID-GBX..... thats the best.... or Nexushd2-gingerbread... why? Because those two roms are not made for another device and ported for this device... they are compiled from scratch and optimimized just for this device.... and out of those two... for you... hyperdroid gbx is better because its themed nicely.... so there... hyperdroid gbx... thats the best nan rom there ever will be for you.... try it out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918899
And magldr would be the best bootloader for you to boot this off of nand, not cLK because cLK is too hard for you to install....

Its not the best. Its one of the best. He should try some roms and like everyone did see what he likes by himself.
And i would prefer pongsters hyperdroid gbx with cyanogenmod 7 (CM7) or typhoons CM7. Both very great roms. Typhoons is updated frequently.
Different roms for different tastes.

I need a simple upgrade from the original HD2 Android 2.2 to a stable 2.3.x version.
Can anyone suggest one? (This is not a "which is the best ROM" request.)
I just want one that is the simplest and working out of the box to flash from the original MGLDR 2.2 Android on a TMOUS HD2. I'm flashing for an older friend for whom I installed the original some time ago, and he asked me to help him get Gingerbread, and I'm a little 'out of the loop' on the HD2 Android developments and particulars, so a simple flash is best. Is there a simple CWM flashable version for TMOUS that doesn't need to manually mess with partition prep, etc.?
Stability is more important than bleeding edge in this case, so any 2.3.x build is fine.
Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

If you're looking for a sense rom, I'd suggest going with one of the dhd roms (You'll have to use usb flasher to get the partition on), otherwise the simplest would be either:
This -> NexusHD2
This -> Typhoon CM7
or This -> HyperDroid CM7
These three roms need less system space than sense roms, so if you don't mind having a lot of empty space in your system partition, all you need to do is flash the zip using cwr.
My personal recommendation is the Typhoon Rom (2nd rom), it's very stable and up to date. Also, you can use either Titanium Backup/MyBackup apps to backup the phone's current apps.
I would recommend HyperDroidCM7v3.1. It's android 2.3.5 for both cwm and magldr. When I found it I stopped searching, and I am never gonna try anything else! (well, maybe. But you know what I mean hehe )

Guys,
Due to the fact that I can't find the right way how to apply this I'm opening this thread. Personally I don't like to open threads but I think this could be usefull for other users.
So actually I'm facing the following problem.
I'm a big fan of this rom LeoRCMix S v.1.9
But there are still some things wich don't work properly like wifi/data switch and the glitches. A new kernel should fix this...
I don't know which kernel I will find out but.....
For example a kernel like this... TYTUNG_R14
I have to change the ... initrd.gz... how does this works and what are the actual steps to make? I flashed a lot of roms... but this is abracadabra for me
Is here someone who can help me out?

Unzip the ROM you have then go to the boot folder. There will be a file called Initrd.gz. Copy it over and replace the initrd.gz of the Kernel you are trying to flash. By the way, I think that Tytung r14 is for CM7 and MIUI isn't it? Why not just use Marc1706's kernel for GB/Sense ROMs (stickied)?
Thans for your reply! This makes everything a more clear! I just suggested a kernel. Maybe the v6 kernel of sbryan could be a good one ;-)
