[Q] Phiremod 7.1 first boot... - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First boot after wiping cache then flashing Phiremod 7.1 and gappps-gb-20110828.zip. I got the screen of "Welcome to NookColor, touch the android to begin." with an Android logo in the middle of the screen. There is no response when I touch it.
What have I done wrong?

You flashed the wrong gapps. Go here https://sites.google.com/site/phiremod/nook-color-roms
And scroll down until you see the link for pherimods gapps.
(I did the same thing when I first flashed this rom.)
There is also a thread in the NC android development section for this rom. Post questions there for more support.

Thanks. Have not gotten enough posts apparently to be allowed to post at dev forums.

link dead?

Yes, the link is dead now. Phiremod apparently left the development world and took his files with him. Too bad. He had some great roms.

[Q] Help

I am a noob at all of this, I have a nook color and I was hoping someone could help me root it and put honeycomb on it. I don't know where to begin. I have read about cyanogen mod and deeper blue but I don't know where to download them or which one I should use?
If you want CM7 on the nook (not the SD card) I would suggest reading thru my post asking the same thing, helped me a lot and you can see the end result.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1442509
1. go thru the directions that CobyHoff posted on the first page to just get rooted
2. after that use my wiki link that I posted on the last page to get CM7 installed
Hope that helps
Long story short, you don't want Honeycomb. Install the mirage-kang CM7.2.

[Q] Couple of Revolution HD questions.

I recently picked up a used, rooted TF101 and I am loving it. The rom on it was a fairly unstable release of ICS and I quickly changed it to Rev.HD and it works great.
But, the previous rom had the ability to add a couple of programs to the unlock circle as well as the ability to hold the power button and reboot, reboot into recovery and power down the unit. These functions are not built into Rev. HD unless I am missing something, and that is possible. The other odd thing happens in Google Play, I do not see the whats new section for any of the apps that want to update. I could be missing something, have been using, rooting and roming my Motorola Droids for years, but ICS is a little different.
Thanks Matt
Well I can awnser your first question and indeed there is no advance power menu.
and second, I don't understand your question.
and 3, this topic is totaly wrong.
3a. if you post questions do that in the question forum
3b. this could be posted in the ARHD topic.
Please follow up these comments...

I am new to this site, the banner for the general section was subtitled with "Q&A". If there is a section that is for ARHD and not for development I would be happy to post there, but I have not been here long enough to hit 10 posts so I could not post in the development section.
I will try to explain my last question better... On my phones, in GPlay, when I choose one of my installed apps to update I get several panes. One of the is titled "What's New" and it lists changes in the current version. I do not ever see this pane in ICS GPlay and I really like to review this info. On the tablet when I choose an app to upgrade it goes straight to the "accept and download" pane.
Am I doing something wrong?
You were probably on a cm9 based rom which would explain the power menu with reboot to recovery and such. Megatron is probably closer to what you are looking for.
TF101 Megatron 1.0.4 Guevor test 19.2
The first ROM you had was probably a custom ROM also.
There's two ROM i know that you can customized the lock ring to add apps. AOKP and Team EOS and both those had Power button menu.
The Play Store work a little different on tablet vs phone.
When you see an app with update avaiable, you'll see a panel with teh usual "Open, Update or Uninstall" option.
Click on the app's icon, it will take you to a page with "What's New" ect.
First of all thanks to mike1986 for his work on this ROM.
I bought the Transformer rooted and with REVOLUTION HD ROM installed (don't remember the version 2.... ). After this i updated to 3.2.1 ROM and ALL was perfect. No errors, no random reboots no incompatibility with any app that i needed.
Since I was so confident with this ROM and the quality, I decided to upgrade to the last version (3.4.2) last night. All went ok, booted to lock menu and started to continously reboot. After litle observing I disabled the Wi-Fi and no more reboots. So i started to uninstall all apps related to wi-fi that I had installed in previous ROM (Wi-Fi manager, widget, Auto airplane mode). Than again I enabled the Wi-Fi via setings menu and the reboots returned.
Now i have the transformer with ROM 3.4.2 but no Wi-Fi!!! since it is not a 3G model, this puts me in a very frustrating situation .
Does anybody know how can i solve this matter or please post a link to REVOLUTION HD ROM version 3.2.1!
Many thanks to all and I hope someone can help me with this.
Solved my wi-fi problem
What can I say.... some digging in this forum and one solution was found . Even if the original post say you should not wipe if you are coming from dev's own ROM, actualy you should wipe. I just did that and installed again ROM 3.4.2.
Now all is working as it should!
Thanks again for this to all involved
Other tips. Look for an app here at XDA although I'm not sure if it was a transformer subforum or not called Reboot to Recovery. A shortcut to it on your home screen will give you the ability to reboot to recovery of the ROM you're using didn't offer that.

Thank you for this info. i'm stable and happy with ROM 3.4.2. for my next update i'll keep this in mind.
When I first started playing with custom roms, ARHD 3.4.2 was definitely my favorite. It has a very stock feel to it with many optimizations.
But when when I developed a better understanding of recovery and flashing roms, I switched to AOKP and its derivatives. They offer you a lot more customization options. I'm currently running Steel Droid v2 with the Harmony rev3 kernel.
Make sure to make a nandroid backup and use an app like titanium backup to keep everything safe and then experiment and find what's best for you.
ARHD is great, but I like Steel Droid sooooo much more!

[Q] Calculator App Broken in CM 10.1 12/19+ Nightly

Still new here, but I've been following a lot of threads since I bought the N4. Anyway, I don't have enough posts to post in the Dev section yet or else I would post this in the CM 10.1 thread, but I've noticed since flashing 12/19 nightly that the Calculator app just shows "Error" when trying to do any crunching. I installed 12/20 and the same issue is there. Tried with and without Franco's R15 Kernel. I don't believe this is a gapps issue because the Calc app comes standard with the ROM. Anyone else having this issue? Any thoughts? If I remember right, I had no issues on 12/18 nightly. How can I get this question moved to the Dev section to be considered a "bug" if it truly is one since I don't have enough posts? ...Maybe I should go on a posting spree...
Any info or insight would be great! Thanks.
Resolved. Cleared app cache and it fixed it. Not sure what happened with the app.

[Q] EOS 4 Build 174 screen

Could someone please tell me if I'm doing something wrong here. I've installed the 174 build and now my screen is black. I've tried numerous flashes, but no luck.
I'm posting my question here, as I can not in the actual forum.
Thanks!
Install the latest nightly. It was a bug.
MyXoom runs perfectly. The latest at the time of this post is EOS-wingray-20130306-180.zip. I use recovery TWRPv2.4.1.0.zip. When you flash your ROM make sure you flash the EOS-wingray-####-###.zip along with gapps-jb-20130105-EOS-XOOM-ONLY.zip at the same session. If your coming from another ROM or EOS 3 (build 155 or earlier) you should install after a factory reset. I had problems when I went to EOS 4 because I didn't do the factory reset or flash the ROM and gapps at the same time. Make sure to flash the gapps file "gapps-jb-20130105-EOS-XOOM-ONLY.zip" as this is the one built especially for EOS 4.
I also can't post in the Devs forums because of not enough posts. I have to find more to post so I can go in and thank the devs for the great work they are doing for us. BRD and runandhide05 thanks for the great work keeping my Xoom alive and kicking.

Boot loops at nook color dev screen

Hi I'm hoping someone here can help me with this issue. I've looked around and haven't really found a solution. I'm new to rooting. I have a nook color on 1.4.3 that I decided to root. I read up and followed this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494901
But each time I get a looping nook color devs animation that will just repeat and repeat. I have restored multiple times and tried again but haven't been successful. I haven't had any access to root features. I flashed with manualnooter-5.08.20.apps2sd.block_updates.zip and Dalingrin OC kernel.

I would but it won't let me because I'm a new member with fewer than 10 posts. So I made a topic.
