Hi,
I want to buy a tablet, a ACER ICONIA TAB A500 or ASUS EEEPAD TRANSFORMER, but i want to know your return about the battery life of A500 ?
The fix for phone deamon resolve the problem ?
How many time do you have with your A500 ?
thank you and sorry for my english
I don't know what's considered "good" battery life for the A500 but for me it seems pretty good... I get ~5% drain per 8 hours idle, I can get about 2 days with moderate-heavy use going from 100% to less than 5% which is just fine for me

Hi I use a501 and battery life is quite good. When I'm not using 3G I just put it in plane mode. It can hold up to 6h then with medium usage
im getting about 3 days on full charge with moderate usage. Or about 9 hours of constant usage.
Thank you for your answers, another can say to me your battery life ?
Do you know where is the best price for give it ? it's a godd time for give a tablet with the tegra 3 announced fot soon ?
thank's
Mine stayed 10 mins on 1% with WiFi and GPS on before turning off.

Hi All,
I have been waiting for the asus transformer but i am now rapidly loosing patience with having to wait for it with no confirmation as to when i will receive it so i am thinking about going down the acer iconia path. i just have a few questions for the owners of the iconia, how is the battery life, ie with heavy use and when on standby? the majority of the time the tablet will be on standby with wifi off does this still drain the battery greatly? as in how many % does the battery use when on standby?
also anyone that has used the transformer how does the iconia compare?
thanks for you help
I think the battery is great. It's not as long lasting as the Transformer, but hey.. who is gonna use this tablet for 10 hours+ straight on? I know I don't.
Some people are having issues with the battery draining quite fast while on standby. I dont. My Iconia drains around 10% overnight. Wich is acceptable. Tho most of the time it's getting juice overnight.
In my opinion the battery is fine. Engadget tested it with a 720p video (correct me if wrong) and the battery lasted 6 hours and 30 minutes ±. So for browsing, this tab will last atleast 8 hours. Wich is plenty for me.
Only have the tablet one day, but so far it seems great. Disabled all connections before going to sleep and put it in standby, only lost 5% battery for me while I was sleeping for 7 hours.
Was browsing in the train for 30 minutes (wifi tethered to HTC Desire) and used it to take some notes and show of to some co workers, only lost 10% since this morning.
So very happy with it so far!

i get 9-10h of browsing
I unplug mine at 8am and I use it light/moderately throughout the day and it usually is about out of juice when I get home around 6pm.
I do everything watching movies (streaming) music (streaming) messing around with apps and settings. getting at least 6 to 8 hours of continuous use.
Yesterday I unplugged it at 6:30 am browsed some sites. Went to work put it to sleep from 7:3am until 7pm. Battery was at 78% played with it all night. Battery was at 45%. Didn't charge at night. This morning 38%. Sleep at 38% and will check when I get home.
Set wifi to turn off when screen is off and it will last a long time on standby. Mine hardly drains at all if any. I didn't even lose 1% overnight.
hi all
I'll buy Iconia A500
But I heard that the battery life 4-5 hr only
is it really ?
Also learned that it can run USB 3G Modem by patch.. Search for a video on YouTube about this but did not found.. is there video ?? and how much battery life when using 3G Modem..
mmmmmmmmmm
if battery bad
can i change batter?? any tablet battery can be used??
I apologize for the many qestions and my bad language
I don't know about the rest, but my battery lasts about 9 hours of reading e-books and comics, some games (a lot of gaming = about 6 hours). I don't do much video watching, but someone who does can answer that for you..
To answer the obvious, battery life depends on the kind of use you put it to.
Reading eBooks, playing games can be quite draining on the battery. Maybe up to about 7-9 hours. If you light browsing, wifi always on to get mail and do light reading, you could potentially get up to about 50 hours or more of battery life.
Cheers!
thanks for answer
what about USB 3G Modem ??
Best I can tell you need either one of the custom ROMs or a custom kernel file for the 3g USB modems; see the A500 Developer forum for more details. Battery life shouldn't be horribly affected while using an external modem, although you will lose some battery life.
My Iconia tends to last the entire day on a single charge; I leave the WiFi on full time for the most part, and get a couple of hours of off-and-on web, email and e-Reading during the day with a good solid 3-5 hours use at night. I do suggest charging once a day just to keep from running out unexpectedly, but I have had it last two days of light use before when I missed the charger being unplugged...
i cant confirm battery life with a 3g modem attached but without one my tablet usually last about 2 days, thats with wifi always on but with airplane mode on(helps with the cell standby bug for me), 5 hours of display time mostly web browsing, downloading and email usage.

OC to 1.4Ghz,
Full charge before sleep
Wake up at 96% (drop very slow during idle)
Travel 30 mins to office with light web browsing (90%)
Leave office at 85%
Play dungeon defender (3D game) during 30 mins travel back home (7X%)
[web browsing + dungeon defender] (total 3 hrs), the battery still get around 50%
So, now, the battery has been off charger for 20 hrs, and the battery is around 50%.
I say 'great' for the battery life.
woooow
good battery
i'll open New Topic about 3g modem and battery life on Iconia A500 General Forum
but what's meaning s-off, airplane mode and (cell standby bug )

I believe s-off has something to do with the 'radio' in the tablet, which sends and receives signals. The cell standby bug is that when Acer made the software for the tablet, they never disabled the 3g module that continuously looks for a 3g signal. This is a big battery drain and can be disabled by using an app that will do it for you, if your device is rooted.
I have a question: I have been thinking about getting the a100 which is supposed to come out 'early august.' It looks like the only differences will be the screen size, half the RAM, and maybe the size of the battery(s) they put in the tablet.
Can anyone give me information on how their battery life is while listening to music? Is it a massive drain, or is it nice on the system and not cause much issue?
Thanks for the information!

Hi,
may I know you are using original ROM or which custom ROM?
I am currently using "Prime 9-3" with OC1.4Ghz.
But I can't really get the battery status you share.
So hope to know what ROM you currently using.

I do wish people wouldn't keep repeating this blatant misinformation.
How can there be a battery drain when the cell hardware doesn't even exist? Sure, the app is polling, but there's no hardware there so the ONLY battery drain is the minor amount caused by the app running. What you're seeing in the battery status is merely a erroneous data caused by the app failing to connect to the non-existent cell hardware.
If the battery usage it indicates were true, your battery would be flat in about 6-8 hours. Mine is now on its 3rd day without charging and is STILL above 40%

You can't really depend on having battery life like that if your using it. He's got 20 hours off the charger but it was idle mist of those 20 hours. Me with heavy usage internet, quick games, YouTube I get about 9-10 hours

Hi Guys,
How is your battery performance going? We have three 64GB 3G Lenovo tablets in our office and we are struggling to get two hours usage out of any tablet. Even just leaving them in standby mode will drain them fast (less than a day). I have the acer iconia A500 and can leave that around for days and still have some juice when I pick it up again. Any idea why battery life is terrible on the Lenovo? We are all running different apps. Mine is pretty much just running stock with a few ebook reader apps.
Cheers,
SB
Something is wrong with them if the battery life is that poor. Presumably with the hardware if you're running things mostly stock. Strange, though, that it'd be all of them and not just one. Mine gets 8 solid hours of medium to heavy use, no sweat, and other people have indicated theirs get about the same. You might want to contact Lenovo's tech support (though just a word of warning, they have kinda lame tech support nowadays...).
I've got a 32GB no 3G tablet that continues to surprise me with it's battery life. I'd read plenty about folks with crappy recharge and usage times.
Mine will still have the same charge the next day if I don't put it in the dock and I generally get 7-8 hours out of a full charge, even over the period of a few days.
The old 'cell-standby' battery drain disappeared a while back. Don't know why. Don't miss it at all.
Under normal use for me (sketchbook pro, browsing, and an occasional game) I get about 8-12 hours of use (basing that on the screen on %), with 3-4 days between charges. Something is certainly up with yours, what is listed under settings>about tablet>Battery Use?
Info
Tablet 1:
Battery 69%, 7 hours on battery, maybe 20 minutes use. (Mobile broadband turned off)
Screen 39% (on auto brightness)
WiFi 26%
tablet Idle: 23%
Cell Standby 7%
Android OS 7%
The other two are not available, but as a colleague ran out the door, he mentioned that his cell standby was 33% despite mobile broadband being turned off.
Thanks for your feedback so far.
Mine (16GB version) lasts for 4 hours when it's REALLY busy, that means when I stream videos over wireless.
Otherwise...after a full day of normal usage I'm back from 100% to 40%.
Anything else I think is not acceptable..I suggest you guys have your tablets replaced.
Wait, I just had a thought. Are you guys using the keyboard folio with the tablets? If so, there's something you should know. After putting the tablet to sleep, you can't close the folio for another 10-20 seconds afterwards. Otherwise, the optical trackpoint ends up detecting motion from the tablet being on top of it and it wakes the tablet up repeatedly while the thing is sitting closed. So you have to put the tablet in sleep with the folio still open, let it sit until it goes into deep sleep, wave your finger over the trackpoint to make sure it has (after 10-20 seconds), THEN close it up.
my battery is good on standby (with wifi sleep).
Your battery drain is because of cell network. use airplane mode !
I RMA's 2 of them with the same symptoms, took all day to charge, discharged way to fast they ended up having both bad motherboards and bad batteries. I called up lenovo sent them in and had to wait about 3 weeks for the parts to come in, but they have been working incredibly well now.

That sounds very similar to the three we have. 6-8 hours to charge. Less than an hour of use to discharge. Less than 10 hours on standby to discharge. Lenovo suggested a factory reset (ha ha) to fix the problem. I'll humour them for the weekend.
Thought it would be a good idea for people to share their average battery life on whatever rom/kernel you are running. And also what you use your TF for.
my average running EeBomb with rom stock kernel was about 18 hours I play a lot of games, music player running about all day and a lot of XDA. Just switched back to Revolver Blades 1.2 OCkernel so far very unimpressed with the battery life you lose by overclocking by.2ghz not really worth the little bit of speed you gain for significant battery drain. I flashed yesterday fully charged need a few days to see the average not looking good though
It really does depend with Blades/Krakd if i use stock clock and mild use probably 20hrs if i o/c to 1.59ghz and rape it for a day gamming through hdmi using a ps3 controller through bluetooth 8hrs tops
If i barely used it at all stock freqs or even under clocked u/v then probably 36hrs
Its a bad question and you will get different answers 7 days a week although i have found krakd/blades to be fair on my battery no matter what i do

I would say it sucks at best, at least mine anyway. My transformer was fully charged yesterday & I didn't use it at all. So after 16 hours with the screen off the battery is at 74% with zero use. Battery info tell me that 72% of battery use was while idle. I doesn't seem to make a big difference if I turn on flight mode. I have tried Auto Airplane Mode app too with the same result. It might be time to wipe my Transformer & start over.
Well
im not really testing my battery
but in friday it was disconneted since 8AM
until 7PM
from 14:30 in really heavy use with 80% dock battery as start
i downloaded 2 torrents
browsed the internet all the time
and sometimes a little bit of youtube
brightness around 20
ended with 10%
70% battery lost in around 5 hours
in really heavy use
krakd rom 1.5.2
OC to 1.2 GHZ
i think its pretty impressive
considering i still have a full tablet battery life and dock lost only 70%
which not a lot for this use
There is already a ton of threads on this and one that was organised to collect it, which includes a POLL for a much better overview. Use search if you please....

Hello I got this nexus 4 days ago and read it battery life suppose to be around 10 hour but I know it will be less. I'm getting about five. Curious what's everyone else is getting. Please post your battery life here.

I am described as a power user. I could engage in some heavy browsing and gaming and having the screen on all day and then let the tablet sit overnight off the charger, but I'd have to charge it late noon the next day. I usually land in the 1 day 2-8 hours range according to system battery stats. If you believe your battery sucks, roll back to 4.1.2 and your life will be phenomenal!
I'm not sure what tricks those users with 10hrs SOT have done, but I never managed to get more than about 6-7 hrs SOT. I thinks those highest results have been done with wifi off, brightness at lowest level and sounds off etc...
