This thing is a beast. I have 30% battery left and I have been using it for 41 hours without charging it. And I use it pretty heavy on sundays and on 3g all day saturday. I think it's got the best battery life of any device i've ever used. How are other peoples battery life?
Can you post your battery usage please? Just interested what you've been using in those 41 hours. Seems incredible!

no prob....does drocap2 work?
I get similar battery life.

I can't find a screenshot app that works and yes it's rooted.
From what I read you need the SDK to take screen shots.

This is about the exact same results I get. I had about 30% left yesterday after two days and 4-5 hrs of usage.
I pushed about 36 hours before the device shut itself off. Medium to Heavy use (lots of browsing, some games, all around tinkering and playing in numerous apps), and a decent amount of that was standby.
Over-all, I'm very impressed with it and it has completely replaced my laptop (sold it before I got the Xoom, actually). I was actually having a hardtime leaving it off the charger because of how used to I am having to plug my devices in after a few hours of heavy use.
I did a real world test for my xoom this weekend. I used it as i "normally" would. when I wanted to do things, I just did - browse, played games, etc. I used it saturday night to show pictures of a new house to lots of people. Basically, how I would use it if I wasn't specifically testing battery life. Long story short, i went all weekend without charging. Charged fully at 4pm Friday. plugged in Sunday at 11pm with 20% or so still left.
with all due respect that's not accurate. A more accurate usage of batt life is 'display usage'
I get about 7 hours batt life. I was at least expecting 9 hours

9 is a little too much i'd say. It really depends on what app you use and how much power the cpu takes out of the battery. For example, simple web browsing and apps aint gonna run on 2 cores. Gaming on the other will though. And real life usage is really what matters.

35% left with wifi and 3g on all the time and 38 hours unplugged/turned on.

That's about what mine lasts for, and I love it!! Its a nice break after my incredible only lasts for like 20 hours MAX with setcpu. XOOM for the win.

I try to keep it off the charger as much as possible....i let it run down to about 30-25% give or take before I charge it. I want to keep this battery in as good a shape as I can.

My Xoom has awesome battery life... I am satisfied completely.
I think I've finally gotten a good grip on this Nook stuff, a million thanks to everyone here.
My Nook is where I want it to be currently with the latest CM7 stable.
It seems like everyone is overclocking and now I'm curious.
Do you guys keep the overclock on the entire time you're using the nook? Or do you turn it on when you need the extra performance?
Does it shorten the battery life by much?
Is it harmful at all to the hardware?

Good questions. Overclocking is, on the surpface, something one would imagine harms our toys. Actually, most can handle well. It's all about the voltage and not so much anything else. Dal and others have worked out the tough stuff and provided us with some extremely useful kernals that noticably increase speeds (demonstrable with apps like Quadrant Standard or Smartbench) Apps run quicker and the overall experience is sweeter. Ondemand is the usual govenor I employ set on boot. (Running CM7.0.2 1.1 OC) Still getting a full day of use before recharging.
Usually it only kicks up to overclocked speeds when it needs it, cm7 can regulate it's clock speed pretty well depending on what setting you use.
technically overclocking will slightly shorten the life of the processor (uses more power, produces more heat). It doesn't really matter though as my battery will give out long before my processor, regardless of whether i overclock or not.
By that time i'll probably be thinking about buying the sweet new nook color 4 anyhow.
I have one of the handfull of Nook's that can run at 1.3 GHz, although I have it set to boot at 1.2 GHz to eliminate the occasional bootloop from trying to load up at max speed. Once booted I kick it back up to 1.3 GHz and leave it. My battery generally lasts 48 hours of light / moderate use with the display being the single biggest power hog.
48 hours of using seems impossible to me when I use my NOOK at work for FB and some little gaming (not 3D) and after 8 hours is at 50% of battery.
I use daily 300/1300 at On Demand and never had any problems with device.
Extra heat is harmful. So if the device isnt get so hot, then things are ok.

You're right 48 hours of use is impossible. To clarify.... I'm usually off the charger for about 48 hours... not 48 hours of use. I'm 20 hours off charger now, wifi running about 10 hours, screen on for 2 hours 24 minutes and battery at 53%.

When does the battery meter reset? Is it when you charge the battery back up to 100%?
I just got CM7 working and haven't had a chance to go through the entire battery yet but based on what I've seen so far I can maybe squeeze out 5-6 continuous hours of usage, does that sound reasonable?
Based on what I see it's significantly hungrier than the stock.

Depending always on what U do during usage (different to play games or just browsing the internet), U should really have the hours U propose.
Soon the problem with the sleep will be solved and the autonomy will be back to normal.
I wanted to start a new thread comparing which GB roms have the best battery life....
I'm running CM7 and battery life isn't that great.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
^THANKS^^ battery life on Simply honey 3.8 was pretty good....
This thread is a great idea, but let's put some numbers down rather then, "I get really good battery life!"
CM7: I get about 13 - 15 hours with minimal use on edge network.
Minimal use for me is about 2 or 3 phone calls about 30 seconds to a minute each. Less then ten text messages, very little to no web surfing. Check weather, look at news headlines.
Well, i have only tried CM7 and MIUI, wich is CM7 based, and to be honest, battery life is the reason that i came back to Froyo...just terrible batery life...i can't be charging my phone every 5-6 hours. On Froyo im using Super DragonModz on Project V, and i havent charged my phone in two days, and still its @ 25%...average/min use. Until GB gets good battery life, i might not be using another GB rom as a daily driver...
My battery just went down 2% on a 40 second phone call with my lady. Simply honey. It drains bad. This is my 4th cycle.

thats odd...have you tried doing a battery calibration....
anyways i get 10 hours on Revolution rom 2.0 with moderate use
moderate use -check xda couple times ,on h network always with background data ,some texting,3-4 30 second calls and ocing to 1.2ghz
Yea. I calibrated. I thought it was just a bad flash but after multiple flashes I had the same result.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Blitzkrieg 18 to 20hrs moderate use 3-4 hrs screen time one.
Pretty good if u ask me.
Screenie attached 30% batt left. Calibrated two days ago.
With every type of battery caliberation it takes a few cycles of charges for it to actually work. I use sgs tools and apply script and that deletes battery bin files. But doing that is not gonna take effect right away i hope u guys know that.
Im on cm7 and my battery usage is better then i expected. With me using either google music or Audio galaxy streaming for a 8 hour workshift and texting and websurfing during a lunchbreak and when that shift is done i still have about 20-to 30 % left sometimes as high as 40% But if im not streaming music and just doing normal things like playing cut the rope and web surfing and emailing, texing etc i can go on all day with out a charge. So maybe u guys have a bad battery???
Simply honey 3.8 was eating up 3-4% per hour just idling and much more when actually bring used. Back to Trigger.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
simply honey 3.8 has really good battery life i get 19 hours moderate use with kb5 modem and OC'ed to 1.2 ghz
On Revolution Rom, I can get 16-17 hours of heavy use, which is flashing a new build almost every hour, going crazy on the battery life testing. But people have reported about 24 hours of battery with moderate use.
Asgard 3.0 and 3.1 Both are giving me 13-15 hours with moderate use gaming (my kid 45min-1 hour) internet use, tweeting, email and moderate to heavy phone use (20-40 calls per day) and 1 hour of tunein radio.
I got an average of 15 hours on Blitzkreig with 15-20 short (under 3 minute ) calls, 35-40 texts and an hour or so surfing.... plus a little gaming. I am at 5 hours on Asgard 3.1 and 78% battery.

I am running the Revolution Rom RC1 also and I'm getting about the same battery life. It's about the best that I have gotten on my phone, Bionix Final 2.1 aside. Great job, keep up the good work Ali.
Revolution ROM's battery life is pretty good.
Can't compare with others since I've just started flashing GB roms now (I had tried MIUI before but back then the battery sucked so much it doesnt even count)
thanks for starting this thread, it was just what i was looking for.
i used CM7 awhile ago and the battery life was pretty terrible so i switched back to froyo. so now i was looking around again for reports of battery life now after a couple months of waiting, and looks like its still pretty bad. i guess im still sticking with froyo.
but hey i still appreciate all the work the devs do to bring GB to the vibrant
with all the MINIMUM use or HEAVY use
can you guys post the screen on time with it to shows how heavy/ minimum you use....
I've been using Blitzkrieg for a week or so and at first it seemed really good but the last few days it has been draining fast for some reason. I also have had it reboot a couple of times while on the phone the last 2 days. I'm not sure if it's related....
hi all
I'll buy Iconia A500
But I heard that the battery life 4-5 hr only
is it really ?
Also learned that it can run USB 3G Modem by patch.. Search for a video on YouTube about this but did not found.. is there video ?? and how much battery life when using 3G Modem..
mmmmmmmmmm
if battery bad
can i change batter?? any tablet battery can be used??
I apologize for the many qestions and my bad language
I don't know about the rest, but my battery lasts about 9 hours of reading e-books and comics, some games (a lot of gaming = about 6 hours). I don't do much video watching, but someone who does can answer that for you..
To answer the obvious, battery life depends on the kind of use you put it to.
Reading eBooks, playing games can be quite draining on the battery. Maybe up to about 7-9 hours. If you light browsing, wifi always on to get mail and do light reading, you could potentially get up to about 50 hours or more of battery life.
Cheers!
thanks for answer
what about USB 3G Modem ??
Best I can tell you need either one of the custom ROMs or a custom kernel file for the 3g USB modems; see the A500 Developer forum for more details. Battery life shouldn't be horribly affected while using an external modem, although you will lose some battery life.
My Iconia tends to last the entire day on a single charge; I leave the WiFi on full time for the most part, and get a couple of hours of off-and-on web, email and e-Reading during the day with a good solid 3-5 hours use at night. I do suggest charging once a day just to keep from running out unexpectedly, but I have had it last two days of light use before when I missed the charger being unplugged...
i cant confirm battery life with a 3g modem attached but without one my tablet usually last about 2 days, thats with wifi always on but with airplane mode on(helps with the cell standby bug for me), 5 hours of display time mostly web browsing, downloading and email usage.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA Premium App
OC to 1.4Ghz,
Full charge before sleep
Wake up at 96% (drop very slow during idle)
Travel 30 mins to office with light web browsing (90%)
Leave office at 85%
Play dungeon defender (3D game) during 30 mins travel back home (7X%)
[web browsing + dungeon defender] (total 3 hrs), the battery still get around 50%
So, now, the battery has been off charger for 20 hrs, and the battery is around 50%.
I say 'great' for the battery life.

I believe s-off has something to do with the 'radio' in the tablet, which sends and receives signals. The cell standby bug is that when Acer made the software for the tablet, they never disabled the 3g module that continuously looks for a 3g signal. This is a big battery drain and can be disabled by using an app that will do it for you, if your device is rooted.
I have a question: I have been thinking about getting the a100 which is supposed to come out 'early august.' It looks like the only differences will be the screen size, half the RAM, and maybe the size of the battery(s) they put in the tablet.
Can anyone give me information on how their battery life is while listening to music? Is it a massive drain, or is it nice on the system and not cause much issue?
Thanks for the information!

I do wish people wouldn't keep repeating this blatant misinformation.
How can there be a battery drain when the cell hardware doesn't even exist? Sure, the app is polling, but there's no hardware there so the ONLY battery drain is the minor amount caused by the app running. What you're seeing in the battery status is merely a erroneous data caused by the app failing to connect to the non-existent cell hardware.
If the battery usage it indicates were true, your battery would be flat in about 6-8 hours. Mine is now on its 3rd day without charging and is STILL above 40%

You can't really depend on having battery life like that if your using it. He's got 20 hours off the charger but it was idle mist of those 20 hours. Me with heavy usage internet, quick games, YouTube I get about 9-10 hours

Could you guys tell me if various ROMs have different battery life? Just to know if it's worth trying other ROMs or whether it would be a waste of time. (I already use a good kernel for battery life, i.e. M-Kernel.)

I have never had better battery life than I do now on stock rooted 4.2.2
I'm at 41 hours now with 2 1/4 hours screen time and battery is at 66 percent.
I know that's not a lot of screen time so far....but excellent sleeping! Very happy with stock!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I'm currently using PA 3.1 and M-kernel a-37. I usually get between 35-40 hours (3-4 hours on screen time) with moderate usage (browsing, light gaming, occasional YouTube viewing) before needing to charge.
Currently as I'm typing this, my N7 is on 15%, been unplugged for 40 hours with on screen time of 3h12m.
I've managed to squeeze a week out of Paranoid Android 3.0 running Faux Kernel under clocked to around 800Ghz.
Just experiment like the rest of us.
Probably very little battery savings are attributable to the ROM, unless they've got apps pre-installed that hold lots of wakelock time and prevent the device from sleeping.
I throw mine on the charger as soon as I stop using it, so I don't really care what the battery life is. If I've used up 6 hours of screen time per day, that indicates a problem with the operator, not the device
Folks that have tilapia (3G/4G) N7s or live in a WiFi-everywhere (campus?) environment are probably more mobile with their devices than I, so no doubt their use-case scenario - and thus battery use concerns - are different. But I'm skeptical that ROM choice (independent of kernel choice) has much to do with it, unless a pre-installed app is pathological.
I agree with the above mostly, although underclocking does help a bit. I have 5hours of screen on time and 15 of sleep on 16% battery right now.
