Ezekeel's Notebook - Nexus S General

Since I needed some space to put some notes I can link in my signature and could not find a better place to put them, I started this thread.
No need to post anything in here since I most likely will not read it.

Update
I do not accept donations any longer. I big big big thank you to all supporters that have made a donation in the past.
I have started accepting donations to collect funds for new Android devices to extend my development work.
In the meantime RootzWiki has generously supplied me with a Galaxy Nexus. Also I recently put my own app GLaDOS Control on the Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=aperture.ezekeel.gladoscontrol) and Android Pit (http://www.androidpit.com/en/android/market/apps/app/aperture.ezekeel.gladoscontrol/GLaDOS-Control) which is doing great and the revenues are enough to make me feel confident that from now on I can fund my development work only through this.
Developer fund log
Since I do believe in transparency when it comes to donations, I have decided to keep this log to keep track of the donations I have received (without disclosing the names of the donors of course) and to let my donors know for what I did use these collected funds.
A big thank you to all those that have made a donation!

Harrison Ford was the perfect cast for Commander Adama in that movie!

Kernel Thanks
Posting here as i have less than 10 and am not able to post in developers.
Using GLaDOS 1.10 on an i9023, CM 7.1.0.1.
Was having problems with it dying sometimes while screen was off on the franco and GLaDOS 1.9.
No probs at all on 1.10. Have undervolted all Arm voltage -25mV, left Int voltage alone, live OC 110%, max speed 880, and deep idle is on. Quadrant score on that setup is 2883 which while not spectacular (i think), phone is running well and everything i use is working well on this kernel. Good battery life, though not as good as some have reported on other threads.
Thanks!

Only 60€?, I'm very dissapointed. You deserve much more to help you in the development of your amazing mods.
I donated a few days ago and I will do it again after Christmas (hope to collect something from Santa's )

[HONEYCOMB][CROSS POLLINATION] Working Market! Progress today 12th May 2011

CREDITS: This is posted for informational purposes only, and originally comes from MrGuy on TabletRoms for the Notionink Adam. Additional device specific information comes from roebeet on SlateDroid for the Viewsonic G Tablet, newbe5 and corvus on Modaco for the Advent Vega. With contributions from DJ_Steve (StephenH official NI dev), josh4trunks (Contract NI dev), and Dauiton from Tabletroms. Hardware acceleration and sound enabled by HomerSp. Thanks go to red_herringx for providing the system dump as well.
*** UPDATE 11:00am EDT May 12th 2011 MrGuy has done it again, looks like the Market (gapps) issue has been resolved! MrGuy says " Borkata's link and HomerSp's test app helped a lot too"
May 5th 2011
Logged into IRC this morning and to my surprise there was some interesting chatter going on.
It seems that MrGuy has gotten as far as booting HoneyComb on the Adam. In the source post he has made his progress available for other devs to work on.
SOURCE: http://tabletroms.com/forums/showthread.php?356-Honeycomb-on-the-Adam
Although at this time, it seems to only work while holding your Adam upside down...
NOTE: In order to use this, you must make sure you use the utmost delicate hand gestures when touching your screen, as seen in the video.
***05/05/2011 11:24 [-04:00 GMT] PROGRESS: DJ_Steve aka StephenH in collaboration with MrGuy, has made progress in figuring out how to stop the Force Close. There seem to be some issues with the touch screen at this time..
14:03 -04:00 GMT ADD: roebeet's quick to get this on the GTAB http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/17755-hc-yes-hc/page__gopid__166566

DJ_Steve showsoff hardware acceleration implementation on Notioink Adam.
FRESH TODAY 9th May 2011 11:30AM EDT
Cross collaboration between devs of sister tablets in the ##adamroot freenode IRC channel this morning!
Devs: HomerSp got hardware acceleration working, newbe5/corvus got it working on the Advent Vega (video demo below) and DJ_Steve applied them to the Adam HC rom and confirmed to now be working smoothly!
This is great news and I cannot wait for progress!!
p.s : whatever happened to all that money that was being saved for someone to get a working copy?
It's already improved and we're all on ##adamroot chatting about it.
I also ported it over to the GTAB already, but with the same initial issues of course:

slllllllooooowwwwww. Will probably take some time to improve. But this is a BIG obstacle overcome.
Yep...I donated to this great star...I'm hoping in a week or 2 ill be able to flash....I know with the geniuses here this will start to look better...and better....
oh wow, i'm looking forward to honeycomb on my adam
I flashed it yesterday, its slow, and also the fact that I couldnt get wifi to work, and the first attempt at flashing it I had issues with f/c and currently if something force closes i couldnt touch close to get out of it so it is still in alpha stages for those wondering. The fact that it is booting is amazing and awesome.
I believe mr.guy has to get it out of beta stage, and once they'd done that send it over to notion Ink hacks for hiS/hers $$$$
Also where did they pull the source from?

I read somewhere it was an ASUS HC dump using which the ADAM port is being made.
I think in 2 weeks HC on ADAM as well as GTAB would be in beta testing with almost everything working.
Can't wait...

Hey,
I just want you guys to know coming from a nook color honeycomb your alpha release blew their beta release out of the water.

i tried to play with it

thanks DJ stive and MR GUY
This will probably work as-is for GTAB 1.2 dev branch users, FYI - we just found out that the kernels are compatible. Only known issues are the different camera and that the volume buttons are reversed (both fixable). 1.1 dev branch users would need to mod the kernel, however - different bootloader.
Hey, does anyone know if this Tom will be also or if honeycomb gapps will be included?
Sent from my Adam using Tapatalk
is honeycomb stable enough to use on a daily basis or is it better to wait longer?

[DONATION THREAD] Laptop dock for ATRIX dev team

** update 9/16 **
so it's pretty much confirmed that only one dev on the CM7 team has a laptop dock... the other devs would like one but it's not a priority. Let's get some donations to them so that they can get one! (or beer if they want that more haha.. it IS a donation)

Pretty much what the title says. Im very excited for cm7 beta ... but I can't lose webtop functionality! IMO it defeats the purpose of owning an ATRIX!
I want to get some docks in the hands of the devs on the cm7 ATRIX dev team that don't have them. Hopefully this will help spur development on this crucial function!
All your donations should be made directly to the ATRIX dev team here :
http://code.google.com/p/atrix-dev-team/
I personally will donate $50 to get this going. I hope those who have docks and need this functionality can donate too!

I've recently picked up a lapdock off kajiji (canadian ebay) for $190
Just save your money dude. :/
Nobody will donate a lapdock when you can simply use a webtop mod.

Think you'll fnd the vast majority want to see webtop and fingerprint scanner on CM7. Should have waited to see how much support your idea would get before dropping $50.
Lets not forget what he's done here - he's donated $50 to a team of hard working devs that deserve it! Lets not bicker about that

They deserve the donation. This is my 3rd donation this week (albeit my highest haha)
I got my dock refurb for 145 off the AT&T website with a 20& coupon or something like that
Sent from my alien
Hi guys,
We don't actually need any lapdocks for CM7.
SamCripp (@zombisam) is actually the developer who is trying to get WebTop booting on CM7, but he's recently moved house, so is still waiting to get internet connected before he can jump back into it. He has already had a lapdock donated to him.
If you would like to donate to the team, please use the paypal button in t0dbld's thread on XDA or on the https://code.google.com/p/atrix-dev-team/ page.
All the money is going to the developers to help pay for caffeine, alcohol and in some case nicotine to keep them burning the midnight oil while they work through the remaining bugs. With the donations the developers will also be able to put the money to other device development projects, but this is entirely an individual choice.
Remember what a donation is. It is money generously contributed to show an appreciation for work. It should not be given with an expectation of services rendered.
P.s. I am ibproud < don't know how to change my username without losing my stats.

Like all Motorola phones it is very heavy. It weighs about 180g whereas it's elder brother stands at 130g. And it is not a 64-bit device as rumored but can be called a good deal (given it is a NEXUS device) if it is kept under 40k price tag IMHO. Let's hope there is at least a new kernel like 3.14 for it.
if it is 64bit and above 40k i can think about it , if no then i will wait for snapdragon 810
Hell yeah
High end specs big battery
Big display (probably because they want to raise moto x sales) and memory 3 gb (more than enough for anything)
Lets hope it launch in india soon before
January at a decent price near 35 would be nice
https://www.google.com/nexus/6/
Too costly and too big...going to stick to 5 for time being
Have the Moto X (2014) But this device is very tempting, although the price is not.
Hope it's 35k so that i can buy one for my birthday.
Htc desire 820 or nexus 6??

I'll be happily surprised if that's the price tag. It costs $649 in US, that equals ~40k INR.
For perspective, price of Nexus 5 in the US is $349 (21.5k INR) while price in India is 29k (starting). Note 4 is $749 off contract in US while 58.3k in India. I'd expect something over 45k. I will grab it ASAP if it's 43k, even though I don't plan to (yet).
45k I bet on...?looks like a killer device. But design it's all moto that we have seen before. This time planning to wait for a while before I jump into this ship...

Does anyone mind sharing a few with their app usage? Can be light moderate or heavy. I'm interested in this model more than pro version because of the price and pro cost is too close to poco so I'd probably get either non pro or the poco. Also how come pro has a real life review section on xda but non pro doesn't? Ty!

Pre-ordered from Banggood on March 25. Shipped to rural eastern Canada April 1 using Air Parcel Registered. ETA April 27. I'd rather wait a month for the postal system than have to deal in any way with DHL though.
Back to the topic, there are plenty of youtube videos showing good screen on time. One person did a youtube streaming test for more than 12 hours. Others report around 9 hours screen on time with moderate usage. I'll see what I get when it gets here eventually. YMMV.

Wow the battery is so good! I still can't believe I had 15 hours of SOT on my old device (redmi 4 prime 4000mh snapdragon 625 5 inch). It was like a legend! After 2 years of usage it went down to 9 hours which is better than a lot of new devices!
My Note 7 arrived today to shop, but I am still thinking - buy it or cancel order. I am using HTC U Ultra now. Nice smartphone, but 3000mAh battery is a joke. I had Poco F1 in the past, so I guess that Note's SoT will be a bit weaker due to 14nm SoC.
I've seen some YouTube reviews and have an idea now. Looks to be similar to older models maybe slightly less but still good. Also I think most reviewers aren't flashing EU miui rom on it. I would asap right after receiving the phone for a better experience because I heard the rom shipped with almost any xiaomi phone can be buggy

I think this topic is buried here and should transfered into Real life Review, too little info for screen time for such an excellent device. Screen on time threads of RN4 and RN5 have many people discussing this matter. Here is dead.
After a day use, everything always on(data, gps), wifi on when needed, auto sync only wifi. Stock rom EU 10.3.4
