Need help after bad flash. - HD2 General

So basically i tried to flash android this was my first time doing any of this & it stuffed up badly now all my phone does is boot up into the white htc logo screen & won't get past there. It use to have 3 sets of numbers on the side but now it doesn't. I tried to go into the recovery boot loader screen. I use to be able to get into it but it never did any thing. I took it to a phone shop & they said i had water damage I never put the phone near water what so ever but they said it because my friend pressed the red button on the back which tells you have water damage. If anyone could help i would be so appreciative the phone i have now seems to be a pile of crap compared to the HTC!
Thanks in advance.

I dont know who told that bull**** but the red button on back is a reset switch, it has nothing to do with water damage.
To me it just sounds like you have task29 and not actually flashed magldr yet.
Hold down the volume down button while powering on phone, keep hold of volume down button until you boot into bootloader. Once in bootloader launch the HD2 Toolkit and flash magldr. Once you ahve installed magldr choose USB Flasher from magldr menu and then repartition using the toolkit.
Once you have partitioned to teh required size for you rom just flash teh zip file using CWM.
Since this is your first time flashing android on HD2 I would recomend looking at forum for a bit and reading guides because its obviosu you just jumped in and didnt read much.

[Q] Bricked phone after task29 and rom flashing

Hello. First I want to thank all of you who develop roms and the like. I have had such a blast over the past month and a half customizing my phone in ways I never thought possible. Last night I ran flashaholicruu.exe on my HTC HD2 Leo. The task29 seemed to work properly, however when I attempted to flash the rom I received errors. I tried Leo_Radio_2.11.50.26.sfx, which had previously worked on my phone. It stopped at 96%. I did the recovery, however the phone now will not even boot the splash screen. It simply vibrates non-stop when I turn it on until I remove the battery. Does anyone have ANY advice at all? Am I able to load a ROM onto the SD card and directly boot from it while my phone is in this state?
I have removed the battery and reinserted it. Did not work.
I have also tried pressing the volume buttons and the power on button to get the bootloader, but just vibrates in the same manner as when I press on button.
Please help!
Thank you

Ahh. I wish. T-Mobile is giving me a hard time about replacing it because I was not the original owner of the phone. The phone is only about 3-4 months old though.
I had this happen to me.
Try to load it directly into bootloader by holding vol-down when you press power button, then flash another radio (i recommend 2.12.5) then try another ROM thru RUU.
Also, make sure your battery is place in there securely and that all 3 pins from the phone are sticking out.
I had a situation where one of the pins was sticking vertically and the battery was only hitting 2 (from doing too many battery pulls) and it did this weird vibrate splash screen boot sequence.

You'll need contact details for the original owner, but by law they have to honor the agreement they put in place with them, regardless of whether you are that person or not.
Just get back onto T-Mobile and if they say no then speak to someone higher up. I know this to be the case after selling a palm pre to someone at the beginning of the year and it died on him shortly after.

Really? This is good to know. I contacted the original owner. I feel so bad and I hope he doesn't think I am trying to scam him. I just want a working phone and I think that T-Mobile should honor that.

I think the bootloader may be gone. Does the task29 remove this? I can't get even to the bootloader using the method above (I have tried many times).

Good to know, I will try this. I do have some bent pins.
No task 29 doesn't remove the bootloader, I always use it before flashing a new ROM...

he needs to rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh and pair it with the RUU that came
with that same stock ROM
but then again, if he cant get into bootloader, the phone is definitely bricked

What exactly did you do to try and enter bootloader mode? You said you pressed the volume 'buttons' and the power button but that combination would initiate a Hard Reset and not bootloader mode..
How to get into your Bootloader
1. Turn your phone off
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN then Press and hold the POWER button. After about 3 seconds the tri-coloured screen should appear.
3. To exit Bootloader you need to remove your back cover and pull the battery out for a few seconds, then replace it and press the power button to reboot your phone.
If you cannot get into the bootloader with the above instructions then it looks like you have bricked your device somehow but im not sure exactly how you could do it as task29 doesnt touch HardSPL.
If you can get into bootloader then you can flash a rom back to your device using the sd card method in my guide *HERE*.
Mark.

[Q] Crashed HD2, destroyed?

after flashing to 14 jan mdj. my hd2 crashed after 1 day of use. After that I can't boot into android or use USB. I think I even can't charge the phone. I don't see the red led. Andy ideas for fixing it? Try a new battery? It doesn't start up anymore, but it did a few times and said 12.fatal hit when booting android. I haven't tried Tricolour because I can't start it up anymore
Thanks,
When you turn on your phone what happens? What screen dow it take you to? What does it say when trying to run android? .......and for future notice this is the comnplete wrong section for this....and some more info regarding device, hspl, radio would be helpful too.

In the name of the wee man.
Post this in the right bloomin' topic.
The Mods have just spent an age reorganising this whole corner of XDA and what do you do?
Bugger it all up.
Well done.
At least you are consistent, you buggered your phone and the forum. Bravo.

Can you seriously follow anyone's instructions given man? Quit trying to boot the phone. Connect the phone with your PC via the USB cable. Hold down the "volume down" key and the "power" key at the same time. Tell us if you see the tri colored screen.

Have you checked the battery contacts? They bend very easy, and the symptoms you describe are exactly those of that. If they are bent, VERY, OH SO VERY CAREFULLY straighten them up. If one or more are broken, I hate to tell you this, but you need to buy a new phone.

I think you have wrongly done the Clock Work Mod which shows the 123Fatal Hit error and ur hd2 remains stuck there. Your HD2 is not crashed at all just charge it with an external charger then go to bootloader by pressing n holding Volume Down key and Power button until you the triple coloured screen, then connect your data cable to HD2 and flash it with a stock windows mobile rom so it will restore ur hd2 and after that u can install nand rom on it by following each and every step mentioned in tutorials here. Whenever I select boot AD SD after flashing partition layout I always get 123Fatal error now I don't understand what the problem is....If someone has a solution for this problem please reply in this thread as I don't want flashing through DFT method.

I think I might have bricked my phone while installing WP7

Because of my stupidity, I followed this guide to install WP7 on my HD2 leo. I should have watched the video through before actually going through with it.
I really really appreciate any help from you guys because I'm lost right now.
THE PROBLEM:
As I was going through the installation process, the person instructing the video said something along the lines "this rom is not for the HD2 Leo" so I clicked cancel on the install and turned my phone off.
When I turn it back on, my phone doesn't boot to WinMo 6.5 but instead goes to the Magldr v1.12 and says
"Booting WPH
WPH LOAD
123456
GO GO GO!"
I took the battery out and turned it on, but I just keep going back to this screen.
Can I do anything to fix this.
Doesn't sound like you've bricked you're phone... the bootloader is trying to now boot wp7 from you're nand but you haven't installed it...
boot up you're phone and hold the power button, this stops it from trying to boot the default.... which is wp7 ATM.
Few options
1) reinstall window 6.5 from HTC website using specific for you're phone
2) boot up phone holding power button and select USB flasher and instal wp7
3) install android using the same method as no 2
Full instructions are available on the forum.
Also without trying to sound harsh it might be wise to do a bit of research regarding flashing a non-standard rom before you go ahead and do it.
Hope you get it fixed soon
Matt

Wow, Thank you so much Matt. I got WP7 on it with your help.
I didn't know holding the power button allowed me to go to USB-Flasher and thats what I needed.
No problem mate, hope you enjoy it

[q] magldr help

Hey guys well I'm having really bad problems with Magldr and my phone. My phone just randomly restarted, then wouldn't get by the HTC bootsplash screen. But now, it won't even go in to Magldr or turn on, unless it's plugged in to my USB. So now, when I plug in the USB, the phone starts to boot up by the HTC screen then goes to the Magldr bootloader where it says From NAND, 1234 GO! screen.
But after this nothing happens and just repeats the same thing over and over again.
I've tried flashing different ROM's and different SD cards but they all have the same problem.
Any way I can fix it? Thanks.
LS
I'd suggest running a Task29 from bootloader, then starting again with installing magldr etc. I was also having some problems getting a rom to boot, so I've just returned after going all the way back to my stock winmo rom and all is good again.

Just the man I was hoping to help me lol. Is there a guide on that anywhere? I'm fairly new so don't really know what Task29 is. One thing - I tried to boot to HSPL and it wouldn't.
EDIT: After several tries, I'm in HSPL 2.08 now. Now I just have to find out how to do the rest. Do I keep an SD card in or does it matter?
Use this tool and select the option to run Task29. It formats the entire NAND area. From bootloader, connect to pc and run the tool, watch progress and as it reaches 100% hold the vol down button in so that the phone boots back to bootloader (if you miss it no biggy, just pull the battery and boot into bootloader). Then reinstall magldr etc.
You can leave the sd card in, makes no difference.

Thanks. Fingers crossed this works. Don't want a bricked phone.
As long as you have hspl you'll be fine. I've done this procedure hundreds of times
So I've ran the Task 29 but nothing's different. Still keeps rebooting. Any other tips?
Check your battery pins. Sometimes the copper pins get bent a little out of alignment. Just gently straighten them out by hand. Make sure that you are gentle in future when removing and especially inserting the battery.
You are f*cking god Clyde. Thank you so much. That's what it was. How do you know so much about the HD2? Great man. Do you have a Paypal?
Glad to have found the problem. Those battery pins have caused a few headaches, as I say be careful with them in future. I learn't just by reading the threads and having been around the block a few times . It's not necessary to give me any payment, but if you really want to buy me a pint, there is a donate link to my Paypal account just above my avatar. Thanks m8

[Q] Stuck at bootloader at boot

Hi
A friend of mine has a HD2, never HSPL or anything and still running on 1.42 rom.... Now everytime it boots it goes straight into the bootloader. Since its never been messed around with I find it odd, seen it before with people with other phones. Would this just be a corrupted ROM and therefore it goes there, would if poss a stock rom flash be able to restore the phone, if that is not the case then a warranty return is still valid, but obv not wanted.
What do you think, will this work? I did search but everyone's posts come up with I task 29 and now stuck... etc and not from a stock bootloader as well!
Cheers any help will be appreciated, my first thing I will get him to try is a rom reflash but that will be tonight, I'll update on the progress then!
First thing I would check is if his volume button is stuck for some reason. Second would be to see if it detects a USB connection, then hard spl and new rom from that point. Keep us posted.

The post above me is correct check and make sure the volume down button is not stuck/Hung in the down position. If it is stuck in the down position like it is being held down at boot then this is the cause of it going straight to bootloader at boot up. If there is no problem with the volume down button then try a hard reset of the HD2. Warning this will reset your friends HD2 tolike it was fresh out the box so any photos, videos, documents, and etc that is not on the SD card they will lose. Also any contacts that are not backed up withan app like Microsoft My Phone will be lost. To do the reset while the HD2 is off bold the volume up and the volume down buttons down and press and bold the power button down. When you see the tri color screen come up release the volume and power buttons and follow the instructions on the screen (hint: you will want to press the vume up button). Now if after the Hard reset your friends HD2 still goes to bootloader at boot up then download and flash the stock ROM for their HD2 you can find it on HTC.com but make sure you varifiy that it is for their HD2 by entering the serial number of their HD2 you can find the serial number look under the battery. To flash the ROM let the HD2 boot up to the bootloader and then connect it to the computer via USB cable and wait for the Serial in the white bar of the boooader screen to change to USB and for your computer to show it recognize the pbone and then run the .exe or RUU wich everone the ROM has.
Never thought of the key being held done will try that first.
Also I won't HSPL'ing as its in warranty and a half HSPL'ed phone is well useless
OK so i feel like a bit of an idiot for this one. Turns out what I call a bootloader and he does is totally different. For me Its the tri-colour screen, for him its the red/orange windows boot screen. So it was all solved by a HR. Great..
Sorry for those who offered the advice but it really was not needed. but solid advice it was, you always can rely on help in here
