How do I get S-off - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I am not one that usually needs help with anything but I have been searching for hours. How do I get S-Off??????????????????????????????

Give more details.
What device do you have? 32a? 32b?
Current radio and hboot?
Rooted?
recovery?

using a mytouch 3g 32b with the 2.2.1 ota used super one click to root but need a eng spl
1.33.0013d s-on
using clockwork at the moment but I have to reflash it every time I want to do something

Just flash a update.zip with the 2005 or 2010 spl. You'll get Eng s-off. Which means full fastboot.
But then you wont have the 0013 spl and wont have the extra 15mb of ram it provides. And you will have to flash an ebi0 (non 2708*) kernel to run many roms.
So a question, what do you want s-off for?

I guess I don't after reading what you wrote. I'm just used to using fastboot for the things I do. Also, no longer know anything about this device. I am only trying to make it tolerable until the galaxy nexus comes out. Thanks for your help

New SPL for myTouch 1.2

So I've figured out that I've got the myTouch 1.2 (because I have the 3.5mm jack) and I'm currently running a ported version of SuperD 1.10.3 which is awesome. The issue I have is that I want to replace my splash screen, however, the only success I've had in getting my phone rooted and a custom ROM loaded was to load up a rooted SPL, flash AmonRA's 1.7.0G recovery, and then reflash my radio/SPL back to the original state. So, I don't want to have to load up one of the rooted SPL's and then go back every time I want to use ADB via Fastboot. What I was wondering is if there's any 32A SPL's with the 2.22 radio so that I wouldn't have to go back to the locked (perfected) SPL. Here's what I've got
FASTBOOT Specs:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
RADIO - 2.22.23.02

This is the wrong section. Should be in General (unless you're releasing a new engineering spl)
You need to use an engineering spl to modify your splash screen, flash the new splash screen, then flash your stock spl back. You might be able to continue to use the other engineering spl (1.33.2010) but you will lose half of your ram, headphone jack, etc.
Here's the engineering spl
Here is the stock spl
Alright, that's what I had been doing but wasn't sure if maybe there had been an engineering SPL put out that I could continuously use. The issue I've had is that whenever I load the engineering SPL, do whatever I need to, then go back to the original SPL, I can no longer boot into recovery. I end up having to reload the engineering SPL, flashing over the hboot and radio, and reflashing my recovery on. Is that right or is there an easier way.
About the wrong section, I though about that a few minutes ago, sorry for posting in the wrong one. I'll remember that for next time.
What I've been able to do is just flash the 2010 Engineering SPL, flash my new splash screen, then revert back to the normal SPL and everything works from there.

@Binary100100
How do I Flash ENG SPL and Flash back the Stock SPL? Is there a guide?
Also, how do I back up my own Stock SPL?
(wondering the one provided stock spl is the 1.33.0013)
thnx in advance.!

If you've got the myTouch 1.2 (with the 3.5mm jack) then you can use this guide following steps 1-8. What are you trying to do it for?

I want to Flash the FAT GREEN T-Mobile Splash screen into something else.
wow, thnx for the guide. but I need to make a GoldCard? is the the only way to flash the SPL? and flash it back?
Binary100100 posted the ENG SPL, and original SPL. What I am wondering is, what spl version is the original?
Can I just zip up the Original SPL, and rename it update.zip. and Flash it.
Will this work?
The original SPL will include the stock recovery which you don't want. That's why only the radio and bootloader are in that guide to be flashed back.

[Q] [32A] going to old radio and keeping new spl

Hello everyone.
I used search but couldn't find it. Probably because search doesn't take under consideration 3letter words like "new", "old" and "spl".
I'm running:
sapphire pvt 32a eng s-off h
hboot-1.76.2007 (sapp10000)
cpld-12
radio-6.35.08.29
aug 21 2009, 18:19:15
1.6.2 AmonRA recovery.
Can I revert to old Radio and keep new SPL?
What should be the order of downgrade? Radio first and SPL later or the other way around?
Should I maybe downgrade them together and later upgrade SPL back to 1.76?
Any pros/cons of running old radio and new SPL? Is custom recovery a game changer in this process? Should I go back to stock recovery?
Thanks for your help. Cheers.
NO.. the spl and radio is a combo and cannot be interchanged.
Download my fastboot commander tool (magic version, check my signature) and it will do it for you the easy way :0)
And what if i saw in someones signature 3.22 radio and 1.76 spl ? just an error or a possibility?
Ask that someone...
But highly a mistake!

Does recovery version has to be old too? Or can i just keep the new one?
You have to change your recovery too, because switching the radio alters your phones partitioning scheme, thus making the recovery crash.

[Q] Is SPL Must for custom rom?

I am new to Android and this is my first device.... Previously, owned HTC P3600, HTC Diamond 2 and now got the HTC Magic today.
I read the Development section and question section...
Just want to confirm the following about it:
Q:1: Is SPL must for custom rom or root can do it for me?
As i read in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756918 that it is optional but like in windows it is must to load custom rom... confused!
Q:2: Do the company radio works or i have to load custom radio?
Q:3: Is android too easy to brick as far i remember my all last windows mobiles come alive again what ever i flash to it....?

Yes it's easy to brick if you just start flashing things without doing your research. The best/easiest way to root is to use one of the many programs available that will do it for you without the risk of bricking. I'll let someone else comment on upgrading your radio, but I can tell you that you will not have to update it. There are ROM's that will work with that radio just fine.

You should just follow the instructions for your particular device. Since there are dozens of different MyTouch devices and many of them are different in a variety of ways then it can be argued that there are better methods bearing better results than others. In a nutshell, there is no universal answer to your question. Being unfamiliar with your SPL (HBOOT-1.33.00.10???) I can't even begin to point you in the correct direction. Can you verify that information please?
In most cases it is recommened that you have an Engineering SPL for fastboot access. From there you can easily flash a custom recovery which in turn will allow you to flash a custom rom (along with making system backups, data wiping, etc) but neither are hardly a requirement. Radio? Again... depends on what you have specifically. Some roms require a certain radio or it will fail to even load. And only certain devices with certain SPL's (yours being 1.33.00.10???) can use certain radio types. The danger comes in when you attempt to flash an incompatible radio with the wrong SPL. This is why it is crucial to verify ALL information before beginning.
Any recommended SPL for mine device...?
I believe the OP meant to put 1.33.2010 for his SPL but I don't want to speculate. Could you please post your fastboot information again and double-check that it is correct.

Q1) Yes the spl is optional. When newbies (which are the main target of the guide you linked too) come here, they are looking for an easy upgrade. Playing around with spl and such is not a good idea, unless you do your research... Sadly only 1 out of 100 do that. That's why the custom recovery is a perfect solution. You really have to do some stupid **** before you COMPLETELY **** up your device. Plus you can do almost anything using custom recovery.
Flashing a spl ( as i write in my guide) is only valid if you know some shell commands, know the difference between img and zip files, plus understand how the device is build around the different partitions, e.g. radio, system, misc ect. Sadly only few uses the time to understand the above and we have like 1-3 every day crying for help.
SO - only flash spl if you know what you are doing or have done the research.
Q2) There are no custom radios. Only stock. For your device, the 32A or more correctly the CPLD-12, there are 2 different combos of radio/spl/recovery you can use.
Read around for more info as this has been written like 100 times :0)
Q3) Well, it depends :0)
If you play around with spl or radio you can brick your device. Again to understand why here is some simplified info.
Spl - Secondary program loader - is the data that has to be loaded when the device wakes up. When you push power button, the hardware wakes up, and follows VERY SPECIFIC steps to activate all the internal components. When it's semi done, it goes for the spl to load the rest. The spl always has to be on the same place or the device will not know where to look. The device is like child(which is born again every time you hit the power). When you hit the power button, it have some instincts(the steps) then it gets more and more intelligent as time goes by and more and more data is been loaded and processed. Think of the spl as the first part of computers BIOS. When the spl loads, it has to get some info about the complicated hardware, like the screen, antenna, sound ect. That's what the radio is for. So the spl has to know WHERE to look for the radio, and the radio has to be in a certain format or the spl will be confused. Remember, we are very early in the loading process of the device, so the data is very machine-close and in a very specific format.
When the spl is done, and the radio has been processed, then it will look at the boot partition for info on how to load the OS. The boot partition has info about how to load the OS and the different partitions, e.g. userdata, system ect. It will also try to load the kernel which is the CORE of the OS. It handles the ram, filesystem, I/O, mount of sdcard ect.
BACK TO THE POINT:
If you mess up the first part (spl or radio) then your bricked. You device is like a 2 week old child and is useless. It wakes up, poops on you and sleeps again.
So, DON'T **** UP THE SPL OR RADIO.
If you mess up the rest, you can still recover the device. Some times that can be very limited because of the perfected spl, but that's for another thread :0)
So, for your device, follow my guide and you should be good to go. If you are confident, then flash eng spl also :0)
It's up to you to decide....
Good luck
Thanks everyone i ended up making the device rooted and flashed the custom recovery for a moment....
I have no plan to **** my SPL or radio and play with it later like football....
So, i am happy that i have now rooted and custom recovery installed... Any easy guide to load the rom?
Thank you everyone....
Download ROM, copy to root of SD card, boot into recovery, select flash ZIP from SD card, select ROM .zip file. That's the general idea, but some ROM's require that you flash extra files. For example CyanogenMod will require that you also flash a Google Add-on file.
Any rom that don't require any extra work and flash directly?
Come on... you started this thread perfectly... now don't mess it up.
Read around, do some research. You will find 90 % of your questions has already been answered within the first 10 threads...

HTC Magic 32b 3.22 radio ROM problem

Hi,
I have HTC Magic Vodafone UK version (32b) . A month ago I wanted to install a ROM which required a higher version of radio, and I bricked it
I had it repaired in a shop, but it seems that the guys put the wrong radio. This is what I get in fastboot:
Now I have 3.22 radio (which is only for Magic 32a). The problem now is that I cannot install 32b ROMs because of the radio, and 32a ROMs are also not working (or maybe I am doing sth wrong). The only ROM which is working currently for me is VOdafone 2.2.1 32a.
So, my question is: which ROMs should I be installing now - 32a or 32b?? Should I maybe go again with radio change, and go back to the old one (which is a risky process)
Thanks!
Thread moved to General.
Please pay attention where you post your threads next time.
Sorry, will pay attention in the future
The good thing is, that you have eng spl..
So you have total control over the device,,,
You can flash anything you want..
Just flash a different radio and you should be set :0)
Hey mumilover,
Thanks for the reply.
The thing is that I've already bricked it once when tried to change the radio, so now I'm afraid to do it again and thus trying to find some alternative
Download my fastboot commander from my signature.
Download this radio: https://rapidshare.com/files/455782324/2.22.19.26I.img
Flash it.
Download this recovery: http://rapidshare.com/files/387932919/recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img
Flash it.
Reboot into recovery and flash whatever rom you like :0)
Good luck.
When I was reading about flashing radios, I remembered pretty long and complicated procedure (downgrade android, wipe, etc.) Is it with your fastboot commander that easy???
I got more than 5000+ users....

Hey, I have just given it a try, but it won't flash the radio. I get the Fastboot connection (it says "Fastboot USB" on the phone screen), but in your app it says that "PRINT OF DEVICE INFO FAILURE - PLEASE CHECK YOUR CONNECTION.
No fastboot device connected."
Any idea what the problem might be?
By the way, I have been using regular fastboot for quite some time, and it was always working flawlessly with my phone.
Seems like its the connection to me, even with s-on on my phone it I still get the device info print off
Which OS do you use?

I adviced owner to flash 2708 radio and SPL 1.33.0013d from recovery.
After flashing of radio phone became a brick...
Hope guy will manage to unbrick it, but the question is what to do further.
Is it safety to flash radio/spl using your soft of it would be better to use fastboot method described here (I mean Revert to 32B Radio)?
And is radio 2.22.19.26I what we really need?
Which SPL should be flashed after to escape bricking?
Keep the spl...
flash the 2.22.19.26I radio and G recovery from my tool or fastboot.
Then you should be all ok...

Ok, I see. Do you think engineering 1.33.0010 should remain untouched?
But how to flash new 1.33.0013d which is required for many roms with appropriate kernels?
P. S. I've tried your tool on another computer, and still can't get a connection to my HTC Magic ((
It finally worked!!!
Well, nobody told me that I needed to install this HTC Sync software...
OK, so I finally installed 2.22.19 radio, but for this ROM I need 2.22.23 and Death SPL. Is it safe to install those using your tool???
Again, thanks for your time!

You need a few things.
1. goldcard
2. A sappimg.zip with a higher version than what you have with an Eng spl. (Preferably for 32b)
3. Time, patience
4. Luck
All of these are easy to find or get besides time, patience, and luck
Im currently looking for sappimg.zip that contains the required criteria. I will post after flash attempt...
thank you
forgot to mention
I forgot to mention a common occurance since I lost custom recovery and custom rooted rom, ect.
the "goldcard-sappimg-flash" process freezes or hangs at [4] SYSTEM during the unzipping portion
As you have MT3G v1.2 / Fender - it is too hard to restore your phone after your faulty actions. You bricked your phone, when flashed inappropriate hboot and radio

That post seems to be talking about mismatched radio and spl. His match, but are the wrong ones. He should be able to flash a sappimg.zip to get an Eng spl and fix from there
Ironically, the thread you have suggested is the first thread I followed to configure my device for the "carz" latest custom rom.
Is there a way around the "unzipping hang" that happens during system partition portion of RUU_Sapphire_Rogers_WWE_3.05.631.7_R_release_signed_NoDriver flash? I have also tried the goldcard method with extracted rom.zip of the mentioned RUU rom with same result.

Yeah, but solution is same. Sure, he can start from step 2, cause he has combo without mismatch between hboot and radio already.
And yes, should flash 2.53.707.2 to get special combo with eng spl and then return to stock.

I was having problems rooting my Rogers HTC Magic+. I used this method and it worked like a charm to get root, Eng SPL. After that I was able to flash custom recovery and ROMS.
The ROM in my Signature works really well.
Flash the original "RRU", then root with androot.apk from market, install rommanager from market and flash recovery, reboot recovery and flash the ENG spl
solved your problem yet? maybe i may help.
no... i have not solved my problem yet your help would be greatly appreciated
