Good bye (kind of) - Continuum General

Welp, I just sold my Continuum. But I did sell it to my friends' daughter so I'll still be around and I'll help when I can. Maybe I can use it to test some stuff out if the Continuum doesn't die completely anytime soon. Thank you to all the devs that made this phone awesome, even if Samsung pushed it to the side.

Welp, we'll miss you (kind of). But at least you are being a good hacker, and maintaining an excuse to stick around. Tell your friend's daughter to enjoy my phone.

Thx2 All You Evil Bastards

I just wanna say ever since i found this site....
my gf thinks im nuts....
i got my good friend who is not at all tech savy and spends most his time smoking weed...moding his mt3g (and his xbox nowadays)
ive bricked a g1 (dangerspl ftw) and mt3g
completely token apart my og g1 switched the screen and motherboard
and for the record ive loved every moment of it.
I just wanna say thank you to all you evil geniuses out there that aren't afraid to man handle your new phones to make it better.
I just recently rooted my mytouchslide with teamfenix rom and dopio OC Kernel 3.5 on 825
and its working great!!!!
I even got the psx4droid app to work with most games at about 80-90% speed
now all i need is flash to work again like stock rom and id be golden!
Its not that serious dude.....
Modding is very cool and fun in the beginning, but like most hobbies people get into, they loose interest after a while.
I was the same way with psp modding. I had gone threw several. Taking them apart, programming stuff for them, adding leds and shells, all that good stuff. Felt like I was a doctor or gave me a feeling of power/joy in a way.
Eventually I looked at what I was really doing and who really cared about what I was doing. I gained lots of popularity online (psp-hacks forum and pspmods forum) but my relationships outside that was very boring. Not many people in my life even remotely cared about what I was into. Some things got me attention but its very short lived.
The biggest motivation for my change was my money situation. My money was going to technology but nothing new, same products. Companies made some extra dough on my stupidity.
Well just have fun with it while it lasts. Gives you some time to learn some pretty cool stuff. If you are anything like me you will look at something and immediately think you can do it and you eventually can with a little trial and error. My advice, never rush into anything, that's how **** gets broken. Take your time and truly learn instead of going head in to something....

Rachel and I...

Rachel and I broke up this weekend.
I saw it coming awhile ago, but when it happened it was faster than I expected. Rachel and I started our love affair about 6 months ago. We got along very well, but there were drawbacks to our relationship.
I remember when I first saw her, she looked nearly perfect. She was gorgeous in her sexy black outfit, and tall. But she was only 16. You know how 16 is, sexy as hell and full of promise, a bit of a tease.
I tried to introduced her to a few of my friends; Bluant S4, Vlingo and MBW-150. They liked her well enough but she didn’t fully connect to them. She wouldn't even talk to Vlingo.
There were other problems. Like the fact that she wouldn’t let me touch her multiple times (she hated when I tried to pinch her). She would tire out quickly during the day and have to take a nap to recharge.
I started thinking that I needed to maybe look around for someone older, more mature. Someone maybe 21 or 22. I started flirting with a few others, but nothing serious.
Rachel noticed, and started to make some promises. She asked me to give her some time to mature. “just a few months” she said. “just until October, please.” I waited, giving her the benefit of the doubt. October came, but she hadn’t changed. “I need a little more time”, she said. “give me until the end of the month, November at the latest, December for sure.” By this time, someone else had caught my eye.
Desire wasn’t quite as beautiful as Rachel, but she made up for it in other ways. She was more mature for one thing. She was 21, and about to turn 22. We started flirting, and went out a few times. She loved being touched multiple times, and giggled when I pinched her. She was more outgoing and got along with a lot more people. She would speak with everyone in the market, and introduced me to others that I didn't know. She was happy to meet Bluant S4, and Vlingo, and connected right away with MBW-150. She felt faster and more exciting that Rachel too.
So I took the plunge, and broke it off with Rachel. I wished her the best of luck, hoping that she will mature over the next few months. Will I ever date another Finnish/Japanese girl? I doubt it. They look beautiful, but they all seem to tease rather than please. I think I’m done with them. I’m moving on.
Am I happy with Desire? Sure. But I can’t help but feel that there is something missing. Desire’s more petite than Rachel, not quite as high class. She’s missing a few things that I loved about Rachel. Will things last with Desire? I don't know. I think that maybe she might be my rebound girl.
Desire did show me a picture of her cousin the other day. She’s in Europe right now, but might be coming to North America later this year, or early next. She even has almost the same name as Desire, with a few added initials; Desire HD. She looks hot. Reminds me a lot of Rachel. I could get into her in a heartbeat.
But for now, Desire’s my girl and we’re enjoying ourselves.
I want to thank everyone for all of the advise and help I received in this forum. The Xperia X10 was my first Android phone, and you never forget your first.
Please excuse the “farewell post”.
Good luck to all with the 2.1 update, and I hope the devs crack the bootloader so that the updates don’t stop at 2.1.
As an ex-SE fanboy, I really hope that SE gets its act together and starts listening to the dev community. However I really doubt it, which is why the X10 will be my last SE phone.
As for me, I’m moving on to the HTC Desire while I wait for the Desire HD to arrive in Canada. Cheers everyone, see you around.
I thought desire was a male

i am thinking to get wp7 device cos it looks so great but i`ll stick with android aswell this is just a thought
Funny post but still its not very helpful and will probably get reduced to a thread of flaming

Hats off to our Devs, I'm ready to move on

*warning, this thread has no drama, bashing, or flaming. I know it's not the XDA way but I wanted to thank everyone.
I know there is a thanks button but wanted to especially give a thanks to our hard working Vibrant Devs. Long and bumpy road but I think my Vibrant is finally where it was meant to be (IMO). I'm ready to move on to the next Samsung device and will be staying in the SGS family. This is the longest I have kept a phone in years. Over 6 months is like a lifetime to me. Hopefully my site scored a review unit from our dealings at MWC, which I'm hoping I have a part of.
Anyway, my Vibrant running Bionix 1.2 with a Supercurio injected kernel is damn near perfect for me. Great data speed, 10 sec GPS lock, 24 hour battery life, no lag, great voice calls and quality. I could not ask for anything more. 6 million ODIN's and wipes and I dont know what else I can expect from this phone. Maybe an FFC to hold me off.
Thanks to all the Devs that made it possible. Hats off. I have a combination of work from most of these great people, and some others of course. Thanks to all.
Team Whiskey
Eugene
Master
Supercurio
ttabbal
and many more that work with them and elsewhere...
I agree with you, if it weren't for these guys I would never buy another samsung phone. Since the recent work that has come out is nothing short of great and IMO headed in the right direction, I will most likely keep samsung in mind upon my next update.
Just curious, what phone are you getting next?

Whatever TMO variant of the SGS II family. Been a long time supporter of HTC, and never really a Moto fan. I like the build quality of HTC and Moto, but the pros and cons of Samsung really do it for me. I got some hands on at CES on most phones there and my editor is now at MWC relaying info. LG and Sammy have it locked. If the Atrix was in TMO flavor then it would be considered, but HTC just updated thier current line and Moto hates community development.
My editors first look at the SGS II and the new Tab She told me the casing feels quite solid, unlike the current SGS line which is good to hear.
Based off what I know here is why I like Sammy:
damn near unbrickable
Super AMOLED kills it, now we have a "+" version
hack/mod friendly
Samsung CPU/GPU's hold their own
We have great Devs supporting the Samsung line

New User of the HTC Droid Incredible? Enter here to introduce yourself!

Hi guys, I started this thread with the intent that the new users of our forum could first stop in and introduce their selves. They are the new blood around here and may very well have something useful to share with us! Use this thread as you see fit as long as you keep it clean and follow all the XDA rules
Enjoy!!!
Here I'll start us off:
Hi my name is Josh. I'm 27, married to the best woman in the world. We have a beautiful 5yo daughter who is now in school. I have one dog, one wolf mix, a cat, a hamster and a tank full of minnows(my daughter said we are not allowed to use them as bait, lol) I am U.S. Army Medically Retired. I was a 91B(mechanic)(originally a 63W for you old heads) in the Army until I hurt my back. I've been to Iraq twice, Egypt once, and did maint support operations on the Port of Beaumont, Texas and the Port of Olympia in Washington. I was there while the riots where going on. I did enjoy serving my country and am very proud to have been given this special opportunity. Now that I am out of the mil I can focus more on my family, living life and of course my geeky addiction.
Its been a fun road to now. I started out with my first Android phone the HTC Droid Eris. I enjoyed the works of many great devs and learned so much while using there Rom's. workshed, Tazzpatriot, condemned soul, conap, gnarlic man the list goes on... These guys are really who got me interested in developing and everything else. With there help a did a little theming for the Eris. It was mostly just minor stuff for Cm. As time past I eventually moved on to the HTC Droid Incredible. I've been here since March. I started out again doing some theming then I moved up to my DTR's (BUNKER BUSTER DTR and yes since I'm retired U.S Army thats why it is named something militaryish). Its a fun little project and its also my way of sticking it to the man, lol. Now most of my focus goes to my Roms. I have Pure Speed which is my first and my baby. I'm so proud of that rom. I also have Hybrid Speed, Sub Sonic and my latest my first ever 3.0 rom Pure Shooter.
All in all this Inc community has taught me so much and showed me a whole new world I never knew existed. We have good support, good people and great devs here. My time spent here is now just keeping my work updated and trying to help out as much as I can.
Anyways, enough with me blabbering on... Lets hear about you!
You know the phone is awesome when the introduce yourself thread is created a year and a half after release.

Well its just that here recently we've had a mass of new users show for whatever reason so guess now is better than never.
Seriously, I got mine in march of this year with phones surrounding the dinc that supposedly had better tech and have not looked back since. When my contract is up in two years, there will be some serious advancements in phone tech.

Yea that's me too. I got mine in March as well so I'm still in for the long haul. Just trying to help mold our forums into something fun and enjoyable for all of us alike.
Well i actually just recently got my incredible last month because i smashed my iphone 4(walls and apples don't mix). In the last 2 months I've done more on my phone than development wise than ever thought possible now I'm hooked.

Hi Don me too, lol. BTW what are you doing in here old timer? Just kidding.
New Guy
Retired Navy with 30 years in Subs. (Missile Technician)
I used this forum to root the other day.
This site seems to be used as a reference for others so I went to the source.
I rooted to the CM7 and the new radio that came out with gingerbread.
After going through the rooting process I am ready not to go through the setup again. TB kept force closing after each app install(took a long time) I'll wait for awhile and let the guru's play with the new GB and see what develops.
I am Ryan, been here since day 1. The root process was crazy involved then... Memories! But I got it, after three days of trying after work! I try to help here from my experiences I've had with my Inc. I've rooted my girl's Desire, my Xoom, and this week my buddy's Inc is getting the business!
I've done some minor tweaking of existing code, but haven't done any ROM creating/modding. I've made themes for myself, so I understand how to replace/edit/create draw 9 PNG's and replacing other files in APKs. I've become pretty good with GIMP, but have never created images from scratch.
Other than that, I'm a smart ass, like to golf, and am currently moving in with my girl. I've met really cool people in these forums, who I continue to talk with via Twitter or Gtalk.
Looking forward to helping anyone out, and meeting new/existing DInc owners.

This sounds like an android support group ha
anyway..
Hi!
My name is Paul I've had my phone since November of last year, but only later decided I wanted to try this rooting shenanigans in January. I was again slow to switch from sense over to AOSP, but now since I've done all that I really love my phone and even now I just figured out there's a whole mess more you can do with widgetlocker and other theming apps.

I've recently found a really cool site for android theming:
http://mycolorscreen.com/category/android/
Some of the stuff on there I had no idea you could even do, it's amazing.
I think there'll probably be more user who've had their Dinc for a while rather than newer users BUT ANYWAYS.... Well my name's Antonio and I'm 17. I'm hoping to go to either Princeton or Boston University and become an Anesthesiologist. The Dinc is my first smartphone and I got it in September 2010, but didn't root until sometime around December. I had no idea what root was, I found out more about it when Gingerbread first came out and builds started coming out for the Dinc. I began to do some research and I found Xda, but I didn't become a member until March of this year. I have since then become a flashaholic and the longest continous time I've had a ROM has been Pure Shooter for two weeks so far.... Do we get a gold star for this? Lol

Well I'm not new, but I figured I'd chime in a bit!
Hi all! I'm Bob and I'm a college student with a major in Computer Science and minor in Information Systems. The HTC Incredible is my first smartphone, and since I got it on launch week, I've been hooked! I was pretty active on Android Forums, helping people out and whatnot but I finally decided to make XDA my permanent home.
I've recently begun developing apps for Android just as a fun side project. I have not made a ROM yet, but I have been heavily debating it. I think I'll give it a try when the real Gingerbread OTA comes out, but we'll see since I'll be busy with school starting back up AND work in a few days...
I try to help people out because this is a community. I try to give feedback as much as possible and like to point people in the right direction if ever needed. I am a bit of a ROM flashing addict and even the ROMs that I don't try, I at least read about and get familiarized with! The Inc community is seriously awesome, and we've only gotten better as a whole. Thanks to the devs and to all the members for making my hobby even more enjoyable!
cool idea; you know, i've always wondered about a lot of us here..we always talk phones and whatnot, but we dunno anything about eachother lol
well i'm jay (clearly lol) and i'm from the shore of NJ, born and raised (not to be affiliated with that dirtbag trash on that bull**** TV show, sigh.) i'm 24, i've got my bachelors from rutgers university and my masters from monmouth..unfortunately, since our wonderful government is utter **** right now, the fact that my degrees deal with getting a job in the state/federal government realm isn't helping whatsoever, as I can't land a gov job for the life of me...so i currently work for a small family-owned Verizon store that sells vzw phones, accessories and FiOS. besides that, i'm a musician of 11 years (bass, guitar, drums) and i play bass in a band.
as for my wonderful android journey, it only began in may of 2010 when my buddy sold me his htc eris for 20 bucks when he got his dinc on release day in the mail in april. he told me it'd be fine for me since it was my first smartphone, but he was sick of it already (had it for like 4 months lol) and that it was super laggy to him, so he got the dinc. well, the eris lasted me barely 3 months..even after rooting it and upping my processor speed with setcpu, the thing was still super laggy and the typing lag was atrocious..
so i was one of the people who ordered the Dinc during the Great Amoled Shortage of '10 hahah...ordered it early July, and got it on July 29th...kept it stock for a while, thought the phone was AMAZXING bc there was no typing lag etc...and then that damn Froyo OTA hit, and my phone just started crapping out. typing lag was about as bad as it was on the eris after that OTA, and i almost threw this phone so many times. so finally, in january of '11 i rooted...put on lou's redemptive revolution, still had keyboard lag, and was just super angry.
then i saw Z roms come about, and my lag was finally gone, and i've been playing with new roms ever since. so yeah, safe to say i've easily had this phone for a year and have no intentions on upgrading anytime soon! haha
whoa, that was a book! but whatever. i love my inc, and after just installing synergy again and the Warm theme for the first time, it's bringing me back to my early days of rooting when my first Z rom was warm z two.point.two!! ahh nostalgia.
I'm somewhat new here, due to my recent activity. But I recently got hold of an Incredible after my Droid A855 had growing digitizer issues. I haven't looked back because I really grew to like the device because it's extremely light (sometimes a little too light for comfort), and it's been smooth as melted butter. I'm currently running gingerbread inc deck 1.2b beta on my rooted Incredible. For what I consider(ed) a stop gap device, I'll be hard pressed to find a 4G phone I'll like enough to use my upgrade from VZW..
Another march guy. My name is cameron. I'm 17, currently jobless, have way too much on my plate for a 17 year old, and have the best girlfriend and family I could ask for.
The job field I want to get into its automotive. I've been tearing apart 350 small blocks, 429 big blocks, honda engines, and everything in between since I could walk.
I'm an admitted crackflasher (flashed every rom in the dev section at least once) I was introduced to android when I got a motorola defy for christmas (it blew)
One day I eventually wanna have a family of my own with this girl right here.

So that's about it for me. Have a good night everyone!
Please lengthen your message to at least 10 charters

Just felt like saying so long!

The Samsung Vibrant (up until this point) has been the most versatile, hackable phone I've ever had. I'll be sorry to leave it be. Unfortunately the guts of my phones microUSB port decided to go on an extended holiday.
As a treat to myself this year I got a Nexus 4. I hope it will be equally as fun over on that side of XDA as it has been here!
Go holla at my boy dougfresh, he's balls deep in N4 ROMs and kernels.
Id est quod est
Good luck with your new phone and we all are sad to see another person go. "It is what it is" though. Take what you have learned here and hopefully apply it to someone in the N4 forums when they need help.
Feel free to pop in and say Hi once in awhile.
Good Luck and we'll see you around.
