I want to take a second to introduce myself..my name is Eric
I was here awhile back, as a blackberry user
Now, as a "droid" user
Which form of a droid, yet to be determined.
I"ll spare the long story, I had 3 Nexus', had problems, still swear it is one of the most phenomenal phones, then I decided cause of all the hype and I wanted a large screen, and a black one, less rounded....got an EVO
Well, the phone is great. Sprint customer service.
I didn't hold tru to keeping a story short, but I will hold true to bashing a company. Let your mind do the guessing
So I decided to get a Nexus. I also read all the hype about the Vibrant. I went and got the Vibrant also since I had the money and read that it was spectacular and one of the only things negative is the plastic back and NO flash. Well a lot of phones have plastic parts.. It contributes to a beautiful phone, other parts are metal . Other glass
So I have both phones coming to me.
I asked others in forums if there were people who use two phones, short of people who make them use one for work and another for personal, and they say, NO, and the ones that do do it say it is a pain in the neck.
To make what was supposed to be this SHORT story end, could you please tell me what I could possibly do with two phones. I have asked myself that over and over, clearly the mind of a person who is not able to decide LOL
Which one is better If you are a mod you may have given me your advice in the past
The difference now is this. I hear that there are only several cases of the nexus left and once gone, ninety days from the day of last sale, , what is the correct phrase, customer service will stop (according to Nexus support NOT the ad)
He also said that HTC will handle warranty, but everything else, who knows
Which one should I keep if only one?
I feel the Vibrant. Other than updates (and if you have a spectacular phone, which is what the Vibrant is) there should be no differences, in fact, go with the phone with the most support correct.
I will post in the Nexus side also. Thanks
Keep the Nexus One to Mod and use the Vibrant as your daily driver!
Yeah. Why would you have to keep only one?
You gotta change it up now and again. We men like a little variety..
Just wanted to personally thank all you guys for all the help you gave me with my 7 month run with my Vibrant. It has been the best Android phone I have ever owned and I will surely miss it.
I couldn't pass up a great deal I found on eBay for a dell streak unlocked. The seller mistakenly listed the phone as "Dell Streak Sprint", which obviously was never available for sprint. In the auction, it clearly states "Unlocked for T-Mobile and AT&T". I ended up winning the auction for $203 with free shipping with usb cable, charger, etc. in Excellent condition I am so excited to try it out as I have lusted after this phone since last summer. I have LUSTED over the 5" screen!
I will indeed miss my Vibrant, but my girlfriend has a Vibrant also, so I can always get my Vibrant fix from that.
I just bought a LG Optimus T off craigslist ($40 bucks lol no joke) rooted it and removed all bloatware etc. It's actually exceeded by expectations as a bottom of the barrel Android phone. Its actually pretty quick despite the little processor I plan on keeping it as my back up cell!
In no means am I trying to sell my phone to anyone here, but it is listed on eBay as we speak.
I am open to all criticism and/or nice comments ya'll have to say
Thanks again XDA for making my Vibrant experience wonderful!!!
congrats. good luck on your new phone
Pretty nice deal indeed you got yourself mate, best of luck with your new phone
in my opinion, any android tablet is better then the ipad...so great choice!
OMG Another one of these
Why are telling the whole world of your departure? Why not just leave? I, for one, couldn't give a rats... and i bet most others don't either. JUST LEAVE!!!! Your phone is crap and this thread is crap.

Thank you for your hospitality! I really appreciate your kind words!
And just to clarify, I was thanking the forum and devs. in general, not you. I didn't expect hugs and kisses from anyone, I was just asking peoples opinions on my switch to the Streak. You, obviously, created a useless post, but it made me laugh and laughter is healing.
Best of luck to you in all your future endeavors! Happy Mother's Day!

This is my first thread as an OP, and ironically probably my last in the HeroC forums.. I converted over to the 3vo yesterday (and yes the rumors are true, it is amazing), so this is somewhat of a farewell thread but also one last testament to how awesome this little hero is..
i was on vacation last week with my wife's family in the mountains of Tennessee, we get a cabin there every year.. but everybody in the family has a smart phones, there are 2 brand new windows phones on AT&T and the rest are sprint, 2 evos a nexus s, and a random asortment of other phones.. but they all have looked at the hero with disdain, because most had the hero stock (which we all know sucked balls), and only 2 of them actually let me root it, but wouldnt let me optimize it at all.. but they all looked at my little hero like it was a piece of trash, because they had all moved on to "better" phones.. but on to the point, up in this mountain there was hardly a cell signal, the AT&T phones had zero signal, and the others were hit and miss.. but, my hero had signal the whole time.. not only did it have signal, but i wireless tethered to the laptops so we could get on the internet.. so while their condescending "awesome" phones sat lifeless on their night stands, my hero reigned supreme and gave life to their devices..
i know that didnt really have a lot to do with anything, but thought i would throw it out there, this phone despite being left to die by sprint and HTC, continues to conquer where other phones fail.. my hero shall sit in a glass case as it watches over its android kingdom..
and many thanks to all of the people that have helped me around here, and hopefully i have returned the favor at some point.. i will still be floating around here especially until the 3vo forums settle down a bit.. but raise a glass to our hero, heres to the greatest of the phones that was never meant to be great..
Cheers!

Well said!!!....Not only did my Hero serve me well for 16 months in the face of all those who scoffed. It's now been put into service teaching my 11 year old the ways of Android.
It's amazing how many people revere their Heros. It's just like your first love. I went through the Palm Pilot thing, and this really reminds me of that. People posted about upgrading, but talked about the respect and admiration they had for their first device.
Good luck to you in 3vo land, sounds like that community is really getting going.

I've been browsing these boards tonight as I have been rooting and flashing my sister's Hero. This phone and its community is a spitting image of the Eris I had. I really am glad to see a diamond in the rough across all carriers to spread the Android love. Sorry to stray off topic, but I know all about having a great community driven phone, and I will never forget my Eris.

I enjoyd mine. I rooted almost immediately when I got it last year and learned the Android trades of hack and mod. It was a great introduction to Android OS and a solid little phone. Now that I have the 3VO, I somewhat miss it for things like the jogball, root, custom ROMs. I sold it to a coworker so I still have visitation, lol.

my wife and i both had heros and she moved on to an evo a while back, and wanted nothing to do with her hero, so i traded it in, and kept mine so it can have a nice retirement.. if i get bored with the 3d or aosp posts something amazing, i will take him down and give him a fresh flash to keep him up to date.. it is most deff one of the best devices to learn stuff on, there wasnt anything that i couldnt do to that phone.. times that i swore it was bricked and then 15 minutes later he was pumping again.. :tear:
I've had mine for about a year, and I plan to have him for maybe another year... or maybe more, depends I really love this little thing.

Nicely put man... Cheers to our little phone that was Never Meant/Suppose to be Great!!
Hi guys, I started this thread with the intent that the new users of our forum could first stop in and introduce their selves. They are the new blood around here and may very well have something useful to share with us! Use this thread as you see fit as long as you keep it clean and follow all the XDA rules
Enjoy!!!
Here I'll start us off:
Hi my name is Josh. I'm 27, married to the best woman in the world. We have a beautiful 5yo daughter who is now in school. I have one dog, one wolf mix, a cat, a hamster and a tank full of minnows(my daughter said we are not allowed to use them as bait, lol) I am U.S. Army Medically Retired. I was a 91B(mechanic)(originally a 63W for you old heads) in the Army until I hurt my back. I've been to Iraq twice, Egypt once, and did maint support operations on the Port of Beaumont, Texas and the Port of Olympia in Washington. I was there while the riots where going on. I did enjoy serving my country and am very proud to have been given this special opportunity. Now that I am out of the mil I can focus more on my family, living life and of course my geeky addiction.
Its been a fun road to now. I started out with my first Android phone the HTC Droid Eris. I enjoyed the works of many great devs and learned so much while using there Rom's. workshed, Tazzpatriot, condemned soul, conap, gnarlic man the list goes on... These guys are really who got me interested in developing and everything else. With there help a did a little theming for the Eris. It was mostly just minor stuff for Cm. As time past I eventually moved on to the HTC Droid Incredible. I've been here since March. I started out again doing some theming then I moved up to my DTR's (BUNKER BUSTER DTR and yes since I'm retired U.S Army thats why it is named something militaryish). Its a fun little project and its also my way of sticking it to the man, lol. Now most of my focus goes to my Roms. I have Pure Speed which is my first and my baby. I'm so proud of that rom. I also have Hybrid Speed, Sub Sonic and my latest my first ever 3.0 rom Pure Shooter.
All in all this Inc community has taught me so much and showed me a whole new world I never knew existed. We have good support, good people and great devs here. My time spent here is now just keeping my work updated and trying to help out as much as I can.
Anyways, enough with me blabbering on... Lets hear about you!

Well its just that here recently we've had a mass of new users show for whatever reason so guess now is better than never.
Seriously, I got mine in march of this year with phones surrounding the dinc that supposedly had better tech and have not looked back since. When my contract is up in two years, there will be some serious advancements in phone tech.

Well i actually just recently got my incredible last month because i smashed my iphone 4(walls and apples don't mix). In the last 2 months I've done more on my phone than development wise than ever thought possible now I'm hooked.

Hi Don me too, lol. BTW what are you doing in here old timer? Just kidding.
New Guy
Retired Navy with 30 years in Subs. (Missile Technician)
I used this forum to root the other day.
This site seems to be used as a reference for others so I went to the source.
I rooted to the CM7 and the new radio that came out with gingerbread.
After going through the rooting process I am ready not to go through the setup again. TB kept force closing after each app install(took a long time) I'll wait for awhile and let the guru's play with the new GB and see what develops.
I am Ryan, been here since day 1. The root process was crazy involved then... Memories! But I got it, after three days of trying after work! I try to help here from my experiences I've had with my Inc. I've rooted my girl's Desire, my Xoom, and this week my buddy's Inc is getting the business!
I've done some minor tweaking of existing code, but haven't done any ROM creating/modding. I've made themes for myself, so I understand how to replace/edit/create draw 9 PNG's and replacing other files in APKs. I've become pretty good with GIMP, but have never created images from scratch.
Other than that, I'm a smart ass, like to golf, and am currently moving in with my girl. I've met really cool people in these forums, who I continue to talk with via Twitter or Gtalk.
Looking forward to helping anyone out, and meeting new/existing DInc owners.

anyway..
Hi!
My name is Paul I've had my phone since November of last year, but only later decided I wanted to try this rooting shenanigans in January. I was again slow to switch from sense over to AOSP, but now since I've done all that I really love my phone and even now I just figured out there's a whole mess more you can do with widgetlocker and other theming apps.

I've recently found a really cool site for android theming:
http://mycolorscreen.com/category/android/
Some of the stuff on there I had no idea you could even do, it's amazing.
I think there'll probably be more user who've had their Dinc for a while rather than newer users BUT ANYWAYS.... Well my name's Antonio and I'm 17. I'm hoping to go to either Princeton or Boston University and become an Anesthesiologist. The Dinc is my first smartphone and I got it in September 2010, but didn't root until sometime around December. I had no idea what root was, I found out more about it when Gingerbread first came out and builds started coming out for the Dinc. I began to do some research and I found Xda, but I didn't become a member until March of this year. I have since then become a flashaholic and the longest continous time I've had a ROM has been Pure Shooter for two weeks so far.... Do we get a gold star for this? Lol

Well I'm not new, but I figured I'd chime in a bit!
Hi all! I'm Bob and I'm a college student with a major in Computer Science and minor in Information Systems. The HTC Incredible is my first smartphone, and since I got it on launch week, I've been hooked! I was pretty active on Android Forums, helping people out and whatnot but I finally decided to make XDA my permanent home.
I've recently begun developing apps for Android just as a fun side project. I have not made a ROM yet, but I have been heavily debating it. I think I'll give it a try when the real Gingerbread OTA comes out, but we'll see since I'll be busy with school starting back up AND work in a few days...
I try to help people out because this is a community. I try to give feedback as much as possible and like to point people in the right direction if ever needed. I am a bit of a ROM flashing addict and even the ROMs that I don't try, I at least read about and get familiarized with! The Inc community is seriously awesome, and we've only gotten better as a whole. Thanks to the devs and to all the members for making my hobby even more enjoyable!
cool idea; you know, i've always wondered about a lot of us here..we always talk phones and whatnot, but we dunno anything about eachother lol
well i'm jay (clearly lol) and i'm from the shore of NJ, born and raised (not to be affiliated with that dirtbag trash on that bull**** TV show, sigh.) i'm 24, i've got my bachelors from rutgers university and my masters from monmouth..unfortunately, since our wonderful government is utter **** right now, the fact that my degrees deal with getting a job in the state/federal government realm isn't helping whatsoever, as I can't land a gov job for the life of me...so i currently work for a small family-owned Verizon store that sells vzw phones, accessories and FiOS. besides that, i'm a musician of 11 years (bass, guitar, drums) and i play bass in a band.
as for my wonderful android journey, it only began in may of 2010 when my buddy sold me his htc eris for 20 bucks when he got his dinc on release day in the mail in april. he told me it'd be fine for me since it was my first smartphone, but he was sick of it already (had it for like 4 months lol) and that it was super laggy to him, so he got the dinc. well, the eris lasted me barely 3 months..even after rooting it and upping my processor speed with setcpu, the thing was still super laggy and the typing lag was atrocious..
so i was one of the people who ordered the Dinc during the Great Amoled Shortage of '10 hahah...ordered it early July, and got it on July 29th...kept it stock for a while, thought the phone was AMAZXING bc there was no typing lag etc...and then that damn Froyo OTA hit, and my phone just started crapping out. typing lag was about as bad as it was on the eris after that OTA, and i almost threw this phone so many times. so finally, in january of '11 i rooted...put on lou's redemptive revolution, still had keyboard lag, and was just super angry.
then i saw Z roms come about, and my lag was finally gone, and i've been playing with new roms ever since. so yeah, safe to say i've easily had this phone for a year and have no intentions on upgrading anytime soon! haha
whoa, that was a book! but whatever. i love my inc, and after just installing synergy again and the Warm theme for the first time, it's bringing me back to my early days of rooting when my first Z rom was warm z two.point.two!! ahh nostalgia.
I'm somewhat new here, due to my recent activity. But I recently got hold of an Incredible after my Droid A855 had growing digitizer issues. I haven't looked back because I really grew to like the device because it's extremely light (sometimes a little too light for comfort), and it's been smooth as melted butter. I'm currently running gingerbread inc deck 1.2b beta on my rooted Incredible. For what I consider(ed) a stop gap device, I'll be hard pressed to find a 4G phone I'll like enough to use my upgrade from VZW..
Another march guy. My name is cameron. I'm 17, currently jobless, have way too much on my plate for a 17 year old, and have the best girlfriend and family I could ask for.
The job field I want to get into its automotive. I've been tearing apart 350 small blocks, 429 big blocks, honda engines, and everything in between since I could walk.
I'm an admitted crackflasher (flashed every rom in the dev section at least once) I was introduced to android when I got a motorola defy for christmas (it blew)
One day I eventually wanna have a family of my own with this girl right here.

The GPS on my phone stopped working yesterday and since I use the GPS to track my runs daily (among other uses) it was a deal breaker for me and I swapped out my beloved Evo 4g. I went in looking to buy a galaxy nexus but apparently the stores (Verizon or best buy stores) are no longer carrying it due to hardware problems (first I heard of it) so I was offered a GSIII for $150 on Verizon. I took it, crossed my fingers and said a prayer that hopefully the dev support community for the GSIII can be HALF what it is on the Evo.
I wanted to start this thread to send a shoutout and a thank you to all the devs and users who made the evo the most badass phone I have ever used.
First, TEAM D.I.R.T...The evo has always been fun but the last 3 or 4 months you guys have managed to make it insanely fun. I went from flashing a new rom once or twice a month to 3 or 4 times a week because of you guys. To JaimeG & Rope (for the most stable non-sense rom I have ever used), Mazda (for his mad porting skills), Digital Karma (for the fastest sense rom have ever used), PapaSmurf (Do I need to say why?) and the rest THANK YOU!
HipKat for the ultimate guide, OneOfTheRabble for the the crazy sbc charging research, MBQSniper, cityneversleepz, & death-by-soap for always being quick to answer a question.
Mediatech1 for letting me troubleshoot your phone
Smelkus...Again, do I need to say why?
There are others but this is already too long. Again thank you to all the users and devs on here for keeping this phone fun and exciting 2 years later.
Now to all the dev's I mentioned above:
Please please please get a GSIII and start working your magic over there!

It's a pretty killer phone. Leaving the evo was bittersweet but after 2 hours of playing with the GSIII I have it rooted with a custom recovery and got google wallet up and running. awwww yea!
Glad to be able to contribute and make things fun Relentless D!
You might see me over there soon....not really sure what I'm going to do
I've been going back/forward between the SG3 and the GNEX....one has great hardware and one has great support by both the developers here at XDA and Google....Might make a last minute decision and just stick with it!

The dev support on the SG3 isn't too great right now, but with them I've already got wallet up and running and all that fun stuff.
The one crappy thing about verizon (ok, ONE of the crappy things) is Google voice integration. I have relied so heavily on GV on my evo but according to them I need to port my number to GV ($20) and use it for calls. Screw that, I just want the VM.
