Didn't see a megathread for the Froyo release I'm on, but I have the HD2 release from August 18th.
Problems:
1. Screen backlight will turn on, backlight to buttons comes on, but no image is displayed.
2. Screen almost totally stops responding, when it does it's acting as if I'm holding down on something. I try and turn off the screen, and it takes a few minutes to turn off.
Solutions? Don't know. I tried hard resetting, but that doesn't do anything. I'm using the suggested Miri ROM. I tried Energyrom, that didn't do anything different.
I have exactly the same problems..

1. It's a common problem. Try latest builds and you could have a fastest response during wake up...but the problem persist.
2. It's a problem caused by G-Sensor. Try disabling Auto Rotation and probably this problem go away.
P.s.: Next time read some post. It's a problem already know and posted

I did. And I'll try what you said.
So yeah that didn't fix it. And just now it randomly rebooted itself.
everybody has had these issues and got passed them the fact you say you couldnt find it lets us know you didnt search to well
I've done what people have suggested and had no results. I have searched for a good half hour, using the search feature. Perhaps you could link me to a resolved thread someone posted with the same problem? That'd be helpful. I'm not trying to aggregate anything here, I just want to be able to use this.
You don't disable the g sensor by disableing the auto rotate. Try using a kernal with the g sensor disabled. Its around here somewhere.

Don't I have to start from scratch if I do that?
Haven't been able to find decent solutions to this slow wake up problem. I disabled auto-rotate, and am running the latest shubcraft (1.5).
I would appreciate a helpful link too!
This isn't a slow wake up problem...
Take a look at the how to disable g sensor thread. I used the gscript route and I'm loving it. No screen freezes at all. There's no auto rotate either but with to clicks I can enable or disable it.

same problem
i got the same problem with my phone. after flashing two diff roms Kumar Premium and Miri's i still get SOD. what did you guys do to fix this?
I've disabled the G-Sensor using GScript but I'm still having lag before the screen wakes up (sometimes 10 seconds or more), too!
Any other fixes/patches?
Running Miri's ROM + FroyoStone v2 with Sense on a T-Mobile HD2.

Link? Can't find it.
Disabling the g-sensor does not fix the problem. I used the gsript "trick" with renaming the folder and killing a process. Didn't help.
Help me with this, somebody!
Bump......
When you first start up Android it needs some time to initialise. My experience is that when you wait like 5 minutes after Android has booted the SOD's hardly occur and if occur it will wake up after you'll try a few times.
So... Let it boot and leave it alone for five minutes or so?
Again, I disabled the gsensor with Gscript lite.
That's what works for me. I'm using andriod for Desire HD and I'm using it daily.
okay so i've used the phiremod skinnyEVO1.5 and Mdeejay eVo Sense Stock and i've had the same problem with both. Whenever i make a phonecall/receive a phonecall, as soon as the person and i end the call my phone goes completely unresponsive. the screen goes completely black, and none of the hardware keys light up
the only thing ive found that can get the phone to come back 'to life' so the speak is to call the phone again and end the call on my phone with the end button.this doesnt always work though.
im running the Chunkydroidrom in WM and have radio 2_12_50_02
i even updated the kernel on the Mdeejay build and it still happens
is there anything that can be done to fix this?
please help me guys
different build, but same issue, nexus one by ummmmmmmmm matc forget which version. radio 2.15, wm chunky gtx sense with that CHT 2.0 i think..................
so far our windows mobile rom is the same cook, could be where to start im about to change my winmo rom
i just changed my windows mobile rom to ozdroid and im still having the same problem, and when i use the included bootloader i get robotic/froggy sounds in phone calls. maybe its not running clrcad correctly so ill try it the old fashioned way and see what happens
please
bump
can someone pleasee help?
good luck in finding help. Ive had some of the same issues i believe. My phone will completely freeze during a call for now apparent reason. it'll working fine in the call in the just freeze during my call. I tried different winmo roms that are suggested for droid builds. i believe i tried every radio available for tmo and about every build of driod and the problem is still there. It may run fine for a day then it starts freezing. I've posted a question about this yesterday and 97 people have viewed it and one person suggested i return the phone. I don't believe that its a hardware issue, more like a software issue. I guess i better learn how to pull the logs and then i may get a reply. i just haven't found a place that it explains it well enough for me to do it myself. My persistence will prevail though, cause I'm addicted.
Well please if you ever figure it out please let me know as this can get quite annoying

Disable Auto-Rotate in the Settings>Display.
See if that helps.
I had the same problem. I have Advanced Task Killer installed and it was set to kill apps on screen off. I turned off the option to kill apps on screen off and so far it solved my phone call = unresponsive phone.
I have theese issues only if i have certain call recorder softwares installed .. try uninstalling them , and if nothing helps delete ur data.img and do a fresh start(u can back it up tho if it prooves unusefull)
@souljaboy
what exactly do you mean by certain call recorder softwares installed? such as which ones?
@JonSolo
i disabled auto rotate and i still experienced the problem during phonee calls
@mike91t
i changed my auto kill to every 4 hours, so i'll let you know what happens with that over the course of the week
Same problem here, I've turned off screen autorotate, and I don't have any task killers installed. Everything works fine, and even a call or two, then it stops working and audio during calls doesn't work, and phone app becomes unresponsive.
have you tried a different radio rom?! maye 2.14 will help.

well i waws thinking about changing to 2.14 but the android build im using recommends certain roms for best performance so i was going to keep using the radio rom and see if anything improved, so far i dont really think its working, so i might change to 2.14 because people seem to be having the less problems with it
My phone has been doing this for 2 or 3 days now. When I accept an incoming call, the phone automatically enters speakerphone mode.
When a BT headset is connected, it is fine.
Anyone got a clue why it is doing this? I havenet installed any apps which should have this effect.
RTR
Been looking into this all night, with no luck. Has anyone seen this before?
Not had any calls come in on mine yet so can't comment on whether I am affected. I would have thought it would be well known about though if it was widespread.
Are you using stock rom? Tried re-flashing the RUU?
Had this to you need to make someone call you and keep trying with the button to switch between speaker or ear and eventually i got it right! Hold it against your ear then remove it and try button again thats how i did it!

Same here with that issue ever since those new updates started
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Mine too but it hardly ever does it now. A sensor tries to detect how your phone is positioned and switches to speaker. It seems to go away on the stock rom, so persevere on the stock rom. It all worked out for me eventually. Word of advice though, DISABLE SENSE until it's ready. It makes your contact icons in messages disappear. Htc always releases questionable software which should be described as beta. If you use bluetooth for music, stick with stock for now. Yadda yadda. All in all, the dhd. Rules. Oh ya, anyone know how the htc hd2 rund witb android 2.2. I saw lots of great deals on ebay to buy a broken one and fix tbe software to run android. I just want a new toy really.

I had this for a while - turned out to be an iffy setting in my profile manager/switcher (phoneweaver). Are you using anything like that?
FIXED: Oh my word, how simple was this...
Should have said, I'm on stock everything as I have a poor track record with having to send stuff back to manufacturers to be fixed.
After spending all night looking for a solution, and trying a couple of things found on other forums (install phonespeaker app and turn it off in that - doesn't work BTW), I decided this morning to remove the possibility that the phone had simply got its panties in a bunch, switched it off properly and removed the battery. 10 minutes of being denied a power source has cured it. Most bizarre.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.

A new problem has started for me and and a Google search has shown some other people have also mentioned in but no solutions have come up.
Since iv started using any Android 2. 3. 7 roms around 1once a day to once a couple of days answering a call causes phone app to freeze and the phone speaker makes a constant buzz sound that eventually stops. After the phone signal and 3g returns all is well but trying to make a call result in a full phone freeze wich needs a battery pull. Best thing I do now after this crash is reboot normally.
Also good thing is the call is not answered as far as the carrier is concerned so I can still follow up on the call with voicemail.
I'm considering I have to go back to an older nexushd2 Rom or some sense Rom wich usually has Android 2. 3. 5
Anyone know a way to fix it? Maybe flash an Android 2. 3. 6 apk or a modded libaudio ?
I had that happening to my old phone.... freezing, buzzing, battery pull.
It started happening after I overclocked the phone to 1.5ghz . And then just kept happening even when i stopped overclocking. The phone would be hot on the bottom. And sometimes wouldnt boot till it cooled off. All i can say is hopefully you have insurance bc if its anything like with mine it'll be happening more and more often with time. After 3 months of it, it was happening a couple times a day , till i got a replacement.

This is related to the No Sound bug alright. What other apps do you have - SIP/ Viber/ any other VoIP? And do you use BT? There were a few post in the No Sound thread and Tytung's kernel thread few days back about what libaudio.so works fine for what kind of a usage.
Android 2.3.7 is just a coincidence, me thinks

I had a similar issue some time ago: for me the problem was the cpu/governor settings and i fix it with an appropriate SetCPU profile. Using another rom though.
Try to set an "in call" profile as the phone won'to go under 400 Mhz (roughly) and see if it happen again.
mi too
i using miu rom, HD2 NDT GINGER and recovery 3.0.2.4 with this i don have this problem. with any sense rom I have that problem
Sorry my bad english
I bought S4 2 months ago. Recently, it keep restarting and restarting. The battery go down from 50% to 0% when it restart. Anyone know how to fix this issue ?
Same thing over here
My S4 acted that way also.
It happened when I took burst pictures and then touch the little photo icon in the corner to see the captured images.
The phone restarted at 0% battery and got into restart loop.
Only removing the battery for a few seconds could stop this loop.
Now, I reinstalled a new ROM.
Hope it works.
Try install new recovery+ROM
There are many ways to try to fix this issue start from the least expensive :
- disconnect wireless
- remove sd card
- remove the battery and the sim card and reinsert them
- check if your battery is swollen and replace it if so
- try a factory reset
- if you have a custom rom try stock rom
good luck

- already did, twice.
- I havent touched anything about ROM.

Getting the same-ish problems. Phone is rebooting like mad, doesn't matter what ROM I have installed at all. Not sure if it's an issue with my battery but it seems that it could be a voltage/current issue that causes the phone to die for just long enough. As everyone knows if you pull the battery out whilst the phone is on, then put it back in after a second or two, the phone tries to reboot without you ever having pressed the power button
I just got 2 new batteries. Gotta wait about a week for them to come. Gonna do some testing, see if it stops the issues. If not, then it's a hardware issue and I'm gonna see if I can get it replaced under warranty.
How to use logcat
My problem seems to be different compared to the others in this thread, but don't want to start a new thread. Currently my S4 is lying in the office all week, because I use another phone, when I am outside of the office. It's equiped with pre-rooted MGA, but I also tried various other ROM's, with different ways of flashing e.g. CWM, Odin etc. also no wipe/full wipe. The problem is that as soon, as I take the phone away from the office, I have several restarts a day, which is never happen in the office. This is strange!
My thoughts are, that some app is responsible.
questions:
- can I find out in using logcat? / How to use logcat?
- There is a description to boot the phone into safe mode http://skp.samsungcsportal.com/integrated/popup/FaqDetailPopup3.jsp?cdsite=my&seq=871239. It's not working for me. Has anybody tried that?
- Any other ideas?

I believe that goes in the right direction, but turning off GPS did not help. But I think it must have to do with location, sometimes it is stable the whole day (same as in the office) sometimes 2-3 reboots, one after the other.
Must be an app, but how to find?
