Hi everyone I hope this has not been posted before but I just found out the Kindle fire does work when connected to an Xbox 360. I was able to browse and play several mp4 movie files and the thing works perfectly!!!!

Works as a removable storage device?

[Q] Does kindle support these?

I know the kindle only gives you what? 1gb of your "own" space in it but i was wondering can you load PDF on it? CBZ/CBR? or do you pretty much have to load whatever you buy from amazon on it?
It gives you 5GB of local storage, reads PDFs fine, and can be sideloaded with most Android apps if they don't rely on phone, gps, camera, etc.

Cbr and Cbz files are read easily on comicrack, I read a lot of comics on my fire and its my preferred software.

Storage also is not an issue, upload your files to box or dropbox and download when needed.

Is this right out of the box? no rooting or anything? is it an amazon app i dl? one of the biggest reasons i want one is because of comics/books and the panel by panel viewing on kindle is why i want it so bad, does this comicrack do the same?

Not a big tech savvy person i have no idea what a box or dropbox means.
Go check out http://comicrack.cyolito.com/
There is a android version which works fine on the Kindle, you can download and move the free version to a folder your Kindle and install.
I was reading up on the dropbox and stuff is there a way of putting pdfs etc. on the fire without an android phone? i don't have an android phone.
You can copy them across to the documents folder with a USB cable or setup dropbox on your PC and put them in the shared folder and then download them on the Kindle through Wi-Fi.
Netflix works fine.

Thank you! I've been lazily looking for a CBR/CBZ reader for my Fire. This one works great. This device just gets better and better

I've been using the Netflix app for a few days and I'm very impressed with it.

I also second the Comicrack. I tried a few that I had tried initially with my galaxy s. Obviously screen was too small to really enjoy. When I tried those same ones on the Fire, it was ok. JJ comix spams you to purchase it after every tap practically, even in the settings and preferences before you start reading anything.
Android comic viewer was ok, but I like to hold it landscape and set to fit width. This one kept randomly changing that even though I had it set to fit width.
I saw comicrack had a droid version, which i used on PC before, and its been great.
I havent tried the part/panel feature yet. Just setting to fit width is great. I set top left/right to next page, bottom left/right to previous so regardless which hand I hold, same function. Only time I zoom is if its a 2 page spread and depending you don't need to zoom since the res is so nice.
For reference, and not exaggerating, 95% of my Fire has been messing with comics. I loaded one book up to see if it worked, and 1 video. No music.
Got me a nice 26gb marvel pack.
You can email pdf's to your device at (yourusername)@kindle.com

App to stream videos from networked hard drive?

On my iPad I used an app called Air Video <http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/air-video-watch-your-videos/id306550020?mt=8> to stream videos from a hard drive on my wireless network. I would like to do the same on my Nexus 7. Does anyone know a good app to do that? I searched the Play store but wasn't able to find any.
You can try fs explorer if its a share drive.
BSPlayer

I think he mean't FX explorer.
I'm not sure how to exactly do this, I have a HDD plugged into my router, how do I go about finding it now? Any help would be great thanks!

I tried ES File Explorer and that seems to work for Windows SMB network shares.
Just open the app, click the top left and Local to LAN. Then click the Search icon and it will find your computer on the network. Then just pick the file and open it with your preferred video player. The quality for my SD videos seems very blocky. I don't know if that's normal or not since I'm too lazy to put a file onto the internal memory to test, but it works. 1080p videos don't really play though and I haven't tried 720p. I might try some other apps later on.
ES File Explorer + MX Video Player. Works great. Rumor has it that an update to Solid Explorer is coming out soon that supports SMB share streaming.
I have tried a bunch of apps to stream from my Usb Hard Drive which is connected to my Netgear Router, but I have had no joy!
Anyone else using one of these routers and having any joy?

Yes I am using a netgear router also n600 to be exact. I have had no luck so far, I think I am missing some settings that I need to change still.

Plex worked for me.
http://www.plexapp.com/
Both of these stream from my WD Live TV Hub, not sure if they will work from a networked hard drive, probably will as long as there is some kind of DLNA/UPNP server on the NAS. I use these in conjunction with Dice player, which seems to play any codec up to 720p.
UPNPlay
Media House
I'm using VPlayer on the Nexus and I've installed TVMOBiLi on my mac.
I seriously don't get how to do this whole streaming thing, I don't have a server at home but I did plug in my portable hdd to my router and im not sure how to get it streaming to my N7. Any help would be great!

XBMC works like a champ with PS3 Media Server installed on the computer. Able to stream 720p mkvs with subtitles to the N7 without any issues or stuttering
So I tried out BSPlayer and found it very easy to connect to my Windows 7 smb network shares. I liked it so much I used some of my credit to buy it.
It does get crashy, especially if you have a lot of LAN videos in your Recently Played, etc Playlists, but I don't use those anyway. The video seems much better quality than using ES File Explorer and MXPlayer/VPlayer. Load times and seek times are super quick with just BSPlayer too. The gestures for the interface aren't really useful to me, but they said they will probably have an option to disable it in a future update.
Anyone willing to connect with me via teamviewer to set it up to make it possible for me to stream my videos from my portable hdd that is on my router?

I spent some of the $25 google gave me on some play store stuff including, plex, bubbleUpnp, and already had imediashare. For rendering i've got n7, galaxy nexus and an un55d7050 tv. Media players include vlc, mx player, and weeded out a couple that I didn't have much luck with.
What works best for me, the easiest, and least amount of dicking around is a combination of MX Player and BubbleUpnp. I'm streaming from an NAS on my home lan and everythig else is visible on the lan.
To make this work you'll have to screw around with handbreak (or at least I had to) to figure out what codec works best depending on what your streaming and to which renderer.
Good Luck!
Edit/ Twonky Media Server works really good as well, installed to my NAS......Yup, everything these days is pretty much dlna capable.

Game stop blue tooth wireless controller

As an FYI this works great with the Fire HD. Works on Asphault 7 if you choose the onscreen control option. Also works with my side loaded games.
Games that work-
Asphalt 7
Shadow Gun
Sonic
Sleepy Jack
Rip tide
Dead Trigger
Overkill-flies the ship but you still have to use the onscreen weapons like the missles. You have to select the keyboard option under controls.
Shinerunner
Rtype
Max Payne
Grand Theft Auto 3
Games that don't
Prince of Persia-only moves the character, can't jump, etc
SAS3:Zombie Assault
Xmen(bummer)
Gun Zombie:Hell Gate
GunShip 2
AirAttack HD
Age of Zombies

I tried my OTG usb cable and it didn't work on my Fire. Mine is not rooted which may be why. I'm going to update the first post with what games work and which ones don't. I wonder if I buy the six axxis app if it will allow me to map the buttons on the gamestop controller?
has anyone had any luck getting a wii remote connected for games? I've tried a few bluetooth controller apps, but they require you to change the keyboard on the kindle which amazon doesn't let you do.

Awesome stuff, man. Do you know if your controller works with the OnLive app on the Kindle Fire HD? If you don't know what OnLive is, it's a cloud gaming service that you can grab the APK for right on this site. If this controller works with the OnLive app, it's my next buy.

Stream videos to Xbox 360

Hi on my galaxy s3 video player there is an option to stream any videos playing on the phone to my Xbox. I assume it does this using DNLA. Does any one know if there are any apps that will do the same on my nexus?
Thanks
Steve

Thanks. I'll give it a try
I've installed bubbleupnp but for some reason I can't get it to find my Xbox.
