It's simple, just rename MarketIntentProxy.apk to another name,
ex:
# cd /system/app
# mv MarketIntentProxy.apk MarketIntentProxy.apk.bak

whoever root their kindle fire, can u copy from /data/app - netflix and hulu app and email it to me alexus gmail
thanks
Are you asking for the .apk files for those apps? Those apps are free at the Amazon AppStore, so you don't need to be rooted to get them.

What's wrong with your app store? If you can't use your AppStore, Google the apps and sideload them. I'm pretty sure they won't be hard to find since they are free.

Amazon AppStore automatically deletes those .apk files once it installes the app. Also the Marketplace does not show these apps so this is the best I can do.

I enjoy reading on my CM7 NC Kindle app. I use the dictionary often. Can the function of word look-up be accessed outside the Kindle app?
Sent from my NookColor using xda premium
Do you mean any dictionary?
There is an app with a downloadable dictionary on the play store
Sent from my NookColor using xda app-developers app
Sure enough.

I believe the new Kindle app uses an external dictionary app, Websters dictionary. Should be able to now.

Are you rooted? (Or willing to root your device?)
Apps like Google maps have a dependency on frameworks not included with the stock OS
I am rooted

Rooted today using the Qemu method.
I am not showing any widgets or system widgets. Anyone know why this would be happening?
UPDATE 4/16/13
I have widgets again
For anyone having an issue with no system widgets - - I don't have a fix but an experience that may help you, should you have a similar issue. I tried GoLauncher and ADW Launcher and had no widgets. When I used Apex Launcher I had the ability to use widgets again. Maybe its a launcher compatability issue with certain Amazon versions when you root? I dont know the answer as to why I didn't have them in the first place. But try a few different launchers and something may work out.

AppWidgetPicker.apk
Try this one http://db.tt/ET1YivMr
This is a Kinology HD using XDA Premium
Phillyflyer requires first a launcher, and Prokennexusa wrote a nice tuto about that:

I am looking for a way to block porn on my son's evo. It is rooted and I just wanted to put a hosts file in place so he won't know until he tries.

Install Ad Away, have it apply the hosts file, and then simply uninstall the app

Maybe probably. Try it out, or look up a hosts file for android that does.
Adfree does block porn if you select that option. It is available from playstore.

Not anymore, Google pulled all ad blocking apps a while ago.
App can be found online though.
Well that just goes to show how much I use the play store. I keep most of my apps locally since I change roms more often than a child being potty trained changes underwear.

AdAway can be safely installed from the F-droid.org repository. AdFree can be downloaded from the developers website with a quick Google search.
If you can't find either, PM me and I'll give you a link to the AdFree APK in my Box account.
Once you have the hosts file in place, you should be able to manually add porn sites that you want to block, if there isn't already an option to block them from the app.
