Media volume work around for ICS - Nexus S General

Alright guys so thanks to Android Police, I stumbled across an app that actually is very useful for our phone running ICS. I'm sure a lot of you guys get ticked off trying to turn up or down your music while doing something else. And I'm sure you all found out it doesn't work unless you are in the app itself or go to settings. Well an app call Volume in Notification is made for 3.0+ tablets but I found it works great for ICS. It puts a toggle in the notification tray to easily access media volume. It sure helped me out so I figured I'd share with everyone.

Control Music Player from locked screen like the I-Phone

Hi Guys,
Anyone ran into an app that let you control the (running) music player from the locked screen like the I-Phone does it? (back / pause / fwd)
I tried the app Lock2.0 but don't like it because its just a work around the actual problem, with way to much other BS. I think you will need root access in order to implement it properly (might be wrong)
Thanks for the help.
If I could write a app that would be the first thing I would try
The new CyanogenMod ROM have option where you can long press volume keys to control the music player. Pretty nifty.

What version? I updated yesterday to the latest version of CyanogenMod ROM and I tried your suggestion but can not get it working from the locked screen.
Do you have to activate it some where?
Thanks

No settings have to be changed. Just have to long press. You can't pause (that I know of), but next and previous track work.

[Q] Vanilla lockscreen variation?

Hey all,
I'm sure several of us are running ROMs which offer the vanilla lockscreen like below:

"lightbox_close": "Close",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Above, we can see the icon represents the 'silent' function.
However, I have seen other lockscreens whereby the icon on the right hand side has been changed to someting else, for example: Vibrate Only [which is what I'm after], or launch Music Player, etc.
Anyone know how it's done?
I've been searching for that too, to change the silent button into vibrate but I haven't found anything yet
I hope someone can help us to change that
I think widgetlocker can do that
I'd rather change it without using another app, like changing something in the lockscreen code
I think it has to be changed in the android.policy.jar file since the fix for the lockscreen is coded inthere , but I don't know where and what I would have to change since I don't know much about the android coding

Sorry to disappoint, I found that screen in either one of these threads, both are a 'post your homescreen' type thread:
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=476483
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=665991&page=152
I can't remember which page, sorry. But it will have been in the most recent 15 pages of either thread.
so, i have found from where the screenshot came from.
It's from a member who runs a Froyd Villain rom on his hero and the rom is android 2.2
Now, turns out that in android 2.2 this is default the sliding to vibrate instead of silent (tested it out on the android emulator)
I have downloaded a 2.2 rom version and now I will try to find the differences between the 2.1 an 2.2 lockscreen files and hope I will be able to change it
^ thats pretty good going, nice one! I didn't know it was standard in Android 2.2.

[App] Keep your Android screen on, with ScreenOn app

Hello guys,
I recently updated my ScreenOn application to a far more stable version, an app that allows you to automatically keep the screen from turning off when specific apps are running. I find it very useful, in fact a friend of mine asked me if there is a way to do it, so I build this app!
It has also support for keeping the screen on at phone calls and on charge,
I know the app design is not great, but it is simple and clean.
The logo needs a great redesign, a friend of mine is working on it.
Any suggestions / ideas?

Not to burst your bubble, but there is a more mature app on the market called Screebl. Give it look: http://bit.ly/ipmwXn
Keep plugging, though and good luck.
well, Screebl keeps the screen on too, but the usage and the whole functionality is completely different.
Screebl understands when you are using your phone only by detecting the orientation.
ScreenOn does notice if you even keep your phone in a specific angle. It does care if you are running a specific app and you want to keep the screen on.
Many of the users find it very useful when reading a webpage, or using the google maps.
We all benefit from choices.
As an android user, I couldn't agree more
We now have better logo!
Check it out here and tell us what do your thoughts:
This is a great great app !! It was just what I was looking for
Thanks for your work Dev !!! Greatly appreciated
Always nice to hear
It's so great. It's what I need.

Tasker does the same thing with much more options

Is it possible to ad an option to set the screen on mini brightness ?
An other app called "keepscreenon" have this option, then the screen switchs to mini brightness without switch off. but it doesn't work well on ICS
TIA
Then you should try another application we have created, the AppAutoSettings!

How to disable volume warning

I have poked around in system root attempting to find the file that triggers the volume warning without any success so I have come here to ask for help. If anyone knows how to disable this annoying warning please tell me. I cant express to you how much this warning bothers me! If you don't know what I'm talking about I have attached a couple of photos below.

This doesn't trigger with me. You on stock?
I used to get that when using Pandora, but it seems to have gone away (don't know when). Never even thought about it until I saw this thread.
I'm stock/rooted/Shabby kernel. I remove lots of apks before flashing, there must be one that handles those messages.
Does it only happen with headphones plugged in? Maybe that's why I don't see the message, been listening through the speaker recently.
Headphone Jack Plugged-In
I can confirm that this only happens when something is connected to the headphone jack. In my case I am playing through my vehicles audio system. I would most definitely like a mod to disable it.
Bump...I'm trying to find a solution for this too.

It is a mod, have you tried custom roms rather than stock? Most of the custom roms have that mod.

Nottach xposed has the option to disable this. Just a simple apk file that has all sorts of cool things.

This is the link for the Mod. I installed v12 (the latest and last version) and it works perfectly on the Sprint phones. The Mod is made for AT&T phones but works fine on Sprint. It's easy to install...just two apk's (one for the Framework and one for the Mod). Plus there are a ton of other customizable options in the Mod which are very useful.
I installed the Mod mainly for the galactically-stupid volume warning but am using many of its other features now. It sure has made the stock ROM a lot more user friendly.
BTW, I haven't installed the MF9 update and am still on MDL.
You can also use this Mod. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44390237#post44390237

[Q] WiFi and/or 3G Toggles in Power Menu

Hello fellows,
I'm asking to you if exists any mod for Nexus 4 which could extend the power menu to include some additional toggles, like WiFi, Mobile Data, Bluetooth and such. I've already searched here on xda without success. I'm on CM 10.1 and I see there is the possibility to edit that menu, like they added Profiles and Extended desktop entries. As example I'm attaching the modded extended power menu of a Galaxy S3.
Thank you for your attention.

AFAIK I've never seen any non-touchwiz rom do that. I've been with android since the donut phase and i've never seen anything like that.
Perhaps you could take up the task and code it

Look in Apps and Themes for all mods http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1913. Plenty of toggle apps available though.

Thanks, but I've referred only to Power Menu toggles, not some widget or notification area ones
