Sorry if this is blatantly obvious.
But since the Vega has cm support, does that mean it will be getting ICS support from CM devs?
That would be awesome!
If that's the case, I will shell out and buy it soon!!!

I'd assume so. However, you never know what difficulties, if any, will be encountered in porting the drivers. I'd assume you're safe since the Vega, and its Malata and Viewsonic variants, are quite popular.
Nvidia will release ICS drivers for the tegra2
But when will they be ready is the real question.
I just installed ics on my Pov mobii, does it already include tegra2 acceleration?
SD content playpack works fine, but HD playback does not work.
The camera and the microphone are not woorking either.
But the whole system is damn fast
Waiting for the first beta release ....
not hardware accelerated video playback is available yet.
Cass(developer of VegaICS) solved camera issue but didn't release an update yet.

Can we still expect that the CM team are working on it?
They never released a stable CM7...

Will this be even remotely possible?

Not really. Something could probably be hacked together similar to what was done to the Honeycomb SDK, but until we get HC/ICS source code its going to be very lacking.
better off waiting for ICS source code to be released. porting anything honeycomb is not gonna work
From what I gather, it wont help because its tegra based, so the drivers and acceleration are desinged around a different CPU and GPU than what's in the NC. From the reviews I read about HC devices, it just seems like HC isn't very well optimized, as even the tegra2 systems can have occasional lag.
Got it. Thanks for the replies guys.

At last excellent stuff looking forward to the ICS CheckRom, should be something else
Let the games begin.
But.... don't we still need the Mali driver? I thought without it, we won't have ICS?

So given that we have ICS source and similar drivers (From HC tablets running the Mali400) there shouldn't be a whole lot in the devs way right?

Steve Kondik said this on G+ on Monday November 21th : https://plus.google.com/100275307499530023476/posts/hVw7ykmsvrx
So the 10.1 will have its official CM9 support as expected...it's good news anyway but it's not to say we'll get ICS that easily.
Our options are two :
- the CM team offers official support to the 10.1v as well. Don't hesitate to mention our device in the G+ post I've linked to.
- we'll get ports from the 10.1 CM9 ROM.
Our device just can't die software so soon...
finger crossed
In fact, we've got this time the kernel of ICS. So the dev doesn't need to build a rom from scratch, like previous.
As you an see on XDA is that there "plenty" of New ICS rom, for example i've got one on mu SGS...
We just need a dev. And the lib for the 8mpx camera.
So cross fingers

Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Well, getting ICS will be late in February/March time (at least that was the timeline given.) However..CM9 is just a totally diff story
A Cyanogenmod developer would have to take up the cause and have access to the device.

The 10.1 will definitely have CM9 support (see today's CM blog post) but how to get an official 10.1v support, I wonder...
Wow... I had no idea this 10.1v model existed and just read up about it. If I had bought one of these I would never purchase a Samsung product again. Officially it was never updated to even HC 3.1 and still runs 3.0.1? WTF?
It's mostly done (and it's awesome), only non-working thing right now is the camera. There is a non-technical issue that needs to be sorted before we can release anything for Tegra2, though.
You're talking about the 10.1v?
If that so, it's a great news... xmas after xmas

it will encompass all builds that the current hc3.2/3.1 kernel supports, with v and 7500 coming slightly later, as i round up testing for those devices once all is ready.

tegra 2 issue
I am a big fan of CM; and think this is what sets Android apart from Apple (infact beats the **** out of Appy...lol)
I am intrigued to ask though; when you say "non-technical" issue - hope this isn't a license/patent kind of issue?
I also heard, there was some issue with the GPU rendering? Is that correct?
Cheers.

Hmm, i own a xoom next to my gt 10.1. is it safe to assume that it will also be supported?
I also saw isi was busy compiling cm9 and working on ICS...

well, the release of the update not really, since it'll only allow for some more wacky ports.
however the source for the Nexus S and the Xoom was also released, (along with a version bump to 4.0.3) which might fix some things.
all in all i think the CM team is workingon it and they didnt get anything that is usefull in making ICS work for our phones, only something that made ICS more stable in genral
Title is self-explanatory.
In my experience, I found that CM9 was much more stable than CM10 - despite both having the same 'Nvidia libs' issue. CM10 also had the issue where mobile data doesn't work.
There are also other niggles, such as flash not being compatible with JB.
However, CM10 is in its very early days, so this could be an unfair comparison. Which leads me to think that maybe CM10 could be better for the long term - as development on CM9 is likely to slow down. I get the impression that CM10 could reach CM9 stability soon and personally, 'project butter' sure seems interesting to me...
What do you think?
Maybe both?? :fingers-crossed:
I vote CM10, I think it'll be a better investment in the long run.
both :good:
Def CM10, even if it's on early stage, that's the way to go, CM9 leads to CM10, and i've read many people saying CM10 is far much smoother than CM9.
(But i can't tell, i'm stuck with CM7 because of you :good
I just hope Motorola will give us ICS in time...
Just my two cents
CM10 would probably be the better way to go, but not until the proper drivers are available. CM7 may be "outdated" (which IMHO is horse****), but it's incredibly stable and reliable, which CM9 and CM10 are not (despite the commendable hard work by joker, turl, epinter and others, who are doing their absolute best with what they have to work with).

I suppose 10. Both have problems. Might as well go with the up to date problem.
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
is it selfish to ask for both? =)
i say cm10.. it just feels like those drivers are right around the corner and that being the case cm10 stability is there too. so may as well start now?
I've voted for CM10. But I'd rather say that for now there is no sense to start developing CM10 or CM9 Neutrino for the lack of libs sources and appropriate kernel version. We already have tons of CM9 and CM10 unofficial mods that don't work in a propper way - problems with camera, UIs, hardware accelaration, etc. So I'd like to advice you to what for official ICS firmware or official version from Cyanogenmod (if it will be) and then start developing and modding in order to work out a stable completely functioning and suitable for everyday use mod unless you able to develop its yourself without official ICS.
In any way thanks for you servey and you Neutrino rom that is really pretty good.

Let's be realistic here, Motorola and Nvidea will not release ICS, nor any drivers.
We all know their reputation better than anybody else.
I think that CM10 is the better

i say cm10 skip cm9. you have a good stable cm7 to hold me over till cm10 no need for baby steps up to latest if its in the works.
While I think it'd be great to see both, I think CM9 would be taking away time that could be spent on improving CM10.
CM10 please.

Of cause CM10. And I think jokersax 's should be the base. All other roms based on it. It is most close (or pure) CM.
