Hold the phone...Nvidia Releasing What?

I know everyone has their targets set on the new Samsung, the Xoom, etc. for a Summer, or maybe now a fall release (due to Google's Honeycomb delay)...but now Nvidia is promising to release the Tegra 3 (Quad Core) Chipsets to be available in devices by August.
Hmmmm....what now Buford? Go for the Tegra 2? Hold out for the Tegra 3? The Tegra 3 is listed as having 2X the processing power and 3X the video crunching power as it's predecessor, the Tegra 2. Sigh!! Well anyway, cant wait to see the 1st Tegra 3 Quad Core devices demo'd by the likes of Samsung, Motorolla, or Asus.

If they have an August release scheduled for the chip, that doesn't mean that you should hold your breath for a device that has it.
I guarantee that you will not see anything with it, even in early stages, until the next CES show after release. Then I still wouldn't recommend holding your breath until something is ready on the consumer market.

Zoom 2 is out. Meh.

No big news really. Pluses: Thinner, lighter, HD display, TI 1.2GHz OMAP processor. Negatives: 16GB only, no 3G, still 3.2. Evolution rather than revolution. It'll be interesting to see how the TI processor does compared to Tegra. I had a Jetstream and the Qualcomm 1.5GHz made the UI seem smoother but it wasn't a real "wow" compared to the G-Tab.

Very surprised that this does not have Tegra 3 chip in it! Had the original Xoom got the Tegra 2?
Cheers,

the tegra 3 chip till now isn't for mass production (only avaliable for the asus prime ) because nvidia have problems in producing big amount of it ( that is why it was delayed several times) . any way all big processor manufacturers are still on dual core processors and wont release quad core before 4-5 monthes at least , so dualcore is still somthing good
Failing in the looks department compared to the GT-75xx and nothing worked up over.
The tegra 3 chip is gonna be sick tho once a tabs start coming out with those. I just got my galaxy 10.1. Def needed to be rooted and rom'd right away. now that i did , so much better.
That thing sure is ugly... lol
Agreed, that back is disgusting

Something that really bothers me about tegra 2 and 3

Well i see lot of games coming for tegra this year
most of them for tegra 3
it really disappoints me
well somepoint iwill get the prime iguess in around 4 months in my birthday but until anyone has an idea if maybe a driver like chainfire could unabla tegra 3 on tegra 2
well iknow its not logic but you know like with chainfire that you can reduce texture quallity
(sorry for my really bad english XD)
well i have no idea what you asked
He wants to know if you can play tegra 3 games on a tegra 2 device.

seems like what he is saying is that a lot of the newer games that have been announced have only been for tegra 3. but take shadowgun for example it was only soposed to be tegra 2 but later was given versions for otehr less powerfull chipsets. so i assue newer games will be announced for tegra 3 but after a month sor so there will be a tegra 2 version so not to worry. also im sure chainfire wil get right on it once more tegra 3 devices and games are out
I am guessing......
....and I could be wrong. That he is hoping that someone can wave a magic wand on all the new "Tegra 3 only" game titles (whatever they may be) and make them compatible with Tegra 2.
I believe, he thinks that Tegra 3 is driver related and not architecture change and therefore unlockable, like reducing the graphics settings on a new game to minimum so it plays on an old graphics card.
Sorry if that is not what you are thinking Hearmeman. Pure assumption on my part. Google "Differences between Tegra 2 and Tegra 3" and you will see it's not just graphics.
Well
about the architecture
i guess you can use qualcomm drivers and mali drivers on tegra 2
i cant any problems with tegra 3
i do know the chipset is changed
iguess chainfire will release a driver that allows that
Hehe, I'm down to 0 game on my TF. I guess I'm not as enthusiastic about tegra 3 as I should because I'm not a gamer.
Expect THD versions for Tegra 3 and then they will be adapted and the hardware restrictions will be lowered and given to other devices.
If a game was natively meant for Tegra 3, I wouldn't expect to see it on anything less than a Tegra 2 because then the developer would have to lower the game quality so much that it would insult how the game was meant to be played.
dont you think that they just can reduce texture or colors
it boost up the framerates
you see like in riptide they added motion blur and water splash nothing serious
im really looking forward to buy the prime the next few months but until then
Hmm, I must have been looking at other games, the ones I saw said they would be for T2 with enhanced versions for T3.

Will this kill Xoom 2?

let's see if Tegra 3 will be faster

Tegra Note vs N7 2013

Xolo is launching tegra note powered by tegra 4 in my country for Rs18000 and N7 2013 is available for Rs21000
Tegra 4 has 4 cortex a-15 @1.8Ghz and I don't know much about GPU, but tegra note has 1280x800 pixels
I would prefer better gaming but I don't know much about the GPU frequency, 72 cores doesn't matter as those are not real cores, they all are not used i think ?
which one is better according to you?
Anandtech did a detailed review of the EVGA tegra Note.
Have a look... Might help you..
I'd personally stay away mostly because of Xolo
I think the tegra note has just 1gb of ram, it is useful for note taking though I presume, since the galaxy note tab with the spen works flawlessly for note taking, while my nexus 7 with a $2 stylus isn't that functional. I would only buy the tegra if you need you tab for note taking, drawing, etc. Just my opinion.

I bought an Advent Tegra Note yesterday. The screen is the weakest point so far. It looks very washed out and bland. Whites look kind of yellow, while colours are very muted. I spent some time looking at the Tegra Note and the 2013 Nexus 7 side by side and the Nexus screen is vastly superior, partly due to the extra resolution, but also due to its colour reproduction.
The reasons I bought the Note in spite of the poor screen are: It's very very quick indeed. My first benchmark run in Antutu beat the Note 3. Secondly I wanted an expansion slot so I can store a reasonable amount of music locally rather than in the cloud. Thirdly, I wanted to be able ton mirror the screen to a TV and use USB OTG at the same time - having a separate HDMI output allows this in theory (Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8" can also do this by way of an adapter).
Did I mention how quick it is?
