Hi!
I'm using google apps in my rooted KF (talk, gmail, etc) and they work great, except that I cannot disable predictive text in them... This is a major annoyance for me, since I mostly type in Spanish (I don't want predictive text in Spanish either...).
I've disabled the "quick fixes" under Settings>Kindle Keyboard, and it works everywhere but in google apps.
Does someone know a fix for this? Should I install a 3rd party keyboard or something? (I really don't want to have to do that since I'm a noob with adb and stuff)
Thanks!

Odd problem.. I installed a stripped down rom, and now i have no Google voice to text. I installed Google keyboard, and Google search, however no Google typing option in the input settings. Is there an apk i can install to fix this?
after spending all day looking for the solution, I would find the answer 10 minutes after posting about it lol
seems I was missing plain old Google on my phone, found it in the App Store download it and it works like a charm now.
Since the Nougat Update, I noticed, that I can also disable the build in Samsung Keyboard, if I have a separet Keyboard like Gboard installed. However after some time, the Samsung Keyboard seems to enable itself again.
Is there some way to let the Samsung Keyboard disabled all the time, without rooting the device?

One of those Package disablers should do the trick, check Google Play.
There is a Problem with Package Disablers i come across the last times i used them. If i disable the Samsung Keyboard with them, then the Sync also for Google Keyboard (or Gboard) seems to be disabled also. Maybe there is some dependence, maybe not, i didn't know exactly. But if i disable the internal Keyboard via the hard way, it disables Sync for Gboard also.
So i was surprised and exited to found such a switch in the official settings of the S7 Edge.
BTW: The only reason why i would like GBoard more is, that i haven't found a way to type Special Characters like ³ and ² with the Samsung Keyboard. I didn't use the GIF Features or such things with GBoard. If you know a easy way to type such Special Characters with Samsung Keyboard, i could switch back.
I got an interesting notification pushed from Google Play over the weekend. I did not have Google Play app scanning enabled which is why I assume this was pushed from Google servers. It just popped up. I wasn't even doing anything at the time. I looked at the notification payload in the notification log and it indeed was from com.android.vending so it wasn't some imposter notification.
Anyhow, the notification made it clear in no uncertain terms that regardless of any past good experiences with the TouchPal keyboard, this version should be REMOVED from the phone. There was mention of it capturing data it wasn't supposed to. I should have grabbed a screen shot.
Fortunately, I was already using GBoard. HTC, like a number of others, pre-installs TouchPal so I was only able to disable it.
Do I trust Google and US Gov implicity? No. But I certainly put more stock in them than a keyboard straight out of China. There are few more dangerous apps you can put on an Android device than a keyboard IMO.
Anybody else seen this?
I would love to know how to remove this horribly invasive friggin program called TouchPal I disable it daily and it has permissions allowing it to make better use of my phone than I can......nice.....right?!?!!.......
Anyway anyone with knowledge on how to do this please email me.

Thanks,
Person fed up with annoying apps.
I have found instructions somewhere but lost it. So I need that microphone logo above keyboard and how you get it working? All the custom roms works nicely but this stock have to install something? I have 23s and gboard keyboard and google apk are installed.
Thanks.
nobody has done this? Howto get that microphone logo working with your android keyboard or gboard keyboard. Push that and write with your voice...
The Google app needs permission for the microphone. You also need to make sure the voice keyboard is active under keyboard and language settings.

Thanks man that last option was that what I needed!! Activate that voice keyboard.
My apologies if this is the wrong forum, but my problem just started on my new Samsung Galaxy S10+ phone. If there's a better place for it, admins please feel free to move this post.
I've been using an LG G6 for the past couple of years, and when I use the Google Voice Keyboard to dictate to my phone, it has always provided me with a drop box of alternate word choices after transcribing my speech to text. It does this by underlining a word that it thinks might be transcribed incorrectly, and when you click on the underlined word, a list of alternative words appears in a drop down box.
Just this past week, I upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S10+, and I find this feature seems to be missing entirely from the Google Voice Keyboard. I've tried using GBoard and the default Samsung keyboard, and I even installed TouchPal, but I can't seem to get this functionality to appear. I've done multiple Google searches to find out how to turn this on, and can find nothing! I can't be the only person with this problem, right? What am I missing?
I did do some detective work on my LG G6, and it seems the functionality appears in the Google Messages app when typing a message, but it doesn't appear when I'm putting text into a Google Keep note, so I don't know if this functionality varies by app. However, when I try to input a new message into Google Messages app on my Galaxy S10+, that functionality is missing, so it doesn't seem to be only an app issue.
Can anyone give me any suggestions or a solution? I've attached a photo of the functionality I'm describing.
Thanks!
