B&H online store is serving up preorders for wifi xoom.
Assuming OP can't post links....

There you go.
Where else will they be selling the WiFi only version?
I am thinking about returning my 3G Verizon Xoom for the WiFi version. The WiFi tethering of my EVO makes the contract and cancellation fees a little silly. I know that in a year I will want what is newer and faster and thinner, so signing up for the Verizon Contract is scaring me a little bit.
Is B&H the only online order location? I guess I also saw Staples might have them in stores on the 27th?

You're gonna undoubtedly see it for sale everywhere the 3G one is sold.
Just got email JR.com will have it for pre order as well.
I love that store. They usually have great prices and ship promptly. I also don't have to pay taxes.

Guess so. Way uglier than the black one.
So the Xoom Wifi doesn't come with A-GPS. Bummer!
Sorry, Double Post.

Are you absolutely certain of this? I have not seen detailed specifications showing the lack of a gps on the tablet, and actually according to this motorola developer site, it does. EDIT: Due to the anti-spam restrictions, I am unable to post the link. However, search the motorola dev site for the MZ604 and you should be able to see the specs that I am referring to.

I'm looking at the specs in BHPhoto website and it doesn't say anything about the GPS capability.

Hmm, well are you really going to use a wifi only model outside of your home or work? Or for navigation? Your phone should already have that capability, with 3G data and wifi
BH also shows the wifi version as having 512mb of ram. The moto sight says it has 1gig of ram and gps..
Use it the same way as 3g version.
IMO people with 3g tablets are nuts.

Well, they're not nuts, they just like paying a monthly fee to do something they should already be able to do if they're rooted and have the tethering app installed
I have a xoom 3G and the GPS works GREAT! 200x better then my $400.00 GPS system in my auto. I understood the WY FY version of the xoom was to be the same as the 3G unit, If it isnt, I wouldnt buy the WY FY xoom. I dont see why the WYFY xoom would have less memory then the 3G xoom eather. I dont use the 3G on my tablet it is unlocked. Its nice however to have the 3G/4G xoom model as you can (if you choose) pay a month to month data plan (without contract) vacationing or travel, then cut it off again when you get back home.
* Android 3.0 (Honeycomb)
* 1GHz Dual-Core CPU
* 1GB LP DDR2 RAM
* 32GB Flash Storage
* 10.1" Touchscreen Display
* Dual-Band 802.11n Wi-Fi
* Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
* Front & Rear Cameras
* HD Video Recording
* 10 Hour Battery
* S-GPS/E-Compass
Those are specs that I am finding for wifi Xoom
i can buy a 3g xoom with a dock and case locally off craigslist for the same price as a new wifi version. is there a advantage to one or the other? i know they root a little bit different and i think i read that the overclock\sd card kernal is havong some issues on the wifi version ( might be wrong). so is there a advantage to on or the other?
I have no issues with my overclock or sd, and I am on wifi only.
You just need to ask youself the main question, do you want the mobile radio for data and such or are you fine with only wifi? Personally, I have an evo that I can hotspot with and have no need for another monthly bill, plus gps works without the data connection so decide what you need and then go that route. (I would buy new if you have the ability to hotspot)
i have the ability on my x, but from what i hear not for much longer. which root method did you use? the adb or "one click"? did you flash 1.4.0 then 1.4.1? also just saw it comes with a screen protector too.. so 3g xoom case dock and screen protector for same cost as a wi-fi xoom. i just went on Motorola's site and checked serial number.... 1 year warranty expires april next year so its pretty much brand new with the accessories foe what id pay for a new wifi model
I’d buy the 2nd hand 3G Xoom, since it’s the same price as WIFI only and comes with accessories. Plus the 3G Xoom will have better resell value.
I found in the past mobile phone hotsport produce slow connection speed and kills the host’s battery very quick. The hotsport is a work round solution to the lack of mobile data connection, I'd just put the sim card from your mobile in to the Xoom if you need 3G access (so along as you have data plan on your phone of course).
P.S. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice, there are no better featured Android tablets on the horizon until next year when quad core processors come out.
i liked the acer tablet too, but since i do about 150 miles a day on my bike i deff like moto's build quality better. i feel like id rattle the acer apart! im gonna meet the guy at the verizon store so it can be checked to make sure it is clean and can be activated if i want. ill look into month to month plans while im there.
title says it all...since the galaxy s2 isnt available by any carrier yet...where is the cheapest place to get it? Ive only seen it on expansys...any others?
Prices seem to be slowly but steadily decreasing, here are probably the best places to keep an eye on.
Amazon, Google Shopping, and eBay. I would post links, but I don't have enough posts yet. You can find direct links at pastebin.com / mLf88e7L (without spaces ).
Amazon has them for like $689 right now + Prime
Try unlocked mobiles its the chepeast I found
Then Amazon then handtec then expansys
Thanks for posting as well; I'm thinking about getting one; I'm hoping to stay under 700.

get a sd card if u dont have one ( for backups etc - CWM )
I just bought mine from an Amazon seller (Warehouse Distributors). It was $684 with free shipping.
It just shipped, so I'll update you guys. I am a bit worried that they will screw me somehow (seem small, don't have their own domain for email or website), but calling them got to a live person, and seem friendly enough. In fact, they were able to pricematch when their price dropped a day later by $14 (was $698 when I ordered).
I hope it's not an open box or a box of rocks. Actually, if it was a box of rocks, it'd be suspicious even without opening since the phone is super light!
Either way, I'll update you guys on how it went. I'm expecting the phone by the end of this week.
i placed my order @ mobilecityonline.com last week. it was $699 + $4.99 shipping - $20 online coupon = $684.99 shipped. however, its price has risen since then, so apparently it was temporarily on sale. basically, just keep looking around bc its always changing on different sites, and look out for coupons.

Keep us updated on how it goes. I saw Mobile City, but avoided them because I read some negative reviews.

I was hesitant about buying from most of the import sites in the US but surprisingly mobilecityonline has far less negative reviews than other sites dealing the sgs2 such as popularelectronics.com or negri. I received it just like they promised via fedex no issues. They even called me and emailed me to confirm my purchase and stressed that i have 14 days to return it.
The only gripe is that they listed it as the UK version but when i got it, it said Samsung Romania on the label and included non-english manuals. Also, the US power adapter that came in the box isn't working for me. No biggie tho bc everything else checked out. Used it for 2 days now and so far im satisfied.

US power adapter in the box? Did they open the factory box to put it in there?
I didn't even think of them putting another country's phone in there. I would be expecting the UK version.
I would expect a US power adapter included with an international phone. Any others wanna chime in?
And the box was factory sealed.

Amazon seems to still be the cheapest place to get the SGS2 (~700 dollars, give or take a couple).

How so?
Unlocked mobiles has it for $656 shipped USD

Clove has it for $663 USD shipped

Shipped from the UK.
Why suck my grits. After I took a risk and bought it from an Amazon seller, I found this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875176292
It doesn't get any better than $689.99 + $5.99 shipping from none other than NEWEGG.
A trusted place with excellent customer service. Can't go wrong with NewEgg. At least it will benefit the people who waited.
Now... say thank you!
nfc included?
I wonder, does the newEgg version comes with NFC?
Also, been that it is been bought from an U.S. seller, can I get warranty from squaretrade for this phone? I know can i can buy it in the u.k. and get squaretrade in the u.k., but i dont want to have to send it to squaretrade u.k., I prefer the u.s. squaretrade.

Finally got it yesterday. Was in a unpadded box. But turned out okay for the most part.
Had a US power supply. Looks like a Latin America model (primary language on the box was Spanish, and so was the manual).
I found 5 green pixels when viewing a dark gray background.
ordered mine last week from amazon for 689 with FREE prim 2 day shipping. I payed the extra 3.99 for one day shipping. I had no issues with the shipping process, everything went smooth. One important thing i will add though is that when i recieved my phone the battery was completely dead, i had to keep the phone on the charger for about an hour and a half before i could turn it on. Eventually i put the phone in download mode and then pressed the down volume rocker which restarts the phone. My version was in polish, so it took a few moments to find the language setting and switch it to english. I found the whole preces pretty cosmical and my friends think im crazy for purchasing an unlocked european phone. But then again they all have Blackberrys so there opinion is moot lol. Im loving my phone right now and dont remember the last time i was this satisfied from an expensive purchase.
edit... i just read that some people had some worries about the shipping condition. my phone was shipped in two boxes. the first was the standard shipping box. then it was in a bigger cell phone style box. similar to what you would get from a carrier. this box was a little beat up, but thankfully the official samsung box was inside in great condition and still sealed. so for who ever was wondering, my us dongle was in the second box not the official samsung box where the actual phone, earphones, sync cable, and euro charger was in.
Handtec is offering £404.98 (shipping included) for North American buyers. That's only 570 Cdn.... It's suprisingly lower than the pricetag on amazon or other non-Euro sites. The price's been decreasing, too. Anyone know why the price has been decreasing steadily (as mentioned in the previous thread)? Is it because of the upcoming iPhone 5 or because of market saturation in Europe? I might order one after Canadian carriers confirm their models. I refuse to buy a SGSII with the LCD variant
Todays daily woot deal is the xoom wifi tablet for 399$, good deal!
http://www.woot.com/
I'm actually here because of today's woot... I had thought about picking one up shortly after they came out but decided against it for the price and my own lack of funds/need for it.
Now I've actually got a little money to spare but wondering if one of the other few competitors might be better so I'm trying to see what's best in terms of root, kernals, roms etc... Thinking I might end up picking one up at this rate.
I was looking at the same thing. Does anyone here have experience with the refurb items coming out of Motorolla? Are they generally in like new condition?
I am struggling with this one too...
I picked up a Xoom at Costco for $500 a few weeks ago, and could return it and pick up one off Woot for $100 cheaper. Only thing lacking is the fact that I lose the silicone case that comes with the Costco retail package.
Tempted to pull the trigger!

No - this is the WiFi only model. Not the 3g.
I purchased a refurb Xoom direct from Motorola at the end of May and I've had no issues with it all. I have a friend that also purchased a refurb Xoom direct from Moto. Both came in retail packaging with charger, cable and OEM screen protector as well as stock warranty. Didn't think I could go wrong.
Well, I think I am going to eat the $100 bucks and keep the Costco 90 day return policy in my back pocket in case some other fantastic tablet comes along to temp me away from my Xoom. I have until 9/19 for my return... ;-)

Yeah I just realized that when looking at the woot site lol. I'm an idiot.
I spent about the same on a used WIFI model only a few months ago. I think this is a great price for the xoom. keep in mind that this is the google flagship, therefore updates come ASAP whereas other tablets have to wait for their respective companies to give the go-ahead.
i paid 570 for mine at launch and I dont regret it. So, yeah, go for it.
I have been wanting to get one since launch, and woot's deal of the day convinced me to finally pull the trigger on it. Can't wait to start messing with it when it arrives!

I doubt they have that many refurb, chance are that you will get new unit!
they are probably checking if lowering the price help them sell, in canada they just lowered the price to 499 like in the US at costco for the wifi and at this price point it's a great device! I lub mine!
I was too tempted and ended up ordering one last night as well. Just quickly browsing, it seemed like there are some good devs working on this and some good kernals/roms.
Definitely looking forward to playing with it! As much as I hate waiting around for it, I'll at least have time to research and prepare my plans of what to do to it.

Interesting that today Moto site shows no refurbished xooms available.
The same deal showed up again yesterday during the woot-off. I wasn't refreshing frequently so I don't really know how many they had left to sell, but I know they didn't sell out during the day of the deal.
Hello all. First this forum has been great giving me info on my new Nexus 7. Even problems to look out for (that I haven't had yet, knock on wood).
Right now I have an original Droid that I had added via a dealer under the table on MetroPCS via Hodini. It works "okay" and had it awhile. The problem is, even with the custom PRLs and tweaking via CDMA Workshop, I only get 100-400kbps in a so called 3G Metro city.
I really think T-Mobile's 'Walmart' deal is the best way to go. Even 100 minutes of talk is enough for me, and if not ill do the GVoice to Chat route trick.
So the issue is I blew all my money from the sell of my original iPad to get this 16GB Nexus (plus some beer). I can probably soon muster around $100, maybe $125. Can u recommend a decent android phone around this price thats just a step up than my droid in speed, but I know I won't be getting a Nexus for this. Mainly something that I can do good battery time for WiFi share, or a phone known for good Bluetooth sharing reliability so I won't be using so much battery?
Reason I want this cause as you all know the Nexus 7 is pretty gimped without Internet. I really wish Google / ASUS made a 3G or 4G version, I would of bought that in a second, even if it was $100 or $150 more.
Thanks in Advance!
