Quick note, I was rooted but just unrooted and started clean last night. I'm currently on .340, I flashed the FULL SBF last night.
Anyways. I keep seeing all these Blur 3.4.2 threads out there and it's sad to say, but I'm still not sure what it is? Can someone please elaborate to me in detail what Blur 3.4.2 is. Is Blur 3.4.2 a ROM, just a new build, an update to .340, etc.? I'm confused on what it is. I do have the TBH app that has this so I can download it if needed. I'm just curious to know what the whole deal about this is and if its worth updating to this?
Thank you,
BUD
hi, i noticed 3.4.2 as well and I tried it out. At that point it was unrootable, but it can be rooted with superoneclick now. Basically it was blur similar to that of the droid pro, with profiles and everything. I found it laggy and not as efficient as others (and don't use the motorola home launcher) so it didn't seem worth the upgrade from 3.4.0. I sbf'ed back to 3.4.0 to install apex back on the droid x. hope that helps!
Iv upgraded to dhd i no how to root dhd as iv read so dont panic lol. Ok question is im running uk tmobile dhd and iv read on quite a few forums of ppls phone suffering serious problems after rooting dont see why but just want to no if theres truth in this before i proceed

No dont worry, as long as you know what your doing your phone will be fine after rooting.... its the people that dont bother to read and understand what there doing before they do it that have problems

I wouldn't root the phone right now if i were you. The only custom ROM that's currently running at its best is Revolution HD and the in-call sound quality is really bad. I rooted mine over the weekend and thinking of reverting back to the stock OS that it came with.
Just play around with the phone as it is for now. at this point theres no reason to root and install a custom ROM..
i read somewhere that the latest release of cyanogen mod 7 nightly edition came up with something to fix the sound quality. Find out if CM7 is fully operational though cause its running gingerbread

You need a custom kernel to overclock, and before you have full root, you need to s-off

UPDATED SUBJECT, SORRY I HAD A BRAINFART
I thought I read somewhere that either devs or users were still running out of the box stock grj06d and that they might be experiencing better online speeds. Can anyone confirm if this is true? I just downloaded buglesspete's rooted roms last night and an curious if anyone has done that already.
I'm about 99% sure that the ns4g is only compatible with 2.3.4 since that is when the aosp code for it was added in.
Hmm. I do remember there being an update immediately after activating it. I was assuming the update was 2.3.4. Sorry, I got grj22 confused with something else.
Out of the box the 4G had 2.3.4, before the update.
There's another update, currently in testing, that seems to involve a prerelease radio firmware. That's probably what you heard about.
I just flashed 06 and it seems okay. I'm still at work so no time yet to test. I gotta tell buglesspete I think his grj06 rooted really isn't rooted.
Ok i keep getting nagged to update my g2 I am permrooted using the no adb gfree method. So i have s-off supercid and all that. I want to manually flash a pre-rooted GB rom but I'm hoping for a stock rom with minimal changes. The one exception is I want to be able to overclock, I've been looking everywhere but there are too many options without the specific changes and builds outlined. Just a little confused and looking for advice on a rom that will fit what I'm looking for. I'm happy with the stock feel just want to overclock basically. Any ideas?
BOO! no one has any recommendations?
Xboarder56's stock 2.3 + enhancements can be overclocked and is pretty much just stock AOSP.
cyanogenmod7
Sorry I'm new to some of this lol, but its that off the new ota build? Also does it make a difference? I have a stock rooted rom dvds it works great but I want the option of over clocking just because I can't help myself plus its awesome. I have pretty much every thing I own overclocked lol. free power is epic

CM7 and xboarder56's are both based on AOSP 2.3.5, the latest android release. There's no need for them to be based off of the OTA build because they've been compiled from AOSP source (and been around before the OTA was even a thought). For this reason we've had things like CM7 2.3 ROMs since January on the G2. Nearly every ROM in the dev section will have custom kernels that allow overclocking, though (except the bone stock pre-rooted OTA Builds, they're pretty much stuck atm).

Find the radio thread in the dev section. I recommend flashing the radio intended for the T-mobile 2.3 OTA.
is that radio Vision_Radio_12.52. 60.25_26.08.04.30 ? Also, I flashed the bone stock pre rooted. My thing was I wanted to keep the stock look for now. Just to keep it simple, plus I like it. I will probably flash virtuous when they come out with a new update.

Yes thats the T-Mo US OTA radio.
ROMs like CM7 and other AOSP ones are very close to stock. The G2 ships (and OTAs) with an almost stock ROM, so anything built from AOSP will be very similar.
Something like CM7 will be much quicker and efficient with tons of extra improvements, but look very similar.
Pretty much since it was available I was running Syndicate ROM Frozen, but recently switched to CleanGB.
Once thing I miss about SRF was the custom wait/busy icon/animation.
How can this be changed/customized on any ROM? Or is it not that easy?
