Hi, my brother just bought a new phone 'sfr startrail', which is obviously a blade variant. We are planning on flashing CM7, but i have some quesions concerning the phone specs.
-There is a 5Mpixel camera and not a 3Mpixel
-Baseband is: SFR_P733N01
-Kernel: [email protected]
-Build: SFR_P733NV1.0.0B04
Is it safe for me to flash root with fastboot and then flash CM7 with CWM?
Thanks for any replies! Hope to be on CM7 soon!
P733 is the Libra, which is just the Blade with slightly different hardware as you have noticed. Should be fine for you to flash CM7.

So i recommanded a ZTE blade to a friend who wanted a cheap smartphone.
ZTE Gen 1 - 3.2MP (Belgium - Mobistar - Model name "San Francisco")
Installed the latest CM7 Stable upgrading it to GEN2.
Worked fine but now's he's suddenly having issues with the build-in speakers and we are quite certain that it's a hardware problem.
Now i would like to restore it to a stock ZTE rom to test the device and if needed return it to the store (with an explanation what happend)
I'm a bit uncertain on how to do this and these forums don't make it any easier since there seem to be different version of this phone!
Could anyone point me in the right direction?
I've tried a lot of different Rom's for my ZTE Blade and so far I find LeWa ROM is the best of the lot.
I'm currently on version LeWa ROM V880 12.03.22
I see there is an update but for some reason can't seem to download it from the phone and install it.
So far this ROM has been the very best mix of being stable, fast and look amazing.
The menu system is the best I've seen.
I would however like to get rid of the lat bit of Chinese writing and have the entire ROM in English.
Anyone else a fan?
Anyone else managed to upgrade to a newer version?
Their website looks so professional but it's all in Chinese so I'm stuck
I'd post the link but I'm not allowed to post external links
BTW I just noticed my possible mistake - on the offical LeWa website there is a U880 ROM and a V880 ROM I think I tried to install the wrong one last time "U" instead of "V"
Anyway I upgraded to the very latest version of this ROM for V880 ZTE Blade and it works great.
Although at first boot the lock screen was totally unresponsive and none of the key would work but booting into ClockWork Mod and wiping all the various data nd caches solved the problem
This is by far the best looking ROM I've ever used on my ZTE Blade and that includes ICS ROM's.
Hi,
I am trying to update my dad's Defy ROM. It is currently running CM7 on it.
I did the CM7 installation last November (Nov 11 version), and I've kind of forgotten the Defy peculiarities since I am a ZTE Blade user in day to day life.
Is there anything to take note in doing the CM7 to CM9 upgrade, for instance how about the the partition size?
I am not staying near my dad so I can't do the installation myself. I will have to relay instructions to him via Skype for him to do it on his own. My dad is reasonably comfortable with technology but
Can CM9 be flashed in the conventional method via Clockworkmod? (In the same way as Blade ROM updates)
I have got him to download the latest CM9 nightly from here:
http://defy.wdscript.fr/defy-cm9/
This is the 12th July version. Can anyone tell me if this nightly is stable, and if not, which version is recommended?
Many thanks in advance for the help!
CM9 is flashed using CWM.
A full wipe(data/factory reset) will be required.
Can't get why you need to adjust partition size (you mean multiboot partitions?)
Thanks for the info.
I thought that the default ROM partition size may need to be adjusted. If not necessary then I'll just let it be.
So is the latest nightly the best option? Or is there a more stable version I should look into?
You don't need to change the partitions..
What are the specs of your Dad's defy, Is it a green lens or red lens? What kernel does it have? I need details before suggesting the nightly build.
This is a red lens defy I think, using the bayer module.
Kernel version:
2.6.32.9-gb08c3c8
[email protected] #1
Building no: Gingerbread GWK74 Cyanogen Defy 11-11-11
I also seem to have a problem doing a backup using CWM.
Any idea what's causing this error message?
Questions go in the Q&A section
Can anyone please tell me what may be causing problems to the nandroid backup? :-o
Have you seen this post? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663613
I recently changed from 7 -> 9 using this guide word for word with no issues.
Thanks very much for the link on CM9 install.
I'm still trying to fix the nandroid backup problem. I have a feeling it's running out of space. Will clean up SD card and try again.
HI ... i did a terrible mistake on my defy ..... It was having some stability issues on cyanogenmod 9 and so I thought lets flash the stick froyo on it and redo everything .... but due to my carelessness by mistake i had flashed defy plus sbf on it .... the build is 4.5.1-134_DFP-1321 with android version 2.3.6 .. now I am having many problems like camera is not working, touch screen sensitivity is not good ...
things I tried ....
I refered to all in one defy beginners guide .... that has two methods to fix this kind of problem .. but both were not useful .the phone does not boot after flashing the provided sbf file .
I am able to install recovery on it and restore to nandroid back up but i think due to kernels mismatch the issues remain same ...
When from recovery i tried to install CM 7 and did flash its kernel too .... the phone will not boot ...
Please help I am not in a budget to buy a new phone and I love my defy very much ... Any help and guidance is truly appreciated.....Thanks
i had a problem not exactly like this, but had solved in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432100
it's a cm9 rom and is very smooth and stable.
since then it's working fine.
hey ... i tried this .. but still i am having camera and touchscreen problems .... IS there any sbf for defy with 2.3.6 version as only this can my current version on defy ...
thanks

You are on Bootloader version 6 now. You can only be saved by flashing a bl6 rom for the "defy" not defy+. Or any other rom for Defy which has bootloader version 6.
if you are able to enable android debugging and root + install 2ndinit (considering your touch screen works a little bit to your command ) you can directly flash CM9 rom.
Root first, 2ndinit, then install CWM and flash froyo kernal after flashing the CM9 or CMX zip. (According to my little knowledge, Epsylon's build comes with froyo kernel already)
Considering your touchscreen is totally abrupt and non-responsive and you are unable to root using it. You can flash bl6 froyo rom for your green lense defy.
Follow this thread for downgrading the build version + kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486731
DO NOT USE THE FROYO ROM IN THE THREAD AS REGULAR. (DON'T USE THE CAMERA WHEN USING THE ROM IN THE THREAD OR YOU MIGHT GET YOUR CAMERA LED PERMANENTLY BURNT). JUST USE IT TO ROOT + 2NDINIT + CM9

Its not the android version. Its Bootloader version that prevents you from downgrading.
Thread about everything related to ZTE Blade V8 Lite.
I cannot find much info about this phone. No custom recovery, no root, no ROMs.. If you have any info about our beloved mobile please say, so we can help each other.
I have v2.0 firmware and there is no update yet to v4.0 for my build. I am having random freezes followed by restarts (tried hard reset twice, wipe cache). Anyone else with similar issues?
How to install build from other country since default update from SD card doesn't let me update (it says that build is different than my build)?

I have the ZTE Blade V8 lite and i want to root it please
Does anybody know what's needed for getting this done? I mean sources, people who knows about this board and SoC. Do we need to ask zte to release some sources or anything?
