dear all,
i want to upgrade my ROM,but i still to afraid to to that. and i do not fully understand.
i try to ask with HCT team,to know what region my device ROM, they said my ROM are Czech Rep. Region. they recommended to use Europe/EastEurope 1.36.479.1 ROm.
The problem is I live in Indonesia (ASIA/South East Asia) region. i afraid i not to use its ROM in my country and can make my device break.
my ROM 1.07.479.1 WWE,its can used, whether there is a relationship between ROM with Radio?

if you are afraid to do it don't install a new one
but if you want to do it choose one which matches your region.
i don't really understand your last question..but the ROM will have included Radio also(and anyway you cant flash Radio separate)
we told you before in this thread ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355227
that there is nothing to make you afraid, nothing will affect on your gsm or wifi,
changing region has no effect at all.
dont afriad to do new thing in youre life its very important taht sometimes you should risk to win.after this advice it has no problem and i recommand you change your rome every motnh and dont worry about it

I dont really understand.
Using the Softbank rom, the phone will be simlocked and the radio stack will be read only. Also bootloader will be 1.09.
If you dont live in Japan, there is no need to use this rom. For HK you can settle for most roms that wont lock your phone in this manner. Softbank is really tough there, because of the different market strategy carriers use in Japan.
Call me ignorant. But why do you wanna change the rom to Japanese, living in HK?
Hello, i am from greece, so i am not that familiar with the loads of names i came across for the p3300, since in my country there is only HTC Branded phones, not XDA or DOPOD or whatever. I have the phone for quite some time now and i am always in the tact of updating my devices. So the time for my htc has come. I am gonna unlock it through imei-check since as i read there is not a commercial unlocker yet, and i am having a bit of a problem in order what rom i should pick to flash on my phone. I really dont need the greek support on my phone, since all my devices are on english. So, can someone help me choosing in what rom i should choose ?
And i have couple of questions too,
1) I have a rom from my manufacturer's page that only updates the Greek language menus, if i flash to some abroad rom will i still able to put that rom to my phone to have greek again or no ?
2) Will (Lets say O2 or another ROM) be compatible with my carrier ( Cosmote GR).
Any help will be great.
Thank you for your time,
Best Regards , George.
HI
i got my jade in Singapore but i live in Europe my rom version is 1.40.723.2 dated 27.10.08.
1. I would like to know is to upgrade EU rom or ASIA rom .
2. If it is wise to upgrade the rom and if its relay essential to do it.
can the phone lock for some reason if i upgrade the rom.
thnk you in advance for your help
Same thing as me, the phone is from Singapore starhub, I flash it to the lastest Asia rom on the day I got it.
1) Of course you can flash it to EU rom if you prefer, it doesn't really matter.
2) New rom always came out with some bug fixed but sometimes it can be worst than the old rom so try yourself and choose which one you prefer.
3) No, the phone won't get lock just flashing the rom.
Thanks
i think i will stay with the old rom i think will not take a chance.
Hi
My current version is 1.48, I just got the phone and wanted to update to the latest 1.66. When I put my serial in on the HTC site it says:
"Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device."
What Can I Do??? I do not want to be stuck on 1.48 and would prefer not to void my warranty..
Im on MTN South Africa if that helps at all.

If you don't want to void your warranty then there's nothing you can do. Even if you could download it, you wouldn't be able to flash your phone with it.
You could use HSPL so that you can then flash the newer ROM, but you would need to reflash the original ROM and then remove HSPL if you ever needed to send your phone for repair.
Sorry, but...
... that is the same problem with any HD2 that is "Branded" => when you turn on your phone, you see a flash screen during the boot with your phone company's logo. For these phones you need to get the ROM-Update directly from your phone company and not HTC. The companies are really slow in rolling out the Updates - if at all.
Don't feel bad - we're having the same problem here in Europe (some of us stuck with ver. 1.43).
You could use one of the custom ROMs on this site and if there is a warranty issue, just replace it with the original - provided the phone has not totally died - prior to submitting it for service.
my phone is not branded and i get the same error when trying to download new rom. Im from Slovenia
My phone has one or two apps from the Service Provider but there is no branding when starting the phone. I did not have this problem with my Nokia N95 from the same SP and it had the same aps on.
The same issue is here in he UK with Vodafone. The handset is unbranded but the serial numbers have been blocked by HTC to get updates until they've been tested by the service provider. The only way of getting the update is to use HSPL.
how many of these threads do we need? does no one use the search function on forums anymore?

Roms are region dependant AND provider dependant. a slovenian phone will be tied to teh east european rom, not the wwe rom.

Thats actually comforting news (the fact that the hd2 is unbranded on vf, not that we have to wait).... does this mean that as per their website its unlocked to other networks too, as I need to use 3 other sims in it depending on country I am in... thanks
Good morning,
I'm here in HK for a long period and I'd like to buy a HTC HD2 here that is cheaper than in Italy.
My only concern is that if I can flash it without problem in order to use a new cooked ROM in italian .
What does it mean WWE ? I read WWE in some ROM but I don't known what it means
Thanks
Hi friend, WWE stands for world wide English....I also bought my HD2 from Hongkong, and the original ROM installed is also the WWE version, means everything is in English, not in Hongkong's native language...Flashing to another ROM is not a problem, just make sure you follow the procedure correctly (HSPL, etc..etc...)
Thanks...but can you tell me about correct procedure to flash ? I want to avoid any kind of serious problem
all in the stickies at the top of this forum, with videos
OK thanks...but the right steps are : flash with new spl or hpsl and then fals new rom (if I want to use Artemis rom wich SPL/HSPL flash have I to use ?
Thanks
Soon, I would be in Uk too. Which is the carrier who offers the mobile at a lower price -and which is the lower price-??Many thanks!!
