Android 2.1 confirmed (again)

Hey guys,
Sony have just done a press release on the new Xperia X8, and they've mentioned the Q3 Android 2.1 update we're due:
Sony Ericsson delivers the most entertaining smartphones
· Sony Ericsson brings together the very best of communication and entertainment in its Xperia™ collection
· The Xperia™ X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro will all receive software upgrades from Q3 onwards in selected markets. Additional features to be added to the X10 in Q4.
· The Sony Ericsson Xperia™ X8 extends the range of the most entertaining smartphones
Singapore – June 16, 2010 – Xperia™ brings consumers the best communication and entertainment experiences, delivered in a collection of smartphones to give consumers choice in size and style.
The Xperia™ X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro smartphones will all receive software upgrades during their lifecycle to improve performance and add new communication and entertainment experiences. From Q3 2010 onwards, the Xperia™ X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro smartphones will be upgraded to run on the Android 2.1 operating system in selected markets. The Xperia™ X10’s position as the best multimedia Android smartphone will be strengthened through the addition of HD video recording as part of the same Q3 upgrade. I'm a new user so i can't publish links, however sonyericsson.com/press has the original press release called 'Sony Ericsson delivers the most interesting smartphones'. Slashgear did the original article that drew my attention

That's great news to me, considering that you're plucking it out of an Sg site...
But on the other hand, till now Sg users (excluding those who hacked their phones) are still stuck with 1.0.14 baseband... -_- The launch aswell... So much hype in the papers about the phone, yet shipment was delayed for 2 months.
So I kinda will take the release timeline with a pinch of salt.

Here are my future prediction:
2011 Q2 we get 2.2!
2011 Q4 we get 3D (assuming it cost 500$ for a pair of 3d glaese for cellphone)
2012 Q2 You can remote control your car just like every james bond movie
2012 Q4 Xperia X20 release! Update your x10 and turn it into bombs and throw it at your enemies.
2013 Q2 If you still have x10, it can do teleportation now.
2013 Q4 Sadly sony decide it is time to takeover the world and trigger the hypotic feature on all Sony ericsson phones and make you their loyal slaes.
2014 Q2 Cellphone War 1 begin! the SE slaves Vs HTC slaves VS the overwhelming APPLE Slaves in an all out world war. Update your firmware now, it should be able to create a plasma beam call lightsaber.

i am realizing now..
that buying a smartphone is like getting a new girlfriend.
u have to accept it for what it is...dont expect it to change for you in future (firmware upgrades)...and u ll be happier.

no it is not ( if i don't like her software ,i can talk to her to change ,if she refused i could leave her and threw her into garbage without being charged for money ), but leaving a phone will charge you 500+ dollars

Ive just got the X10, have a Dell XPS running OSX 10.6.4 and Win7 and a Touch HD running WinMo.
So i'm a slutt?

Yeah, you can buy it in 3644 but it is still a 2010 model.

Xperia GX and Xperia SX announced by Sony Mobile Japan

Sony Mobile Japan has just announced two new handsets, the high-end Xperia GX and medium end Xperia SX. The Xperia GX looks like the update to the Xperia arc and we would expect at least this model to launch in the western markets. The Xperia GX was previously using the codename ‘Mint’. The Sony LT29i ‘Hayabusa’ will be the same as the Xperia GX without LTE functionality.

When I saw Xperia GX, I fall in love!
I've never really liked Xperia s design.
So it looks good that sony has made a different design (something similar Arc)

I want a GX. It looks lush.

Any idea whether it will come to other country except japan? I dont want this to end up like xperia acro

People talking about the Xperia GX was previously using the codename ‘Mint’.

The Xperia GX dosen't seem to have any Japan specific features like the S does... so there is a chance that the GX will see international release...

You do realize that all that dual, quad and I don't know what core is just a big piece of crap meant to attract customers, while in reality there is no need at all for such things for now. You can't possibly use such phones to their fullest, mainly because of android limits (single, dual and quad core phones perform almost the same on gingerbread; dual cores perform a bit better than single cores on ICS, though), but also I can't think of an app that would demand such thing. I have a fuqing dual core computer at home and the only thing it's missing is a bit more RAM, so I can't see for what reason would you need a PHONE with QUAD CORE.

it's confirmed..
the Xperia GX has ICS(Android 4.0) on stock, has a micro sd slot, and is using normal chip(not micro-chip) !!
i'm soooooooo gonna get this! international release please! >.<

I think they should release some sort of source or an update to help out the developers who are currently working on a custom CM9 ICS for the X10.

Few days ago I checked Ion in local store, just to see how it feels in hand and in real world.
Well, despite the fact that it doesn't have replacable battery (which is excluding factor to me), I can say that it feels very nice, high-end-alike quality. It feels much better than S in hand, and I don't know about Acro S.
If you care about housing quality, then go for Ion, as for performance, it's pretty much the same as S, plus you'll get microSD slot.

Hey the xperia arc has for me the greatest design but i prefer to buy the htc one x, galaxy nexus not the 4 because it is not for daily use(big battery consumption :/ ) or the james bond smartphone! xperia arc - 2011 model - no jelly bean update :/

if you're hell bent on getting on of them - get the ION
you should consider getting the Nexus 4...hard to beat at that price point

I would go for a Nexus, just because of the software updates... You'll get every one of them with a Nexus

I've heard that the Xperia S is laggy, Xperia T is not too fast... Wait till MWC 2013, or get a quad core phone. LG 4 hd is relatively cheap, Nexus 4 is the fastest and will get more updates. Other quad core phones are a waste of money unless you are fond of the design.
