why i9100g dpi value looks bougs - Galaxy S II General

You can see this value:
x DPI: 2.8386712E-6
Y DPI: 4.731187E-6
it looks strange, I also check the i9100 mode, it looks normal.
217.71428
218.49463

Thats a very odd refresh rate too, 68? Is it really 60?

Yeah, me too having same values. I am using Android System Info App. So its not app issue. 2 apps are showing same value. I have no idea what x DPI and y DPI having those values means? What should be ideal values?
And 68 Hz refresh rate is odd. lol

^^Pal-ambar, Y U NO give it a rest?

Ok. Lets see what this means:
x DPI: 2.8386712E-6
Y DPI: 4.731187E-6
Its quite funny. Maybe some expert can help out what this means?
Or it may be the case that the apps are not able to read DPI properly? Its saying 240 DPI, and AFAIK I9100 has 217. So its reading is wrong.

actually I think the app read the DPI properly, as other app also get this value.
Unless samusing make the fake data to make us read a incorrect value.

[Q] Whats your LCD density/DPI?

So I've been trying out different LCD densities for a while now, but I always end up using the stock 240. Unfortunately this prevents me from using games I've already purchased, Osmos HD for instance. Now this can easily be solved with, lets just say, less than legal means. But that's a whole 'nother story.
So, what's your density?

My density is less than legal
Seriously though I have never seen why people have wanted to change from the stock 240? Seems like the perfect density to me to be honest

Seriously? I find 240 to make everything ginormigous. I like and use 160, no problems with market either.

Lazy bum! lol
+1 for 160, also 165 is good, but normal (240) feels gigantic
217 (stock HD2 dpi) looks best to me, but i use 240 because of market compatibility, it's pretty big but i got used to it.
160 is too small and ugly IMHO.
i prefer a dpi 192, the stock 240 is just too big and 160 too small.
but on the other side i have to deal with some market issues sometimes
hi! you can use 192 dpi with the hacked market ofcourse and everything goes smoothly (most of the time). i use 220-240 because i like it and helps me with my drawing-related apps.
i guess it depends on what suites you better. anyway, i would recommend 192 and more unless your eyes can magically magnify things...
normally i use 160 dpi for every gb rom.
but for ics's roms i use the standard 240 dpi.
in my mind it looks best and there are no complications

Hey guys
Just downloaded this app called Texdroider DPI and changed from 480 (defult) to 450 or 400 or 380(current) 320.
If anybody wants try go ahead... it looks bit nicer..
WARNING : DO NOT CHANGE LESS THAN 320 !!! PHONE MIGHT NOT BOOT !!! OR HOME SCREEN WILL BE CRASHING
MIN : 320
MAX: 480
I haven't tried higher than default 480 ...
Only rooted phones ...

I use ROM Toolbox Lite and change in build.prop. I use at minimum 320.

Yup!!! Same issue but I don't mind for the time being.
I usually use FlipBoard (RSS) and the extra screen estate is so much better.

why I change from 480 (defult) to 450 or 400 or 380 or 320
what I get from I do it that ...?
@ Simona Simmy: Thx for the advice! I changed to DPI 380 (320 was a little bit too small for me) and it really is a relief compared to 480, which i find horrible and impossible to work with.
@ baso2000: See it like working with a VGA-resolution (low resolution) on the screen of your desktop PC. In VGA everything looks very big and you don't have a lot of screen space. If you change the resolution (higher) everything will become smaller and you can view full pages on one screen without scrolling. It's the same as working in DPI 480 and changing that to DPI 380 or 320. You have more screen real estate and everthing becomes smaller (no need to scroll) and your phone is more like a tablet.

Btw, the only negative I could find with changing to DPI 380 is that the EMUI camera app doesn't change. The capture button is not at the bottom of the screen, but in the middle.... :silly:

For fix this, use Xposed with Appsetting. You can choose DPI per app with this. Some apps (like camera) doesn't like dpi under 480. I use Appsetting to set defaut DPI. And camera works well with it.
There is a thread for xposed on mate 7. Read it because you have too use an old version. The newest will not work.
I changed to 400 and wow it look so much sharper than when i opened it and the screnn looks even bigger as well
Thanksa
Yes, with stock, It's like use a 25" Pc's screen, with VGA definition....
Hello guys. Can you post some shots of your screen with the differents dpi? I'd like to see if it makes a big difference before i make it on my phone. Thanks.
OK, some screenshots with 360dpi but i'm with nova launcher.

[DISCUSSION] OPO VR Cardboard

Hey Guys
If you already got one of the VR cardboards by Oneplus please feel free to share your experiences with it.
I have tried it and somehow not really satisfied with the cardboard. It seems the distance of the lenses is not optimized.
The cardboard app is set up for prperly but everything looks blured unless I increase the distance between screen and lenses.
Did you try by changing of DPI as suggested in OPO Forums...

Native dpi scaling (MM needed)

Surprised not to see this posted here. It's for the s7 but people on reddit have confirmed that it works on the s6. I would try it but you need to be running MM, seems it changes the dpi to 540, or around that can't remember the exact number. This is native so Ui and everything should scale properly compared to doing to in adb.

Why would you need to downscale the resolution of your OS? i dont see any logic in it, or do you mean Text Size and Icon Size?

Ah i see so you guys are talking about resizing the icons and text of the OS, if you guys wanted to lower resolution for gaming Samsung Galaxy S6 has a samsung app called Game Tuner which works like an nvidia or amd control panel which lets you configure color quality per game, screen brightness per game and most importantly resolution per game.

Ic, well i just tought you guys wanted it for the games, there are many times when you want to play high end gfx games on your android but the fps are killed by the overkill screen resolution, thats why android has some apps that reduces the DPI of the entire OS, but Game Tuner is much better than that, it only affects the game you want.
Anyways sorry for going off topic, just tried to help
This is simply superb trick. Working perfectly on 920F dual sim.

Correct me if im wrong but resolution is different than dpi right?
Suppose you have a 4k resolution and 620 dpi, you changed from 620 dpi to 540 dpi you still have 4k resolution, no? It's just that in 540 dpi you can view more content but still have the same resolution.
Feel free to correct me.
Simply put, DPI = scaling and has nothing to do with res.
This changed the dpi on my S6 to 560 after reboot. Then I issued 'adb wm density 540' which changed the dpi to 540 on the fly.
The easiest way to control ur dpi scalling here it is
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.evozi.displayscaling
How about the phone app and camera app, is it also condensed?
Indeed works perfectly fine on G920F. @Tricks25 yes, phone/camera are also condensed
Works with apps "more shortcuts" and G920I. 2 modes (standard/condensed) to select when launch the "DisplayScalingActivity" shortcut.

Run 120fps within any app and any resolution you wish

Import this little profile here to tasker
PLEASE TRY IT WITH QHD
Follow the steps within profile
Beta 2 will theorically let you run strictly on 60hz and will run you back to 120 whenever you open an app that you desire to be refreshing at 120
Needed
Tasker
Patient
Knowledge on how to run adb commands until there's root.
Any app and resolution should give you the refresh rate you're looking for.
Please enjoy and report back.

They have been, but on a different device and have worked well,
I have been looking back and forth to aosp how they are managing the refresh rates. to force x fps they use min_refresh_rate & peak_refresh_rate. What i have done here is that i made a custom task when you open an app to set this variables to these values for example peak_refresh_rate value = 120.0, variable min_refresh_rate value = 120.0. Then when you exit the app to set this variables to these values for example peak_refresh_rate value = 60.0 variable min_refresh_rate value = 120.0. These are system variables so you have to make sure that you select system and dont just leave at global

There is but, the only problem that I have been having is that when you exit the app were you want to run it in my case my is 75hz. So let's say I have it set to open x app at 75 it will do it, but it won't reset it back down to 60 so it would just be stuck. So I am not doing any fps that aren't officially supported by the phone and oem.
