Used the single .tar file upgrade from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1174161
I used the Non-Wipe [fixed version by Intratech] version.
The firmware flash is successful. However, I cannot use Odin to flash CF-ROOT kernel (CF-Root-SGS2_ZS_OZS_KG2-v4.1-CWM4.tar). Every time it is just stuck at Get Pit for mapping???
Any clue?
I used Intratech's Non-Wipe version, flashed CF Root for KG1; rooted the device and got back to KG2 stock kernel.
Inshort it worked fine for me. Try flashing KG2 again and see.

Could you please post the stock KG2 kernel that you have?
Thanks
You are using the wrong CF-ROOT Kernel.
You should use the KG1 CF-ROOT for the new KG2 firmware.
After that, flash the KG2 kernel (only) back to your S2.
You need the KG1 CF-ROOT as this is based on 2.3.4 while the KG2 CF-ROOT images are for 2.3.3.
You can download the firmware here:

It is a KG2 firmware. Shouldn't I use a KG2 CF-RooT?
anyway, i will try the KG1 CF-Root.
BTW, u mentioned flash back the KG2 kernel, how can I get the kernel? The non-wipe version has only one tar file....
Thanks

Thanks, mate.
It seems our posts got crossed.
Is there any way that I can get the original KG2 kernel? It seems that thread has a complete firmware.
Hi mates,
Could you please review the followings b4 I start?
1. Fire up Odin to flash CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG1-v4.1-CWM4.tar (I believe I will get the yellow triangle after the flash?)
2. Use Odin to flash back the original kernel: KERNEL_I9100XXKG2_CL375027_REV02_user_low_ship.tar .md5
3. Use the CWM App to flash the zImage kernel extracted from the CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG1-v4.1-CWM4.tar
Are the above correct?
Thanks
It is very strange.
I still get stuck at the Get Pit for Mapping?
I was using the CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG1-v4.1-CWM4.tar..

How are you flashing ? You have to select PDA and choose the tar file. Also make sure you don't select re-partition.

I don't think that is right.
Instructions as taken from Chainfire's topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Instructions - ODIN (short)-
- Flash CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG1-v4.1-CWM4.tar as PDA in ODIN, without repartition. Done.
The zip you need is named:
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG1-v4.1-CWM4.zip
This zip contains:
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG1-v4.1-CWM4.tar
Mind you that after downloading the zip file, some programs wil try to automatically extract the tar inside it. Then you end up with the zimage.
Make sure to not do that
For flashing back the original KG2 kernel, take the kernel from the package as I described above.
KERNEL_I9100XXKG2_CL375027_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
Flash as PDA in ODIN without repartition, same as flashing CF-ROOT.
Done.

I flashed the CF-Root KF4 kernel b4.
So I am sure I did follow the instructions step by step.
Yes, I chose the tar file in the PDS field, re-partition was not selected.
I have tried numerous times. It is just stuck at Get Pit for mapping sth....
b4, I used the KG2 CF-Root file, so I am not surprised I failed thanks to Tr1gg3R and Tanmay®.
However, I still get stuck though I used the KG1 CF-Root file........

Hi Sileshn, if that is correct, could you please explain me why he should flash the CF-ROOT twice?
In step 1, he does so via ODIN.
In step 3, he extracts the tar and flashes it again via CWM.
I'm not sure I understand that
Please elaborate.
Why overwrite the KG2 kernel again with the CF-ROOT KG1 kernel?

If you have a backup of what is currently on your S2, you could try reflashing the wipe-image.
Not the non-wipe from Intratech, but the one posted by Darkyy:
http://www.multiupload.com/G1GBNSDYJA
After that I would do a factory reset, just to make sure everthing is stock from the KG2 Firmware.
Then repeat flashing the KG1 CF-ROOT etc.
Very frustrated.
Didn't have any problem b4 when I flashed the CF-Root KF4.
And Tr1gg3R,
I cant even pass Step 1 that I mentioned previously.
That 3-step instruction is what I summarize from Chainfire's link.
The 3rd step summarized from the below (chainfire's post):
Getting rid of that pesky warning triangle during boot
It is definitely possible to remove that pesky warning triangle during boot when running a custom kernel, though you should be well aware that this method does NOT reset the custom kernel flash counter. The steps are not complicated, but they aren't easy either, so read well.
(1) Make sure you have CF-Root flashed (see the first post). You must have the "CWM Manager" app available.
(2) Make sure you have the same version of CF-Root extracted until you have the zImage file. (ZIP --> extract --> TAR --> extract --> zImage).
(3) Push the zImage file to /sdcard . It must still be called zImage !
(4) Find an original Samsung signed stock kernel (preferably from the same stock firmware you have, but it's not terribly important)
(5) Reboot into download mode (adb reboot download, or boot the device with home and volume-down pressed)
(6) Fire up ODIN, and flash the Samsung kernel
(7) Boot the device with the stock kernel. CWM Manager will still be available.
(8) Start CWM Manager, select Flash Kernel, and select the zImage from CF-Root you previously put on your SD-card. The kernel will flash and the device will reboot.
(9) You will now notice you no longer have the warning triangle during boot, but you are actually running CF-Root with all it's goodies!
(10) In the future, if you only use the Flash Kernel option inside CWM Manager instead of ODIN, the triangle will not return, neither will your flash counter increase. But keep in mind, that CWM Manager can only handle a direct "zImage" if you are NOT running a kernel with full busybox support (this is currently needed for flashing kernels out of .TAR and .ZIP files)

Yeah, I do have the backup. However, it is in Titanium Backup. I need root access
I am a bit reluctant to do a clean wipe is because what if I still cannot flash the KG1 CF-Root....
I planned to do a non-wipe upgrade then root the phone. Then do a factory reset and finally restore from Titanium.........
It seems i got s crewed this time....
You could try to ask for help in the CF-Root topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Sorry that all the above didn't solve your troubles.
Worst-case, reflash/factory-reset.
But that doesn't seem so bad to me.
Most can be redownloaded from the market, and the rest you could put on your SD-card.

Try entering recovery mode after flashing stock kernel over cf-root without the third step and see if you can access cwm.

So I am not to NOOB but I sure acted like it last night when I was way tired and tried to flash a ROM. Here is what I did...
I didn't catch that I didn't have the CWM but that I had booted into the stock recovery tool... Well I didn't before it was to late that is...
I clicked WIPE DATA
I clicked WIPE CACHE
Then noticed there was no "install from SD"
So it seems like whatever I find to install from ODIN I can't get the CWM to install so I can then flash a ROM!
I need my phone up for work, I am in HOT SH!T!
How can I either flash a rom via stock recovery "update format" OR install CMW via ODIN?
PLEASE HELP ASAP!!
Thank you
why don't you just flash again via odin and then root your phone via odin as well?
Don't quite understand whats your problem. So what if you wiped data and cache the rom is still there. Reboot normally and flash cfroot according to your firmware and then you should have cwm up and running. After that flash desired rom and the end.

Flash one of the CF-Root kernels through Odin, whichever one matches the firmware you're running. They have CWM baked in, along with root so you can flash a ROM afterwards.
If you can't get into download mode, turn your phone off, plug it in and hold down + power + home and it should boot into download mode. Then you can flash with Odin.
I thought the same thing, that so what that I wiped them... but when I rebooted the phone it just sits at the "Rethink possible screen"
I can get into download mode and I did find the "cf" post but I dunno what kernel I am running as I can't boot to go into settings to seek.
if you in recovery mod choose reboot, and it will be ok, than read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399,
or put in download mod: turn your phone off, hold down + power + home. Then flash with Odin.
I know you probably don't want to, but you can try doing a factory reset, that should allow you to get your phone up and running. If you have gmail installed it should put all your contacts back, as long as you backed up to gmail.
If you have an old copy of titanium backup you won't loose ALL your apps, this is why I tend to back up every weekend, I'm only a week behind with everything if problems arise....
Cheers...
Flash stock rom... Download cwm and flash with odin.... Then instal rom u want with cwm...

like I said, I am not a noob, just made a mistake...
I found the cf-kernel page, but I dunno what kernel I am running and so I dunno what kernel to flash (It seems vital)
"just rebooting" don't work lol I wish... it hangs at the "rethink possible" boot screen...
I was rooted but running the stock rom, if I can get CWM installed I think I will be golden, but whatever I seem to flash from ODIN don't work :-( no matter what nothing will flash as "PDA" but when I flash using "phone" it seems to install "zimage" which is the embedded file and succeeds and phone reboots... but still only to the rethink possible point.
flash any stock firmware then flash supercore 2.0 and do whatever you want from there
Think i know what the problem is,i have same issue sometimes, try flashing anogher rooted Kernel through odin, make sure its like if the rom is a kj3 that it has a kj3 kernel.see if that works

Reboot system now

been in similar, if not same situation, things were missing from cwm recovery, like you wrote...if memory serves me fine,
flash stock fw with pit, repartition and everything...
then some rootec kernel with recovery...

Not responding at all now :-(
let's go in a safe way...as long as you have download mode, you're OK.
Go to samfirmware or somewhere on XDA and find FULL STOCK FIRMWARE with proper .pit file and flash it with odin. Not kernel, not anything that is not full rom.

Hello everyone,
I know this question showed up a couple of times before, but I'm confused about the whole situation.
I own a Note3 International version bough from an official Samsung retailer in Poland.
Updated to 4.4 KitKat through official Samsung OTA update and a month later decided to go with a custom room. Installed TWRP and Omega 14 rom. Everything is fine, but I can't flash any modem.
Currently I'm running XXUENB1 modem and tried flashing the latest XXUEND6 from Omega repos and XXUENC2 from ALEXNDR development base, but with no sucess.
Tried flashing two times with Odin and than pulling the battery etc. The modem version stays the same. In download mode, it says write protection enabled, is it of any concern?
Is it possible to flash a modem on my Note 3?
Thanks for any help.

Under some conditions it seems that modems are hard to be written on phones with certain bootloaders and a custom recovery - but with stock recovery it seems to work better (and it also works with Mobile Odin Pro).
Right, so I tried the Odin Pro and it says after booting to recovery "Memory lock in place - TriangleAway may fix this. Skipping flash."
So I downloaded TriangleAway, did its magic, but with no result.
Still can't flash because of memory lock.
What can I do next?
Should I flash a stock rom with never modem like this one?

Use triangle away. Even if the counter is zero, thew is a hidden counter that trips a write protect on the modem. After triangle away, it should work. Just be sure to follow the directions.

Yeah, your're right, I've messed it up completely.
Flashed a stock kernel, triangle away and odin pro... everything is fine. Flashed like crazy
Anyway manged to flashed the modem from XXUENC2 from ALEXNDR development base which is around 60MB's and has modem and modem #2 partitions. Question is how can I flash the modems from omega repos which are only 8MB and have one partition only. When flashing with Odin Pro version doesn't change, although flash is a success.

Are they modem.bin or the non-hlos files? Id really recommend doing modem flashes through desktop odin, especially if they're piece meal modems and not a full stock modem flash file.

If you still have a problem flashing the Modem, I used this 5 min. ago and it worked perfectly fine(used flashing instruction from x-note)
Download Odin3 v3.09 to your pc, download Modems from Omega(I used NC2) both GSM & LTE.
Put Odin and the Modems from Omega on PC Desktop.
Turn off your Cell Phone (power off normally). Take out your battery(wait 5 sec.) put it back in and boot in download mode(volume down+home+power) and than connect your phone to pc.
Open Odin and press AP and choose the GSM tar file from Omega.
Press start and wait for the phone to reboot.
Turn the phone off again and boot in download mode (same steps as before). Now look for the LTE tar file in AP and press start again.
You should now have your Modem Installed. Good luck mate
Sorry if this is a simple question; What I want to know is, do I have to use some recovery mod and flash from the SD card, or can I simply flash custom ROMs from odin 3.09, the same as I did for my stock rom?
Specifically Imperium ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706844&nocache=1
Many thanks.

Sorry if this is a simple question; What I want to know is, do I have to use some recovery mod and flash from the SD card, or can I simply flash custom ROMs from odin 3.09, the same as I did for my stock rom?
Specifically Imperium ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706844&nocache=1
Many thanks.

You always need a custom recovery to flash roms from either your internal or external sd card
I'd suggest philz recovery just flash the .tar file from here in odin then enter recovery & flash away
Not sure if you have rooted your phone as yet if not follow this link first
Okay, I never used a custom recovery when flashing the stock rom.?
I can't just download and flash the rom in Odin from my pc then?

No bud you can't :crying:
You aren't flashing a stock rom it's a custom rom hence the custom recovery ?
Darn, and I thought it was all so easy!
Okay, I need to start looking how to put a custom recovery on then.
I have rooted it using Odin already yeah

Yeah just flash it in pda then flash rom from philz recovery then it's done just setup required
You won't need odin again unless you want to return to stock (which I doubt).
P.s you should like the imperium rom you've been lookin at

Thanks, its between that one and Purified with Domination theme (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454205). Not sure which to go for yet, it'll be down to style/reliability/stability/speed.
What I meant was, I can't flash the recovery in odin, then flash the new rom in odin too?

No just flash recovery in odin & then just use recovery (power/volume up) to flash rom. No need for odin again

Well i kind of know the rules of XDA.
But here's the catch, i have tried that method mentioned above.
Downloaded the .tar file and flashed via Odin. And now my phone is stuck on Samsung logo forever.
That's why posted here.
Here's some screenshots of odin

Hey
You are only flashing a kernel...not a full 4.4.2 original image.
And that's why you're stock on the boot logo.
Regards.

As mentioned you are flasing only kernel, i use odin 1.85
stock 5.0.1 roms mega mirrors http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...06-lolipop-official-samsung-firmware-t3023794 thanks to @Mar10
and tar files from 4.4.2 open nordic countries thanks to @DeHAWK
XXUCNJ11 https://mega.co.nz/#!cNE3nDSB!zjPWcM7OI-ltonzAuMKDdREinHr6ilm-ZBg0oqxD2k8
XXUCNI1 https://mega.co.nz/#!1EtAWTQB!zHVAwXe3odz6ipvhZmpdSXUnTKy1w_oYRpRlRMRa6DQ
take the battery out wait 5-10 secs and enter to download mode to avoid modem issues.
its not recomendable but if you have a backup of a pit file for your phone select it and thick re-partition, this is dangerous but may help with bootloop only if flashing the firmware with no repartition work, repartition with out a pit file may brick your device.

I will give it a try and let you know the results.
One more noob question..
I did a back up of my touchwiz before converting to CM.
And i got the back up file as normal file folder instead a zip file.
I wonder if there is a way to restore it.
I already tried zipping it and restoring from philz recovery...but it says bad file.

you´re welcome.
did you do the backup from philz recovery? i never did a backup from recovery, only with titanium, so i really dont know, but to restore a backup needs to be done from the same source that the backup was created. for the screen shots looks like a CWM recovery backup good luck.

Anyway i flashed the full image with odin..(taken from your link).
And back to touchwiz again.

Sorry to bother you again.
But i am facing a new kinda problem now with custom recoveries.
After flashing NEE-I9506XXUCNJ1-20141114075501 yesterday it got auto updated to 5.0.1 lollipop .
Now i am stuck with stock recovery.
Tried to flash philz 6.x.x.x as before with odin. The odin process completes itself and reboots the phone.
But when i try to get into recovery still its booting in stock recovery.
Any solution on how can i flash custom recovery on this ?
Additional info
Baseband version : I9506XXUDOA6
bUILD NUMBER : LRX22C. I9506XXUDOA6
Flash your Favorite Custom Recovery with Odin 3.xx and put it to AP. Check that Auto Reboot isn't marked. After successful flashing your Phone won't to reboot. USB Cable out and put your Battery out and wait few seconds. Put your Battery in and reboot it to Recovery. The Stock Recovery can't now overwrite the Custom Recovery.

in lollipop i used TWRP recovery (TWRP_2.8.4.0_ks01lte_20150207.tar.md5)https://www.mediafire.com/folder/p3rwwfm7xn76x/TWRP flashed with odin 1.85 no problems.
but after rooting with cf autoroot http://download.chainfire.eu/502/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-ks01lte-ks01ltexx-gti9506.zip( extract and flash with odin in pda) because cf autorrot flash stock recovery after rooting.
Important after rooting flash immediately custom recovery, if you boot in stock recovery after root all apps will force close and you will need to wipe data (stock recovery wipe data will delete internal memory as well), so do not boot in stock recovery.
