Swapping between Fascinate and iPhone? - Fascinate General

I got a smoking deal on a iPhone 4 from a buddy and and activated it on my account. I could not use the *228 to switch back to my Fassy though I had to call Verizon to do so. Is this common (verizon said no)? I would like to be able to switch back and forth like I did with my Fassy and my DX. If anyone knows that's great! Thanks!
BTW I still think the Fassy is better.

Text problem

Anyone port their number over from a different carrier...specifically T-Mobile? I can make and receive calls with no problem. No texts. When I send one from my other phone, it won't send either. Any ideas?
I transferred my number from tmobile and currently have no problems. I suggest calling verizon!

Damn...I wanted to avoid that. Will do though!
All good on the western front, here. Then again, I xferred from AT&T; not T-Mobile.
So you guys that came form ATT and T-moble chose the X over the Galaxy S phones. May I ask why?

Still no release date announced for Galaxy S on Verizon. (VZ name: Fascinate)
I was anxious to get a new phone. If the Fascinate comes out before it has been 30 days on my Droid X, I might very well return it and get the Galaxy S. I kind of want the Galaxy S more than the Droid X, but there are a couple of things I'm a bit OCD about. One is the hardware buttons; I REALLY dislike soft touch buttons, which is what the Galaxy S has, whereas the Droid X has hardware buttons. I discovered one other thing I like a lot about the Droid X after I bought it, too; the GPS chip in it is insanely powerful for a cell phone. It triangulates like instantly and is very fast and up-to-date. I was quite surprised when I tested it earlier today, it worked amazingly well. I'm still mad at Motorola about the whole root/bootloader thing, but if you take that out of the equation, it's a hell of a phone.

Well, for me Motoblur is lagging like hell,
The GPS takes some time to get my position in maps,
And the screen becomes unreponsive at times, have to turn screen off and back on,.
I HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM!!!
I ported from Boost and could not send or receive texts, by any chance, did you get your droid x at best buy??
I called verizon customer service and the rep said "oh looks like somebody put a block on your account, let me take that off for you" and BAM it works

I'm having none of those problems...have you tried checking for updates + restarting the phone? The GPS in particular worked spectacularly for me with the car dock app. It was amazingly accurate and quick.
Whats the number to call for Verizon?
Well, the other poster was right. For some reason Best Buy had my account blocked for text messages. Works now! Thanks for the heads up!

Leaving Sprint for ATT issues with porting number over.

I finally received my Atrix from Bestbuy online and I have to say, so far I really like it coming from the Evo. However, when I got the phone and set everything up, I discovered that bestbuy didn't port my Evo's phone number over to the Atrix.
Do anyone know if I can still get it ported over or if it's too late?

Yes. Just call AT&T and have them port your Sprint number over. They will do that and once it's done you will no longer have Sprint service. I did the exact same thing. Not a problem. As long as you didn't cancel your Sprint service.

Thanks for replying to my thread and helping me out. So even though I already have a new number with the Atrix, they can still port my number over?
I haven't canceled the service on my Evo yet. I'm going to sell it after I get my number ported over.
**Update**
Well I called ATT and they told me that they can't port my number over. They said that I will have to get a 2nd line then have my Sprint number ported over to that line. Which means that I will have to pay another deposit and so forth. I don't understand why they can't just port it and the ATT rep doesn't either. She said that I should be able to do it.
**Finally got it ported over after the 3rd call**
I switched from sprint. No prob switching number

You just learned a valuable lesson about AT$T. Keep calling back in hopes of getting the answer you want lol. The catchy new AT$T slogan is right on the money, ironically. ;-)

fascinating

I was just at the verizon store here, and was told that I could get a refurb of a droid x, incredible or a charge, since I have been having the missed calls issue. Just wanted some thoughts on what you think. I like the charge's screen, but am a little concerned with another sammy (no update, etc), and not a fan of the cosmetics. Just looking for some debate on what phone to change to, if any.
It's really all up to you but if you're looking for the best hardware specs charge wins. Screen size charge wins too.
It's not really all that though, but clearly superior to the other two.
Charge doesnt have CM7 available if you're a cm7 guy
I would be happy to exchange my Fascinate for a Charge. I love my Fascinate, but the missed call thing is really hard to deal with. I am on my 2nd replacement phone right now, and it "seems" like its a "little" better, but I might just be kidding myself. I still missed a call on Sunday night when I had the phone right next to me on the table.

Take it into a verizon store, and tell them you want a new phone. They didn't even blink. You get those three phone options, Charge, Incredible2 or Droid x. Tell them you can't be missing calls because of work. They have a bulletin telling them to exchange.

So is it the incredible and droid x or the incredible 2 and droid x 2? Also do we have to go into a store our can we just call?

different people say they get offered different phones... some get a choice for new ones, some old and it is also a mixed bag as to whether its over the phone or in person... I personally won't give up my fascinate for any current phone, I could care less about how many processors it has or if its 3G or 4G. the things that matter to me are the beautiful SAMOLED screen and how easy it is to modify
edit: the only other phone right now I may consider would be the Charge

I got absolutely nothing from the stores around here. Called 3 of them, they all knew nothing about it. One even offered up that I check Craigslist if I don't like my phone. lol

Stop calling the store... Call 611 and hit zero. Just bs with them so you go to tier 2 tech support. Tier 2 will check for known issues and find that missed calls are a known software issue. They will then give you a choice to wait for the software patch later this month that will fix the issue or exchange for a different device. You will have a choice between the charge, incredible 2, or droid x 2.

I am updating as many forums I can with the following information:
We have updated our policy on handling missed calls very recently for the Fascinate.
We normally don't request people to call in,but if you are reading this, that may be your best option. Call 800-922-0204 option 3 for tech support. Choose the option foradvanced devices and PDAs. This will get you to tech support.
We do have different options available for customers experiencing this issue while we work on the permanent fix to this problem.
You also have the option to PM me with your cell number, and I'd be happy to review this in detail via phone call or PM.
Thanks for you patience. I know this has been a rocky road for some of you.

Does this exchange cost an upgrade, or do we have to pay anything out of pocket for this?
I bought my phone off craigslist and I'm experiencing the missed calls issue. Will they help me out as well or is this only for people who bought the phone directly from Verizon?

yes it will i bought both my fascinate and my girlfriend's fascinate off Craigslist
What I did after about three attempts at getting a different phone other than the fascinate was call Customer Service and went straight to retention to say I wanted to cancel my service. I was asked why and I explained all the problems with my phone (missed calls, phone freezing, etc). The rep asked what she could do to keep me with them and I told her that I needed to be able to actually receive the service I pay for each month. She was gonna try to factory reset and I told her not to waste her time because I've already tried that. Tell them you've basically tried any kind of troubleshooting with the phone and that it didn't work. Then tell them you're not interested in another fascinate to replace the one you currently have because it's the phone that is the problem. They should then offer you the choice of a charge, droid x2, or droid incredible 2.
I wonder if its possible to do this at best buy since thats where I bought my fascinate.
yeah same here i bought mine on black friday at BB
If you get a charge they will remove your data plan and put it back on for 4G. Meaning you will lose unlimited data.

From my understanding on verizon twitter some time ago, people who has unlimited plan from before the price change can still use it for 4g.

New phone suggestions

Hey dudes. Well, getting the itch for something new. After having my Epic 4g for over a year (and the fact I'm a phone whore) thinking of switching from crapola Sprint to Verizon. Network has been crappy to say the least in the last months. I've tried a multitude of roms, themes, but can't seem to shake it. Be that as it may, anybody in the same boat?
Any suggestions on what to get? I've been seeing the Prime talk and all, but who knows how long that will be before it comes out. I was looking at the Bionic, being that I can't upgrade to the Epic Touch, and again the crappy Sprint network. Any other suggestions?
Sorry to be leaving you all in a few weeks, it's been a nice run

Really? recommend AT&T?!?! I've been begging work to ditch their contract with AT&T and move to verizon so I could actually use the phone they provide me.
Just got the woman setup with the Droid 3 on VZW. It's nice and fast, but the custom rom scene is nonexistant yet.. The stratosphere should be out this weekend (so you don't miss yer epic too much lol) and i've heard a couple other phones are headed to VZW soon worth lookin into as well.

I'm just gonna pony up 120 bucks and pay the cancellation fee...tired of my friends and family saying that I'm breaking in and out of reception.
I'm thinking the Bionic right now. Was thinking the Droid 3, but after looking at both, I like the size of the Bionic. I looked at reviews on the Stratosphere, but it's not looking to "Next Gen" Best Buy told me that they would match the price of one I saw on Amazon Wireless at 130, so I can't wait for payday

I hate it but.....

I hate to do it because I love my EVO 4G phone but tomorrow I will most likely jump ship and go back to Big Red. Sprint service in the Greensboro, NC has gotten really bad in the last year or so. I do a lot of social media because of my business and it takes forever to bring any web pages up. I will be getting a Rezound. Closest thing to my EVO.
This is the longest I ever had a smart phone without wanting to trade up. The phone has done everything I ever asked for and more. And the support in XDA had been second to none. You guys rock! I wish I could just port the number and the phone to Verizon. I sure hope the REzound will be half as good as my SOS N EVO!
I did the same thing you are doing. Got tired of sprints bullish*t internet so went to Verizon and got the rezound. I do miss my evo a lot, but I love the camera, display, and blazing 4g. It's well worth the monthly bill
