Is the kindle a QVGA device or an HVGA one? I have tried googling it but can't seem to find any info.
Also what is the difference between QVGA and HVGA? Which is better?
Wow. QVGA is ANCIENT! I had it on my htc vogue, and HVGA is old as well, I had it on my samsung moment with an AMOLED display.
The kindle fire has a resolution of 1024x600, making it WSVGA
Ok well i was trying to download a game to side load to my kindle and I wasn't sure whether to download the QVGA or the HVGA version.
OR will neither work with the fire?
Thanks for your help.
HVGA is a higher resolution, so that one will look less pixilated.
Download HVGA

LOL!
It's QVGA because the screen has a quarter (a fourth) of a VGA resolution. VGA has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 960 pixel. Well, the touch and also the nike have a resolution of 320 x 240 which is exactly a quarter VGA. That's the reason why it's called QVGA... not because the graphics are not better than your monitor

is the htc touch hd capable of high definition play back like the Samsung Omnia i900 or is it called hd for some other reason

Well, NEITHER of the two can play HD, as (full)HD has a resolution of 1920x1080.The HD's resolution is 800x480. The omnia's is even lower! 400x240. Besides, they can't handle the bitrates that come with HD.

I wonder if any one here had found out games which works on hvga resolution on hd mini
if yes, let me know, which games are tested to work on this resolution
How about some convertor, like VGA OR QVGA TO HVGA which would emulate the games in hvga resolution..
Help... i think that getting this cell is of no use as no applications are designed for this resolution
Mac..

Hi. Just got a new HD10 specifically because I need the 1920x1200 resolution. But it is not currently functioning in that resolution, which is quite obvious by the fact that my stuff doesn't fit on the screen. Went to www.whatismyandroidversion.com and it shows the resolution is 1280x800. Checked wm size in ADB and it says 1920x1200. I have tried googling for a solution, but all I ever get is thousands of useless blogs listing the specifications. So hoping someone here knows what's going on.
How can I actually get the 1920x1200 resolution? Thx.

Do you want to see a native resolution of your Fire tablet?
You can use AIDA64 to view it:
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.finalwire.aida64
AIDA64 website: https://www.aida64.com/downloads/latesta64droid
know what the native resolution is, it is 1920x1200. But the browsers are only using 1280x800.
So I think this is happening because the device pixel ratio is 1.5. But I cannot figure out how to change this. There is no display scaling in settings, and it doesn't appear to be an ADB command either.
Got it. The pixel density in ADB was 240. 240 / 1.4 = 160. So wm density 160 brought the scale back to 1:1 and the browser is using the full resolution now.
