LatinIME.apk v2.3.7 latest version from latest cyanogenmod 7 262 nightly build.
I just added Greek Dictionary. It works fine at my HTC Desire.
How to install:
1. Navigate to /system/app using Root Explorer and copy your existing LatinIME.apk to a backup folder in your SD card (just to be sure, should things go wrong).
2. Use Root Explorer to mount /system/app as R/W and then paste the new LatinIME.apk inside this folder. Change the file's permissions to rw-r--r-- after pasting.
3. Reboot your device and go to Settings > Language & Keyboard > Android Keyboard > Input Languages. Under Greek, it should now say "Dictionary available".

Nice job man, would it be possible to add a Dutch Dictionary? I like the kb from cm7 262 nightly build because they've added a dutch/belgium keyboard, that comes with azerty, in Belgium we have azerty and in the Netherlands they have qwerty.
unfortunately there isn't a dutch dictionary included. If you would make that happen I would be grateful. I you wouldn't, well I understand ;-)

Hello,
Is it possible to extract the new Greek keyboard (SIP) and T9 from the newly released WM6.5 ROM for htc Topaz and use it in Leo?
I've tried - unsuccessfully - to do so, in order to install the Greek keyboard and T9 LDB to my Leo. The Leo comes with ROM 1.43.405.1 WWE.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello again.
Is it possible to include a Greek T9 dictionary with this Greek keyboard?
Keep in mind that there is a limitation on that. You can not send 160 greek characters per sms with this keyboard yet, it is limited to 70. We are searching for a solution on that.

The greek keyboard as well as the greek T9 are already pre-installed in your device. Some image files are missing however, and as a result of that you can not activate Greek language unless you either install the missing images (tsipistri's post) or modify the greek xml files to link to the english images.
These 2 solutions are posted here
I have not tested T9 with tsipistri's solution yet, but with the changed xml files T9 works flawlessly.
Regarding 160 sms, it seems right now that there is no ability for the ezinput application to write in GSM encoding. So, if you need 160 sms you can use Finger keyboard.
Hmmm Greek affiliates from Cosmote and from Chios island....
Well the Greek Leo ROM is out on my hands lads...why such an effort for extra cab files...

This will be possible with either a new SMS-oriented on-screen keyboard or a in-memory solution patch (like the one used by ACE Hellas) where non-GSM characters are swapped with the correct ones.
For the time being, I have no problem sending Greek SMS of 160 by simply employing some common logic: typing always in UPPERCASE English and switching to Greek uppercase only for the non-latin characters.

Amazing idea! It works. I know how to fix it now.
Stay tuned for a working version with 160 sms. I will release it very soon.
English - Greek ezinput keyboard with ability to send 160 characters in greek sms
Instructions
1) Uninstall any other version of this or tsipistri's keyboard
2) Install the attached cab file
3) Click on the white box next to the space bar in order to change between Greek and English Unicode letters.
4) From either English or Greek keyboard click on 12# box in order to write sms with 160 Greek capital letters
5) All removed symbols have been relocated to ABC menu or to page 2 of 12# menu
I am now working on an alternative version that will include 3 different keyboards (Greek, Greek SMS & English)
Great job Step2p, I will try it when I'm back home
Thank you very much for your efforts.
A red skin version with some bugs corrected.
If you haven't noticed it yet, long press entries are already activated in the sms keyboard. If you long press the capital letters you will enter the symbols that normally appear above them.
The file size is larger due to the included skin images.

Hi Step2p.
Many thanks for providing this nice keyboard.
There seems to be a problem when using it though, described originally here. The thread suggests that the problem is related to a registry hack, however, I have confirmed that I have the same problem irrespective of the registry setting. I am only noticing this behavior when using the greek keyboard.
Do you think you could have a look?

Hi,
It's great to see the Nexus is already been rooted; great job!!! Would it be possible for you master chefs to bake in some more languages, especially Dutch? Don't really care about the system language, but it would come in handy with the onscreen keyboard...
The Nexus currently support very little languages en More Locale doesn't seem to work for me...
Search the forums.
1 - If only keaboard - install HTC_IME and adb shell -> edit /data/data/htc.ime.android.htcime/shared_prefs/com.* and change number of keyboard to dutch (search for correct, 9=swedish)
2 - Install More Locale
- Install morelocale 2
- Install better keyboard
- install language pack for better keyboard
- set language to dutch in morelocale
- Enable better keyboard in setting
- Use long press in text input field to switch to better keyboard keyboard
- Enjoy dutch corrector
Werkt prima
The HTC_IME doesn't seem to be working for me (I didn't on my G1 as well), but better keyboard does the job!
Would it be possible in future ROM's to include additional languages or is a official release in Dutch needed?
I thinking on importing the Nexus One from US to The Netherlands soon. This because our provider "Vodafone" does not mention a definitive release date... only that they will release the nexus one "later this year".
By importing the Nexus One I hope that I can change the language of T9 of the keyboard to dutch so it suggests dutch words. Is this possible? Are the dutch language files already baked into the Nexus One stock ROM?
What do you guys suggest me to do? Wait for official release or import it from US and install additional language (if required)?
Thanks!

Flash it with the Cyanogen ROM (or another based on the AOSP) then that includes dutch (& many more).
Original ROM only supports english en some other ones but no dutch
How to get Dutch is explained in different thread
See thread 624416 (sorry, can't post links)
Hi! Is there any ROM that supports the greek language (menus+keyboard) for the Nexus One?
Try CM 5.0.5.3 Rom (which has native greek language support) and for greek keyboard see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654179
Try here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624416
remember to add ".htcime" file on the root of the sd card and edit it to include the languages you want.

Hello
First of all sorry for my bad English!
it's a big problem that Android devices cannot show arabic/persian letters!
but developers has fixed this problems on some devices! (Legend/Nexus One/Xperia X10 and ...) and Samsung Devices support this languages officaily!
Now, What's the fix for Wildfire!?
i, my self has tried some ways, i know it is depended on two things:
1. Font (totally Fixed, No Problem!)
2. lip (here is my problem!)
i have copied good fonts to Rom files (make/edit a zip) and then flash my cooked rom with my favorite font, now my device can show arabic/perisan letters BUT separately!
i did the same way (copy file to rom zip and then flash!) with lib files, letters was good but Gallery and Browser and some other apps did'n work (Force Close!)
there is 3 lib file that they are related to this problem:
libskia.so
libskiagl.so
libwebcore.so
Important: In CM rom everything is OK! Persian/Arabic Rom are showing true!
My Another Problem: Because of this problem i cannot test some different lib files to rich to good result: When i want to replace lib file in Root Explorer, i see an error: "not enough space" so i forced to copy my lib files to a zip file (rom) and flash it to test! it's so CRAZY! What's the solution?!
Point: there is a Official Arabic HTC Rom for Legend and i know it has cooked by developers for Hero, is here anyone to see them and try to cook one rom for Wildfire!?
thanks so much and
keep your nice work!
I did find a Arabic rom from a Arabic forum which it supports Persian letters so well and has English menus and a fantastic bilingual (English/Persian) keyboard, now I'm using that!
You can find my topic here:

Could you please paste here the link to download that rom (arabic/persian for wildfire) ? I'm not iranian so that I could not read parsi.
CM
But the browser in CM doesn't support arabic
the letters appears not connected!
Java Util class for Farsi/Arabic letters for Android
I have created a Util class that reshapes the arabic, persian, farsi, dari letters to correct glyphs. Find more at:
ahmad-iv.blogspot
Edit:
I cannot post a link right now...
Its easier to flash to CM7 or use Arabic Eclair rom. There is also custom roms that supports Parsi/Arabic languages.
So,
It seems like Samsung has introduced a new way for supporting languages on the Galaxy S3.
If you go inside the language settings you will see a nice bunch of languages.
But! Those are not all the available languages on the phone!
There are 5(!) more languages you can "unlock" in 2 ways.
The languages are:
Arabic (ar)
Farsi (fa)
Hebrew (iw)
Japanese (ja)
Thai (th)
Vietnamese (vi)
Chinese (zh)
The easy way to enable them is to download the application "morelocale2" and add to choose or add the language code you want.
With this method you will not see these languages in your language settings.
To enable these languages in the language setting of your phone, you will need to root it.
you can use Chainfires method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660918
The next step is to use root explorer or any other familiar application and go into /system/csc.
There is a file there named languages.xml.
If you open the file you will see a list of languages to display.
Just add your desired language code from the list above (in 2 places in the file) + country code, reboot, and then you will see that language in your language setting!
good luck!
Another way, you can flash XXLEF to enable some hidden languages. Change modem will change your languages support
It's not the modem, it's the CSC file

Ah ok! I forgot that I flashed ZS firmware
Well..i used the "morelocale2" method and i found them added in the "language settings" rebooted and they are still there, my rom is XXALE9
Back in the days of i9000 and Froyo, my country was only having Froyo 2.2 while many other countries were already having 2.2.1. What I did was decompiling all the 2.2 system apps, and implanting the languages into the 2.2.1, and thereby creating a genuine feeling of having a 2.2.1 rom with my area locale. Though not 100% fit, but at least it was better than using the Morelocale app.
Refer to this link for the details of how to do it.
Though we are talking about different phones and different Android system since then, but I believe the methodology is the same.
But there is no need to do that here, as the xml files are already inside the rom, just not enabled.
I gave the instruction on how to enable them
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

You have to go to settings in ES Explorer and scroll down to root settings and also check "Mount File System". I was able to save the file after adding the codes for Chinese, but after I rebooted the phone, there still was no option for Chinese.
and what about the keyboard?
hi, i'm new here.
i added my language and it's working great.

you can use this app Wanam just made:

thanks but i don't want to use an app for this.
i've already edited the language file so i do have my language as a display language.
i still don't have it as an input language in Samsung's default keyboard. there is a way to enable it?
I tried to added the languages to the CSC file and also tried the applications .. but nothing worked for me..
I have Sprint Samsung S3 FreeGS3 Rom (Stock rooted)
Of course my version of the GS3 phone is SPH-L170 but I don't see why that would be a problem?
Is there anyway to enable Arabic in the languages tap and the keyboard?
I use hackers keyboard and that works fine with Arabic but I want the stock one to have it as well.
Thank.
Still waiting for someone to help..
Use the morelocale2 app but it only changed the language in a couple of apps that's about it.
