(Dutch) Language Settings baked in - Nexus One General

Hi,
It's great to see the Nexus is already been rooted; great job!!! Would it be possible for you master chefs to bake in some more languages, especially Dutch? Don't really care about the system language, but it would come in handy with the onscreen keyboard...
The Nexus currently support very little languages en More Locale doesn't seem to work for me...

Search the forums.
1 - If only keaboard - install HTC_IME and adb shell -> edit /data/data/htc.ime.android.htcime/shared_prefs/com.* and change number of keyboard to dutch (search for correct, 9=swedish)
2 - Install More Locale

- Install morelocale 2
- Install better keyboard
- install language pack for better keyboard
- set language to dutch in morelocale
- Enable better keyboard in setting
- Use long press in text input field to switch to better keyboard keyboard
- Enjoy dutch corrector
Werkt prima

The HTC_IME doesn't seem to be working for me (I didn't on my G1 as well), but better keyboard does the job!
Would it be possible in future ROM's to include additional languages or is a official release in Dutch needed?

I thinking on importing the Nexus One from US to The Netherlands soon. This because our provider "Vodafone" does not mention a definitive release date... only that they will release the nexus one "later this year".
By importing the Nexus One I hope that I can change the language of T9 of the keyboard to dutch so it suggests dutch words. Is this possible? Are the dutch language files already baked into the Nexus One stock ROM?
What do you guys suggest me to do? Wait for official release or import it from US and install additional language (if required)?
Thanks!

Flash it with the Cyanogen ROM (or another based on the AOSP) then that includes dutch (& many more).
Original ROM only supports english en some other ones but no dutch

How to get Dutch is explained in different thread

doesn't work? (or what does it do, maybe I looked wrong)
could this be the reason?
THIS LANGUAGE PACK WILL WORK ON "nocert" ROMs ONLY!!!

This is the Dutch Language Pack for WM2005 nocert ROMs.
So I guess it won't work on the Magician

T9 Dutch (and other) languages on Sysrius R0

Hi
I'm looking for a way to have dutch t9 on my Polaris. Currently I have only managed to instal a bunch of cab's and completely ruin my settings and need to reflash to correct the mistakes I have mad (installing a cab with language from Diamond). Could somebody who already succeeded help me with a step by step tutorial?
I don't have a step by step tutorial, but I would be interested in translating to dutch too. I saw this thread some time ago, but didn't have the time yet to try it out. Did you try that?
Try the gullum keyboards. There is an instruction, the only thing that won't work is the Touch keypad.
I changed 3 registry entries:
- HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\AvailableLanguages
I deleted some of them, got "0109, 010C, 0113" typed in it.
- HKLM\Software\HTC\ezsip\Librarycount
I changed it to "5", then I deleted the entries: Library5 to Library14 (Just everything from 5 up)
- HKLM\Software\HTC\ezsip\Library4
Changed the value to "8"
Go to input and change the t9 setting to the empty bar, et voila you have dutch T9
Good luck!
ps Don't know why I changed the entries, have been messing around a lot with entries to get T9 working and this is an old habit with which I got my T9 to work
Hi, use the gullum keys and the attachted t9 dictionary.
OK, thanks for your replies. I would like to grade it down into steps. Could you help me in understanding. I put the steps down here and lookinig for verification.
1. Acquire a cab with dutch dictionary. Is this rom/device/keyboard specific?
2. Change the registry to look for Dutch language on the device
3. Change the library count to be able to show dutch language here
4. What is the value change in library 4 for???
Help is much appreciated
greek keyboard still not, working (I think Russian too). right ?
anyone knows somithing different?
OK, Im still not there. Based on tweaks & tricks topic, kartus thread above and the current settings on other languages I made the following registry changes / additions. I installed the Gullum Dutch language CAB and now I have Dutch language by choosing the empty option. How do I get the empty box to show Dutch instead of being empty. Instead of just fixing it for now I would really like to do it a 100%

I would like to know that too, how to get the line 'Dutch' in it. And also how to get the diamond keypad to work.
Why not wait for a dutch rom?
I know some people are working on it.

Custom Locale with AdvancedLauncher

Hi fellow xda users, this is my first question ever on xda.
As I'm running ROM of CyanogenMod v4.2.5 for the HTC Magic (PVT32B) I also installed HTC_IME.
And only the English dictionary was available for the HTC_IME keyboard.
I couldn't find a way to add other language dictionaries as they were actually already installed but on default disabled on a ROM.
I figured out to apply "nl" to Custom Locale to have a Dutch dictionary, that worked all fine. But it also effects language on some applications like AdvancedLauncher. A lot is mixed up with Dutch and English language, I know this isn't a big deal but I like things clean.
So is there a HTC_IME which includes all languages in the list?
Thanks in advance.
Nobody has a solution?

[Q] Is there any guide for changing the language of the ROM??

Hope flash english to chinese.Anyone can offer a guide about how to do this?
Thanks in advance!

It's quite easy, but it depends on the ROM you are using. Some ROMs support specific languages (locales). To change the locale go to phone's "Settings" app. Tap on "Locale and text" entry and then tap on "Select locale" entry. Select your desired locale and reboot the device.
Sadly I have not seen Chinese locale in SG3 ROMs (probably because I was never looking for it). There is Korean locale in most of SG3 ROMs. Try flashing a couple of stock ROMs to see if they have Chinese locale or wait if someone replies which ROM is he using to get Chinese locale...

Thank you all the same……
Maybe my description is not clear enough ,I mean how to make the ROM support chinese by modifing some files of the ROM.
My english is not good enough, hope you can understand……

Oh, that's another matter...This would include translation of the corresponding files in the framework, and the OS itself. All .apk(s) need to be translated, which considers decompiling and the recompiling the whole .apk, hunting down the GUI .xml(s), adding the translation and so on...Isn't there Chinese Android translation/localization?
...and I forgot one very important thing, the Chinese fonts and grammar! This can cause many compatibility issues. As I understand, Chinese characters cannot be translated respectively from Alphabetical characters. This would involve coding/writing a new/separate module for decoding and encoding Chinese characters. If Chinese is similar to Korean, this is the place to start. Word prediction and autocerrect software would have to be written also - for the keyboard, new keyboard layout etc...A lot of work (assuming there is no Chinese localization for Android).

Thx a lot.
There are people who do the translation work on the Internet. But they are not able to turn every ROM to chinese version, especially when i find a ROM which i like from xda. I think i should try to find out how they do the work and learn it……

List of Multilanguage XT9 Rom's

Hello everyone.
I'm a user of a Samsung GS2, and i love to experiment alittle with Roms etc, but my biggest problem is that so few custom roms have my xt9 language norwegian with the rom. I know a few Roms have it, but there isn't a list out there that i can check before i try it out and then hope it got my language. I also want to try out stock roms aswell and some of them even dont have my xt9 language norwegian. So i thought we could start a thread where we can have a list of custom roms and original roms with multilanguage xt9,or even listing the languages it have so its easier for people like me to find a rom where the language of the user is supported.
And yes guys, i know there is apps for keyboard with language support but the ones i try are not as good as stock. And to get a half descent one you even have to buy it..
I hope there is someone out there agreeing with me on this one and help me and others like me to get a richer experiance when it comes to using different roms and not concern about the xt9 language it may support.
I would Really appreciate if you could check your Phone while you read this thread and see if your Rom is Multi-language or not.
How to see it you ask? You got a hell of a lot of languages to choose from, not 10 more like 30+-
We could start i list of Roms and their language Support in this thread so i can edit them into a list where everyone can go and see if the Rom they want to try out have their language.

[ROM][2.3.4][XXKH3] Cognition S2] - Don't have Multi-language XT9
[ROM] [XXKH3] LeoMar75 Rom Revolution v2.6 - Have Multi-language XT9 - Thanks B3311
[ROM][KH3] TOUCH X-treme KH3 1.0 'PERFORMANCE' - Have Multi-language XT9
[ROM]CriskeloRomV14 - Have Multi-language XT9
I agree that it would be helpful if the devs listed every supported language for their ROMs.
From what I've seen and flashed, it seems that the Baltic and Scandinavian languages have the least support amongst the European languages.
Stock ROMs are another matter - since nearly all KG and all KH firmwares are unofficial, language support is going to depend on which country the leaked source comes from. Can't see a way around that.
FWIW, Leo's Revolution also supports Norwegian, the last official stock firmware to do so was KF3. I didn't try all the stock KG and KH releases and can't remember which ones I tried, but none of them had Norwegian.
Thanks for the info, ill add it to the list =)
smygel (Precious ) - not sure your "multilanguge" criteria is right.
Every ROM supports different languages/multilangages - a lack of Norwegian doesn't disqualify it.
Nice idea, but sort out what you want to list.
Ikke så lett
Well your right and wrong
When i first got the phone i had XWKE2 with a lot of language supported.
When i now try to flash back i'm only getting the "general set of languages"
The Rom coders even have to add the feature, because the Rom that they base their custom Rom on, don't have it.
Say your right, the idea of having a list of multi language is still something i would like to look for. The need of trying out the Rom to see if it got the language i want is kinda not an option for me. Don't wanna try the whole Custom Rom market to finally find a few that have the language support i need =)
And i KNOW not all coders even want or think about adding them hehe

I am lookin for a ROM that has French Canadian language
Hi Everybody!
I've been trying a lot of Samsung base ROM's since the last 6 weeks and did not find any that has the French Canadian language in it. Only French from France is included. I've been searching for a way to extract the French Canadian language from my provider stock firmware and did not find any solutions.
For now my only option is to install the application Any Locale and then change the language to French Canadian. Every time that I do a manufacturer reset on the phone I have to install Any Locale. I really need to fix that problem because I want to give my phone to somebody who speak French and the language French from France is annoying because of his AZERTY keyboard layout.
Thank you for your help!
