First sorry, this is a google translation
I was surprised and I hope I'm not wrong ..... perhaps this link is the source code of the Milestone 2?
sourceforge.net/projects/milestone.motorola/files/Milestone%202%20Latam/3.12.0/
And there is the kernel within those files
sourceforge.net/projects/milestone.motorola/files/Milestone%202%20Latam/3.12.0/kernel.tar.gz/download
We can use this to get cm7 and MIUI fully functional?
I think that with the locked boot loader, no.
But as for "fully functional" versions. Well MIUI for ms2 seemed nearly perfect, nearly no bugs. Yet official samsung galaxy s2 MIUI is fully of force closes and some random things I could not get to work.
Are we really missing out on anything? If something is missing, fair enough, but from my experience, the ms2 miui is much more stable than sgs2 official miui.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the main thing affecting is not being able to use custom kernels?

Maybe not, but that's not so easy as you think...
Ask tezet about the progress in 720p...
Or look for some CVPCS' posts about 720p recording on custom roms (in his blog, google it).

Yea, so now the Defy has CM7 and MIUI. Again, using 2nd init to run the ROMs. They pretty much have the two best ROMs IMO. If they can do this for the Defy, do you think that once Kholk has his bootloader bypass method all figured out we could also get CM7 and MIUI ported to the Atrix?

Sounds like you should buy a Defy.

Yea, we all know that. But do you think it'l be ported? It takes developers with a lot of time, Korean developers did all the ports for the Defy. I'm not sure if we have Korean developers...lol I'm sure someone will port one or the other, but it could be a while. It takes a ton of work matching CM7 or MIUI to our phones.
Well afaik, if atrix gets officially supported by cm7. Miui will support it
I can't wait for devs to start pouring in here. Hopefully our device will have as much development as much as the Samsung and HTC devices.

CM7 is right around the corner, folks.
This is very exciting news! When did work on this CM7 port begin?
thats for the droid x, and still needs alotta work , we need a dev to work on the full time and make similar progress
I know, but it's progress on a Motorola device
I'm not sure why people have the idea that if something works on one phone from the same manufacturer that it will work on them all. The Droid x shares nothing at all with the atrix. Ones opmap the other tegra2, nothing at all is shared other then the sticker.

From what I understand, the trick is porting CM7 so that it works on the Atrix's stock kernel. I imagine that's not a trivial undertaking.

Doesn't the Atrix use the same kernel as the Defy (2.6.39) - which also has a locked bootloader, but is running a fully functional (and to be soon officially supported) of CM7?

It may be running the same kernel version but there are surely differences in the kernel itself between the two devices. They have totally different hardware and need different modules at the least.
I'll admit I'm off into supposition territory as I haven't compiled a Linux kernel in years, and then only for my old P4, but I would think it would be the same/similar for our phones.

My point is that both of those other phones are able to run GB 2.3.4 on top of a locked down 2.2 via 2nd init which is now available for the Atrix.
It is no longer a matter of the Atrix not being able to run a full blown rom like CM7, but rather a matter of not having the developer support to make the port itself, don't you think?

Does

Yeah, I think so too. The kernel will allow all those things to be fixed, but some things will take longer to develop than others. Like even though the kernel doesn't automatically fix EH17 bugs or turn into EXT4, I'm positive you'll see kernels that fix EH17 bugs as well as EXT4 converted.
My question? Does this mean wimax in cm7 or is that still samsungs private code?

Then don't.
If someone could please clarify the following questions:
1) What exactly does the Epic 4g need that it does not have to run the latest cyanogenmod with full functionality?
2) I assume this source code release does not directly help in implementing cm7. Is that correct?
3) What are the prospects of the Epic 4g being a fully supported cm7 phone sometime in 2012?
Thanks

Okey doke, I've got you.
1) Well for the longest while we've needed an AOSP kernel based on our kernel which we didn't have source to. A GB kernel with source which of course we had gotten due to Mkasick, Rodderik, Jt countless others. As well as a close to official build of CM7(7.1) which is also greatly made possible due to Decad3nce and Jt, and countless others. We're closer because they were coding in the dark kernel wise before now. And Samsung released their official build as well. (Damn you Samsung)
2) It does help, because they now have a basis to work off of to try to get an AOSP kernel which may take time, but we've some of the most talented Rom developers and kernel developers working together to do this.
3) It could happen befoe 2012, there isn't an eta we can give for something such as this when the catalyst we've needed for months has finally been given to us.
I hope I was of some help. If any more questions ask me I'll gladly answer.

Wait, wait, wait, we never covered the essential question:
Can the source enable my phone to make coffee?
It does: have a cute name called source
It does: have the ability to be downloaded, its available right now.
It does: happen to be something everyone's always asked for.
It does not: help you walk your dog.
It does not: improve your Call of Duty skills
It does not: like the fact that I'm making jokes about it.
K'done .

I see I don't understand the basics of what's going on here.
We've had Froyo source for months, but that was not AOSP?
Or have Samsung/Sprint released something with Gingerbread that they did not release with the Froyo source?
Am I understanding correctly that there are now no remaining structural obstacles and implementing CM is just a matter of development time?
Another question: What is the advantage of cyanogenmod over the stock and custom roms already available for the Epic 4g, meaning what will be better once CM7 is running?

No, Froyo source came out late with GB was "right around the corner". So development stopped waiting for GB source.

Same here. Brazil, ZTA... not even an announcement for a far away release of ICS.
I hope Samsung hasn't hidden any secrets away from the released source code (like code to very specific drivers). If they have, having the sources won't suffice for a properly working ICS Galaxy S 2.
on the other hand, this may be an indication that Samsung hasn't been able to correct bugs still present in their pseudo-official ICS release, and this is their last resort: release the code so that the developers community can fix bugs Samsung hasn't be able to fix. Not that Samsung didn't have to make such release - they should and it is high time they do so.

We know for a fact that there are bugs that Samsung is too clueless to notice/fix... But they are also too clueless to pull the fixes from the community.
See the fuel_alerted wakelock bug for example... Fixed for around 6 months by the community, still broken in Samsung kernels.

Only roms so far are cm7 and cm9. Yeah it sucks this phone doesn't really have any dev support. CM10 is also being worked on by a user here. Right now CM7 is the most stable rom and there aren't really any problems with it. CM9 CAN be used as a daily driver, but video recording doesnt work, and it often freezes and reboots.
