Hey everyone, I know this is probably in the wrong place, but I'm having trouble finding some information on the new version of the MyTouch from LG, including a rooting method. Does anyone have any information on it?

I have both...Rooted mine..
Must have adb installed
Type these commands with usb debugging enabled
c:\adb> adb shell
$ echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
$ exit
Then run SuperOneClick 2.2 and it should root properly.

dmunseyautotech you are awesome.Many thanks.Been trying to root it since purchased and nobody could.I searched all over the web.Once again many thanks.Now if we could some devs. to make it better.
Personally I think it is a pretty good phone. Smooth, fast, nice screen. Maybe it will get some love. It's a lot better than some of the phone I see with lots of support- Optimus T for starters much weaker than this one.
Bad Move T-Mo!
Apparently, they discontinued the regular MT4G and are only offering the slide version from now on . They also said that from now on all their mytouch phones are going to be LG most likely. Most likely they won' even have any decent HTC phones in the future. WHY??? Cheaper for them, stinks for us.

Its the same hardware as Desire HD in its guts, same processor, same emmc, same amount of ram: This should work without too much modification.

Same here! So will we need to do a permanent root for this?
most likely because the scripts wont stick if you use visionary... it would be just like the G2 and u would have to flash the OC script everytime you boot the device lol that got old fast... its soothing to have a permaroot again...

I have downloaded the following rom: PG59IMG_Doubleshot_TMOUS_1.28.531.8_Radio_10.48.9007.00U_10.12.9007.07_M2_release_201296_signed.zip
which I believe is the official TMOUS rom for the doubleshot. will it work on the MT4G? I am hesitant to install it as I don't want to screw my phone up to the point where I brick it, can anyone provide some guidance as to if you have tried it, if so, what were the results, thanks in advance.
Under no circumstances should you flash it on to your phone. It has an hboot, radio, and rom that are all incompatible with our hardware. Flashing an incorrect hboot or radio makes your phone a brick. If you want to run the doubleshot rom, search google for raftvittos doubleshot port.

Im no dev...but probably not 1) you might brick your device 2) Im pretty sure if it boots youll lose root....just wait for a ďev to cook it up IMHO.
Don't flash it. For the love of god, do not flash it. Unless of course you want a $600 paperweight.

ok, thanks, i will not then, i thought evil d or someone had a almost fully working port of it for the mt4g, raftvitto's port is missing alot, camera/video, etc. i guess i will wait...thanks again.

I no over on the g2/desire z forum they have it ported but is only for g2/desire z n desire HD. So I'm sure soon nuff it will b ported to MT4G.

It is posted on evild's site but not fully functional if i am not mistaken... He posted that they are hard at work on it though, so keep an eye out dor it in the dev section in the near future!

well the MT4G already has an official 2.3 gingerbread update, but I doubt we'll be seeing sense 3.0 as an official UI. t-mobile uses a modified version called MySense on the mytouch, so at the very most we might be able to get an official update to look like the doubleshot (MyTouch 4G Slide), but I doubt it

yes, you can go to a local t-mobile store and they can hook you up there or you can download the update from the development section and flash it in fastboot. Ill try to find the link...

In all honesty, I think that's it for our phones for official updates. The GB 2.3.4 is most likely the last one. This phone is about to hit it's end of life cycle, especially with the new line of myTouch's coming out in a month or so.
And even if we did get an update, which I know we won't, Sense 3.0 is highly unlikely. That firmware is only coming out to dual core phones at the very least. So I think your best bet would be to root and then subsequently install Sense 3.0 via Virtual Unity.

So I did the steps for the update and when I restart the phone I see that it found it and its checking it but after that way do I do...I pick the factory reset I think that's what its called..but after that everything is the same...so I need help I don't know if I'm doing it right or leaving a step out
The mytouch already has OS 2.3.5 and sense 3.5 but that's only if your rooted.

it also has 2.3.7 if you flash the latest nightlies of cm7 (no sense 3.5 though, that's another rom :X)

I have the unity v9 kernel and it works great! Another great kernel is the demonspeed one by tdj. Runs real nice on my dad's MT4G running Virtuous Unity.

If you want your phone looking like the MT4GS, you should check out the Virtuous Doubleshot rom.

lol to tell you the truth, i think both of them are great kernels. but try the demonspeed one, that one is real good.
I recently bought a glacier device with royalginger on it... it is fast,stable.... and all that.... but I don't like it... I like sense... So I am planning to flash "Virtuous Unity" in to it... but the official web site says "Clockwork Recovery v3.x.x is required." I have clockwork 5.x.x in my device..... if I proceed what would happen...?
It will flash. Everything will be fine, have no fear . I personally use 4EXT Touch.

I think 4ext is better than CWM. Also if I were OP I would consider Virtuous Affinity, it has Sense 3.5 and I actually have 2 mt4g, 1 has unity, and the other has affinity. No huge difference though, they both are stable. I just like 3.5 better than 3.0 sense...

It just means that you need at least 3.x.x to flash. Newer version is fine.

Stick with unity 3.0 if you want stability and great battery. 3.5 still has quirks that were never worked out.

If you do try Sense 3.5, I recommend looking through the threads for TDJ's ROM. Extremely stable. The only bug I could remember that was never resolved was the stock FFC being sideways, but that could be fixed by flashing the Doubleshot camera. I'm an AOSP guy but I always felt Sense 3.5 was much cleaner and better looking than 3.0.
