[q]Porting Froyo from Wildfire to Legend??

Is it possible to port Froyo From HTC Wildfire to HTC Legend, since they have similar hardware structure?? Yesterday leaked RUU Froyo rom from Wildfire, and today is rooted and everything, so I'm postin here the link to rooted version, and I hope that this maybe help devs to port froyo rom with htc sens to legend, since many users are waiting to such rom .

Worth-while? I don't think so.
With old Legend's kernel it could work but with Wildfire's new one I doubt. Processor is different, touch-screen too (resolution).
Grafx porting is trivial but would be painfully long-lasting...

Ohw thanks for blessing me with that... I've been using Azure for mor than a month so it is not new to me. But some people really prefer Sense, I'm not one of them, I've just pointed out that there maybe is a possibility of porting it to legend, since HTC update service is very useless to legend.

I am using now Azure 1.0.1 and work´s really fast but i prefer sense.

I have ported it.. 1. Problem: need to fix touchpad to get it working.. booting is fine.. 2. Need to see if resolution can be fixed..

Great I'm sure some dev could help you with this problems. Maybe you can get some helpfull stuff out of Azure rom, sinced it is based on froyo, or ask Ali Ba for some advice. Good luck fixing it!

So far so good! Is it confirmed if the ROM has JIT and all other Froyo goodness enabled?

About resoultion, I guess changing LCD density in build.prop wouldn't help? Default value for legend is 160.

Only what the thread for Wildfire says.. about the port it can't be tested since the touchpad doesn't work..

I'm pretty sure the touchscreen will never work, as you have to apply patches to the source code before it is compiled for it to work on the legend :/

Grab a Legend's 2.6.29 kernel from your 2.03.405.3 ROM. You have nothing to loose.

Someone with the knowledge should add the kyosa touchscreen patches to get this working. Would be great.
If a rom leaked to the wildfire I hope they will leak one for the legend too. Would be a treat.

The wildfire has already came out with froyo in china,then the RUU leaked. There is no official froyo rom from htc, so it is hard to believe it will leaked.

If they are not preparing one, there's nothing to be leaked.

hello i have a question bout my internet...i had installed the ice glacier and when i use my internet, and open big web site it closes... i was wonder why is that, before i had this theme it never done that....any help or what i should do.. please and thank you

What are you doing on iced glacier man? That rom is old news. I believe even drew encourage people using iced glacier to move to royal glacier. A way better updated version of iced glacier.

Ironically, that happened to me for the first time yesterday. The page would almost finish loading, and then the browser would close, time and time again. My first thought was it was running out of RAM, but on a device with 768MB? No way. This never happened on my G1, and that only had 192MB RAM.

I don't know if my issue is the same but it's similar. I don't seem to have any data on sense roms anymore. Now that I think about it, this started yesterday. Unfortunately I do not know what rom did it start with. I can confirm that it work on gingerbread MT4G deck by kushdeck 20 minutes ago but not Elite Sense by powduh09 before nor after that. Any suggestions or help would be great. thank you
Edit:I can confirm that data does not work with Royal Panache v1.1 now also and faux123 aosp 1.1.7 works

i didnt really like royal glaicer plus i was all new to this.. but ima start lookin up for some better one

I'm running panache v1.1 and my data is great. 7+ mbs.

Download Flash from the market. This happened a lot on the rooted stock roms without flash

reflash the latest radio again. i been reading about people having similar problems and resolved it by reflashing the radio.

Sorry I should have mentioned this as well. I thought the same and tried that. No luck.

Can anyone help me with my above issue. Any suggestions would be awesome. I will try and make a list to clarify things below.
1.) I do not get any data when running a sense rom on my MT4G. I have tried two sense and two non sense roms to check consistency.
2) Was on older radio when this started so I tried the newest one.
3) Full wipes multiple dl tries.
4) SIM works fine in G2 with all roms I have data.
I don't want to live this way please help!

Just wondering if it's possible to download and install the HTC Sense 3.0 interface/widgets? I have a stock droid rom which is nice but I want the HTC Sense 3 widgets

Doesn't look like he's rooted. You can't just install Sense 3.0 like you install Launcher Pro.

I just rooted my phone today and flashed a rom with sense 3.0. It's pretty awesome, i think i am gonna stick with it for a while.
If you are not rooted, please do give it a try. Just make sure you make the appropriate backups.

Guys please search a bit on the forums. You can find the custom roms in the android development forum
Also yes sense 3 roms are gingerbread.
Now, since they are mostly.experimental, do some research first, get to know some android terms (like nandroid ,clockworkmod, fastboot, adb ,RUU etc) read all of the stickies and then go flashing a rom. What's important when flashing roms/radio/recoveries/bootloaders is to understand what you are doing before doing it. If you do it that way, there are high chances your device won't end as a decorative rock/brick on a bookshelf

Yes, the guy is correct. Reading up is very important.
You could try one with 3.0 mods, 3.0 lockscreen, weather etc.
The rom that i am on now is InsertCoin, stable build. Very stable, and it's on gingerbread. I highly recommend it.

But most of mt4g's hardware spec close to dhd. And so far i know ics creamed glacier use lordchan kernel which is dhd's kernel and it still boot but the wifi fail.
I want to flash flydom by zfreak.
Actually i can port it my self with rom kitchen but im curious.

The ROM won't boot, but if you don't believe me, try flashing it and see for yourself. If DHD ROMs were compatible with the MT4G, there would be a whole lot of happy MT4G owners running those ROMs. There's a reason DHD ROMs have to be ported specifically for the MT4G (see RCMix Sense 3.5, for example).

Oh thanks buddy. I will port it then. Do you know which specific files need to replace in dhd rom? Since the spec is close i think its not necessary to replace all system/etc, bin, lib, etc

I don't personally, no, but someone will see this and let you know. As far as I know, it's relatively easy because of how similar to two devices are.

Just run it through Dsixda's Rom Kitchen. You can get a basic port in 15 minutes.

yes i'm using it. but the important thing is which files to replace and keep. i have read tutorial about porting sense to other sense device but it's too general. i think it doesn't need to replace all driver or libs because MT4G and dhd is identical in hardware.
any idea which files to replace? i have extract beatmod bliss sense (which is multi device rom) to find out the specific files for MT4G. but when i replace the files (and some rename from spade to glacier) with files in beatmod i got bootloop.

Well you need to get a MT4G compatible kernel first... that requires a Linux system to decompile the boot.img. then you need, of course, to edit the build.prop so that the device says Glacier instead of DHD...
Also, you can't use beat mod bliss sense files on flydom ROM because they are two different ROMs. One is Sense 3.5, the other is Sense 3.0...

No, because like i said before, you need to change the kernel. And to do that requires a Linux machine...
Beat mod bliss sense ROM is Sense 3.5. This one is Sense 3.0.

alright, dsixda's kitchen has a feature to edit the boot.img,i'll search for the tutorial.
i thought difference between sense 3.5 and 3.0 only in app, framework, and some libs. i dont think that for fundamental files like drivers also different. so i use beatmod.

To port a rom from dhd you need to replace boot.img the wifi module a couple camera libs and the key layout and keychars in /system/usr I'm sure there's something else but can't remember off the top of my head

I have done that but no luck. I will decompile its boot.img and compare it with some of boot.imgs from custom rom here.
Any sugestion mt4g sense 3.0 rom here to take its files?

no i don't, i port it for my self because i don't have super fast internet connection to upload larger than 10mb file.

if you download that do you mind to share it to me the lib, etc, bin, build.prob, and boot.img? it will make the files smaller to download rather than the 500MB ROM.

Virtuous unity and fusion are both sense 3.0 I beleive. Fusion was pretty much abandoned once evild started on unity.

To my knowledge, you can't. I could be wrong, but I believe that every phone is unique in it's ports. I do believe that the DHD is extremely similar to ours, but I'm not completely sure that you could flash one of their roms. You could test it, but I strongly recommend making a nandroid backup first.

Dont even try it,unless u want a mytouch paper weight,i suggest you read up in the stickies section so u dont damage your phone!!!

Its really no big deal man.. I just did flash cm11 for ace on my glacier and all it did was not install. I was wanting to see if it would at least boot. (it doesn't) So now I'm going to try and port it for myself. Cause I'm sure cm11 for glacier is coming

Actually once I flashed a DHD rom mistakenly. When it didn't boot I flashed a glacier kernel an it worked fine. It gave me one or two "not reponding" msgs though.

I don't think it would end in a brick. The Kernel partion is called the same thing as the Glacier's.
For Cm11, I'm pretty sure Team Hydra will compile a build for us. If they don't, I'll try to port them over from the DHD
To port a rom, google for guides. Then it won't boot most likely. Do a logcat and PM, I'll try to help, I don't know much but I've experienced some errors I could help with.
