Cant get my note to tether from and iPhone 4s to use its internet. is there something special i had to do?
I read you have to enable ad-hoc but is it device specific? I can't find anywhere to enable it on the galaxy note.
Thanks for your help

I have tried all the setting in 3G Mobile Hotspot app but my Ipad keeps telling me it is uable to join. I know the passwords are correct and dont understand because i have a Mifi with verizon and that allows the ipad to connect with no problem.
Please help!!
Thanks
Try turning off wifi on ipad first, turn on hotspot, then turn ipad wifi back on.
I finally got it to work have to use WPA with a simple pass phrase. Not sure why it is being so pickey. It is pretty slow, the Eris did a great job at tethering with all of my devices and the speeds were pretty good.
Hey guys,
I been trying to tether my unlocked iphone 4 4.01 running on tmobile tzone to my samsung galaxy tab.
I have tried using MyWi to create a hotspot for the galaxy tab but it doesn't recongize the hotspot.
Any suggestion why it might not be working or is there something wrong im doing?
I have tried it with my friend samsung vibrant and it works perfectly tether to the galaxy tab.
thanks in advance

Get a microsim to normal sim adaptor and stick the iPhone sim in the tab
So are you trying to create a mobile hotspot with the Tab and connecting your iphone to it?
If so, first, do as the post above says, then on your Tab just go to settings>wireless and network>Mobile AP to create an access point so you can connect your iphone to it.
well im actually trying to do it the other way around.
my tab i bought it without the wireless plan.
here an update
my iphone currently is running on tmobile w/ the tzone service, but I have not been able to have the tab recoginize my wifi tethering off the iphone.
I did go into the tab and changed out the wap file, mention in another thread that i read. And that was able to show up my ad-hoc off my iphone. For some reason now, the tab doesn't want to connect to the iphone wifi.
For what it's worth I can't connect my iphone4 to my galaxy s 19000. Asked a genius at an apple store and he told me the iphone cant find and wont find the galaxy s to connect with the mobile ap program or vice versa with myfi(wi?)4.0 and it cant even connect to it with blutooth. Bye bye iphone.
Sgs doesnt detect ad hoc wifi that the iphone is giving. . .

Google "adhoc fix galaxy tab" and you will find instructions. It involves downloading and overriding a file with root privileges. I have my T-Mobile Tab receiving wifi from my iPhone.

i was able to override the file on the tab and tried running on mywi 4.0. it now shows up that i have the option to connect to the iphone. but it still not able to connect and give off any wifi signal.
any other ideas?
I finally left WM after many years and went to the dark side. I have a Droid X and friends have said just the tethering capability makes rooting my phone worth it. I'm on Verizon and it has a an app called 3G Mobile Hotspot which I use to connect my laptop to, or my kids iPod touches while I'm in the car. Are there any speed advantages or other reasons why USB tethering is better? I understand USB will not drain the battery, but other than that, any advantages? It is my understanding that I can also do wi-fi tethering, what is the difference between that and a wi-fi hotspot?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Yes, USB tethering uses less battery since you are not running the wifi radio in the phone
As for speed, I don't think there is a difference, usb and wifi speeds are much faster than 3g speeds.
Wifi tethering and hotspot are essentially the same, just different names.
Most of the wifi tethering apps on the market use ad-hoc mode, some wifi devices wont connect in this mode, I think the ipad, ipod and psp do not connect in this mode.
The 3g hotspot app that comes with the phone is nice since it uses wifi infrastructure mode, which is more compatible with wifi devices. Too bad it's an additional $20/month (unless you know the workaround!)
I hear that "Wifi Tether" on the market has support for this mode, but I have never been able to get it to work.
WiFi Tether for Root Users is an excellent application. It uses infrastructure instead of ad-hoc, so a wider range if devices can connect to it. And not having to pay an extra $20 a month is a nice advantage. Rooting is so worth it ^_^

Nice, I will have to try it again sometime
Thanks!
Makes perfect sense and answers the question on why I could get my kids iPod touches to connect to the hotspot on my HTC Touch Pro 2, but not my Droid X. Thanks for your help!
Anyone know if we'll be able to connect the Nexus 7 to our phones like a Galaxy Nexus through Bluetooth for data something Akin to iPhone to iPad? WiFi HotSpot is a huge battery killer.
I would say yes. When I get N7 I'll check it out.
Wi-fi direct should work for file transfers
BT tethering works no problem.
I just bought my note 3 from sprint is there a way tat i can use it as a hotspot for my tablet?
