Facebook Sync and HTC Widgets on Donut?

Does anybody know a fast and stable donut ROM that has facebook sync and HTC widgets? So far, I haven't been able to find one. Only Hero ROMs I've tested have the HTC widgets and fb sync, but lacks BT. Eclair ROMs have fb sync, but lack video.

HTC Widgets require the Rosie framework, in which is only in the Sense UI Android interface (at least from my understanding) you cannot have these widgets without having Sense, and if you could - then it would've been done by now. There are only copies.
I don't know about FaceBook sync, I thought there was an app for that.

why are there two facebook applications?

Why are there two facebook applications on the mytouch 4G? One is called just facebook and one is called facebook for mytouch? When I upload pictures I can use both programs with different interfaces for uploading. Only facebook for mytouch is syncing my contacts.

The Facebook for myTouch is the one built into the phone. The that just says Facebook is the Facebook independent application that you downloaded from the marked. You don't need the Facebook app from the market for most things. So, if you want to make your send-to list look cleaner then you can unstall your downloaded Facebook app.
Out of the box the phone only has "Facebook for myTouch" and the fb integration is used to read and update statuses (friend stream, built in account sync, etc).

Thank you. That helped a lot. Just one question regarding updates. How is the facebook for mytouch application updated when not through the market?

How do you do status updates and stuff from the integrated one?

I deinstalled the facebook application and left only the facebook for mytouch application on the phone. You can do only status updates etc over the friends stream widget I guess. That is stupid. I reinstalled the facebook application again because I never use the friend stream widget anyway. I will remove the facebook for mytouch account for syncing and add the normal facebook account (edit: just found out you cannot add the facebook account for syncing). I don't know why HTC implemented so many redundant functions...peep and twitter, cannot use picasa in the gallery anymore either because they integrated flickr...at least they should give us the choice.

Ya that's why I can't wait till cm6.1 gets stable for this phone.i came from a g2 on rc3 lol

CyanogenMod Sense alternative

Hi!
I would really like to try out a CyanogenMod build on my HD2. Till now I have only played with the Sense builds. The reason for that is the Sense contacts, calendar and dialer apps integration, and exchange server integration for business mail.
The most important part to me are
the abillity to link Facebook, Twitter and Google contacts together in the contacts app (exchange is not important to me for contacts)
the T9 dialer functionality
the Facebook for Sense integration into the calendar app
and the exchange email client
Does anybody know of any good substitute apps for the above mentioned features? I'm not interested in the HTC widgets and HTC camera.

1. Shockingly, the Facebook and Twitter app would take care of that.
2. Dialer One seems to be pretty popular
3. Dunno
4. Built-in, called Email

Thanks for answering. Does Facebook and Twitter now combine similar contacts into one contact? I think that the newest version of the native Facebook Android app actually syncs with the calendar by default now.

I think it adds the contact but won't merge contacts with the same name. I'm having the same issue. Gone from sense to CM 7

So you are saying that, it links together facebook contact with the contact in your phone, making his profile picture as caller id picture on your phone for example ?

I would recommend you to try launcher pro on top of cyanogenmod7 , even though it doesn't have everything that sense has, it has a launcher that's pretty close to sense , it has widgets like the calendar with agenda, a friends stream for facebook and twitter, or you can do them individually, a favorites widget just like sense, good animation when scrolling thru the pages in the homescreen. I really like it!

Sorry for interupting, but im intrested in Sense like dialer, and sense like people ( for example, persons facebook profile picture appears as my contact picture, caller id ect..)

isnt CleanDroid a CM desire build?

Apparently if you go to edit the contact then press menu again then you can join contacts similar to linking them where sense is available. This was written by someone else on here. Can see who but credit goes to them as this does work.

Yes, i did that, but pictures for contacts from facebook are ugly and low res

if you want your facebook events and birthdays you can add them to your google calendar via ical link.

Facebook not syncing contacts

I was using cm 6.1.3 all my contacts were there. I then flashed the latest sprint lovers rom I no longer can sign in to facebook on htc sense. I then did a nand backup and still couldn't sign in to facebook for sense. I also flashed mikifroyo which was working over 1 week ago now can't sign into facebook for sense. Any ideas on what is causing this? Is it the fact I went to an ASOP rom then back to sense. I have done a full wipe every time I flash. I have also uninstalled facebook for android then tried to reinstalled. I have searched all day and all info seems to be from July.

CM's contact sync is different from a sense rom's. Did you try going to Accounts and Syncs and adding a Facebook For HTC Sense account? That should do the trick.

When I do that it says service unavailable. I have tried 3 other sense based roms and the same message every time.

[Q] Facebook contact syncs incorrect info

I just flashed the newest Virtuous Unity last night, and am a bit new to the HTC Sense scene. When syncing my contacts with Facebook, it displays incorrect birthdays. For example, one of my childhood friends (who I've known for ever so I can't be wrong) has a birthday on May 17, but their synced Facebook info says May 16. When I go to their Facebook profile using the app, it correctly says the 17th. It does this for almost everyone in my contacts list. Any ideas?

They've always sync'd the day before as their birthday. It does it for me as well.

It's always been that way for me also. I think it's an issue on the Facebook side in the mobile part
