Pimp my Transformer - Eee Pad Transformer General

I will probably get a Prime once they are released in Sweden (need the keyboard) and by that time I'd probably only get half of what i paid anyway. So instead of selling my TF-101 I was thinking that I'd have someone pimp it for me. Any place that does those things? Anyone here who loves doing things like that? What would you do if you were going to pimp your Transformer?

get the metal rim powdercoated. build the usb dongle into the casing (hard, nobody has done it). spraypaint it.

Hahaha, I was thinking more in terms of changing camera and speakers, perhaps installing a LED for the camera, enhance mic. I guess all you can do is something with the outside, not the inside?

which is better

hello am going to buy a tablet but not sure which 1 to get need some coments
acer iconia a500 or asus transformer thanks
The iPad.
*Iconia DUH*
in what way
1) Iconia is available
2) USB port without buying an expensive keyboard
3) better build quality
4) lots of other bullet points which others can feel free to expand upon
Newegg has the 32gb Transformer in stock. $50 more than the A500, though. If you don't care about the optional $150 keyboard, I think the A500 is better because of the better build and full sized USB port.

I'm not sure why another thread such as this is needed. However, since you asked, I'd say go with the Acer.....keeping in mind that this is an Iconia forum. The USB port is very handy. The Asus with the dock becomes a net book. So, I'm at a meeting and a coworker hands me a flash drive to upload some files to. With the Acer I just plug it in. With the Asus ill need to get out the dock (net book) and attach to upload the files. I purchased the Iconia to replace my laptop, giving my backpack a smaller, lighter profile. Just my .02

it depends on your demand.
acer ,it has a standard usb port .
asus, has a better screen .
if you need type lots of words ,the keyboard is necessary.
Yay for the 100th thread asking this question!

Agreed even though I screwed mine up when I first rooted & removed stuff I shouldn't of. I've been to busy to fix it & afraid I'll really mess things up. Bottom line, I love this beast. I'm one of those nuts that research things to the point of driving myself crazy. A500 is the best hands down.
.... and if you go to the Transformer section and ask exactly the same question, don't be too surprised to get exactly the opposite answer!
There are pluses and minuses to both tablets - you pays your money and you takes your choice!

Dave
Here's a post on reddit where tons of people are having problems with Asus hardware and customer support:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/hpvph/asus_transformer_owners_are_you_having_any_issues/
Haven't seen anything like this about Acer users, and there have been something like 1 million Iconia a500 tablets sold.
asus support sucks
There is a Asus repair facility less the 4 miles from where I live.I had a web can issue with a Dee PC netbook. They told me online I could drop it off to be repaired. When I got over there I was standing in there office area looking thru the glass and could see repair areas. They would not accept my email told me I had to mail it to to them by Ups.I paid 14.00 to ship a product 4 miles from my home.then took them 5 weeks tobget it back to me.
Never would I ever buy another Asus product.I called and complained and was told that they would talk to the people at the repair facility.
Lame lame lame
The fact that the OP go to an Acer specific forum and posted the question takes some nerve...
@OP
if someone were to visit YOUR house and posed the question of... which is better ? your house or the one down the street ?... what do you think YOUR reaction might be ?

Iconia A500...
coz I tested others... didn't feel anything better in my hand than Iconia...
even my love Samsung GT 10.1.... I felt like OMG it's damn light...going to broke easyliy and what that sluuuuuugggisssshhh honeycomb on it.... really so disapointed.... so sad as well coz the price was quite good just 3000THB for the 16GB model with 3G against my 32Gb Iconia... with USB and tethering my Liquid Metal for 3G... hu
I think it comes down to preference. Screen on the Transformer is what sold me. Also the fact that it's thinner and lighter. Unfortunately, I am aware of the QC issues with it and I'm hoping I get a good one. It's available on Amazon for $399 with no tax and free shipping. There was a -$40 off offer if approved for their Amazon Visa credit card, too. Applied in less than 2 minutes and now I paid $359.00 for it.
If it turns out to have a lot of bad issues, I'll consider the a500. The weight and bulk of it kind of turn me off, however.
If there's one thing I will feel like I'm missing out on, though, it would be that oh-so-handy USB port.
Can the webmaster please delete the search-function of this forum.

Should I trade my transformer for a xoom?

I know someone who wants to do this trade. I know the xoom costs more but should I do it? Waddya think?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
Trade it. Sell the xoom for $500 then buy a tf again and pocket the $100
^ Damn he's good. Do it my son.
Yes, do the trade for resale thing, but don't do it based on the tablets alone. I had a Xoom before my TF, and I can't think of a single advantage of the Xoom. The TF blows it away in just about every category.
Oh, wait: the Xoom is a little narrower. There, that's all I can think of.

A barometer ? Oo
jateelover , yes definitely trade it, if you are sure that the device is fully functional, was never dropped, etc.
Yeah it predicts stormy weather. Great for predicting your tears when the person next to you has a tablet with a functional MicroSD slot for $400.00 when your XOOM costs $600.00.
Seriously though the thing letting the TF down is the lousy QC and rushed software/firmware (possibly hardware but nothing concrete on that front). Hopefully most of the issues will be fixed but it's totally unnaceptable to be guinea pigs whilst Asus tries to get it's house in order. I'd rather them have waited a couple of months and get it right to be honest.
I showed my friend my tf and he said he had just gotten a xoom, then I told him the specs, the features and the price and his response was "damn I guess I should have waited a little while".
Ya I might trade and use the zoom until Asus starts getting their act together with qc. The one I have now is good except for light bleed though...thanks for the input...

In the ****ed up world we live in, Microsoft get aplauded for rushing out the badly broken Xbox, Sony got hauled over the coals for making a proper console that worked.
Now it seems the opposite should apply, and people want companies to wait again...
Hmmm..... OK then......
I don't know about this trade...yeah sure you might be able to sell it, buy a new TF and pocket some cash but is that worth the hassle?
Call me crazy but i just don't like the Xoom as much as the TF. It's not just the fact that the TF is more functional but I actually think it looks cooler as well.
I vote keep your TF - get your friend to sell his one to someone else and buy his own. Then you can be TF buddies.

Rules of Selling an Transformer

Anyone knows the xda rules of me trying to sell a partially broken Transformer? I have a transformer that I dropped and the screen stopped working, then I opened it up and got it to work for a moment, now its back to not working. I know someone with more skills can get it to work and I would like to sell it to a member if possible.
Meant to say - Rules of Selling "a" Transformer
what do you want?
Make me an offer. I'm sure someone can get this to work, keep it or resell it.
Seems fair but more than I want to pay for parts
I is a cheap ass and already have an Asus, Nook Color, Notion Ink Adam and 3 Touchpads...I have a tab in every room now
Anyone can make me an offer. I don't even know where the wires are that control the screen.
One us dollar!

Look, man, check your PM. With the condition that you described your TF, I honestly think what I offered is going to be the best you will ever get. In fact, I'm having doubts about my offer. Just saying. Why would anyone want to pay a lot of money for something that more likely than not will be as good as a door stopper?

The awful journey of my DZ and what should i do with it?

Hi DZ owners, I want to share a story with you:
*walloftext*
I had my DZ for about a year.
Then it was stolen one evening in a place full of people. I never thought I would see it again.
But then after about half a year I got 2 parties, which accused each other of having it.
Through intimidation on luck of one of them still having it I have got it back.
That imbecile did neither sell or use it. He just had it lying around in a cupboard as a kind of trophy, propably even smasehd it on ground some times... (And I wondered why I couldnt track it.)
Now the phone is a terrible mess. The battery was empty for a long time, degraded to not even last a day. The display (not the glass) was broken.
Then I bought a new battery and display for about 30€ replaced the display and while opening one of those small fragile connectors at the side of the board (I dont actually know what they connect, can someone tell me?), the lower one broke but I kludged it with a small piece of tape in place.
Fine everything worked, my Virtuous Unity install boots with /data as I left it.
The reading of my notes and contacts from that time really got me a nostalgia flash.
The sdcard was gone (I actually searched that guys box of stolen phones). Putting a new one in, phone mounts and stops complaining. After that I turned it off, wanting to sleep. The next day I loaded a fresh rom, QuadraSense because Virtuous Unity uses too much ram. Put it on SD and guess what? The SD (any of 5 microsds i have.) cant be mounted, not with FAT, not with EXT. Can the broken connector from the insides cause this?
But when I shake the phone the display brightness varies, (the kludged clip is not really stable) so I guess the connector is either for the display energy or the sensor but it could be multipurpose.
When I have fixed that, what will propably be the next problem with this phone?
Should I invest more time/replacement stuff into it or just buy a new one? Are there newer phones with physical keyboard?
I had a Motorola Milestone 2 for a while for really cheap but their keyboards suck because the keys stop working or stick, it seems like the existing MS2s have reached their end of life. (I have tested 4 MS2s all the same.)
I am thinking of a Galaxy Note if not keyboard. Anyone here knows about the openness and rom diversity? (I am browsing that forum right after this post so this is not just a lazyass question, more of an if someone just has the info in mind right now.)
lol at the existing tags!
sounds like the connection to the sdcard slot is damaged as well as the main flexcable as it sounds like you replaced the lcd
I don't know your situation but if it were me id find it gratifying to kick the guys ass and demand a brand new g2, but to each there own
personal opinion there isn't a better phone on the market right now than the g2/dz, at least not for my needs so it may be worth your time fixing this one
(that guy sounds like the kind of *******s that deserve very bad things)

What cell phone does this guy use? You should just take it out of his hand and tell him you're even. I did that to a guy who stole my skateboard once. He was on steroids and weighed 50lbs more than me, but I guess I used the f word enough times loud enough that he realized he was wrong? I don't know if i'd try that again though hahaha

I fear it might be the end of your DZ and tbh if it was me in your position I would go with a Note or may be the SG3
I'll pay him a visit today when hes back from work, I think hes got enough money to buy a new one. His currently used phone is an old Sony Erricson thing. As for if I am even with him, dont know my physical condition is not the best but with the power of ale one can not fail. XD
EDIT: Thats the broken piece inside:

Urgh phones get so filthy when you zoom in.
the parts aren't that expensive. U you can get them on eBay and repair it yourself

Just so you know my post was half joke. Yes, I think he owes you a new phone, but I don't want to find out you got in a fistfight with him b/c of my joke advice. haha but still, if he knows he's wrong, you'd be surprised sometimes how compliant a guilty person can be.
Good luck! Let us know what you decide and how it turns out =)

Anyone Still Using TPT1?

Just wondering what you guys are using it for/ what you're running on it. It's been on my shelf collecting some dust and I'm not sure whether to sell it off or use it for something. There is some functionality I like on it such as the HDMI port and the USB port and other things but I'm not really sure what to do with it. Just wanted to know what everyone else was doing.

I recently sold mine...When I first purchased it I loved it! I rooted and installed Koshu's rom which made it much faster. I used it for taking notes in college and at work (Comp Sci, Software Development). When the development of the rom stopped I tried to look into ways of building an ASOP rom for myself but no luck . Anyway I ended up selling it because it was taking up space and the Nexus 9 looked like a really nice upgrade. Currently waiting for it to be delivered.

I sold it on Amazon for about $170 ish USD with all the accessories (cables, dock, and a case). After the fees I got about $140 USD. I really just wanted to get rid of it.

The TPT still serves me well as a scratch pad, a sketchbook and a media consumption device. I also have a 64GB SD card that stores all of drafts, code, frequently read books and assessed data. It thus can be conveniently switched between my work laptop and the TPT w/o meddling with the bloody cables.
Do I want to upgrade? Of course. However I'm still waiting for a decent sub £250 Windows tablet with digitizer and long battery life for the upgrade to be worthwhile. None found so far so the TPT will still be my companion for a little while.
