Greetings all,
This is my second day with the Galaxy S2 and my first post in your forums , i upgraded from xperia x10 and i have no words to describe this super machine .
Impressed from the stock Firmware and touchwiz.
Anyway back to the subject , i have a problem with gtalk at stock rom, i cant connect to it through 3g, but i can use every other application with no problems , browser , gmail, emails all working great with 3g.
I flashed Galnet Miui yesterday and tried gtalk and working with 3g.
So i kindly ask if someone could help with this problem .
Why gtalk working with 3G on Miui rom and NOT in stock rom ?
With simple words in stock rom gtalk app can not communicate with server, not even logging .
Gtalk is very important application for me and my work and i would really love to use the stock or roms based on stock but unfortunately i can not because of that.
Dont get me wrong i like Miui but i used it a lot on x10 and touchwiz giving me the feeling of a solid , fast and complete Rom.
I am reading your threads and i am impressed how people in here trying to help , advice each other. Everything is in order.
Thanks in advance guys,
Regards
Vatis
Try the gtalk enabler in the market (I think that's what its called). Worked for me to get video chat over 3g (att has the feature marked as not available over 3g, gtalk enabler overrides this)
EDIT: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.innodroid.gtalkenabler
If its blocked by your carrier, try finding the apk on the developer's website.
@compuw22c ,
Thank you for your fast reply .
I will try it as soon as i will re-flash stock Rom .
Sorry to change subject but now in the Galnet Miui its pre-installed the new version of gtalk with video support , i guess there is also a working version for stock?
Can you provide some more details.
Thanks again.

Hi
first of all, i'd like to thank you the rom with Jacob ... really cool stuff
Now, i'm using Nighlies 50....
but...i have a lots of question..i searched the forum, but nothing found:
(if i ask that somebody asked earlier, sry)
Is that possible to flash a new nightly without loosing everything, just to update the changes?
Can i see somewhere, what is the updates between different nightlies?!
(i flashed the stable RC1 ... and after this nightly 50 ... the big difference is that this release supports SIM card contacts )
Live wallpapers isn't working ... except one: polar clock ... the others, just "loading wallpaper", and nothing happend
the roms default browser is a little laggy, but opera solved the problem ... and there is no flash 10.1 support.... i thought android 2.2 will bring flash support
thx for the replies

Hi, I bought the x10 a month ago and I would like to operate a Flash Player, if anyone could advise me if I have to install the android 2.2 or later, or is there a way to work on 2.1. If so, what I need, if not, how do I select a ROM to upload, because I see that there are several on this forum. If I have to upload the new ROM, then please tell me what stops me working. I heard that the camera stops working. Please advice

You need to move to 2.2 or uper ver for using flash player.
yes, there are so many ROM...but i think Z's rom is better....not sure....plz check under dev section....
Hi cyberghost if you want to have a flash support on your device you need to upgrade to 2.2 but there is no working hd recording on 2.2 beta4, but video illusion works but not in hd. Its up to you to decide flash with no hd recording or just stay on stock rom of s.e.
Couldn't some of the improvements found in 2.2+, like flash, be made to work on 2.1? I know that some of the things 2.2 were already made to work on 2.1, such as voice search and multi updates from the market.
Hi, not a newbie (well almost). Had my Vega a while now, upgraded to Modaco r8 as soon as I got it and its been fine. But for the last week, when web browsing, if I don't click a link or otherwise use the connection for about 3 to 5 minutes, it won't connect through and says web page not available, even though the wifi icon at the top of the screen is there and on the wifi settings page it says I am connected. If I untick the "turn on wifi" and retick it the connection re-establishes.Have searched various things but can't anybody with the same problem. Anybody any ideas or solutions. Thanks in advance.
Hi there.
R8 is based from old firmware now (v1.08 i believe), if i remember correctly a stock firmware update did improve wifi. Not saying it should not be working, just might be time to consider upgrading your firmware to a newer base. I have not used froyo for a while now. Bar a few niggles, vegacomb is best. Honeycomb is just far better for tabs.
Sorry i could not help further.
Thanks for the reply ganjaman, if I flashed the modded stock rom, could I still use r8, as it all works (except the wireless, but as I said thats a recent thing). As from what I have read there are a few bugs with vegacomb still, so would want to wait till its virtually bug free
With a little bit of research, I've found the answer, yes I can. But if anyone knows of a different solution, please feel free to chime in!
No you cant. R8 is a full rom and will replace the modded stock files. If you want to stick with froyo, either use corvus sp1 rom or stock (from the advent website) with my add-on (link in my sig)
Last time i tried my add-on with the modded stock v1 it did not work. Not tried v2 thought.
I use vegacomb on a daily basis, and its fantastic. Your choice...
Good luck.
Cheers gangaman, I'll have a further read and see what I decide
Hi folks.
I've just been given this phone by a friend who has just upgraded to a Galaxy S2. I'm running a HTC Sensation myself but the handset looks like it should still be a useful upgrade for my daughter if I could get a custom ROM on it.
Almost all the DL links from the DEV sub-section seem down though. I did get Jazzman's ROM eventually but can anyone still playing with this device tell me if this is a good, bad or indifferent ROM to try. I don't want to waste time installing a bad'un.
I see from reading other threads that all custom ROMs seemed to have inherited a camera bug which could be partially fixed by reinstalling the default camera app (but no settings are ever saved). Did anyone ever get beyond that or did folks simply get newer phones and move on?
Lastly, if anyone still has a few of the old ROMS DL'd on their computer (Artos' anyone??) and could upload them somewhere for me and others to get access again, then that would be great.
Hoping someone can help. It's definitely too good to be binning it without trying something.....

Hey Crommy, did you upgrade to the latest stock rom? That really soves most of the issues with the device and is quite decent by itself.

there is no latest stock rom for me, i was using a EN-AR Rom B, the latest one is C with no Arabic support , so i downloaded brain master Manila , its Great !, it hangs 80 % less than the old one, Plus its faster, only issue found is the twitter tab when i login it says you are forbidden to use these account, at desktop and mobile browser the account logins normally.
do you have any idea how to install Arabic lang support for reading massages and contacts names?
Hi Chaps
Ive been looking for either a factory rom or something very basic and lightweight for my omnia 7
Currently I have the Tango V4 installed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1571068) and my whatsapp will crash after about an hours worth of talking and i need to reboot the phone (ive reinstalled it)
any suggestions for a lightweight rom or links to a factory rom would be great as i seem to find dead links
I have ftp space if anyone can kindly upload one for me
Thankyou in advance
Why don't you try mi7ROM NOKIA edition, by Miro? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782388
It works great, you can try no-skin version if you like the default look, and can also download Nokia apps with no hassle whatsoever. There are some preinstalled apps, but you can hardly call them "bloatware", just some tiny applications that you could uninstall if you really don't need them. I couldn't think of any reason to get back to stock ROM after I've seen this nicely cooked ROM in action...

i had the problem with whatsapp crashing, too. very annoying indeed. but it is not your ROM s fault, its an app-error i believe (the latest whatsapp update). what i did was to uninstall whatsapp and sideload any older version and the problem was gone. if you want i can send you an older version (1.8) of whatsapp which works without any problems.
